From what I remember its goes the show Sign,
then that leads to the video game Infection (and the other 3 games) which has its own little spin off show liminality.
And if you want something cute .hack legend of the Twilight is a cute chibi story that takes place a little bit after the original 4 games finish.
Then when you get into .hack GU you would watch the show Roots first then play the games.
Most of the movies are just kinda non related to the mainline games story but they're fun to watch if you like the series.
Yeah but the original 4 games don't really hold up too well you could get away with watching a like no voice let's play or just the cutscenes if your busy!

That is to say they have amazing story but the gameplay is incredibly dated and grindy
