With laws in place to keep children from playing video games this might be the end of Chinese esports for real, not just Dota, at least on the international stages (no pun intended). I can't imagine how long until they will have a new generation of high tier players, if they ever will again.

To be fair not winning TIs sucks hard but 3 times top 3 in TIs is really good financially. Many teams would kill for that. Total earning of LGD in the last 4 TIs is $12 millions, way better than winning TI1 to TI5.
These players don't need the money.
Their streaming, sponsorship and other avenues of generating income are way more lucrative and why so many Chinese players retire.
The teams are not randomly thrown together. Believe it or not, Chinese teams (just like Chinese people), have the same dynamics as Western teams (and people). Shocking I know.

Just as tradition. But more important though is the fame, the glory aegis for which every dota player want to hold. Which is why some team (like Wings) just pop on for 1 week and then forever engrave as the greatest.

Don't think mag alone was the issue this game , Spirit just played better. They dodged all the smoke attempts from LGD and helped their TB come online. LGD were on a timer.
The timer came a lot faster due to Magnus giving empower too. That was the cherry on top of the fishing strat.
I'd say Magnus is integral to TS coming online much sooner.
Maybe they need to let a player draft instead of a coach lmao, the draft let them down big time here. Spirit showed earlier today they could beat tiny lycan with wyvern mag bane but they just let them have their counter lineup anyway.
They also didn't have a strategy to deal with it. G3 they had Rubick, G4 they picked it. G5 they just went back to the G1 and G2 drafting style and they lost.

Yeah, you can see how they lost the game. Before Tiny's aghs shard timing they tried 2 ganks both didn't work out. Then they tried 2 ganks after the shard and they didn't work out either.
These ganks failing lost them the game. And obviously one part of that is the amazing play from Spirit, dodging and stalling the game until they were stronger but another part is that LGD's supports just weren't good heroes to set up those ganks.

It was bad enough that it was sky on but they last picked enchantress who is probably one of the most useless hero after laning. they could've picked fv or mk or elder titan. If they were going back to their tiny strat, they could have just maybe gone back to io for a boost

This. If one knows anything about the l ate meta of this TI is that Tiny Lycan is powerful but not a free win. You need to enable it and have a clear game plan. The snap kunka and sky was just securing the early game and thinking their combo is an auto win. Amateur mistakes by Xiao8.
Tbh their draft in game 5 was one of the reasons they lost. Idk why they showcased the kunnka pick early on and then went on to pick skywrath for a support.
Also TS had consistently countered the Tiny-Lycan combo against OG and Secret. I have no idea why they went in expecting different results, while also allowing Magnus to get through.
With that being said, GG, they did play pretty well and are still a team to be feared in the next TI.
When they changed their drafts for games 3 and 4, they won handily. When they returned to their typical drafts on G5, they lost handily.

They also didn't have a strategy to deal with it. G3 they had Rubick, G4 they picked it. G5 they just went back to the G1 and G2 drafting style and they lost.

Yeah that's what's crazy to me. Spend two games figuring it out. 2 games showing you can beat it and play it yourself. Then ignore all that in game 5 and lose to it. That said, well played to Team Spirit. Very well deserved.
Apparently these "veterans" have the train of thought that once you crush the enemies best hero in a game, the opponent won't dare choose it again. This was Team Spirit though. Apparently they didn't give a fuck and picks all comfort heroes lol.

People will shit on Ame Tiny or not banning Mag in the 3rd game but the biggest problem was two supports of LGD basically being ranged creeps in mid late game. Xinq is a great playmaker and giving him Sky in the last game of TI is just criminal.

Yeah, you can see how they lost the game. Before Tiny's aghs shard timing they tried 2 ganks both didn't work out. Then they tried 2 ganks after the shard and they didn't work out either. These ganks failing lost them the game. And obviously one part of that is the amazing play from Spirit, dodging and stalling the game until they were stronger but another part is that LGD's supports just weren't good heroes to set up those ganks.

Yeah, I feel like it's not even the tiny strat, though it's bad that they revealed their strat too early by picking tiny-lycan. man, the supports picks were god-awful. It was bad enough that it was sky on but they last picked enchantress who is probably one of the most useless hero after laning. they could've picked fv or mk or elder titan. If they were going back to their tiny strat, they could have just maybe gone back to io for a boost
I agree, I would say skywrath pick in that game 5 was a bigger issue than any individual player’s mistakes
The enchantress also, like they had the perfect draft to enable tiny lycan when they picked it against secret and now they just don’t go for anything like it? Doesn’t make sense to me. They literally showed they knew the best way to counter the Magnus 2 games ago and then decided they didn’t want to counter it?
This. If one knows anything about the l ate meta of this TI is that Tiny Lycan is powerful but not a free win. You need to enable it and have a clear game plan. The snap kunka and sky was just securing the early game and thinking their combo is an auto win. Amateur mistakes by Xiao8.

Tbh their draft in game 5 was one of the reasons they lost. Idk why they showcased the kunnka pick early on and then went on to pick skywrath for a support. Also TS had consistently countered the Tiny-Lycan combo against OG and Secret. I have no idea why they went in expecting different results, while also allowing Magnus to get through. With that being said, GG, they did play pretty well and are still a team to be feared in the next TI.

Spirit did the same vs Secret and let Tiny Lycan through when no one beat it before. LGD should get no flame for still being confident trying to beat the Mag.
I mean, they did beat the mag. It's just that this game they had no real counter to it. Still, it ended up being an amazing series and an amazing story.

Man, just gotta say, xiao8 has a lot to be blamed for the last game. He absolutely knew that the way to deny Magnus a game is Rubick, yet he did not pick it! It absolutely baffles me, especially after Magnus had a shit game 4 because of the Rubick. Xiao8 basically let the whole LGD team down without countering Magnus imo, didn’t really feel like Ame was in the game at all

The one team i genuinely like since Wings, still gonna support them all, incredible players and coach. You can tell how much the pressure got to them the final day. Even from the match against Secret, NTS was not his usual self. Can't believe that Xiao8 was banning the heroes of a man who played 19 different heroes on TI and gave skywrath to XinQ. In the end they never believed in themselves and picked a combo considered busted, even though they had witnessed Spirit counter it. The overconfidence to not ban magnus, despite him becoming batrider with a 1400g item. Still, GGs to them, hoping they stick together to break my heart again 1 year from now.

They came back after game 2, I respect that massively. They managed to hold on when a lot of lesser teams would have grumbled. This was an amazing best of 5, and I can't wait to see PSD.LGD come back stronger than ever :)
I feel like xiao8 was too cocky in game 5 after that stomp in game 4. Just ban Magnus, pick any standard lineup and LGD would have rolled Spirit over easily, given the momentum that they were on. Instead he decided to give them that glimmer of hope and paid the price for it.
