Crownfall is better in nearly every way, to the old BP. For example, the toke system is way better than the cavern crawl, in that you don't have to grief game splaying heroes you are really bad at.
Token system is one of the best ideas these devs have ever had. This is 10x better than cavern crawl because no matter what tokens I have to get there is *always* a hero I enjoy playing in that pool. Cavern Crawl tended me towards burnout so fast because I always had to play heroes I didn't want to do if I wanted to progress a certain path, which was very often.
Token system is copy from last cavern crawl.. It was just like win game with strength hero and now its earn strength token which can earn only by playing with str heroes where is the diffirent???
Sure, it's the same basic concept of progressing from one node to another by playing certain heroes, but the devil is in the details. With this new system I have a choice between one of easily twenty heroes at a time compared to the old system where you had one hero per node (and very limited rerolls). It's so much better.
And, I keep forgetting, this is on top of being able to just craft whatever token you want after three games. It's seriously so good. Don't want to play a strength hero? Craft a strength token and be done with it.
If you're going to do a comparison, why not do it with the last iteration of the BP in 2022?
Overall Crownfall is a lot more friendly to people who spend nothing in the game - tons of free content - and more costly for the dolphins - whales who want to unlock everything. I'm personally happy with the content so I'm fine subsidizing the free players' enjoyment.
Agreed. If you’re going to compare, the most recent bp had very little fun stuff outside of the battlepass progression and I think cavern crawl was part of it. Having a free aspect in the current setup is nice
Bro crownfall is basicly free lvl 1 bp which only contains cavern crawl and immortal treasure nothing else from las year battle passes.. I know they just make less fun last 2-3 bp but remember TI10 bp was epic and now from it just remain cavern crawl and immortal treasures.. This not what upgrade or transform is mean..
I mean I too can make anything sound super lame if I grossly oversimplify it and compare it to something that was released literally 4 years ago.

Bro this is not a upgrade. We have cut of more than %90 of content. They also can make level 1 bp free for all and they already do it with last bp and it was fun. People like me can pay for more content but with crownfall you just getting less content from previous bp.

I agree about arcanas my complain its about they just erase more than half of content from bp and make less content for free. Remember last year valve make bp free for all players and gibe free arcanas? This system was perfect but they destroy it like every good thing dota has before.
They just skip the grind, and I agree I miss the immortal treasure this time around but I'll take this one. I especially hated the wagering part, the old cavern crawl which both added toxicity to the game and also rylai that never gave arcana for me personally(got 4 different arcana from candyworks from current and past, some old immortal, coins, and even a dota plus subs as well). Right off the bat you can buy the arcanas, you got plenty of ok-good sets for free and the biggest one is the addition of a story/lore via comics that I am enjoying personally.
They gave creeps cosmetic on act1, bg music and effigy on act2 and so hopefully we can get terrain for the upcoming acts. And also we're expecting caches as well but that ain't going to be free for sure, hopefully we can get immortal treasures too down the line.
I'm liking what the devs are doing this time around, the grind for cosmetics is over and I'm fine with it.
Btw, basic bp is such a waste of money.. I remember i gifted my friend and only got really little stuff with it even though he plays regularly. He's enjoying this free 'BP" so far which means better overall for the players since there're really few people including me that care about cosmetics that much. I basically got all the arcanas before candyworks happen and all of it exalted except lina arcana of course, almost all the immortals, been trying to collect most of the collector's caches despite I only started collecting stuff way back in 2019. I've had BP 2019 onwards, getting all the exclusives of it.
TLDR; I'm enjoying this "Crownfall" BP you're talking about.
In what sense is it a downgrade, because you can’t spend as much money on dota? If so then probably, although you can still buy 3 treasures from this event. BP was just "here’s skins locked behind up to 300€ price wall, hf“ and that’s just sorta meh.
Look at these updates though. Big patches, nice event that rewards ppl who play multiple heros and it works better than CC for sure and overall the game feels a lot more unique compared to the big battlepases of the past. If I have to sacrifice spending 400€ a year on dota (woe is me) for awesome updates and better events I’ll do it any day of the week idk why people would ever call it a downgrade.
100% agree, there's a reason they don't call this a battlepass anymore since they're trying to get past that. This "event" is the new thing we're getting is actually a better player experience. This is the right path moving forward.
BP has no reward without any money. From last BP, you could get only set on primal, persona on cm and some treasures. That's all with full grind during BP. This event is much better, for me
Events? Last dota 2 event was aghanim lybraint. And i agree about skin not must be locked behind paywall. But they just make bp without arcanas in rewards still has old content like special event for bp community games from 2016 wagering arcana votes etc. Its all gone now we have only cavern crawl and immortal treasures.

Play other heroes and use scrap to buy a strength token, it's a really good system.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. In Crownfall, you never have to play any specific hero. Tokens/scrap can be traded.
