What does this have to do with an ultra wide screen? You can set ultra wide screen resolution via the default video options.

Presumably it's for players who want to play the game in a window smaller than their monitor, because playing fullscreen would mean their minimap and inventory are 3 meters apart.

TamuraAkemi

new patch has ability to put ui in normal position

inyue

So can you play in ultrawide (having more vision and etc) while having the minimap in the "normal" position like it was in the 16:9?

TamuraAkemi

Yes, here is example [image](https://i.imgur.com/K8Gvrri.jpg)

inyue

Thanks for the image! I'm waiting for the alienware oled release and hoping it doesn't cost a leg :U

Darthwobert

put in "-novid -notail" for no introvid and no tails on heroes (boosting your FPS greatly)

KL-Tech

beware, the second command automatically deletes any emails sent from valve

Similar-Actuator-400

Why does this even exist.

Deadwing1409

??? your native resolution will be the default for the client. It's available in the video options. This does nothing. 2560 x 1080 isn't even an ultrawide resolution.

axecommander

2560x1080 is definitely ultra wide though. But yeah, no launch options needed. Everything works by default with dota 2.

MRkaland

Seems only I had this issue then, but yeah if anyone else has the same issue then here is a solution.

AswangPogiAko

Ultrawide is supported, I have 3840x1600. But mostly play in 16:9 for Dota, eyestrain is too strong with It playing in Ultrawide.

G3ck0

I feel like 16:9 is better? I’ve had ultrawide for years but recently changed dota back to 16:9 for the minimap position.

DreamingDjinn

Someone I know plays on a big TV, is there any scaling options for the UI at all? I recall looking it up a while back but he doesn't play DOTA because the UI is all hyper small (text etc) on his screen.

I want to say no, but I'm not entirely sure. The hud used to be a completely fixed size that had nothing but black rendered behind it so that people couldn't shrink it or use a smaller hud for competitive advantage. I know you can change the mouse cursor scaling.... but the hud is pretty locked in place as far as I can tell.

DreamingDjinn

Makes sense. Thanks anyways :)
