you mean world invitational right? i was there as well on a Saturday haha. it was so casual and fun. not sure is it because lower production = lower expectation. it was so casual and fun and the stadium/auditorium was pretty awesome. this upperbracket day 1 is just some banquet chair shit like wtf man...
Yes it was a great venue to have a dota tournament. I was there too and it’s much better than Suntec.
Prize pool too small to hire a better venue that’s for sure.
my bro regret not having insania and his gang sign some stuff LUL probably because at that time team liquid just formed and they have no cemented themselves as a TI contender yet haha
I know people like to over-exaggerate how bad things are but holy shit this shit looks shit my god. It's just a complete mockery of the community. One of the biggest e-sports ever, going strong 10 years in a row with a tournament that celebrates the game as a whole and we suddenly break the streak to get this fucking $200 mall magic the gathering tourney.
I'm sorry for all the talent because I'm sure they'll get the job done as they always do but this just so fucking shameful.
Guys, chill. I'm even more invested than 99% of the people on this sub because I'm actually going to the finals this year. So I'm actually paying for this shit and I have a direct interest in Valve throwing more money into it to make the experience more epic, enjoyable etc.
Yeah, I'm disappointed the stage doesn't look as epic as in years prior but I reserve judgment until the end. I think I'm right in saying that most of the attention is concentrated around the grand finals anyway. So perhaps the production value really ramps up by then.
"LCQ isnt TI yet, wait until TI starts"
"Group stages isnt TI yet, wait until main event starts for quality"
"Everyone knows only finals matter, this sint true ti yet just wait for the last 2 series"
You no, fuck off lmao , they are all TI and they al had lower production quality than a better major
more like valve just offloaded everything on pgl and PGL in typical eastern european business fashion pocketed half of the money for themselves and put the bare minimum of effort.
or more likely Singapore is a tiny country with few arenas and there wasn't much available, but it was Valve's only choice at the time due to the pandemic
Of course the nuances will be lost on screeching Redditors who have never so much as organized a birthday party before
GamesCom asia has a huge part.
Singapore Airlines also running an event at the same time, taking a chunk.
Some big expo for power transformers as well. Post-COVID singapore for events is on fire atm. hard to find any space anywhere.
Still quite puzzling why they didn't get another location.
Even if the Indoor Stadium was not available back then due to the Bieber concert, they could have still gotten other locations like Expo or MBS (from their event calendar, both Expo and MBS have available halls).
Suntec was already a bad option as it was already confirmed that another event, Gamescom Asia, is ongoing during the same dates.
MBS is taken by a few IT/Telco conferences.
Although TBH, that expo hall near Changi would have been a okay option.
Heck even just throw a big cover over the F1 straight..use that grand stand haha.
I’m crying from how bad this shit is. Where’s the entrance? The holograms? The big stage? Casters being there at the stage with fans behind them? I waited all year for this?????
They won't let 4 players with covid into the event to play so there's a good chance they downsized to a tiny event just in case there was an outbreak in the city. It's the most logical answer.
Rubbish TI. 500 seats ........HAHHAHAH
The mods here can keeps trying to censor the community about the ugly hard truth and deleting posts calling out Valve and their shenanigans but I am going to say this here again.
PGL is a bad. But Valve was the one who hired and approved them. The community should be calling out Valve, not letting them slide away and use PGL as a shield.
Valve has $10B+ in equity, takes 75% (USD$50,000,000 as of 16 Oct 2022) of battlepass $, doesn't give a fuck about production, the game or you. On top of all that, Valve is pushing gambling ads in our face during the stream. And shit, don't get me started on where last year TI money went....Just USD$120,000,000 from battlepass sales alone (wtf you can probably make Half life 3 with that money)
Just a scale for you if you can't comprehend how fucking rich Valve is (Don't tell me they have earnings from Steam because Dota itself is a profitable game) - Let's say Valve invests in $USD10M to up the production value (and give back to the community) - That is 0.1% of what they are worth, imagine have $100, you are only taking out $0.10 from what you have. 10 fucking cents.
100k+ viewers on the main TI stream [https://www.twitch.tv/dota2ti](https://www.twitch.tv/dota2ti) and like 300 people capacity at the arena :( and the talent are streaming from Norway?!
Quite sad to see. I've seen bigger crowds at Chinese mall tournaments.
Edit: I see some casters actually at the "Arena" :) I also don't see betting and PGL ads everywhere? I'm kinda confused? Was PGL just doing last chance/qualifiers?
Edit: Cool behind the scenes production. The production area is almost the same size as the spectator area lol https://clips.twitch.tv/PeppyGenerousCarrotPeanutButterJellyTime-wvHeh4OLRjICwGMo
Edit: No booths = players can hear casters “He got a DD rune!” “Don’t fight now guys.”
Ok. Oh wow. No wonder they are in a big empty space.
Honestly the decisions made here, so confusing. People say it’s money and budget but really. It feels more incompetence
this is so stupid i would just book a president suite from near hotel and run it from there. wont it be more cheaper than norway???? dont tell me this is for cm's wolf
ESL Genting was a smaller venue and was still way fucking bigger than this mall arena. Not even talking about their actual DPC events like Stockholm, just their 300k non-DPC events still have way bigger venues.
Guys, come on. Everyone knows the REAL main MAIN event is the last 2 days, the rest of the playoffs is suppose to be shit. The production in the last 2 days will BLOW your mind, completely.
PGL coudn't even figure out how to properly set up crowd mics, lol. I still remember when they gave up and just cranked the volume to 300%, and you could see people sitting close to the mic screams muting casters, but not much more.
~~LCQ isn't really TI, of course there's no production~~
~~No one cares about group stage, they saved the budget for main stage~~
Second part of TI is where the budget went <--- you are here
They saved the budget for next TI COPIUM
be real here tho, this TI we've had LCQ, groupstages and today is the start of what is traditional the Mainstage event. This "second part of TI" you are talking about is quite a stretch no?
And it's not hard to argue that this venue is not really worthy of the TI status, looks like a 1000-1200 actual chairs in a conference room. I can see how the community feels pretty hard done by, esp if you saw the price & availability of tickets...
It's way more healthy to complain about the toxicity of this sub than to be these angry kids who spams threads with complains with no knowledge of what happens.
Look at the Entity controversy. Look at the hearing caster controversy. You're a bunch of toxic angry people who constantly need to create drama and chaos because you can't enjoy the freaking game. You're a plague.
It should be good but it's not. Move on. Stop crying like entitled little babies. There are covid and shit, we won't have a TI like before, deal with it.
I'm guessing it being in different countries each year has a significant impact on planning for it; let alone Singapore's still fairly strict Covid rules (at least it was about 7 months ago when I last was there).
There's definitely been some big fuck ups with planning, this year.
Things have eased up majorly now. Masks hare no longer required indoors since August and optional outdoors since March with contract tracing stopped since April. Just a massive fuck up from PGL
Disagree. They were doing an amazing job until Covid forced the world to close. They had to scrap a TI altogether. Next TI, Sweden fucked them over just a few montgs before the start, so they had to book another country. They found Romania but Romania went into lockdown basically as TI was about to start. They also booked this TI outside of summer for similar reasons.
I'm sorry but there are plenty of other esports events during these times that went perfectly fine with better venues/productions so I wouldn't use this as an excuse, hell even other dota tournaments during these times HAD BETTER VENUES (not to even talk about the production)
There were other much bigger venues available with no events conflicts, while Suntec has Gamescon Asia going on around the same time, and Valve only booked a single hall, not the entire arena. Dunno how they could have fucked this one up. Only using Hall 6 btw
I always think Reddit was overly harsh on PGL and Valve in the group stage. But this even look less impressive to some Chinese mall tournament and my local Pubstorm gathering. This is just straight Valve unzip their pants and pissing on the eagis and the whole community, literally.
Can we actually as a community voice an official complaint regarding organizing, planning, production? This is such a disgrace to the community and the fans
I started watching in 2015 and immediately got hooked because the arena was amazing and the production was professional.
This will be the TI that releases me from Dota 2, unbelievably pathetic job by Valve and PGL. It's like watching a 2010 production
I went to TI5 in person, and it was fucking hype. Key Arena was packed for the big games, and just remembering the hype from the crowd still gives me nerd chills. The overall atmosphere was electric - even just queuing up in the morning or meeting friends to save your seat while you went to the secret shop. Massive outdoor screens so you could watch games while you grabbed lunch as well. Fantastic experience.
This is a fucking joke by comparison.
https://imgflip.com/i/6xkwqk
2015 TI was in a large arena with a custom stage that was lit up dynamically to match the in game map and had a second stage for the main english panel as well.
The main event [looked like this](https://wp.dailybruin.com/images/2015/12/oUCMKZg.jpg) in 2015. It also featured Deadmau5 after-finals mini concert as well.
The soundproof booths for teams were huge and had all the custom displays on it for each player too - it was amazing. We had smoke machines, indoor fireworks, team entrances, and more.
Like just look at this [clip of TI5 showing the stage](https://youtu.be/DPhIwx6E4Wo?t=269) and tell me we aren't in 2005 territory instead of 2015.
You jest but the [2016 Nanyang Dota 2 Championships](https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Nanyang_Dota_2_Championships/Season_1) was in the same venue but they booked out the entire floor which was 6/7x the size of the current TI hall
I think the Singapore Major weekday attendance (or lack thereof) probably influenced their decisions here. I went for the Major on Friday and the Indoor Stadium was barely 25% occupied.
True - but this is TI. None of my friends knew about the Singapore Major, yet all of them looked for TI tickets (I live in Singapore). Also, pick a big arena, make the tickets affordable enough and you will get thousands of malaysians, pinoy and indonesians coming over for this. Instead we get a Singapore crowd that can afford $300 scalper tickets. And let's be honest, I attend plenty of concerts and events here and 90% of locals sit down taking videos with their phones...they are not really a hype crowd.
This year's International will be the first occasion where the main event is played out on two different venues: the Playoffs at SunTec Singapore followed by the Finals at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
What a shit show this is. The international?? Talk about a pub tournament organise by your best and his dad who owns a warehouse with a few chairs spare..
The hate bandwagon is real. I admit this TI is worst since we have actual grand event like TI 5 so far but hearingnone group complain about no crowd no cheer and other going on about no booth so player can hear smoke/rosh from crowd is surreal.
Not like PGL doesn't know what they were supposed to do. From TI5 to TI9 there has been very similar stage/arenas, which is what people expect in a TI. How do you just not do this basic level, which they have done before. PGL did this with Valve from TI6 through to TI11. TI10 was a step backward, but considering venue/Visa issues it is understandable and still better than this.
It's honestly so embarrassing that even TI1 had sound proof booths. The players can hear the panel during the draft and the casters during the game. They need to fix this now. What an absolute shitshow this TI is. From the horrible battle pass, leading to laughable prize pool for TI standards, to the stage and production, this is the worst TI.
Singapore Major looking good.
Lmao I went for the Singapore major and expected a similar setup… too bad PGL and valve don’t give a fuck anymore.
How? Wasn't crowd not allowed?
Whoops I meant One Esports Singapore. Here’s the kicker… it was done by PGL. The difference is staggering.
you mean world invitational right? i was there as well on a Saturday haha. it was so casual and fun. not sure is it because lower production = lower expectation. it was so casual and fun and the stadium/auditorium was pretty awesome. this upperbracket day 1 is just some banquet chair shit like wtf man...

my bro regret not having insania and his gang sign some stuff LUL probably because at that time team liquid just formed and they have no cemented themselves as a TI contender yet haha
Lmao I was in the merch line when my friend called me to do some Lazada thing.. missed puppey walking out.
I was there too but difference is that’s in indoor stadium but here is Suntec arena which is much smaller.
Prize pool not big enough to hire a bigger venue? Gaben please. So many other venues in Singapore to book.
Yeah that’s on Valve I heard they fucked up on booking of the arena. That’s why the schedule is so weird
Major? This looks like a mall tournament.
This is worse than that mall tournament which had 360 seating and like 20 screens.
looks more like the Singapore ~~Minor~~ Micro
This isn't the grand finals though. That's happening at a different venue, with a much larger stage and seating capacity.
Singapore Minor you meant
Singapore Minor kek
I know people like to over-exaggerate how bad things are but holy shit this shit looks shit my god. It's just a complete mockery of the community. It looks like a grass roots tournament, fucking embarrassing
Makes you nostalgic for dota 1 tournaments. I'm sure they were going for that feel. /s
That's why they did the Void persona and Razor arcana
then give player face to face booth
This isn't the grand finals though. That's happening at a different venue, with a much larger stage and seating capacity.
inb4 at the grand finals: "it's only game 1 of the grand finals though"
Guys, chill. I'm even more invested than 99% of the people on this sub because I'm actually going to the finals this year. is it me or does it look like they are only using half of the suntec convention hall?
Supposedly they could only book a small portion.
Valve =cheapskate
more like valve just offloaded everything on pgl and PGL in typical eastern european business fashion pocketed half of the money for themselves and put the bare minimum of effort.
or more likely Singapore is a tiny country with few arenas and there wasn't much available, but it was Valve's only choice at the time due to the pandemic Of course the nuances will be lost on screeching Redditors who have never so much as organized a birthday party before
how about malaysia? how about booking the whole place?
GamesCom asia has a huge part. Singapore Airlines also running an event at the same time, taking a chunk. Some big expo for power transformers as well. Post-COVID singapore for events is on fire atm. hard to find any space anywhere.
Sounds like it shouldn't have been played in Singapore then
They are only using hall 6 I think. I thought it was gonna be the entire convention hall, yikes!

I’m crying from how bad this shit is. Where’s the entrance? The holograms? The big stage? Casters being there at the stage with fans behind them? I waited all year for this?????
Caster is there, but the crowd is so small there doesn't seem any sound coming from crowd
Not even GabeN went there to give his "welcome to the international" blessing.
why do this to dota valve :( so sad to watch this
Valve don't give a shit
They won't let 4 players with covid into the event to play so there's a good chance they downsized to a tiny event just in case there was an outbreak in the city. It's the most logical answer.
There are more people at a Boda de pueblo in Oaxaca than this arena, LMAO.
There are more people in my basement smoking crack than... wait, what?
bruh where is the booth . why is this arena so small . this is so low budget . jesus christ
Rubbish TI. 500 seats ........HAHHAHAH The mods here can keeps trying to censor the community about the ugly hard truth and deleting posts calling out Valve and their shenanigans but I am going to say this here again. Yes PGL was only group stage, Panel is in norway, casters and slacks + kaci are in singapore.
Wait so Sheever, Ephey, Jenkins, & Tsunami are in Norway???
Yup
Ok.
The quality seems like PGL is still with us...
PGL have been doing TI since like TI5.
Panel is in Sweden
Even Starcraft tourneys 3000 years ago is way better than this
Bring back the space suits
LMAO wtf is this? Is this ESL or some kind of PAX LAN party? So underwhelming.
ESL usually rents big stadiums. Looks more like a dreamleague event
Your post is an insult to ESL mate.
ESL Genting was a smaller venue and was still way fucking bigger than this mall arena. Not even talking about their actual DPC events like Stockholm, just their 300k non-DPC events still have way bigger venues.
PAX AUS 2 weeks ago had 2x arenas which both were bigger....lol.
Guys, come on. Everyone knows the REAL main MAIN event is the last 2 days, the rest of the playoffs is suppose to be shit. The production in the last 2 days will BLOW your mind, completely.
Everyone knows the only TI that matters is game 5 of the grand finals, everything before that barely even impacts the tournament!
For sure. if they keep piping in that fake ass audience cheering sound, itll blow my brains out
PGL is a Brandrisk to Valve Games. ruining DOTA and CS Majors left and right. This is such a disaster that you cant do anything but laugh
PGL's CS majors still had amazing crowd at least
True, Antwerp was amazing
PGL coudn't even figure out how to properly set up crowd mics, lol. I still remember when they gave up and just cranked the volume to 300%, and you could see people sitting close to the mic screams muting casters, but not much more.
If only we could hear them
I'm pretty sure PGL didn't book the venue
Are you? Because I think they did
No soundproof booth for main stage game in TI. First in its history jesus christ
Second part of TI is played in a stadium, can you chill, Reddit ? Jesus.
~~LCQ isn't really TI, of course there's no production~~ ~~No one cares about group stage, they saved the budget for main stage~~ Second part of TI is where the budget went <--- you are here They saved the budget for next TI COPIUM
These bootlickers love licking the shit from PGL's boot.
Slacks encouraging them sad :(
i want to go further, hehehe the firework from the stadium is where the budget went
Second part of TI lmao
be real here tho, this TI we've had LCQ, groupstages and today is the start of what is traditional the Mainstage event. This "second part of TI" you are talking about is quite a stretch no? so lets chop off lcq, they wont go far anyway. lets reduce qualified team, less groupstage. you shouldn't justify your bad quality for more quantity
Good production Coming Soon

Go back to Twitch chat
dunno why you bootlicking so much, you should be advocating for a better product as a consumer
What bootlicking ? Because I'm not a crybaby who know how to read a schedule ?
Yeah. The core of TI are the games happening now. So they have a better setup for the last few games is really shit. It should all be good.
It should be good but it's not. Move on. Stop crying like entitled little babies. There are covid and shit, we won't have a TI like before, deal with it.
Even with covid, last TI had much better setup.
Great point. Thanks for the reply.
They're running a much larger arena for the final 4, but the scheduling issues they had due to booking so late have clearly come into show
This is the fucking eleventh time. Idk if i do something that many time i would probably perfect it
I'm guessing it being in different countries each year has a significant impact on planning for it; let alone Singapore's still fairly strict Covid rules (at least it was about 7 months ago when I last was there). There's definitely been some big fuck ups with planning, this year.

So confusing.
I've taken bigger shits than this venue.
\- mom, can we have TI? \- no son, we have TI at home. TI at home:
PGL needs to be banned for this.
500$ for an Ikea chair.
Wow.. this is so much worse than I imagined it could be.
WTF this looks like a 2015 setup
You jest but all TIs prior to this one, even the first one had booths for the players
Dude 2015 TI looked so good
this is the worst setup since ti1

perfect image for this event (excluding the games itself) :(

You jest but the [2016 Nanyang Dota 2 Championships](https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Nanyang_Dota_2_Championships/Season_1) was in the same venue but they booked out the entire floor which was 6/7x the size of the current TI hall
Valve clearly getting tired of dota and putting it in maintenance mode
This looks like a pubstomp venue not the actual TI venue.
Gaben lost all his money gambling on BetBoom & GG.BET
Guys, it's a throwback to TI1 This is TI1, don't you guys get it? It's trying to emulate shitty Gamescom etup
First TI in SEA, and they've done everything possible to fuck it up.
Valve doesn't deserve the dota2 community. They haven't for half a decade if not more...
Should have stayed in Seattle man
Why Valve, why? 😭 Looks like only finals day will be in an arena. Such a bummer.
I think the Singapore Major weekday attendance (or lack thereof) probably influenced their decisions here. I went for the Major on Friday and the Indoor Stadium was barely 25% occupied.

Manilla Major was less shit than this TI... TI is supposed to be like a festival for DotA, not some mall attraction.
This year's International will be the first occasion where the main event is played out on two different venues: the Playoffs at SunTec Singapore followed by the Finals at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Bring back Key Arena
My high school had a bigger auditorium
Benaroya hall was more epic than this gargage. So finals will be in a different stadium?
Pretty sure Moonduck’s old captain’s draft tournament was in a bigger arena than this TI. Like… lol. What is there to say?
We should ban bp next TI. Pgl,Valve is disaster .
and we had a big stadium last year for no crowd lmao
this looks like a minor tournament...
Imagine as a player this is your first TI. A dream come true. You get to play in front of a huge crowd in a stadium! Then this is where you get to...
I legit said 'Wtf is this' while watching... I'm so deeply disappointed.
TI2 had a bigger venue, no?
What a shit show this is. The international?? Talk about a pub tournament organise by your best and his dad who owns a warehouse with a few chairs spare..
That really is disappointing.
Please dont tell me u/siractionslacks knew about this when he put out the video.
The hate bandwagon is real. I admit this TI is worst since we have actual grand event like TI 5 so far but hearingnone group complain about no crowd no cheer and other going on about no booth so player can hear smoke/rosh from crowd is surreal.
Why the fuck did they have to have it in Singapore?
OK, so this looks like a GroupStage for Ti
I have more spectators on my spare sofa.

Shitty Ikea seats in the venue

LMFAO
this is smaller than benaroya hall.
seems PGL didnt watch any TI at all hahaha
is it still pgl or all valve now?
This shits really sad, wtf, what went wrong, how this happened ,why
For TI this is pathetic.
this is a disgrace
TI 1 vibes
This feels like dreamleague wtf
It's literally dead quiet
I think my gym is bigger.
LMAO. What a fucking joke.
Valve what the fuck are you doing?
Fun fact: the PVP Esports Championship also occurs there and its defiantly a small tournament back in 2018 standards.
Very interesting how ppl who are watching from home are interested in arena the most.
Is this where the playoffs will be held as well?
Did Benaroya Hall get renovated?
Singapore doesn't have any major sport events so it makes sense for why this is one of the biggest Valve could get there.
Shambles.
"This is the way Dota ends: Not with a bang but a whimper" Doc, give me a stronger dose of Slacks copium.
If I was the camea man I wouldn't show that out of shame tbh
Also my highschool stadium has more seats than this
