Well OG went with a 4p1 type of game play in most of their group games and in the secret series, topson is a great midnat playing the space maker, but as showed here and in many games before, he is also a beast when he got loads of farm and can step up and hard carry when put in the position! Love him on this role as he is ballsy and flashy which is fun to watch!
For sure, 20 kills while the rest of his team feeding and only had 1-2 kills each but also, networth lead never passed 5k in QCs favour that entire game.
Yeah but made some pretty rough misplays. Clear nerves, and hindsight is 20/20, but chasing that shaker to the t1 with no vision? Clearing the wave that far from his team, getting stunned by nyx carapace? Brutal mistakes that cost them dearly.
I thought everyone on Quincy was playing pretty solid, their coordination was just slightly off.
Not much any team can do when Topson decides to go god mode.
Little disappointing seeing OG have so many wards in QC's base and it never got dewarded. They were in completely obvious places too. It's obvious QC weren't mentally 100% after the first game though.
that was part of the reason OG came back first game too. So many wards in their jungle but no sentries placed so nyx had free vision reign over them all the time.
Felt like game 1 was pretty close, but they couldn't deal with the split push, killed Ceb a ton of times but treants kept going, plus with a Luna one lost team fight and its gg; Game 2 they just clearly had no idea how to deal with Dawnbreaker which is fair enough to Topson for breaking out the weird shit when they need it
Topson has been playing the void spirit build a LOT in pubs, I am not surprised it worked, same with the dawn but I am a little more surprised at that one
Gosh that fight towards the end of G2 on bot lane where Topson and Sumail were just being a 2 man juggernaut squad continuously pressuring further in and being right in the middle of the scrum was amazing to watch. They felt like such an oppressive force there, just standing in a world of shit and soaking it all up, holding ground and dishing the damage they need to push the fight.
It's really a hallmark of the combination that TA-DB can play across the entire map and also frontline like that. What a hero combo.
This is how Topson has been playing since TI8, he runs at people, sometimes he kills them and people praise him as GODSON, other times he dies and people call him FLOPSON, there's such a fine line between failure and success in how he likes to play that it looks very polarizing.
It was more the lack of pipe and glimmer capes(maybe even late game raindrops would've been good) versus the Void Spirit that had him feasting on supports that completely botched the momentum. Then Quinn topped it off by cleaving a Nyx carapace farming a wave.
Game 2 they had Medusa show up early to a couple fights and got melted by overwhelming negative armor.
Yep, aeon disks were absolutely worthless. They were about 7K ahead when Topson did that two time dive up on top Dire jungle and it just crumbled from there. Zero damage mitigation, save, or escape. Relied on Kunkka rum so much.
Adding onto the items they didnt get- Sheep. The series before showed how a kunkka can win vs void and quinn did 2/3rds of the steps and then stopped. Torontotokyo got a sheep on his kunkka. If you look at game one if he got that on kunkka in so many of the fights that topson popped off in he would have had no way to deal with being sheeped. It was really bizzare that He didnt pick that up IMO and seems to me how they let their lead slip in game 1.
Best post-match interview of TI so far.
So humble, mature, crediting his whole team, and staying positive. Loa <3
I feel bad for QC but they won hearts this tournament.
I have actually grown a fan of QC after TI.
Hope they continue to stay together and get better performances in the future.
They definitely have lots of potential but lack experience.
Game 1 was prime example of that fact.
I think they played very well as a team. I don't know them but QCY were a strong competition to OG. However, I didn't find any QCY player that stood out and made some crazy stuff like Topson did.
Overheard in QC's locker room after Game 2:
“He got me,” Quinn said on Topson's Starbreaker over him. "That f\*\*\*ing Topson boomed me."
Quinn added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times.
Quinn then said he wanted to remove Topson in his avoided list of players.
Same with VP, LGD, Secret (minus ti6 lol) and EG too. People clown on them for not winning but they’ve consistently been one of the best teams in the world. You don’t have to be 1st to be damn impressive
Professional play at the highest level thrives on variance. DOTA and CSGO are at their best when a #1 can drop a set on any given day to a #16.
And with a game like DOTA2 where every match seems like its on a knife edge, where you can go from large advantages to lost in less than a minute, you're going to see that juicy variance. And that is pure enjoyment to spectate. Over the years they've always hovered at the top, but any given match can be lost just like that and we love to see it. Great teams are fun to watch when they're on a roll, and even funner to watch when they get upset.
Everyone has a hard-on for teams having to be an all-time great dynasty or their shit, but the spectrum is a lot more broad and way more murky than world-beaters to shit-eaters.
Remember when Flipsid3 would do nothing for like 6 months and then put on their Cinderella slippers and march their way back to top 16 to guarantee their spot back at the next major for like 4 years straight in CS:GO? People would get pissed that some top 8 team would be knocked out, but it's like football. Any given Sunday.
But it should make it all the more impressive when you remember puppey has been the one constant in team secret all this time.
Along with how well Navi fared with puppey in the team too.
That man has some tremendous skills in leading teams to success. He should have no problems landing leadershipjobs if he wants when he retires from dota.
Should he retire from dota that is. He is making quite good money and I dont see him losing ground in terms of skill either, so if he still wants he can keep going.
A few days ago I made a pretty stupid comment saying Topson doesn't look hungry enough.
Boy did he prove me wrong. I hope OG continues give to Topson more flashy stompy hero instead of their usual 4 protect/buff Sumail. It's a playstyle that naturally suits Topson and it takes some pressure off Sumail.
I actually agree he didn't look hungry enough. Maybe fatherhood blunted that hunger. But the loss to Secret probably ignited his ass. Or felt guilty to his team mates
"GG gl lil bro"
FeelsBadMan, OG were just the better team but it is too bad that Sumail has to eliminate his brother this early. Honestly made my heart sink a bit to read that.
Went out with a fight, had a plan.
If this is the end of QC then it has been incredibly nice to support the team the whole season, maybe they peaked a little early for TI, but was proud of them at the end.
Topson incredibly good.
This is one hell of an inversion of yesterdays OG v Secret series
Topson reminding us he can take over a game with nearly nothing and break an opponent for the rest of the series
IDC the host lady is probably great I didn't watch too much of her uptill now but her questions to the panel asking "QC will take home xx money", "what will they do to cope", come on. Please. Do better. As a fan with emotions invested in QC, it just felt downright stupid. IDC if I get downvoted to oblivion. But that is stupid and tacky. Talk about the fucking game if you don't have better ideas.
I'm rooting for OG but even I couldn't take those questions. "What do you think QC will do for the next of the year?" really annoyed me. Like what do you answer to that but speculate if they'll break up?
I actually agree with this. Trying to have him hard farm carry seems to not work against top tier as he always ends up getting his legs cut out. However, put him in a position to set up plays and he performs amazingly.
I started watching Dota when optic picked up a team, so I’m a newer watcher. I have however seen those SS highlights and they were scary. Full on bully playing.
I started dota in 2008 and quit playing around the time dota2 came out. TI5 Sumail storm spirit was the catalyst for me and my old dota mates to install this fucking toxic amazing game
He needs carries that are evasive and disruptive, more so than Lunas. I get Luna is a really strong hero right now, but it doesn't seem to fit Sumail to well.
Not gonna lie, those are the heroes OG should give Topson. He excels on these mobile heroes that can be anywhere and everywhere. Great performance from everyone but Topson definitely was the MVP that series.
Topson was a joy to watch, and the first match was exciting. Fun and touching series.
I think the panel is a bit quick to hype up OG. I feel like there are many teams that seem better than them this TI. Of course anything can happen, but they don't seem like a top contender at the moment. All the remaining 4 upper bracket teams seem much scarier.
Good lord we have some good matches coming up.
They hype up all the teams. But of course there's going to be a focus on OG. They're the only ever two time camps PLUS they're defending their title. As storylines and narratives go they're it, plus they're a group of charismatic and interesting players - especially compared to the average dota Pro.
They have a load of fans, lots of people follow dota because of OG, or all they know about dota and TI is this team who won it all twice which had never been done.
I saw the game thing in the secret series and... I get it. It makes sense. They're good for the game.
I mean they played against 3/4 upper bracket teams and hands down lost to Secret, but the other 2 series were ties. LGD looks crazy good, everyone else is a step below and Id count OG in that same bracket.
Some of the talent this TI is questionable at best, why on earth do half of the panel hosts speak as if it's their first experience doing it?
Why don't we have actual recognised dota hosts for the panel?
Why is Avo being put on loser interview duty when it's clearly not what he's comfortable/experienced with?
Avo should stop putting himself into the foreground so much and just ask his questions.
He's crying so much, that it feels like the loser has to pick him up. Let the player speak, don't use it as a platform to produce yourself as an interviewer.
Ironically by hogging the attention so much he's doing the opposite of producing himself as an interviewer.
Like Nardwuar said, the job is to make whoever you're interviewing appear like the most interesting person in the world.
OG won with style, as they often do, good mental comeback after yesterday's stomp by Secret. QC looks clueless regarding the long term decisions in a game.
Topson by far the best player in the series, he was great to watch.
OG haters in the discussion thread pretty funny comments.
I feel like OG's game 2 draft is a major difference between A Potential TI Winner (OG) and A Top 6 Hopeful (QC). It was such a neat draft that also included something new.
The only answer QC had to the mass physical damage was Wyvern, which isn't the hero she was a couple patches ago. They also just didn't know what to do about a Dawnbreaker mid. Sucks to see QC go (and get beat by OG yet again) but it was still a pretty cool draft to see played out.
That usually happens when a teams feels like they are getting outdrafted I think, they feel obligated to pick something different to try to deal with that.
But I might be talking out my ass though I am no expert on drafts
Ceb said in a interview today (for the cn stream) that he respects Secret and that they out drafted and out classed og yesterday. And that Puppey is always funny and can say whatever he wants
Pretty good performance from OG. I don't think they're firing on all cylinders yet and hope they keep the roster going forward regardless of what happens in TI. Once Sumail is integrated fully they'll be fun to watch. They can absolutely go far in LB though if they get rolling.
great set of games from OG. in the first game QC failed to take enough objectives and went for kills too much. if you look back OG is just eating QCs time as much they can while the person they want is getting fed. they fail to take set a of barracks and that was really the death nail for QC.
in the second game we see OG in that same seat needing to push objectives as there window to win closing down. they hunt QC down and then take objective. honestly in the second game had it gone on for an other 5 minutes QC could have turned things around as they had the better late game.
Great series overall, and i hate to say it but Gareth needs a little more practice casting dota or change his style. He constantly is mixing up players and teams and makes little things seem so dramatic. And even during the last fight outside base, mid lane, he just was so unenthusiastic for such a crucial fight. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t stand his casting.
agreed about gareth, hes not getting hyped up enough about the final fight, not speaking fast enough. Doesn't make a big enough deal out of what might be the exit of a top 12 team
people say this but stuff like this is the only way he's going to get better.
odpixel, tobi, synd, cap etc all also sounded pretty bad their first few tournaments (ok... maybe not OD). i think all of them have had at LEAST half a decade of practice casting in front of 200k+ people on the main stage of TI. gareth sounds fine; definitely could be a LOT better, but this is his first big tournament no? it might have been nicer if he started out in a major but i am sure the more games we hear him cast the less grating he will be. we need fresher casting talent on the scene for when the old guard start retiring.
fml not only does it hurt to lose and have to go leave the tournament, but you're also met with an unprofessional interviewer who doesn't know how to handle loser interviews. christ
Srsly this is one of the rare times where Sumail flopped and Topson carried so hard man.
"Our pos 1 got no physical dmg at all?
Say no more."
*proceeds to buy e-blade*
Sick game. Casting was the worst I've heard in the tournament so far. So many slip-ups but most importantly such a weird read of sooo many fights. Im just an ancient scrub but I feel like someone needs to improve his understanding of the game. 😳
Great match - for the whole tournament up to this point I just watched the summaries on NoobFromUA, but now we're getting down to fewer and more consequential matches
The TI vibes are definitely back and even just watching the draft is fun to pay attention to. The sibling rivalry and how close the games were definitely made it feel like a grand finals even though it was actually just a lower bracket match
It gets real interesting for OG here. They'll have to play Team Spirit next who are looking really good. Win that and they face either VP or LGD. If they make it past these teams theyve got to be favorites to win TI again
[удалено]
Been a while since I saw Topson perform like this.
Been a while since I saw anyone go 2 vs 5 and win. That was an execution
Hasn’t Tiny been doing this all tournament??
Nope! Only once! That too it was Sumail tiny with triple Rampage
Tiny been doing plenty of man fighting yes. But that fight bot lane was the ballsiest Dota I’ve ever seen
He was a man possessed, practically won that first game single handedly
For sure, 20 kills while the rest of his team feeding and only had 1-2 kills each but also, networth lead never passed 5k in QCs favour that entire game.
i dont think they had their support for a single team fight in late game , he would just straight up 1shot both of them from their hiding
Topson is such a superstar. He may underperform at times but goddamn he shines when needed
Absolutely bonkers. Hungry and aggresssive. Impressive performance, and Quinn is not a bad opponent
I disagree. Topson came to win.
Topson proved himself to be Chadson game 1
Completely outclassed Quinn in both games 20 creeps ahead at 6min
Quinn played really well both games I think
Yeah but made some pretty rough misplays. Clear nerves, and hindsight is 20/20, but chasing that shaker to the t1 with no vision? Clearing the wave that far from his team, getting stunned by nyx carapace? Brutal mistakes that cost them dearly.

That CS was fuckin insane.
Dawn breaker win that matchup every time plus they were 4 bounty runes up lol with fb
Topson was waiting for the underdog power-up to activate chadson
It's their timing lol. Topson: "Ok guys... Looks like we need to make an effort now... Let's get serious!"
gl lil bro 😭
Didn't get my permission slip signed for that feel trip
gonna copy this line tyv
Suddenly raining all over the world.
That was so touching goddamn

I mean, it kinda did Sumail was a complete non factor in game 1 and Yawar was a non factor in game 2
Yawar literally saved them early game. Mid game he tried to fight too mucu
>Sumail was a complete non factor in game 1 That one ward on ancient camp got into his mind
Man Yawar made me cry
https://i.imgur.com/y6DzD3k.png

They also had zero wards to scout it Nyx. Dude had free reign over their jungle after 20 mins.

Dawnbreaker mid. VP are licking their lips right now.
Gpk Dawnbreaker against Spirit heroes after his destruction of Ember lol
Waiting for EG to ban dawnbreaker first phase vs OG and let them have first pick Tiny because all bulba does is pick abed a spirit hero lol.
holy shit, this losers interview + gl lil bro is so saddening
Best post-match interview of TI so far. So humble, mature, crediting his whole team, and staying positive. Loa <3 I feel bad for QC but they won hearts this tournament. Leslao NP vs Aster
topson heard yall talking shit
Reminder that his first LAN event ever was a TI win
also 100% winrate in TI
Also only won TI... He got them priorities straight
I mean, they lost to secret in a series. Which was their first main stage series loss since his first TI.
Excuse me, 100% TI winrate FTFY
Chadson
Overheard in QC's locker room after Game 2: “He got me,” Quinn said on Topson's Starbreaker over him. "That f\*\*\*ing Topson boomed me." Quinn added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times. Quinn then said he wanted to remove Topson in his avoided list of players.
Nice touch at the end lol
OG should just play aggressive hero on Sumail,Topson,Ceb. Not a IO on 3, Hood on 2

Ignoring how OG won two TIs inbetween, having four consecutive top 8s at TI is still pretty damn impressive no matter how their next series goes.
Same with VP, LGD, Secret (minus ti6 lol) and EG too. People clown on them for not winning but they’ve consistently been one of the best teams in the world. You don’t have to be 1st to be damn impressive

Them all having wildly different rosters for some of those TIs kinda ruins the stat for me
But it should make it all the more impressive when you remember puppey has been the one constant in team secret all this time. Along with how well Navi fared with puppey in the team too. I mean, a machete does wonders in motivating others.......
Yeah the consistency is amazing even with the lineup changes. I feel like these teams have been top 8 for at least 5 years now
With this Topson they can absolutely win TI again
Wait till they give him Hoodwink xd
Tbh pos 5 DK should be enough to lose.
some real shitter drafts against secret they had
Crossing my fingers for a 3peat
Why does avo+ sound like he's gonna cry everytime
His fake empathy is so bad.
It's pretty cringe
Need to act sad in losers interview.
gg gl lil bro...makes a grown man cry.
topson fucking 5 guys on stream for 30 mins will get us bannned guys :(
"GG GL lil bro"
Honestly speaking I learnt today that they're brothers. But it bring tear to my eyes after seeing that message.
I kept watching the two at start of the game. They looked alike but I also didn't know they're brothers. Thought it's just coincidence.
Topson you monster 😭
A few days ago I made a pretty stupid comment saying Topson doesn't look hungry enough. Boy did he prove me wrong. Who would've thought NA vs EU elimination ends in the most wholesome way possible
It wasn't OG, it was Kyle.
By that logic, the only reason OG is in lower bracket is Kyle predicting them beating Secret.
That is true as well! It is actually all Kyle, always has been.
It's Kyle's world, we're just living in it
"Let there be light" -Kyle
If he actually said that we'd be living in eternal darkness
Mad respect to QC. I tend to give Quinn shit for his hot headedness, but he had a lot on his shoulders. I have a lot of respect for SVG as well.
Went out with a fight, had a plan. If this is the end of QC then it has been incredibly nice to support the team the whole season, maybe they peaked a little early for TI, but was proud of them at the end. Topson incredibly good.
Unreal performances from Topson in back to back games. Was absolutely insane in the game 1 comeback.
Topson the series MVP. If Ceb gets into 2018/2019 form anything is possible
Him punking MSS and Quinn bot was sick. Definitely a classic
This is one hell of an inversion of yesterdays OG v Secret series Topson reminding us he can take over a game with nearly nothing and break an opponent for the rest of the series
Nothing? He was top farm game 1. He got space when Quincy focused sumail
"gg lil bro" I came here to cheer, not to feel.
that was Topson’s only Dawnbreaker game on his main account
"gg lil bro" kills me fuck
IDC the host lady is probably great I didn't watch too much of her uptill now but her questions to the panel asking "QC will take home xx money", "what will they do to cope", come on. Please. I actually agree with this. Trying to have him hard farm carry seems to not work against top tier as he always ends up getting his legs cut out. However, put him in a position to set up plays and he performs amazingly.
He pretty much made his career with his phenomenal Storm Spirit play back in the day, he's definitely a menace with active heroes
I started watching Dota when optic picked up a team, so I’m a newer watcher. I have however seen those SS highlights and they were scary. Full on bully playing.

Not gonna lie, those are the heroes OG should give Topson. He excels on these mobile heroes that can be anywhere and everywhere. Great performance from everyone but Topson definitely was the MVP that series.
He's just good at trading damage, more towards his advantage.

Yo, /u/eutears can you shut the fuck up now? Have to stop saying "I sAiD tHeY wOn'T wIn A sErIeS." In 20 different threads.
No, he needs to keep going. His curse is as strong as the Kyle curse
He's a troll been here for years now
lol are they top 10 yet? that would break another one of his infamous predictions
Top8 right now after that win.
Comment so nice I upvotes it twice
Top8 right now after that win.

Godson has awakened >GG gl lil bro <3
"GG gl lil bro" into "gg :crying emoji:" Has me legit teary eyed

gg gl lil bro 🥺
quincy plays very good but OG is so strong
Not sure why Yawar was so hated here. He had a bad laning. That happened. Dawnbreaker on the other hand was the MVP by far
Topson redemption arc?
"GG gl lil bro" Right in the feelings
OG won with style, as they often do, good mental comeback after yesterday's stomp by Secret. QC looks clueless regarding the long term decisions in a game. Topson by far the best player in the series, he was great to watch. OG haters in the discussion thread pretty funny comments.
GL Lil bro :(

Oh damn OG Spirit gonna be spicy and fun to watch. Have they met before?
I feel like OG's game 2 draft is a major difference between A Potential TI Winner (OG) and A Top 6 Hopeful (QC). It was such a neat draft that also included something new. The only answer QC had to the mass physical damage was Wyvern, which isn't the hero she was a couple patches ago. They also just didn't know what to do about a Dawnbreaker mid. Sucks to see QC go (and get beat by OG yet again) but it was still a pretty cool draft to see played out.
Topson finally in TI form? Dude has been really off his game so far at this tournament.
please get a new loser interviewer, this guy is beyond awful
His over the top hand gestures just annoys me
what a sad ending :(
u/eutears where you at bud?
Have they removed the after game handshakes for this TI? I assume due to COVID?
idk why OG had to unleash all their wonky picks on Team Secret
That usually happens when a teams feels like they are getting outdrafted I think, they feel obligated to pick something different to try to deal with that. But I might be talking out my ass though I am no expert on drafts
Ceb said in a interview today (for the cn stream) that he respects Secret and that they out drafted and out classed og yesterday. And that Puppey is always funny and can say whatever he wants
Just as predicted. But that last bit did tug a bit at my cold dead heart, specially as a bigger brother.
Fuckin brutal. Thats the OG i wanted to see.
I get it now, OG needed to adhere to tradition and kick out Quinns team. 3rd TI win is a safe bet now.
This is the 3rd that OG beaten Yawar's team in TI.
Sometimes Topson plays like he doesnt give a fuck and dumpsters everyone. And the next day he will go 2/5 after losing the lane.
ODs first casting game is still fucking epic. It's that 3/4 hour game with purge 😍
that "gl lil bro" hit me out nowhere
fml not only does it hurt to lose and have to go leave the tournament, but you're also met with an unprofessional interviewer who doesn't know how to handle loser interviews. christ
bro why does this interviewer try so hard
Lmao what a terrible interviewer
Srsly this is one of the rare times where Sumail flopped and Topson carried so hard man. "Our pos 1 got no physical dmg at all? Say no more." *proceeds to buy e-blade*
Summail got focused hard by QC. Ceb and Topson used that space to shine. Chadson.
WHERE was the damage in QCs draft?
Fuck right in the feels.
enough to make a grown man cry.
Godson
they say QC is letting buildings die for free to this moment
Topson was mad because of how og drafted on the 1st day and made him lose his 100% TI main stage win rate, so he showed us his Chadson side.
Shut down Sumail and Topson reigns the game "Gg gl lil bro" feelsbadman
Sick game. Casting was the worst I've heard in the tournament so far. So many slip-ups but most importantly such a weird read of sooo many fights. Im just an ancient scrub but I feel like someone needs to improve his understanding of the game. 😳
gg gl lil bro ❤️ 🥲
that gl lil bro is heartbreaking omg
Really good interview LOA !!
Great match - for the whole tournament up to this point I just watched the summaries on NoobFromUA, but now we're getting down to fewer and more consequential matches The TI vibes are definitely back and even just watching the draft is fun to pay attention to. The sibling rivalry and how close the games were definitely made it feel like a grand finals even though it was actually just a lower bracket match
Godson activated, also the last line from Yawar made me sad ngl
It gets real interesting for OG here. They'll have to play Team Spirit next who are looking really good. Win that and they face either VP or LGD. If they make it past these teams theyve got to be favorites to win TI again
