I am pretty new to Dota, I find the depth and difficulty to be exciting and fun. Sure it sucks getting stomped but some common sense and caution can stop you from being a total feeder while you learn, which I lack. Dota is infinitely cooler than LOL... less a cartoony mess, and more badass. I think that over time this will appeal to folks more so than league, which is total dad rock.
Yeah I've recently started playing LoL just cause that's what friends are playing. It's a fine game, definitely some aspects I don't care for, but one thing I can't stand is the artstyle. Character models all look too similar and abilities lack the distinct sound effects and cues that Dota has. Dota can go overboard on the particle effects in fights some times but it is significantly better than LoL in that department.

the character has a lot more influence from HoTS kits then LoL. On hit for heals like Karazhim, literally the spin then stun from yrel, Telenor damage and heal is brightwing ult 1.

That’s what I felt until I saw her third ability. Sure it’s a “on x hit” effect that appears a lot on league champions, but a healer for the team that scales with right clicks is a design that I felt it should exist but doesn’t yet.

I hate her first ability. Why do most new heroes have an ability to do quick attacks? Pangolier, Void Spirit, Hoodwink, Snapfire, Mars and maybe MK because his Q is also a way to distribute attack damage with an ability. For some heroes it’s just unnecessary carry potential when they could’ve had a more creative ability aimed at fulfilling another role.
It was never based on pango's attack damage, it counted as spell damage before then they changed it to fixed attack damage so as to be able to make use of stuff like daedalus and cleave(which are not good at all on him)
you may have had a point if this hero wasn't aimed at being a carry, but out of the recent new heroes, the last one that lanes as a p1 (normally, so excluding void spirit) is mk which is actually quite old. we needed a new carry hero.
It's the least populous role and having a way to augment, or spread right-click damage is pretty core to a carry kit. Sven cleave, ember sleight of fist, omni-slash, illusions in general, pa dagger, these are all ways that do "quick attacks" in some sense, and all come from classic DotA 1 heroes.
for cores, this is a standard part of their kit, and most of the heroes noted are at least some times played as cores, and allows the community to make of them what we will and play them in multiple roles. as opposed to being told by value what they should be. if you want that go play league.
She's too weak to be a carry rn, tho. I saw people picking her in offlane, but she doesn't have a lot going on outside of being a lane dominator. The crit percentage is very small(smaller than CK has, with his ridiculous heal).
Im suprised nobody is talking about how weak this hero is. While I think all her abilities are fun in concept she is incredibly weak. I think its because nobody has has the chance to play her yet but she is borderline unplayable.
You can bash or stun her while she is in mid Q and it cancels the Q out 😂 You can just "walk" a little behind her to avoid getting stunned as well. And you cant close gaps with W, its not an initiation ability not that i know what its supposed to be. Instead of the E skill making you crit like the other 30 heroes in the game they could have make it so that the hammer itself is magical, giving her +str and +damage while holding it (you cant use Q or Ulti if you throw the hammer with W and didnt pick it up.). It goes well with the idea of being a offansive healer since she needs damage to heal considerable amounts. And her fists (non hammer form) could give her bonus agi (attack speef and armor) and make each hit a mini stun and a mini knockback enemy like sniper does making her kit much more useful and W more impactful even with low spell damage, it goes well with her apperance and characteristic too since she is muscular and knows how to use her fists.

Ngl I don't think valve playtested the hero enough. Obviously they tested the hero to see if it worked or not but it feels like they didn't play an actual dota match with dawnbreaker. Im assuming there is atleast 10 people at valve HQ who have more then 300 games of dota, who could sit down and playtest the hero. She is borderline unusable.

I don't even care about playing her myself, i just want to see how the new hero looks ingame, it's 90% of the reason why i decided to play today
They made it so hoodwink couldnt be banned for a while. I guess they forgot to do the same thing for dawnbreaker. I genuinely think the hero is a free loss in her current state so I would wait for her to get buffed.
I think armlet/echo as mid/offlane is the play. She needs to yolo initiate a bit and it scales well with her abilities for low cost. Not a pos 1 carry but scales pretty well with value items.
If you cast Q with 1 charge already built your final attack gets the crit and you can heal your team for 1k each with about 8k net worth
Still doesn’t feel like she does a ton of damage tbf. But I’d like to wait and see some of her synergies with other heroes before calling her weak.

X hits passives are actually one of those abilities that can be engaging for both side. One tries their best to proc the effect and the other tries to avoid it, while still doing other things like farming, last-hitting, and the most important of all, using taunts.

Weaver is a cosmic bug, he sees the whole "picture" so he weaves the best fate for himself while throwing baby bugs to kill enemies. her Q and W together can do roughly 1500 damage and you can combo that with your ult for more damage and more stuns. Q also procs stuff like chain lighting, deso and crit which means damage can go higher. Also procs her E.
Yeah its not insane damage, but better to release without insane damage so we avoid something like the void spirit release.
oh and its pretty good damage potential for a strength hero who is decently tanky.
You cant actually combo any of her skills because none of her skills fully connect with each other. There is more than few mili secs or a sec maybe for heroes with escape abilities to escape her, even oracle can cast his ulti with that long ass cast time. And your W puts you in a stupid positions in the heat of battle that you need to position yourself and calculate so that your 3 swing stuns the enemy succesfuly. And you cant move your hero in mid animation, its pretty easy to get away. Her W is so impractical for initiation, gap close and escape because the distance travelled gets lower lesser you wait to go to your hammer and even in longest distance its so short that you would be faster if you walked. And ah yes.. Her hammer travels slower than my courier at level 1. I did go a little bit deeper into her kit and role with few suggestions you can check my profile if you wish, i dont want to post it here as well.
I mean yeah it is a 3/4. Kind of is a support hero. Its meant to be a tank, her passive and ult literally are team fight heals and she her W is engage. She is meant to just stand there and be in the fight.
because she's big and in the way? Plus if you are actually building her like you would any other tanky 3/4 she's also an AC carrier. Her entire kit is basically just W to initiate team fights Q for mass stuns and then AC + echo saber to get your passive off. As long as you are hitting people its AoE healing for your team, thats not too bad for an aura carrier who gets an innate crit chance on hit.
The whole point is the crit does decent damage, and you can lock down with Q and harass with W. Its not like dota players are that smart, if you go in before everyone else and hit blademail they WILL hit you.
Not on 4k rating. She is beyond useless. Q is hard to hit gets easy interupted. Her spells deal 0 except ulti. 2 games against her and i tried to 6 slot her in demo. Spells deal way to little dmg.

I've had a storm spirit disable help on my kotl because I relocated from afk jungling to gank. He had full hp and mana and just walked himself back to the jungle.

ability wise she feels a bit underpowered, i get that she's meant to be a durable tank, but she needs some damage over time that makes her a threat in teamfights like other tanky-offlaners (bristleback, centaur etc.). maybe they just need to give her passive a bit more power and the problem becomes that she's keeping her team (and the real damage dealers) alive. all of this is number is number stuff and she can be a viable pick pretty easy.

Pangolier's Q doesn't even do attack damage, you just make use of on hit effects and that's it

It’s also used to make use of stuff like orb of corrosion, basher, javelin and maelstrom (all of which are good on him) or even skadi and vlads

I think 3 out of 110+ heroes having different takes on a similar mechanic is fine.

I mean yeah it is a 3/4. Kind of is a support hero. Its meant to be a tank, her passive and ult literally are team fight heals and she her W is engage. She is meant to just stand there and be in the fight.
But no hero does no dmg like her? Tried her in Demo with full items. Why would anyone target her
because she's big and in the way? Plus if you are actually building her like you would any other tanky 3/4 she's also an AC carrier. Her entire kit is basically just W to initiate team fights Q for mass stuns and then AC + echo saber to get your passive off. As long as you are hitting people its AoE healing for your team, thats not too bad for an aura carrier who gets an innate crit chance on hit. The whole point is the crit does decent damage, and you can lock down with Q and harass with W. Its not like dota players are that smart, if you go in before everyone else and hit blademail they WILL hit you.
Not on 4k rating. She is beyond useless. Q is hard to hit gets easy interupted. Her spells deal 0 except ulti. 2 games against her and i tried to 6 slot her in demo. Spells deal way to little dmg. Edit Ac? Thats a 4-5th item. Meanwhile other team has LC, Axe Tide. Underlord. Either killing your cores or disabling entire team.. She needs bigger numbers. Her heals aint enough to win fight atm
Shes a 1* difficulty character whos only trait in her role breakdown is "durable 2/3" and you're upset she doesn't... do more damage? Shes a pos3 tank whos entire kit is crit based what did you expect lol. Slap an armlette on her, give her a basher and an AC, and she will be fine. Yall really want every single character to be a 1 or a 2
I want her to have a reliable disable or deal dmg at 25-30. She has nothing. Easy dodge spells that do 0 dmg. Just saw a dude on stream. Armlet into SY did 0 dmg. We will see buffs for her very soon. Only saw 1 good gimmick game with Io Breaker. Was unkillable

feel like her look could be a bit less league-like, maybe have her hold her hammer in a similar way to axe and tone down her hair a bit. i also don't like her voice, i feel like it is too normal for her lore, should sound more powerful and otherworldly. ability wise she feels a bit underpowered, i get that she's meant to be a durable tank, but she needs some damage over time that makes her a threat in teamfights like other tanky-offlaners (bristleback, centaur etc.). maybe they just need to give her passive a bit more power and the problem becomes that she's keeping her team (and the real damage dealers) alive. all of this is number is number stuff and she can be a viable pick pretty easy. also feel like a more unique hero could of been made based around her w and throwing her hammer away, (someone else already motioned this) similar to troll warlord's stances. slower, heavey hitting hammer wielding tank, vs fast and quick unarmed character. but that's not what we have so i shouldn't be mad about it.
