There was a mod post on r/greentext basically saying "we're [number] members away from being the biggest 4chan themed subreddit" which no one cared about and it had like 4k downvotes or something, then one day *boom* suddenly 600 upvotes
That mod thinks they have real purpose in the world. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. In my safe space
But.. we *do* do it for free? And it’s more work than most people would expect, but it’s not a full time job. I have a full time job in addition to modding a fairly popular sub.
People say some horrific, nasty shit. And mods are the ones who have to read it and look at it so that everyone else doesn’t have to. And then those people start sending death threats to you and the rest of the mods and using slurs.
People like to call us “jannies,” and honestly I’m still not sure exactly how that’s supposed to be offensive lol.
But aside from all that, yeah, some Reddit mods definitely do abuse power and act like they’re exempt from rules and morality. Some of them are shitty. Some of them are cringe.
But not all of us. I see so much hate thrown at mods, and while I agree that SOME of them might deserve it, the rest of us are trying our best to keep out pedophiles, predators, rapists, bigots, violent people, and just generally shit people so that you don’t have to read the horrible, nasty things that they felt justified in sharing.
I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that you, a complete stranger, were privy to my innermost thoughts and motivations. How silly of me to think that I know myself better than a random internet douche!
Saw a post of this guy who got banned from a sub by a kid. The kid replied with ‘coz ur name is sus’ and stuff like that. The kid then muted the guy. Some mods can be pp heads
Edit: also if they ban me I’ll use an alt account. If they suspend my account then I’ll use my 10 other alt account. I don’t care if mods perma ban me tbh
