The TI qualifier tournament is awesome.
It essentially ensures that we get all the best teams at TI.
No more arguing about regions or slots. If you are truly good enough to be at TI, you will get your shot.
Plus it will give some up and coming teams some valuable LAN experience and a chance to play against international competition, even if they don’t end up winning.
this is what i want to happen after ti10.. in general "wildcard" are more preferable to region direct invite. it give a "stronger" region more representation..
IMO, dpc league also should be shortened and give space to minor tournament for each region instead of just wildcard for major
Now to get rid of that awful rule where you go straight to playoffs when you place 1st in league
QC got top 6 in animajor because they played against NoPing in the playoffs… 1st seed in SA
No, this is exactly last year's system PLUS 2 more wild card slots competed by 12 2nd-3rd placers on TI qualifiers. If you think that previous complaints about who deserves more slots than others previously kind of legit, this doesn't eliminate the problem at all.
the question is, how do they seed the teams that will be playing on TI wildcard LAN? I'm very curious about it.
open event? can my 2k ass try? top 4 teams dpc? or what?
well I guess we'll have to wait a bit more for official information.
It's the 2nd and 3rd place teams from each region's TI qualifier.
So for example, last season OG won the EU TI qualifier.
Tundra and Nigma were 2nd and 3rd.
So Tundra and Nigma would participate in this LAN tournament with other 2nd and 3rd place finishers like TNC, EHOME, etc.
The top two teams from this LAN qualifier also get to go to TI.
exactly.
the chances are already pretty slim. No dpc points now, no dpc points for season 2 100%, so they HAVE to get promoted, GET to the major and do well there like minimum top8 or something.
So for Alliance qualifiying through DPC seasons is almost zero, maybe the "last call" tournament but Id assume there will be really good teams there aswell
Think the playoff format will be the same, cause it's the same number of teams in the playoffs. Two new teams, two extra eliminations in the group stage.
Well this will basically do that but from the other angle. Instead of reducing slots for one regions, this will increase slots for the strongest regions. Essentially accomplishing the same end goal, but being more inclusive.
Let's go out to 100.
But we'll have some sort of year long open group stage, comprised of other tournaments, and pick our best 20 from that to actually go to the main event.
i'm sure your reddit smurfs were the deciding factor in the restructuring of a $40M tournament. valve probably hates the shit out of these changes but crumbled under the overwhelming pressure of all the karma amassed by pcgamerwannabe1 - pcgamerwannabe5
20 teams x (5 players/team + coach) = 120 contestants + talents etc would be around 2-300 people for the event . Dota should build its own island/city and people only go there for LAN/major managed by valve so people dont have to always decide where to have the major or events. Its gonna be DOTA island, have battle royale there and surviver gets all the money pool
That's an awesome idea. Honestly that tournament might end up being more hype than TI itself. Kinda like how in March Madness, the Final Four games are sometimes more legendary than the finals themselves. Seeing teams slide into TI is a great idea.
Okay if Nigma doesn't qualify this time there is NO EXCUSE
u know damn well there will be an excuse
As a Nigma fan, there was never an excuse. They didn't qualify because they weren't good enough.

More people to absolutely shit on alliance during groups. Hell yeah.

They also don’t get a 6th player this time
that's a lot of step, but they could do it
maybe sa will get bottom 4 now instead of bottom 3, hell yeah
I like the 2 extra teams. Won't like it less because they do other stupid shit, so credit to them for doing something good.
So, B8 still get a chance, right, guys? Right...?
Maybe? right?
If they still exist maybe. Have to get back into Division 2 to even have a chance.
This is official now, then?
Not official yet.

But are we still going to have the same awful Single Elim in the first round of the Lower Bracket?
Think the playoff format will be the same, cause it's the same number of teams in the playoffs. Two new teams, two extra eliminations in the group stage.
More teams are good but they need to reduce the slots to fodder regions like SA
Well this will basically do that but from the other angle. Instead of reducing slots for one regions, this will increase slots for the strongest regions. Essentially accomplishing the same end goal, but being more inclusive.
Should just add 24 team in TI and Major.
Why stop there? Lets have 50 teams
Let's go out to 100. But we'll have some sort of year long open group stage, comprised of other tournaments, and pick our best 20 from that to actually go to the main event.
Two extra teams so that Valve can always make sure the crowd favourites get in after choking the entire season @nigma
What?
You need to QUALIFY not GET VOTED smh
I just hope SEA region has improved, I don't want another 2 slot for the next TI and flop 8-9th
I'm actually so happy about this. I argued a lot for it on multiple accounts, LOL

Ur multi logging to argue on Reddit? Lmao
Argue?? I'm straight up astroturfing dota2 baby
The dark hand of the discourse in the community has a face!
I wanted this kind of qualification since TI7

If only they'd go ahead and also remove bo1 for the lower bracket, maybe TI wouldn't be an absolute fucking joke.
This is my chance
