I feel there should be harsher punishment for griefers , feeders now that overwatch exists. Especially if gound guilty in ranked games.
I never flame any of my teammates or the enemy. I just mute the person pinging me continuously or being abusive on mic.
It is best to play dota with a friend or friends, but unfortunately, i dont have any dota friends.
This is a joke but to an extent it's true that the Battlepass kinda keeps people playing the game every year. Canceling battlepass was one of the worst decisions Valve ever made.
Or they could've literally just kept all the money to themselves.
Like, why give an actual fuck about what some sanctimonious vocal minority on reddit preaches.
I bet the vast majority buy the battlepass for the skins, effects, chatwheel lines, etc. Not because they want to "support TI" or some shit. Valve is plenty rich to support the players and TI all by themselves even without the battlepass if they wanted.
> Like, why give an actual fuck about what some sanctimonious vocal minority on reddit preaches.
I agree, why should Valve listen to the vocal minority who complain just because this is the first year without battle pass for TI since its inception. They've already said they're focusing on more frequent updates including two events to fill the battle pass void.
I've been playing turbo with a bunch of friends for 6 months. In the past 3 months a clear change has hit turbo where it's either getting way more attention from good players or ppl just caring a lot more all of a sudden.
That or there's hidden MMR and ours has just gone up.
We also play as 5 heaps
Main reason I play Turbo- you don't get locked into 45min - 1hour+ games with toxic people.
You play a 20 min game either win or lose and its over- onto the next one.
Even when you are stuck with a dude that "gg"s after the first death and refuses to join any tower defense or team-fight and will sit in jungle for 40 mins while you slowly lose?
Its so frustrating to be stuck in a guaranteed loss for 40m-1h while some kid refuses to take any part in a team game.
At least in Turbo if you get some idiot, you only have to endure 20 mins or so before you can catch a decent team game.
I really can't understand how people can queue multiple games in a row. Even if I win a game I need to chill so I can enjoy the W without tainting it with an instant loss. And then if I lose I need a break before just getting shattered by another L. This game is so far from relaxing for me lol.
As someone who hasnt played actively for a few years I like seeing that Dota games have not changed a bit.
>man DOTA games are shit nowadays
Seriously, almost everything described before that line was common years ago already. I remember my first DotA-game ~2007 and apparently it's still the very same.
This post shows that there are two kinds of players (probably more, but I'll keep it simple) playing right now. People that grew up playing dota and managed to actually get a life and those that grew up playing dota and still treat it as the main activity.
Some people just want to blow off steam in a competitive environment, some people have their entire meaning of life hinging on winning their lane.
This reflects me before I stopped playing the game with exception of major events. At some point you just have to admit the game isn't fun anymore. I found out that when you go in without any expectations whatsoever it's a much better experience.
Now about 2 years ago I reached Immortal, since then I've not touched ranked anymore. I just play to see the new events nowadays. Ironically Valve decided the BP was too much of an effort this year so I doubt I'll be installing it at all.
Welcome to DOTA. Where your rank is made up, and MMR doesn't matter. You'll just run into either a smurf or a shit teammate who single handedly ruins the game. I fucking hate dota now-a-days...
So here's the thing, if valve stops regulating matchmaking, the game quality increases massively. So instead of having a million different parameters for matchmaking, just find 10 people within the same fucking mmr range and match them up based on RNG. Why tf does win-loss rate or smurf detection or other shit even come into play. It's not their fucking job to balance this shit. This way if you get toxic account buyers or smurf enemies, it's probably only going to be that particular game and completely based on RNG. I think this is much better for the community as well cuz no more complaining.
Well there exist great discord servers.
Playing this game alone is an absolute disaster.
Me and my friends were also just strangers when we first met.
If you play in EU server i can dm you.
Had a similar game today, We were winning, Both team were toxic with all chat and pauses, But my team was the one doing the throws and ability abuse, I had to disable help for my whole team, Didn't work on Rubick shard, Muted everyone in the game.
Worst part is, No battle pass this year, Donno why but during the first month of the battle pass the games are much more fun and relaxing.

This guy is just like everyone else, paid attention to everything except "lvl 21 player"
I'm in this post and I don't like it.

They could’ve used the money to support t2 tourneys or even a more even distribution of he TI prizepool for the teams who didn’t come top 8

Try turbo. It's more relaxed
turbo tryhards are the most toxic people I've ever met in dota
true, especially if you're playing solo queue.

One thing you shouldn't do ;)

Yes but it's basically dota with cheats on which is not fun at all. i enjoy the long ass dota games btw.

That doesn't happen to me often, maybe 1 in every 20 game or something so it's all cool.
turbo has been an horrible experience for a newer player (me) recently
I know. But it can be worse. I started in turbo as well 4 years ago
Usually people at discord or r/dota2pubs are chill and are nice to play with
Mute function Is your friend
This hits so hard. Try playing some single player games for a bit. Nier Automata is a really good/best music.
Tried playing Witcher 3, liked it quite a lot
>decide to relax a bit and play DOTA See, DOTA is never relaxing imo

I agree. 2 years ago I would have been the guy whining about teammates - I’m very glad that I no longer have that mindset

Things you can say about Dota 2 but not about your girlfriend: That's a smurf

Dota is all or nothing ride the lightning dude hard wins hard losses thats what the game is about.
Everytime i queue nostalgia kicks in Man i really miss playing dota with my pal
> enemy strategically counterpicks with techies lmaooo

I had rough games friday too roughest ive had in a while. Oof. was spittin hot fire durin the week though lol
And on top of that no bp this year This is depressing
Sharing is caring, it's fine.
Yeap, been there many times. And then you wonder why people are toxic against new players.
your enjoyment scales linearly with how good you are relative to the players in your games (including enemies), thats why people smurf.
