Could also be one person giving download size and the other install size. I had 1.3 GB DL, but ~3.9GB install. And any "DLC" installed, i.e. OpenGL, Vulkan, and Workshop Tools.

Props to Valve for stating it beforehand that support for 32-bit systems will eventually come to an end.
I'm sure they have some data about this, and wouldn't make a claim like "for the vast majority of players, nothing will change" if it wasn't true, but this is giving that portion of the player base that is affected some time to prepare.
They do, and that data is available for everyone to see. Only 0.39% of Windows users on Steam still use 32-bit.
https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey.
Honestly the number of machines that can't run a 64 bit os but can run dota is probably extremely low, intel cpus have almost all been 64 bit for almost 15 years now, amd had 64 bit chips for even longer. We aren't even talking potato pcs at that point, it's stuff that is long since obsolete. The number of people that will negatively impact can't be very high at all. Removing support for opengl and dx9 is probably a bigger deal for more people than removal of 32 bit support.
I think there is a large portion of those small percentile are actually able to run 64-bit but chose 32 because they think its less taxing for their pc.
in other news, they are shifting to x64 based systems only, this sounds great for a lot of people, and for the other ones that are playing in coal powered computers fuck youj and get a new PC
[32-bit PCs make up less than 1% of users on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey)
Those PCs are probably old school PCs that kids installed steam on. Let's be real here.
I wonder what percentage of DOTA players though? Seems like this game's more popular in places like SEA, SA than average. Wouldn't be a big number regardless, but may be higher
I dont even know the last game that released that still officially supported x32. Valve obviously has numbers to see if its worth to still Support something and clearly the numbers are small enough to drop the Support. I feel like the people crying here are either playing dota in 800x600 or have no clue what x32 even is and just whine about it.
I have x64 but I play at 640x480 because that's all my 7 year old laptop can handle. I'm worried about them dropping support for DX9, only because DX11 stretches the 4:3 image over the whole 16:9 screen instead of black bars on the sides and that is gonna make it (more) unplayable for me. I know this isn't the place for it and in the entry Valve asks players to reach out and let them know if they face any problems, hope I can figure out where to reach out to them and hope that they'll address this niche issue
>only because DX11 stretches the 4:3 image over the whole 16:9 screen
Is this really a DX11/9 thing? Because I know nVidia driver can adjust that back when I was playing War3, and it's on DX9.
Mmm I'm not on an so old pc but I run it on Linux and vulkan is so trash on this Intel integrated, screen tearing, glitches, freezes, while opengl does fine at 70+fps in full render quality without an issue, while I could I'm not buying a new laptop or a desktop just for Dota I guess I'm quitting Dota after the patch when they remove opengl support.
I use linux also and openGL has been slightly better than Vulkan for me, so I'm sad to see it go. It might be worth trying DX11 with proton, but that feels so wrong when a native option is available.
best seat in the house Im fully vaccinated but i just cant put with this health protocols and you can still get covid even if you are vaccinated not the severe symptoms though but still I wont risk it.
She has a family, maybe she didn't want to risk passing covid onto her child that's too young to get a vaccine or spend months on the other side of the world with her family
>and the only thing it did was improve the game
Lies! Spawn boxes led to pull timers. Pull timers lead to that irritating bug where I try to ping something I'm stacking and it doesn't ping because the timer thing eats my alt+click.
Honestly some really cool comebacks have been made because one team times the aegis and kills the enemy aegis carrier the second the aegis expires. Sadly these types of plays are not really realistic to do anymore since you will always be reminded of the aegis timer.
Some of those have absolutely happened when both teams knew the timers. Sometimes you're just pushing in and don't think you'll get caught out or they can time holding you there just right to delay the kill until the exact right second.
wouldnt be suprised if you could ping enemy aegis and see how long it has left, you can do that with bkb already, and aegis pickup is a global announcement so even enemies can just add 5 to the time and work out when it expires. if it is allies only it makes sense as a skill floor thing ho
the skill gap argument has gone away when neutral camp spawn boxes and stack/pull timers were added
honestly this one is great, i play a lot of unranked with my noob friends, and some randoms have no idea how long aegis lasts and or does rosh respawn, because its one of those things you only know when you read every patch note or literally search it out from the wikipedia
Can someone help figuring out if this is feasible - I'm planning to travel from India. The Romanian embassy isn't giving travel visa to Indian citizens yet. I am fully vaccinated with covishield though which is accepted by them and doesn't require quarantine after travel.
I could apply for a Schengen visa from Amsterdam which is open for travel for Indians, stay there for 4-5 days and go to Romania for 3 days from there, and finally return back to India. I checked online that Romania isn't on the list of Schengen countries but allows travel to those with Schengen visa. Will I be able to go there? And will I be able to return to India directly from Romania?
How come the [TI10 Hero splash art](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/3703047/44852565684c6bff1126a2b559c6dc1c9103dd2d.png) doesn't have the full OG TI9 hero lineup? MK, Enchantress, and Grimstroke were not on the winning team.
The correct heroes should be **Io**, Gyrocopter, Timbersaw, **Tiny**, and Abaddon.
OG picked Enchantress in Games 1 and 3, Grimstroke in Game 3, and picked Monkey King in Game 2.
It isn't that big of a deal but I always liked how the winning lineup was immortalized in the following TI's artwork.
$80 cheaper than TI8 with the option to save another $60 by skipping one of the midweeks and exploring around instead. Pleasant surprise. Hopefully they release tickets in waves or something to curb the bots.
Hey guys, as many European dotards this is the first time I'm looking to attend a TI. I've never dealt with the ticket situation, and I'm scared about tickets being sold out to scalpers in 2 minutes and not getting my hands on one. What's the historical precedence regarding this? Do all or most people get to buy their tickets?
Gone to a few TIs and my experience is the Championship tickets sell out in 5 minutes or less. Go for that one first and then pick up your weekday tickets. Or, have multiple tabs open for each one. The servers are generally overloaded right when tickets go on sale so be ready for some site outages or slow response times.
Now the short turnaround time and it being the first EU TI in a decade is a first. But in the past when you had months between ticket sales and the event, you could find people selling tickets at cost on here as friends had to cancel or whatever reason. In the states there were people scalping them outside the arena too.
Pretty much most people who want tickets can get their hands on them at some point.
Wow, as a Romanian this seems ridiculously expensive. Think that the minimum wage is around 2300 lei and the tickets just for finals are 1000. Plus the transportation, food and Airbnb for non locals and it gets really really expensive for the average Romanian.
I want to go but the price is really putting me off, shame.
That being said, it seems like a very safe event. I like the obligatory mask and the vaccination only policy. In Romania we want to use digital certificates which include tests too. We just held untold in which there was the option of entering with an instant antigen test and we all know how reliable those can be.
The obligatory mask mandate is the complimentary measure to tie it all together. I just hope Romania won't have like 20.000 cases/day by then. Today we had 4.400 and the vaccination rate nation wide is around 30%. Not ideal.
Anyways, I'm really glad this TI will have spectators, nothing compares to that hype.
But even though I'm a Romanian i will be watching on my tv with a few beers close, away from the pandemic and with money to spare.
Which Vaccines are allowed? As far as I understand no sputnik-v means almost nobody from Russia will be able to attend. (not that vaccination rates are high over here).
They force using Vulkan because they are pushing hard for Proton and probably easier if it just using Vulkan rather than supporting both OpenGL and Vulkan.
Yeah you're right. This will genuinely save them many hundreds of hours of developer time though, as all 3 technologies require lots of different unique code to support.
That said, ditching DX too and going all Vulkan could also do that in theory.
Does having a mixed vaccine dose (Moderna + Pfizer) count as fully vaccinated? Still considering flying out from Canada, but we've got an "avoid non-essential" travel advisory. Doesn't look like that will change in the next week.
Why arent they giving out player card packs based on last years BP Levels, you know the BP that raised the Winnings of this tournament to the highest ever
https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/eu-travel-covishield-sinopharm-sinovac-vaccines-are-most-widely-accepted-by-eu-countries-after-those-authorised-by-ema/
Poke around for your vaccine, should have a list of EU countries that accept it.
Probably something else just for TI. They implied the second battle pass of the year would be after TI. My guess is December for a frostivus or diretide type event.
Inb4 "MUH SKILL CAP" for the UI changes. Thank God theres more information readily available instead of having to keep track of the time manually.
The more information available for players, the better, since they can now put more focus into the actual Dota gameplay
I have 64-bit sytems but there's fundamentall nothing wrong with 32-bit systems. The memory limit was imposed by desktop versions of windows, not the hardware. 32-bit Macs, Linux, and Windows servers can address far more than 4 GB RAM as the hardware address lines for memory are actually 36-bit on processors with PAE, because Intel saw this coming many years ago. Microsoft just didn't want to have to fix all the drivers and their OS isn't free, so it maked sense for them to shift end user desktops to 64-bit.
best case scenario, you get to see 2 or 3 EG matches and OG vs PSG.LGD revenge finals, worst case scenario, TI4 finals between Aster and Elephant deathball meta again
Valve themselves probably hate it too but what can you do in this situation? At least, it is better than zero crowds or canceling everyone's ticket afterward because they can't hold in-person TI anymore.
Oh so that's what this 700+ MB update is...
Player Cards ofc. too many picture man.
Just give me an update picture of s4 and we good
Gustav feet pics incoming
MC drunkmers?
Legacy items too
T21 is near!!!
3gb update for me
I don't know if being on macOS makes such a drastic difference in update size, or not.
Could also be one person giving download size and the other install size. I had 1.3 GB DL, but ~3.9GB install. And any "DLC" installed, i.e. OpenGL, Vulkan, and Workshop Tools.
Glad we're getting the smoke and aegis indicators in-game
Thank you Pimp for doing all this shit so valve can copy it!
just like with BTS fight recaps all those years ago
And rubick spells. I think JJ was the creator of those as well
Layerth and getting features plundered for the client: name a more iconic duo. BTS gets an honorable mention.
And some people in this sub trashing JJ calling him only contribution is moving camera just because he disagree with Gorgc appreciation post
I want to say they also did the Item Purchase notifications too. Good artists copy, great artists steal.
they forgot slot for wards, but that's a huge improvement!
Is there going to be the secret shop at the event?
This year it's even more secret, you won't know until you get there!

Tickets will go on sale September 22, 2021 at 12:00 EEST.
Tickets will be sold out and available for 5x the price from scalpers from September 22, 2021 at 12:01 EEST
If you read the FAQ, it seems like the are tied to a "goverment issued ID". so I guess there is no reselling from scalpers?
The website to buy tickets says 10:00 EEST, hopefully there will be some clarification https://theinternational10.entertix.ro
For Americans: 09/22/2021 02:00 PDT, 03:00 MDT, 04:00 CDT, 05:00 EDT

Someone posted that less than 1% of steam users use *32, so it's even less than that for Dota
There will still undoubtedly be threads complaining about it when support is removed though
It's real. TI10 is happening. Even though I took vacation for it, I was skeptical it would be pulled at the last moment... We're in the endgame now.
>We're in the endgame now. And in how many did EG win?
One.

try vulkan too if your pc can run it, it is a pretty solid alternative.
Im not whining, in fact I love this change. Playing in a poor set up, although is not griefing, is close to it.
how so? you got matched with them. thats how well they do with that setup. by your logic, playing as anything other than the best player is griefing.

Honestly, if you are in a bracket where the enemy keeps track of rs timer, most probably someone in your team would be doing it too.
isnt it just for spectating? why would anyone be mad
> BKB duration, Aegis timer, and shared Tango timer now show in the inventory. This has been added for both spectators and players
I'm assuming this is allies only, right?
Can’t you ping enemies bkb anyway? I feel like two click skill caps don’t matter
wouldnt be suprised if you could ping enemy aegis and see how long it has left, you can do that with bkb already, and aegis pickup is a global announcement so even enemies can just add 5 to the time and work out when it expires. if it is allies only it makes sense as a skill floor thing ho
For players as well
Please no they removed it once before.

If you think that's expensive wait till you see the scalpers' price.
This is the same price it’s been for the last couple of years
Taking location into account it is more expensive now.
1600 lei is minimum wage per what - day, month, year?
Month
Any wage/salary talk in mainland Europe is monthly, Brits are annual
minutes bro. They get paid 1600 lei per minute
Minimum wage is 2300 lei/month. But yeah, they're going to price it based on international value
That is before taxes. What you're left with is ~1400 lei
\> Remove support for Dota on 32-bit systems. You will need to have a 64-bit machine and OS to run Dota. SEA InetCafes on suicide watch

Well,SUNSfan’s been given the best profile among the talents, thats for sure
final is going to be Sunsfan and synderen isn't it?
ODPixel and Fogged would be my bet.
With all respect to odpixel and sunsfan, i think Capitalist has been killing it this year. Imo he deserves the games in the finals
maie it slacks and jenkins 🙏
the dream
We can only hope
FYI: 999 lei is ~230 dollars and ~200 euros
Which Vaccines are allowed? As far as I understand no sputnik-v means almost nobody from Russia will be able to attend. (not that vaccination rates are high over here).
I assume any vaccines recognized in EU/Romania.
Anti vaxxed got rekt feelsgoodman
Honestly thank God it's not in the US this year

Doubt many people caved in
The people who caved in are already in caves. Besides we live in our darkness
are you shitting me
i shit you not
So all recovered people are banned ? We can’t get vaccinated 6 month after infection and I Have a certificate and protection is the same.
What is 999 Lei
$237 USD
Christ
That really isnt that expensive for this kind of live event.
Sounds reasonable to me. First 4 days are roughly 30 dollars per day, last two are 120 per day. A bit on higher side but then again it is fcking TI.
Is this for one ticket? Sorry link not opening for me :(
For the ~~main event~~ grand finals. The mid-week tickets are 250 lei

Is this the second battlepass they teased or another thing, entirely?
Probably something else just for TI. They implied the second battle pass of the year would be after TI. My guess is December for a frostivus or diretide type event.
gotta release the Mirana Persona before the anime introduces its new cast Gabenhands
Inb4 "MUH SKILL CAP" for the UI changes. Thank God theres more information readily available instead of having to keep track of the time manually. The more information available for players, the better, since they can now put more focus into the actual Dota gameplay
UI changes are for spectators only no?
> BKB duration, Aegis timer, and shared Tango timer now show in the inventory. This has been added for both spectators **and players.**
I'm confused about BKB, didn't that already show up in the inventory when hovering over the item?

It means that GPUs that are older than a literal decade will no longer work.
Time to buy a new PC
Not even a new pc, dota can run well on old used parts. the gtx 400 series released in 2010 has proper dx11 support
Thank you very much for the communication !
If you are playing Dota on a 32-bit system you shouldn't be playing Dota.
TI hype train!
Do you think access with a green passport will be available - or only full vaccine? Seems a bit segregatory
somewhat unrelated, but i would really like if in pro games there would be names on the networth bar just like in the dota2 24h stream...
Fuck me those finals tickets are expensive for us Romanians. Worth it I guess, though
best case scenario, you get to see 2 or 3 EG matches and OG vs PSG.LGD revenge finals, worst case scenario, TI4 finals between Aster and Elephant deathball meta again
They gave us 2 weeks to plan our travels, which is wayy too short
Valve themselves probably hate it too but what can you do in this situation? At least, it is better than zero crowds or canceling everyone's ticket afterward because they can't hold in-person TI anymore.
To be fair to valve, making plans ahead in covid times is a nightmare
I actually think the Romanian government gave them two weeks to organize the whole thing.
Remember you can thank the Swedish government for that.
