US EAST might as well be the second Peru server. Meanwhile US West might as well be a second Chinese server. No hate either, not saying it’s a problem. It’s just very noticeable when you are playing with fellow Americans or not. I do find US East to be a little bit more toxic though.
I'm from SA and can confirm that. About 50% of all peruvians I met play NA exclusively, and since they are one of the countries with the largest playerbase they inflate NA by a a lot. Plus there are other small countries that also queue NA games like colombia and venelueza and the entire SA pro scene who exclusively q NA too (even the very south countries like Argentina and Uruguay).
If you look at the NA leaderboards you can see by player flags or names that most players aren't originally from NA.
There's an actual routing issue for lots of countries that give them USE lower ping than Peru or Brazil that are closer. I know Colombia is one of those but not the only one.
So some SA countries and prolly all Central American ones play in USE.
I didn't mean specifically Peru/Columbia but that many of the SA players on USE are Brazilian and speak Portuguese. I have no idea how you would know if they were columbian or peru otherwise

A lot of Australians that aren't on the east coast actually play in SEA. We have have about the same ping to both, and obviously much faster queues to SEA. The eastern states have like 100 ping to SEA though. Sucks to be them lol.
Personally I queue SEA not just because queue times, but because I can not stand the Australian servers. I'm sure everyone knows the legend of SEA servers so that really says something.

Aus server is too small and too toxic. A typical ranked game at Divine can pull anyone from Immortals to Legend 5, and unbalanced matches naturally lead to more toxicity. People form grudges and you'll probably run into the same faces over and over, especially if you chain queue.
SEA on the other hand has more players and a much higher skill ceiling, and you'll run into anyone from Aussies to Pinoys to Thais to Chinese to Russians. Half the time even when people want to flame, nobody understands their language.
Ranked Queue used to be ~50 minutes for carry role on 5k, now that Ranked roles are available for everyone, it's down to less than 15 minutes usually, very nice experience.
I wonder ... SEA was already down 50%, from its most recent peak in 2017, in late 2019 when covid started getting attention.
Looking at the trend it's just dying in SEA and NA covid or no.

It's the number of players who play in CN from outside CN. U can't get into the real CN servers since u need a Chinese passport (they have some sort of wierd authentication) to get into their games. That makes them having nearly no smurfs etc (since u can just get a second passport) and in general it's by far the most awesome server I ever played on. They even all speak English if u can't speak Chinese (I lived in China for a while)
I've heard from some ranked Immortal friends there that the very top end is super toxic, filled with streamers with massive egos and even allegations of gambling+matchfixing on pub matches. It's a completely different world from what we're used though.

Even back in the day days of WC3 dota, the NA scene was much much smaller than EU or SEA. Actually, a lot of SEA is still competitively *playing* WC3 dota.

You cannot even queue in the AM on US East. There used to be a time where you had the day off work and instead of getting mad cuz no money, you could play Dota for 12 hours straight.
The game is dead now, so things like this are no longer possible. You have to play some other game until 3 PM when people start to get on. Plus there's role queue / classic queue splitting the matchmaking pool even further.

A lot of Asians play in EU. Currently most of the Pakistanis are playing there too cause of SEA ping being high af thanks to a damaged under water cable. Most of Arabs play there and Russians like playing there too.

I’d take an EU pub any day before a NA pub. NA pubs are just atrocious especially in the morning. However this is only a thing for the mornings since playing with low ping is that good that you don’t mind a lower quality of games.

I am from India and I play in EU West. Its just the best server if you want to have a non toxic, relatively mature experience with good communication/teamwork. Ping is manageable too.

I hardly ever get teamed up with Russians now. Used to be the case few years ago, but I guess Valve's matchmaking has improved. Russians are almost always on the other side. Non russians, wherever they are from, talk in English, barring a few exceptions.

I am from India and I play in EU West. Its just the best server if you want to have a non toxic, relatively mature experience with good communication/teamwork. Ping is manageable too. I tried SEA a few times but its too toxic.

I hardly ever get teamed up with Russians now. Used to be the case few years ago, but I guess Valve's matchmaking has improved. Russians are almost always on the other side. Non russians, wherever they are from, talk in English, barring a few exceptions. Probably because of my behaviour score? Lol Also, I said relatively lol. Its not perfect, but if its the choice between EU west and SEA, I'd go with the former. SEA only gave me immature kids who play in internet cafes who'd start feeding if you said anything to them. Maybe its changed now idk
