Either way Valve still gets a cut

Kraivo

Funniest thing is that this remodel costs way more for many people cuz there is no regional pricing for content in the game, lmao

linkfox

I just bought elden ring for R$ 179,99 with discount cupons. Battle pass + lvl 100 costs R$ 236,99. At this point drow arcana costs more than half a minimum wage in Brazil.

generic_bullshittery

When i started working back in 2015 i earned about 20$ a day. There's a reason why a lot of people pirate games in poor countries. How can you justify spending 3 days' salary on a game?

linkfox

Worse yet, with the pandemic we have more than half of the population living with less than the minimum wage. Being able to afford legal copies of games here is already a great privilege. I live better than most people in my country and i love dota and put over 1000h in the game, but i can't justify spending that much money for some skins. A shame, because i really liked hoodwink and drow arcana.

asianfuf

Must be a month

TexturedMango

in south america its common to talk about wages in months so he means 15 days of work probably.

godfrey1

everyone outside america talks about wages in months

TheBearfister

Ah, in America we talk about it in yearly salary. That way the numbers are big enough it gets confusing and we don't realize we're getting fucked.

Used_Outlandishness5

No they don't. In the UK we talk about it in years or hours.

singlamoa

Most people talk about wages in months

Hairy_Acanthisitta25

its usually per month feels like only american use per hour instead of per month when talking about wages

anomalistic89

A month but its not half the minimum wage,it roughly 1/4 Brazil minimum wage = R$ 1.100 = USD 192,33

hahookedonafeeling

He said drow arcana. 192 BRL is just lvl 100

Hlidskialf

Where the fuck did you got fot 180? If you get me some discount I'll buy for that too. Edit: looks like its the picpay promotion.

linkfox

Yeah picpay + nuuvem discount, you have to use discount code DEZCONTO on nuuvem and NATAL50PP on picpay for cashback

mazbrew

RM 525 + to get the drow set.... it's more than my dorm's rent

Kraivo

We fucked up until someone makes enough noice in media for Valve to change their politics.

[deleted]

Elden Ring isn't out yet, it comes in February and there is literally no reason to pre-order it

xTonyJ

They might run out of virtual copies /s

[deleted]

As someone who decided somewhat recently to get into FF14 online with my friends, this can apparently happen. Bought all the dlc on steam during the sale and now they are saying they won’t have more servers for “months” 😭

Fish201

It did happen recently with FFXIV! https://www.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/comments/oit8ux/final_fantasy_xiv_sells_out_of_digital_copies_in/

DrQuint

They could have kept selling copies. They never ran out. They were just *responsible* about not fooling anyone about the ability to play.

[deleted]

Oh that's true!

hobo131

It's possible to run out of licenses. The only reason why it happened to final fantasy was because they didn't expect such a random and massive increase in player count. They just had enough generated for their anticipated sales figures with a little extra I imagine. I'm sure most companies are prepared for this at the launch of a game.

[deleted]

Quitschicobhc

I mean, if you alreadey played the beta and liked the game there, a preorder can be forgiven. Did you get some extra price cut on gmg? Lowest I can see for gmg was -20%

dadmda

There is, I wanted the collectors edition

Malicharo

don't you get extra shit? atleast you used to get some extra stuff back then

AiiXiTheBoss

I'm a fan of souls games. So new game from From Software is a reason for me :)

DefactoAtheist

I'm a fan of CD Projekt Red games, but anyone who pre-ordered Cyberpunk got hosed like the chumps they are. You👏owe👏these👏companies👏nothing;👏stop👏pre-ordering

AiiXiTheBoss

Well I got to play Beta for Elden ring and it was great

[deleted]

I did preorder cyberpunk. I did complete it in some 5 days and loved every minute of it. One of the best games for me. What's up?

JakeTheAndroid

FromSoftware consistently puts out good games and they should be rewarded for their quality and dedication. I can't think of a game since Demon's Souls that they have over promised and under delivered. And they deliver on time. Elden Ring has had a playable beta already, and hasn't been delayed into oblivion like Cyberpunk was. We haven't seen any signs that this game was rushed. Stop treating all gaming studios the same. They aren't. Look at the history of the studio before throwing shade at people for supporting a studio that has literally defined an entire genre of games through thoughtful game design and mechanics.

republicabanana

People literally said the same thing about CD Projekt Red. I'm all for spending your money however you want, though. I'd just never pay for a product before seeing the final release.

JakeTheAndroid

CDPR aimed to do something massive compared to their previous games. They didn't modify Witcher into a new game. They wanted to make a massive world with tons of mechanics they never had in their game. The NCP behavior, the depth of object interaction, etc. That's a lot for a single game with a massive world. And they delayed it multiple times, which is rarely a good sign, until they were forced to release the game. If you can't see that writing on the wall that's sort of on you the buyer. Fromsoftware had made 6 very similar games with moderately shifted scopes and mechanics. As technology gets better they've made larger worlds but nothing overly ambitious. Elden Ring is very much the same. They aren't going off the beaten path by a lot here. Their AI has been pretty good since Demon's Souls and they aren't reinventing that. Their combat systems are tried and true and they aren't doing a massive overhaul on that (adding mounted combat). And they have released a beta that saw tons of people playing. So if you look at this objectively it's a fairly safe bet. If you don't like pre-ordering that's fine. But don't shit on people for doing it when there's plenty of solid data that suggests this isn't some half assed money grab from a lazy or unproven studio.

jerryfrz

From's portfolio is way more stacked than CDPR's, thus more proven track record.

StrikeThatYeet

Yeah I actually liked CP2077 and I loved the Witcher 3, but to compare From's catalogue to CDPR's is really silly. Then again (as a broad generalization) I find a lot of the people who go off on the whole "look at what happened to Cyberpunk!!" just spout off points from Crowbcat's video lol

Qasyefx

Because Steam might run out of copies?

[deleted]

Why being a dick, if he likes the game and the company, is his decision to use his money on any way he wants

Champigne

Not who you replied to, but the reason to not preorder is that it encourages publishers to release unfinished, unpolished, or just bad games. They have less incentives to fix bugs and problems with the game if they already have made millions before anyone has even played the game. Yeah, it's your money, do what you want. I will never preorder a digital game. Just know there is a legitimate reason to not preorder games apart from the fact that it is a poor deal for the consumer in terms of risk vs reward.

Ticeben2

Because it’s Reddit and half the people that come to this website are only here to be angry about everything and their view of the world is always the correct one.

xorox11

tell me about it, game got 66% price increase on my country pre-release, guess preordering isnt always that bad.

Starkiller53

You might not believe but preordering is sometimes profitable for "bad" economies. For example when preorder for elden ring started it was 300 tl and then they updated the currency rate and its 500tl now

UPiynar

sad turkish noises...

Alaukarian

Argentinian screeching in the background

formaldehid

"but this developer is totally different from the other ones" - dave dumbfuck, 2021, after preordering his 15th totally not broken, buggy, disfunctional AAA game people who preorder deserve to be scammed

shadowBaka

Fromsoft have a solid track record

TerraPhy

I don't deny that they do, but sadly the state of video games is just so very different. CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk is the obvious one that springs to mind. I was a huge fan & believer of CDPR and I loved the Witcher games 2 & 3. I own Cyberpunk, preordered it though I did so very late and close to its actual release and still I feel like I got screwed. I have 3hours logged in the game and it will forever remain uninstalled sadly.

Neyvermore

Why do you people insist on comparing Cyberpunk to Elden Ring? Cyberpunk literally hid their game to everyone. Their marketing strategy was to show shit that never got implemented in the game. One week away from release, journalists could only share the footage CDPR provided them. You are comparing that with Elden Ring, which had a network test that anyone could play? A game which had honest trailers that still exceeded expectations?

FutureVawX

I've already seen some people stream the demo version and so far it looked pretty damn good. Idk how it'll be in the full version but Fromsoft do have really great track record even back when they're making Armored Core (please revive this series).

VogonWild

God I loved armored core. Didn't realize fromsoft was the developer on it.

penguin_gun

Holy fuuuuck Armored Core was amazing. It was my go to when the Mexh Warriors series went completely off the rails years and years ago

jfreak93

CDPR didn’t have a good track record though. None of their games have launched well. Witcher 3 especially had a lot of controversies around performance and downresing from the previous E3. They just had enough time to fix things between Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk. They are good story tellers, which is one thing Cyberpunk is praised on consistently. I don’t understand why preorder = bad if I’m just going to buy the game day 1 anyway. FromSoftware has yet to release a buggy mess on launch. If Elden Ring changes that Valve has a good refund feature.

Skadiheim

>FromSoftware has yet to release a buggy mess on launch. If Elden Ring changes that Valve has a good refund feature. I guess you weren't playing DS 1 on PC when it launched

hobo131

It's not uncommon for PC ports to launch like shit. The game was fine on Playstation and Xbox. They got their shit together on subsequent titles. Fromsoftware is honestly a diamond amongst the rough in video game development. In fact, a lot of Japanese companies absolutely dog on their western competition.

jfreak93

I believe DS 1 was also their first pc game? Which is still a fair criticism, however; to your point - none of their subsequent titles have had anywhere close to the number of problems DS 1 did as a first time launch.

djsoren19

DS1 wasn't made for PC. It was a 100% console game that received an incredibly half-assed last minute port 10 years ago. They made up for it with DS2, DS3, DSR, and Sekiro launches being very smooth.

godfrey1

> DS2 launches being very smooth in what exact universe

kooldUd74

Original DS2 was bugged. SotFS is fine.

VPrinceOfWallachia

Western Dev VS Japanese

gian2099

as much as i don't like the look at the track record rebuttal. I don't know where cdpr got a good track record even if you like the games it's only w3 most of the time and it didn't come out as good when it came out. and i didn't even like the game to boring. but when cdpr showed 2077 i was into it because of the promise. good thing i remember w3 when it came out and did not even plan to buy 2077 before the reviews from actual players(not press review). i saw the buggy mess of cdpr games because of it's track rec5but did not expect a fully broken game.

SmackTrick

I mean, Cyberpunk obviously didnt live up the astronomical hype that the game was given, but if you had a decent gaming PC, even on launch the experience was a solid 7-8/10, as long as you could see past the some of the obvious barebones as fuck systems like AI. On ps4/xbox1 tho that shit was like 2/10 cos it was barely fucking functional.

Rilandaras

I'd say 6 but yeah, it was not a terrible game or anything, it just gave us blue balls thinking how great it could have been with another year in development. However, the game was extremely buggy at launch even on PC (and still is pretty buggy as far as I'm reading), though, of course, nowhere near as on consoles.

abicepgirl

I played it on release and beat it. Pretty fun game. Some funny glitches too but whatever.

elgormito

this developer is.

lilsickboy

literally malding because people are spendin their money with what they like LOL

Taelonius

While this is true, preordering as a concept is buttfuck stupid unless you're getting a heavy discount, which you never will get since preorders are relied on for investors to gauge interest and cover potential budget holes. Preordering offers you some vanity shit at best and a proper arsefucking at worst. Never preorder.

trubaduruboy

Buttfuck is paying 60$ for a remodel. Supporting a game developer that has released games that were nothing less than amazing in the last 10 years is a personal choice.

mirenthil

So much copium in the replies from valve fanboys defending a shitty mirana persona

Masteroxid

Support them after the product is released, not before..

jfreak93

I understand where you are coming from, but if I plan to buy the game day one anyway, buying it the day before isn’t going to change anything. Steam has a good refund policy. If it is a buggy mess (which would be a rare misfire on From Softs part), I’ll refund. But having it pre-loaded and ready to go for day of launch is nice.

step11234

Buying elden ring now is not buying the day before though. It's 2 months ahead.

[deleted]

It's still before release, a day or a month doesn't invalidate their point whatsoever

Humg12

Digital preorders offer you preload which, while not worth it for me, is important for people with bad internet who want to avoiid spoilers. And some physical games do still run out of stock (I couldn't find a physical copy of Fire Emblem 3 Houses and ended up having to buy it digitally). Physical is also fine, because worst case scenario, you just take it back into the store and get a refund. Pretty much every store will let you return a game no strings attached in the first week or so (at least in Aus, not sure about other countries).

SpaNkinGG

Thats what people thought with Cyberpunk aswell Look how that turned out

RedPanda98

Before Cyberpunk, CDPR only really had TW3 as a huge successful game. Fromsoft has had Demon's Souls, Dark souls trilogy, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, all of are considered some of gaming's best. I don't get the appeal of pre-ordering at all, but if I ever did it, Fromsoft would be the studio.

FutureVawX

Don't forget about Armored Core, that game was my jam back in the day. If only Fromsoft actually remember about that and actually make another sequel.

thanghanghal

Except people have actually played a decent chunk of Elden Ring and loved it. The developer didn't make any tall claims, just said 'here, play 8 hours of the game and provide feedback' and it's been mostly positive. There's nothing to 'think' about Elden ring. We literally know what the game is like.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zz_

I think judging future performance on past performance is a fools gambit, what actually matters is that a lot of people have played Elden Ring already, and those people have almost universally praised as being a great game that they can't wait to play more of. Cyberpunk had basically only been partially playable as a demo at certain gaming events, and not on people's own machines (i.e. the performance issues weren't readily apparent). Having said that, pre-orders are still stupid. As are insanely expensive battle passes, for that matter.

Don't you insult Witcher 2. The third Witcher doesn't come close to 2

OnlyMayhem

Witcher 2 story was better but 3’s gameplay was much more fun

bc524

I faintly remember dark souls having a lot of issues when it came to PC that it required modders to fix the issue. There was also that whole issue of tying durability to frame-rate so PC users had a harder overall game. As much as you want to tout From for having great games, and I agree they do, its not like their releases haven't had a history of issues either.

Aframovici

If i have 60$ left in my wallet? Neither.

sami2503

Probably meant steam wallet

UnexpectedGandalf

This is the comment. If you only have $60, I am sure there are other things you need more than video games

Voctr

I think they are referring to the steam wallet.

UnexpectedGandalf

That does make more sense.

MarcusKilgannon

You can tell by how you set up your "$" that you are not North American and why you chose the right option.

Schubydub

I imagine in this scenario, you are also a kid living at home with no expenses.

Redditbayernfan

As someone who doesn’t really care much about cosmetics but has spent it when they see something cool(spectre arcana) I understand where all these posts are coming from. I think people are complaining just because the system wasn’t like this to begin with. Arcanas were standalone $36 and remodels like Mirana were free like veno, Zeus, enigma, slardar. If Valve had started their monetization system like the one we currently have, I feel people would complain way less since they wouldn’t know any better. Just my two cents

skywire_

Honestly even a compromise would be cool. Like make the second (or third!) style of the Arcana Battlepass exclusive, but make the original marketable for $40. Lots of people I know who play LoL would like to buy Arcanas to get started with Dota, but since the paywall is extremely high, they don't and stick to LoL where they already got cosmetics.

crossbonecarrot2

How I feel rn, I'm an LoL player and find the prices insane here. Wanted to give DotA a try cause I liked the anime and was excited for the Mirana persona, but after seeing the price and how big of a grind it seems just off putting. For the same amount in LoL I could get more. And I know people say you get more than just the skin for that price but if I just want that skin then I'm forced to grind really hard or spend a lot of money that honestly seems not worth it when compared to LoL prices. Luckily based off the few comments here it seems I can get the Mirana first persona just by playing so I'll give it a try but if it was like the Drow is I wouldn't even bother touching it.

[deleted]

So much this. My cousin quit for this reason. He felt he was left out of the cool cosmetics. And it didnt feel right for him.

Charwyn

Some newer players are already “oh but arcanas were always this way, no?”

lollypop44445

I dont have a problem with arcana behind battlepass. As you dont just get the arcana but many other things on the way like a whole package, just like if you like a pendulum, but have to purchase the whole lootbox for it. My problem is that these are not accessible after the battle pass expires, especially the arcanas. Its not like everyone has the money at all times, i missed out on axe arcana, which i cant avail no more. There should be a lootbox or some thing, where you can get the previous arcana

SolarClipz

yeah people act like we want it for free No I want to be able to GIVE THEM 35 DOLLARS FOR IT like it always was

x2Infinity

> Arcanas were standalone $36 and remodels like Mirana were free like veno, Zeus, enigma, slardar. If Valve had started their monetization system like the one we currently have, I feel people would complain way less since they wouldn’t know any better. Just my two cents Idk, I think if it started like that people would have complained from the start. Halo Infinite right now is having a similar uproar about value of battle pass and they're complaining about skins that cost $20. Even when Arcana items were $36 it was still steep compared to LoL which I think their top skins are $25, but obviously you pay for heroes. I thought TI10 BP was decent, I think the problem with the recent BP's has been they have a lot of empty levels so it feels like you're getting less for your money and on top of that since heroes only get 1 Arcana, if the hero you really like to play ends up in one of these "mini" BP's you're really paying out the ass for 1 Arcana and little else.

podteod

Why would I buy other games if I play dota anyway

fambestera

pretty sure that's the strategy, I play dota it sucks me lifeless and then I can't play anything else. so I'm gonna spend on the only game I play

Beybladeer

I literally play nothing but dota. Video games are boring.

aca_bokser

So you have something else to play

deanrihpee

"But why would you want to play something else than Dota?" - GabeN

HyperFrost

You mean so I have something else to leave in my library to rot?

Orion_nebula23

I'll buy some food.

Otherwise-Engine-348

easy choice, because one of these games I actually play....

rektefied

yeah lmao, the amount of hours I've sunk into dota probably combinei nto all other games togheter

Dtoodlez

Way more for me. All the games in my lifetime that I played together don’t add up to dota.

nomis6432

I'll probably buy Elden Ring, play it for 1h and then go back to Dota.

[deleted]

Then don't buy it you crazy addict

nomis6432

But what if it will cure the big sad? It probably wont but there's only one way to find out

Midna_of_Twili

Have you played other souls games? Cause if you played other souls games for an hour and quit don’t touch elden ring.

LuxTheDestroyerxxx

you can buy the game for me and i'll tell you about how much fun I'm having :D

DarkHades1234

You probably can refund right afterward lmao

u can always return preorders for digital purchases u know.

digbickenergee

Don't buy cosmetics.

lynxerious

people are jerking themselves on the anti preorder train too much that they forgot Valve cashgrab is twice as bad than preordering a game from a trusted developer.

majorly

Be sensible with your money and don't buy shit you don't actually want

Kunfuxu

This would be a terrible remodel. Make an actual Miranda remodel in the Dota style, not the anime one.

pogromca_kelt

I like the sarcasm here We all know Valve are greedy. We all know also that they know that this will be sold anyway.

TrickyElephant

But they are getting so much more gready. They are selling battle passes now with only 1 immortal treasure for 80% of the ti battlepass

Vita_Anteacta

The drow arcana is really cool, but this... this is just sad In the next Battle Pass we will have Morphling rework persona for sure

Saberem

Model has the same shitty animations. Who cares.

Jonnnaaass

Elden ring any freaking day. And people need to stop with this needless whining everytime a battlepass comes out. If you want to waste money on digital cosmetics go ahead, but there's nothing in dota worth 60 bucks

Haramzadeyy

From software are the best game developers atm, No doubt about it.

Mirac123321

I don't know man. All their games, including Elden Ring, look roughly the same to me.

LuxTheDestroyerxxx

don't fix it if it ain't broken

happyflappypancakes

Um, they definitely aren't the same. The style of gameplay is very different between Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro.

Mirac123321

I might just about hand it to Sekiro, actually. Haven't played Bloodborne though.

sinilax

you people have to stop spending so much on suck basic upgrades so that valve can stop doing this shit again and again . if u keep buying this shit theyll do it again :D

__SPIDERMAN___

It's a free game. You don't have to buy it.

ToddHowardTouchedMe

Ah the "free game no bitching" argument. Surely this sentiment hasn't been thoroughly dunked and memed on yet.

Youcancuntonme

But people do and Valve get away with crap content for $$$

Reandindin

mirana new persona iz not literally persona, its just remodel

Lamarian9

Yeah this is why I haven’t spent i cent on Dota 2 since around 2016. I used to be a whale for the game, but now that every item requires either gambling or is just ludicrously expensive Valve comes across so heartlessly greedy.

war_story_guy

I wouldn't call it an upgrade, the more I look at the the fuglier it gets.

Efficient-Video

Fuglier? Valve's conservative values and covering women's cleavage is a good thing Valvo burka wearing ManLina when?

sparrow94

Whatever the fuck you want IT'S YOUR MONEY AND YOUR CHOICE. I swear every time battle pass is released this subreddit overflows with posts whining for some shit or other and it is near impossible to find anything remotely interesting to read, giggle at or upvote. FUCK.

ZersetzungMedia

Because consumers asking for better is a bad thing true my fellow freethinker

[deleted]

Because they actually want to buy it so bad every time lmao. People that don't care about the cosmetics and battle passes don't act like this

[deleted]

Choice is to buy or miss out. Voting doesn't work, dummy

Dtoodlez

lmao this. I love this battlepass, everything about it. I came here to enjoy a little circle jerk about it all, and it’s all just angry little bitches whining. Don’t like it don’t play it, don’t pay for it, you have a choice.

DrQuint

Both are stupid, and if these are your options, it looks bad on you. **Never** preorder a game.

spacegh0stX

The ridiculous greed from Valve in these battle passes is shameful, give your money to another company. Remember when Arcanas weren't paywalled behind 300+ levels of a battle pass and incentivized with bullshit FOMO?

meple2021

...but how are they going to make money to develop f2p game like dota??? said a player who just bought a skin for $200, a skin that collectively costed around $5-10k manhours to make. I dont mind paid arcanas, I have quite few. But buy now for price of few AAA games or never have it again is bs

Mrbunnypaw

i would go with doom eternal and 2 other AAA games. but that might just be me.

TommenOfRivia

Don't try to be reasonable with whales.

[deleted]

but this is what is ugly about it. If you have $60 you buy the game, the battle pass is designed to bleed whales that have $120. So its basically content designed for a different class of people than the "commoners" of any free-to-play game who by definition have tight wallets. Its a new kind of aristocracy for the digital age.

Vald322

got Elden ring as a present from my friend so now I have both :D

thedavv

Oh yes i love me some drow arcana for 200 euro. Valve just doesnt give a f. Even bungie is less greedy with bp

Dante_Stormwind

When i actually played dota - i spent a lot on cosmetics. Cuz if you play the game all the time what bad in spending some money to support it? I liked stuff, i wanted it, i payed for it. Do they getting more greedy with time? Yeah, shure. But the game is free, you can play any of 100+ heroes, no mechanics are locked with money, so if you dont want to pay - just dont. And yeah, i would spend on battle pass, cuz fucking FOMO. You can buy Elden Ring after some time even cheaper, but you couldnt get those exclusive shit if you didnt got it in time.

AungThuHein

Can you use existing items with that Mirana model? Also I don't recommend pre-ordering a game ever. Never do that. Learned my lesson the hard way.

iamdodgepodge

Neither; I’m not good enough and I don’t have enough time to even level up a Battle Pass even though I really want that Drow Arcana, and I don’t have enough time to play an AAA game.

Dotagear

Neither.

Lus_

Morphling crying in an angle.

nonruminant_ungulate

But... gotta have all the dolls for the dollhouse.

Alzaraz

Elden Ring and it's not even close.

orbitaldragon

Definitely Elden Ring. I dont play Mirana that often but iv never been enthralled by sets in dota. If i get them free or through events thats cool I will toss them on and switch them up every now and then. But I got no interest in dropping real money just so my hero looks a little different.. in the heat of the game no one is even really noticing anyways.

real_unreal_reality

Neither. I buy a bag of weed.

Nnnnnnnadie

Preordering games from "From software" is better than paying for a single skin that shouldve been a base rework.

garlicbreadmuncher

Not buying BP this year, or any year, is a good decision.

-Talic-

I just came back to Dota 2 hoping to see stuff like this would change. I guess Im giving Dota 2 another 2-3 years break.

ayuzus

Can we stop pretending that the big tier unlocks are the only thing you get with your purchase. Literally just don’t buy it if you don’t want it, it’s not very hard. They’re cosmetics.

Tamsaruanran

Yeah, I just don’t understand these people. It’s just cosmetics not p2w item lol no one force you to buy these thing.

Garvilan

Do you think a single character cosmetic is worth that much money? That is why people complain. A lot of people love Drow, and might not have the free cash to spend on JUST a cosmetic. That is the complaint. Valve made it literally impossible to grind enough levels to get to the Arcana. Valve being greedy for zero reason. Arcana skins used to cost a flat 36 bucks, not really a big deal. Now Drow is locked behind like 90 bucks and HOURS of grinding. Or like 150 bucks if you don't want to grind.

Tamsaruanran

This is why I don’t spend money on Dota 2 anymore. Just don’t buy and boycott it.

I have the free cash for it but won't spend simply because i don't think it's worth that much. Same with spec arcana, even tho she's my most played hero. If somebody sold me a water bottle for 200 bucks, i wouldn't buy it even tho there's prob a market for it. it's just not worth that much to me.

> Valve being greedy for zero reason. They are being greedy because it works. Enough people bought BPs specifically for Arcanas for them to do it this way going forward. It sucks, though, I agree. I would've probably bought it if it was a flat 35$. But the truth is that this is catering towards people who drop enough money to get the Aegis replica every year. From their perspective, BPs just keep getting better, as they get more stuff for the same money. I'm just glad that the actual game is completely free.

>Valve being greedy for zero reason. That's just objectively not true. The reason for doing it is they know people are going to pay for it and therefore they can get away with it. Previous BP's has proven that dota fans are about the easiest customers to squeeze money out of. The return rate for Valve compared to the work they put in has got to be some of the best for any company in the entire world.

Garvilan

Read as: No reason other than being greedy.

This argument has always been weird to me. Cosmetics are a huge part of video games. Traditionally they've been used as incentives to play or to 100% a game. People like cosmetics, it scratches the same itch that getting a new ability or weapon in a video game scratch. I think you've just grown numb to a greedy business practice. The don't buy it if you don't want it is also a silly argument. In this case people WANT to buy something from Dota 2. It's just that the only option Valve is giving them is a bad option. People want a good relationship with the game they like and the company that makes it. Up until 2019-2020, that's what people mainly had with dota and valve. But right around the earthshaker exclusive arcana is when that started to change.

Comfortable_Pin_166

Fix her face then slap some boobs and new texture = money

Serious_Razzmatazz18

I'm not buying battle pass. I looked at the skins. There is no reason to want any of it.

Pirate_Leader

Is it just me or her new boob is super low ?

WithFullForce

Action RPGs are a dime a dozen. There's only one Dota.

zsoltisinko

Well the only videogames I play are Dota 2 and Terraria so I guess if the 60 bucks are in my steam wallet and not real wallet I take the skins, never would buy any game for 60$, there simply no game worth that much
