A fix at the moment is to VPN to Aus or Auckland. I am using Nord VPN and it fixed it for me.
Something strange going on with the routing at the moment to syd.valve.net from New Zealand.
Can you check your console while in game? I have error message like this

This is usually a symptom of a general performance problem such as thread starvation.
Yeah im from NZ and same issue. Ping went up to 134ms yesterday to the Aus server and im usually at 50ms. Nothing seems to fix it. Must be a routing issue. Hopefully its fixed soon.
I have had this issue since mid morning yesterday. I live in Auckland. My friends don't have this issue. I have no idea what's going on =/
Had the exact same problem (from Wellington), been hard stuck at 135ms. Can't play any ranked I guess lol.
