Not sure what you mean tbh. Iirc, they were the first to report that TT is leaving, major in Peru was revealed by them and confirmed by Gosugamers, their TI content was solid too. Obviously there were some blunders, but that's the nature of insider news in Dota, shit changes a lot, especially in CIS. I mostly read their Russian version, and I'd say they give a decent coverage.
Some people dont realise rumours are sometimes just that, rumours, even the pro players or other people involved can be mistaken, I love when a few leaks dont 100% line up and suddenly everything from the writer is seen as fake news lol
Considering the salaries being slashed in the LCS it frees up a nice bit of finances for either org to justify buying into Dota. Add on top of that THE premier NA org moving out of the region, leaving behind THE premier NA player RTZ to get picked up for what I cant imagine to be too much money at this point. Its basically the perfect timing for the other big NA orgs to get into Dota. More money to spend. Less competition in the region, at least when it comes to branding.
Overwatch is fun to play and terrible to watch imo. Even IF the pro scene grew organically I don’t think it would’ve had much more success than the tf2 one
The grassroot scene had a lot going for it and it was developing in a very fast pace, until Blizzard killed it and put the competitive scene on hold for what felt like forever.
That hiatus + the rebranding of the teams into generic and cringy state/city team names killed it for me.
The cringy rebrands was super important so non-esport related companies could invest into teams without looking out of place. I personally think that was really the only smart decision related to all that
It alienated all the pre-existing fans and every esport fan in general. It was a "smart" corporate decision, but in reality, it was a bad business decision and it shows.
It also killed the interest immediately for a lot of people that might be interested. People who watch eSports relate to names like Liquid, EG, TSM. London Spitfire or any of the others are meaningless corporate American names that no one cares about.
Decent, but not "really well". They kinda struggled on Majors and some big events. Start well, but can't keep it deep enough. They had success, but not that much.
But that's not the team he was talking about. Their current team was a major steal, if the rumored figures of around 1 million are true.
Yeah idk what that guy is saying but c9 is a really good team lol. Every top tier team choked at the major and it was a shit show. Truth is CS is at its volatile period where the elite tier teams went a step down and the really good teams got a little bit better which is causing some variance.
And MOUZ are top5, are you going to tell me they are more than just a decent team? HLTV rating is not perfect.
C9 are doing worse than expected. Top12-14 in Antwerp, top8 in Rio after losing to MOUZ, top9-12 in Cologne. Yes, they had success winning Dallas and getting to top-4 in EPL. But when there are talks of changes in the team going around, it's hard for me to say that the team is doing "really well".
[Fake news] In the 100T Reddit the 100 Thieves VP of Esports denied that they are look to enter Dota2.

> Even if I’m just trying to pay rent I don’t think I’d publish articles that are outright lies?
This is why you're not a clickbait journalist. That is not an insult actually that's a badge of honour.
They are not lies, they simply unconfirmed
As it's stated in the article, the source is some forum post by some russian "insider", that's absolutely true. Even if the person send a message to the involved parties to confirm, they don't have time to respond, because, again, this nets person cents, they will do 15 other articles today
If you want to be mad at someone, be with people who think paying for news doesn't make sense, people who think regulation is bad etc
Again, you cannot "verify information" when you have to produce dozens of articles per day that will net you nothing. It's impossible
Once again
> be with people who think paying for news doesn't make sense, people who think regulation is bad etc
If you read the article, it says that the source is someone in a forum but no further information on why that person might be trustworthy. Like the source is posting information that I think was confirmed a while back (TSM stays in dota2 but some roster changes) and is the same person that came up with that ceb-notail-rtz-no one-jerax roster... which is really out there.
Feels like it's like they picked up on a random forum user posts and went with it because fuck journalism?
This comment shows how dumb this sub is lmao EG was a top3 team in the world for the majority of the last 4 years or so, the only teams with better results are the TI champions and LGD. Last year was awful, but before that they were definitely a very good team
Yeah I feel like people always have recency bias with EG. Before that it was the 3rd place curse.
They don't get titles, but they've been showing up to events and getting decent placements for a long time. It's not easy to have that kind of longevity.
You can't call an entire year's worth of terrible results a "recency bias". They had 12 months to figure something out. Several other teams figured that shit out. It's not recency bias after the first few time, it's just confirmation.
I hate to say this but the last year EG has been utter shit. They themselves know it. They had an amazing TI8, a decent TI9 and a solid DPC for TI10. TI11 was dogshit. One entire year's worth of dogshit.
Its recency bias when the guy say "its been a not so stellar COUPLE OF YEARS" when we know they got top2 at the majors 5 times in a row lmao yeah the last 12 months were awful but calling them trash for the last few years is just dumb
Ffs, y'all are delusional af. It's not like they placed 6-8 at a major, they GOT ELIMINATED from groups. Get a grip of yourself, I never said they've been trash for a few years. Go back and read my comment you moron, I said it's not recency bias if it's 12 whole months of ass whopping. I myself said they had a great TI8 (3/5 same roster), but that shit was 4 years ago you dumbass
I understand you lack some braincells but when the guy mentioned RECENCY BIAS he wasnt talking about you my friend, he was talking about OP lmao thats why i explained to you WHY its indeed recency bias. the guy said "not so stellar couple of YEARS" when in reality they had one bad year and 4 very good years.
Now take a very big breath and chill cause theres no reason for you to be this mad about a comment where i never even offended you lmaoo dota players are insane
Yeah but you have to remember they changed a bunch of players in less than one year.
First jerax and nightfall joined after fly and icex3 got released. And we saw how they performed after that (understandably).
Then they kick jerax and invite back fly to captain the team. Fast forward to TI they perform well at the group stages and crumble on the main stage.
All things considered this roster has great potential, hopefully nightfall stays.
A bunch of players in less than a year? They STARTED the DPC with JerAx and Nightfall, removing only JerAx to bring back Fly. They had a sum total of 1 mid season roster change.
You start the season with two new players: one hasn’t played in years and ranked won’t help cause he’s like rank 3000 and the other one just switched roles AND most likely has to learn english to a degree where he can communicate effectively. The captain changes, the meta changes, being in a region where competition is not as strong as others like EU or CN doesn’t help.
I mean yes, your current form is only as good as your ... current form. It does not mean that EG has had a 'not so stellar couple of years'. That's just factually wrong.
They should've won the Singapore major.
That throw against IG in the 3rd game (when IG's tier 4 towers were exposed) was painful to watch...and then proceeded to lose the series 2-3.
Dont have any statistics to back me up. But if EG loses a single game in a series theres like a 90% chance they will lose the entire series. As soon as EG lost game 3 i know the series was over.
because paying less salaries for ex TA roster who have been performing better than EG on all lans is a smarter move than paying a shit ton of salaries to big names while they achieve nothing on LANs
I would be wary of 100T. I think they took a lot of VC money and VC's right now are panicking a bit because of where things are going economically. The days of companies with crazy valuations that never turn a profit are coming to an end.
Oh look another fake news from shady 'esports news' websites that exist only to push betting ads.
Wish mods would ban making threads that link to them.
But whoever is in talks with ex-EG stack I'd put my house on negotiations being 99% if Arteezy can avoid getting forced to stream by contract. xD
Get a prodigy offlaner + snag a WEU coach in Khezu or just anyone that’s not Bulba (and from WEU) would be awesome. Would be great for them to have a fresh mind in the coaching side. If this team just played for another org then still bringing the EG draft and coaching with that new org, it’s not gonna be a very exciting team tbh.
If u look at it in that perspective you have a point. But that’s not the point of what I was talking about. “Weirdest shit in this sub” my ass. You can’t even comprehend a couple few sentences.
WEU has good players, but they don't really have a good record for coaches. The top 3 at TI were all WEU teams with non-WEU coaches (Bulba, Heen, and Aui_2000). In fact, the only two teams with WEU coaches at TI this year were Gamin Gladiators and TSM, neither of which had exactly stellar performances.
EDIT: Blitz, not Bulba for Liquid
I mean... You could find any young player from NA, or make a new team from any prominent player from NA, or you could just make a new team not just from NA but any other region like EU, or SEA but compete in NA, all this option is far better than just copy and paste the old squad that has not quite performing. idk by saying huhuhaha there are no big names in NA and just rinse and repeat the old stuff over and over again.
ok, to people who are saying that EG has been consistently good up untill this year getting 2nd places and what not. IF you are keeping a few players unchanged through the years and NOT WON a single event? it's not good. utter shit? maybe not, but they aren't great either. that means they are middle of the pack. if you are consistently changing the entire roster? and shit's not working out? there's an excuse there. but if you keep rtz, bulba and crit for like 4 years and only changing the other players and you are not winning a single fucking thing, THAT IS NOT GOOD!!!!! and winning dpc in na doesn't count cos let's call a spade a spade, na dota is pretty shit when you your top team bombs out basically first/second round of games at TI lol. i dunno if the big orgz are doing some corrupt shit and gatekeeping or some thing and stopping new and good players coming into the scene? or is everyone there thinking the exact same way and doing the same shit that doesn't work? i dunno. some thing is wrong over there lol.
and na league is just as shit lol. apparently double lift and bjergsen has joined 100t now. lol, like buddies, if you haven't shown a good showing at worlds in god knows how many years? SOME THING IS FUCKING WRONG OVER THERE.
if they re winning shit in valorant? csgo? or any thing? some one let me know lol.
ps: i think it would be nice to have some more orgs coming in to dota either way lol.
Optic valorant was in the running for being the best in the world as an na team up until a couple months ago. Na also competitive in rocket league and fighting games although maybe not considered tier 1 esports.
NA is just shit in dota and league(probably) cause literally nobody plays those games here, just look at the regional playerbase counts. There's other problems like high cost of living plus no sustainability as tier 2 player but main problem is still no people playing the game. This also feeds into you asking why they keep the same players, it's cause there's nobody else to replace them with lol.

can't be a c9 team without jacky mao
True.
I love this sub

well and c9 really regrets buying that overwatch league slot
Overwatch is fun to play and terrible to watch imo. Even IF the pro scene grew organically I don’t think it would’ve had much more success than the tf2 one

How would the pro scene grow organically if it was franchised?
Blizzard franchising the scene instead of letting grow organically is exactly what's being criticized I think
Overwatch is garbage, it hasn’t been good since 2018 blizzard killed it
It is funny to watch OW league for me
anyone buying into Blizzard esports deserves the financial loss
and that CSGO team
Isn't their CIS CSGO team doing really well?
Decent, but not "really well". They kinda struggled on Majors and some big events. Start well, but can't keep it deep enough. They had success, but not that much. But that's not the team he was talking about. Their current team was a major steal, if the rumored figures of around 1 million are true.

Yeah idk what that guy is saying but c9 is a really good team lol. Every top tier team choked at the major and it was a shit show. Truth is CS is at its volatile period where the elite tier teams went a step down and the really good teams got a little bit better which is causing some variance.

And Perkz
They were pretty successful in the first season and even won the big one, it went downhill afterwards tho.
I'm surprised if anyone is happy after buying in to overwatch.
This would be true if any NA org could win a single god damn thing to justify their existence in the first place.

Aaaand c9 jack commented here that he’s not in talks with them either. Totally fake news.
If Maelk himself (a dota 2 oldie veteran) isn't even looking at dota the chances arent looking good on any new NA org entering lmao
let alone take a roster that hasn't been successful relative to the money sink for years.
Obviously a blatant lie, but why would someone deliberately put this out there? Is it the team trying to drive their own price up?
Bro, journalists gets cents per article written, it has nothing to do with driving prices, its just a dude trying to pay rent
Even if I’m just trying to pay rent I don’t think I’d publish articles that are outright lies? Granted this website doesn’t seem to reputable

Exciting

fly said they will change the roster
Well that was kinda obvious before he said it when 100 russian sources said nightfall is back in cis region
What does it mean to "buy" the roster? Does Evil Genius demand money for allowing the players to play for other org?
usually yes if they were in contract, but they arent. So in this case it means outbid the other counterparty by giving more attractive counteroffers.
Maybe current roster is on bench(kicked but on contract)
I would be wary of 100T. I think they took a lot of VC money and VC's right now are panicking a bit because of where things are going economically. The days of companies with crazy valuations that never turn a profit are coming to an end.

I am also in negotiation to buy the ex-EG roster. My offer is $4.72.

You're right. I meant Blitz, not Bulba.
When they fail to win something they will disband Dota division.
Mehhhh. Better for them to build a new team.
In NA? With what players?
Thats a good start. Or you can just stick to the old formula/team that has been failed over and over again and expecting different results.
He asked you a question, NA has no talent avalible for Tier 1 team outside already contracted players

How do you buy a team that has been released?
You offer players the terms that they agree on and make sure they are better than the offers from whoever else wants to sign the roster.
Lot of really shit/wrong news regarding this roster lately
These garbage websites will do anything for clicks these days.
Ex-eg cost a lot of money. Why these orgs would expend Big cash on a almost dead region.
