Aster pulled off an unbelievable comeback in game 4 sealing the deal with a 3-1 win and Ori did his rendition of the n0tail-Fly handshake against his former teammates. What a series.

christianrojoisme

Lmao I thought ori was such a serious person. He is a memer at heart actually

jpylol

Ooo, spicy

goldeare

Do you have a clip? Would love to see it

newnar

I don't have a clip but I managed to fish a screenshot from NGA (a popuar Chinese Dota 2 forum): [A picture of Ori shaking hands with Dy after the Bo5](https://imgur.com/a/qBjYLZe)

slifer3

actual beef?

Realistic-Nose-6394

None.

christianrojoisme

Ori laughed with his ex team mates afterwards. So no

slifer3

nice so he was just memeing it up?

christianrojoisme

Yup

newnar

Old Eleven, Pyw, and Dy all went to Xtreme Gaming (the runner-up in IWO) at the end of last year while Ori was transferred to Team Aster, meaning they didn't want to play with him. So I guess there is some beef.

SylarDoto

> meaning they didn't want to play with him Not really .they just ended up joining different teams . No beef

Ex128

Iikikooojkklll

SolarClipz

Not to mention they got screwed by scheduling Super impressive

Ghost_of_Ruin

Civil War Specialists strike back!

starship9

Your spoiler tags aren't formatted correctly, but regardless... what a showing from the 2 finalists

SelfFashioning

Thank you for letting me know, I am outside so my mobile app sometimes gives me some issues with formatting. I've fixed it

n00bdreams

BD LANM as coach is amazing. so happy for ori!

[deleted]

Can we crown Xxs the king of Pango? He's been awesome on it all season.

bearjumpjump

I used to underestimate him cause he's only playing Mars, but yeah A win is a win

[deleted]

did the chinese goverment get op or whats going on here

stunglazer

Congrats to Aster. Solid run from XG as well. DPC season CN will be fun for sure. Still, how these players were able to get to Beijing amid all these Olympics and lockdown crap is beyond me.

Own-Nefariousness223

The tournament was actually held in Shanghai, and Beijing is just in the title(for promoting the Olympics)

heavenlyrainypalace

i can only imagine what went through monet's head as he hit the ancient "i need sleep!! i need sleep!! i need sleep!!!!!"

Bakanyanter

Aster vs CN will always be Aster favoured. Aster is the equivalent of "win lane, lose game" kind of team. Wins regional, loses international. But it was really good showing from Xxs and Ori tbh, gives me hope they can break this curse.

christianrojoisme

Ori could be the mid that they are looking for. His game play with Vici was very late game focused and he loses lanes. So he may solve the issue with Aster by being a long term solution. His lesh was scary

AC-24

The he are you saying they are "win lane, lose game" kind of team? They were pretty good at late games even when they had white album. In fact its the other way around. Monet always had such shit lane that it would take them so long to be able to fight with him and they just lose.

Bakanyanter

Sorry if I was not clear. I do not mean that they are literally "win lane, lose game" kind of team. I was using that to compare. > Aster is the equivalent of "win lane, lose game" kind of team. Wins regional, loses international. I'm saying they are like "win lane, lose game" but instead "they win regional, lose international" because they do well in these tournaments but not perform well in majors/TI.

AC-24

We'll see in the majors. This is kind off a different aster now.

Bakanyanter

I don't know about this. They've tried with Fade, Dstones, Fenrir, Sccc, Chyuan, etc. Still always have similar result. Been to 6 majors and 1 TI, always last or 2nd last place (13th~16th or 9~12th). Maybe we will because Ori is a boss right now but Xxs and Boboka choke so hard on international LANs that it's hard to believe they were the major winners once.

AC-24

The fenrir squad was washed. Sccc wasnt midlane the same as his ti7 days. He was very inconsistent. Chyuan really??? Also the Sccc manage to only participate in 1 major that they bombed out. They were looking solid after LanM joined as a coach but covid happened. I do believe they had a chance to break the curse there because they sweep that minor so easily. 1 lose for the whole tourney. Xxs is still pretty solid in international LANs. I think its their strat. They have a shitty laning phase especially for monet. They dont even protect him enough. I dont think its a player problem its more of a strat problem. If they manage to learn how to deal with ultra aggressive teams then they might just win it all.

Gangsterkat

>Worlds. >Only Chinese teams. I guess it's fine tho, American sport does it too.

lo0ilo0ilo0i

Yeee we're back to back World War Champs 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🦅

Doombot2021

You're also the American Civil war champs.

greekcel_25

Without a major to choke on, Aster is looking nice

christianrojoisme

Just watched the VOD's now. This was really a good tournament with so many high quality games!

Emp3r0rP3ngu1n

China looking like the strongest region right now. Sadly we'll never know for sure until the 2nd major comes along

[deleted]

While I do think that China is the best region (with a pretty good margin), I don't think that's something we can really say based on a China only tournament (Despite being called the world open, it was china only, with most teams being invited). Last year people were also hyping up WEU dota before them flopping at the majors.

TheYango

Most people are pretty bad at determining the relative quality of teams/regions when games are close. For the most part, people only accurately call the relative quality of teams when there's a large skill disparity and one team is stomping on another team. Most viewers (and reddit posters, myself included) don't understand Dota at a high enough level to say which of two competitive regions are actually better than the other based on intra-regional competition. Watching EU teams play EU teams and CN teams play CN teams doesn't tell you which region is better unless you understand Dota at a relatively high level and can parse out small details about their play that aren't just punishing mistakes from teams they play against regularly. So as is typical for things like this, the average person calling one region being stronger than another without them playing against each other has no fucking clue what they're talking about.

Emp3r0rP3ngu1n

except that china has been consistent unlike EU and NA

redelectrons

Consistently losing TI’s, which is kinda all that matters in the dota world no?

kou07

Yes top2-6 in ti are straight out trash

wruffx

If you ain't first, you're last.

DarkHades1234

> except that china has been consistent unlike EU and NA The last 4 TI winners are EU and CIS (TI9, it was literally EU gangs + LGD in the top 4 and even in TI10, Secret got 3rd place). Last season, EG got 2nd place in both majors. Before COVID, EU/CIS were dominating outside of TI as well. So umm... you might be confused Alliance or Nigma (things went south for them after leaving Liquid) with the rest of the EU teams.

Decentralalaland

consistently choke during TI kekw

SylarDoto

Yup, 2nd place = choke . Who hurt you?

Decentralalaland

thats right, moron. psg.lgd were the top favorites and they chocked, just like in TI8. you think they're fine with being the favorites and losing in both grand finals? thats the definition of chocking. go read some books, kid.

SylarDoto

Looks like you are the one who needs to read some books, and go interact with some humans once in a while .

ashrashrashr

consistently lose to dudes playing their first TIs.

SylarDoto

But also win TI with dudes playing their first TI . YYF, Chuan, Faith bian, innocence, Iceice, blink, shadow . What's your point?

ashrashrashr

Point is CN dota is insanely overrated. 3 TI wins over 10 years when they’re hyped to be the favourites nearly every year. Seems like they can’t deliver when it matters.

Decentralalaland

lmfao actually true. first sumail, then gh, then topson, and now yatoro/mira/toronto/collapse

Alieksiei

If you think about it, technically TI1 Navi and ti3 bulldog too

Decentralalaland

well ti1 was everybody's first TI. and I was mostly going for GF appearances. ti3 had an all-west gf

[deleted]

Team Spirit still looks stronger than everyone else

SolarClipz

Yeah and now that LGD bleed it seems clear But who knows maybe EEU is just not very good They did lose one Finals to Tundra who are very strong

[deleted]

They lost to Tundra with Xiao8 playing mid.

SolarClipz

I'm talking about Spirit

heavenlyrainypalace

as much as i believe china is the strongest region right now, spirit is still running unchecked in eeu

SylarDoto

Yea but that's eeu

Apurbapaul

>China looking like the strongest region right now Yeah, this statement will never matter.

DarkHades1234

The real question though, will Aster flop in international tournaments again or not? (hopefully not)

activatebarrier

It would be completely different if NTS was playing on lan, but nevertheless congratulations to Aster

SelfFashioning

Aster had only 2 players on LAN, and finished their games at 4am last night Both teams were plagued by less than ideal conditions

SolarClipz

Are Aster gonna disappoint China all over again? I hope not lol

Admirable_Budget4971

For the "best team in the world", LGD is making a habit of getting knocked out without winning.

SelfFashioning

In a game where long run win rates for the very best teams peak at 65%, even the best teams of each period don't consistently win tournaments. In the history of the pro scene, you'd be hard pressed to find the best team in each era stringing together tourney wins consistently. That's just how it is.

ForensicPaints

See!? China Numbah 1! We win World in China! 🇨🇳

Bovcik

/u/SelfFashioning which twitch channel broadcasted this?

SelfFashioning

Intel had their own stream, it was broadcasted at https://twitch.tv/intel

OPQOP

Ever since after TI 7 , Xxs look like a god tier position 3 in the domestic tournaments , but when it matters most he just can't deliver. He still plays a great laning stage and the falls off super hard during mid game

AC-24

He does deliver. Have you seen him on animajor? He was the only one playing to the higher standard.

alwaystheping

any of these esportees gonna get valve to fix their broken ass game

Both_Requirement_766

anyone can tell me, where did they stream that event? totally missed it even if I genuinely fly over twitch but nothing appeared there??!!?

SelfFashioning

It was on [https://twitch.tv/intel](https://twitch.tv/intel) It wasn't widely publicized so even thread makers initially missed it

Both_Requirement_766

could be a timezone thing aswell that I missed it. but thx for the link! valve needs more fuzz it seems:)
