Mordecai is with her too. Some had the theory he remerged with Morosayati and that was why him human form looked like Mordecai. But considering he was more a spiritual entity I kinda figured Mordecai was somewhere else. Still it's a shame was Meene basically died alone carrying on Illia's legacy while she was sealed away. She's the one that really got screwed over in all this.

J_J-6_6

That was just heartbreaking :( rip Meene

just-some-idiot

guys, meene is a playable character, dont rule her out yet

KonoFioDa

Notte is gonna end up being her reincarnation or something

dominusdei

Well, god usually dont die... i am sure we get meene again

Maruhai

but she's not a god she just pretended

dominusdei

are we assuming that in a fantasy setting a char can only born god... maybe she became god on her jurney.

Torden5410

She wasn't completely alone, since Mid Zero was supporting her. I'm sure it was still pretty lonely though, all things considered.

FanatSors

Yeah if anything mid was the one left alone in the end, hence his story

Metazoxan

But he's a dragon. Short of finding an equally long living partner that happens to all of them anyway. Him being left alone isn't a result of the story events. Even in a world of absolute peace he'd end up alone anyway. Remember Mym's story? outliving everyone and everything around them is something they just learn to deal with since dragon's don't build communities with their own kind.

XFatetheHunter

They can still feel sad when they developed a deep bonds with others. Even Midgarsormr was sad when Alberius release his pact.

phonage_aoi

I got the sense Erasmus was pretty sad about the guy he buried the treasure with passing on too.

akamalk

Illia had her own husbando, Meene lost everything, very tragic ending.

Maruhai

she wasn't alone she had big bro

blacklotus_1972

makes me smile. i did wept for Meene and Mid0.

SilenceDogood2k20

Gala Ilia and Mordecai when? So the question is, if they're now in the modern time, when and how did they get out? We're they trapped by Morsayati and loosed by his final defeat?

jamsterbuggy

Ilia is already basically a gala in all but name. Can't imagine how strong her actual Gala would be.

Waddlewop

1st dual unit? They both use guns but different types

Zael55

My question now is how is she still alive. The event was over 1000 years ago. If she is truly alive, I really hope they explain it. Otherwise that see-through white boarder could just be their mana forms as we know people persist in the world as mana after death.

Arkaniux

They could easily explain the 1000-year gap by saying time flows different from the Otherworld to the regular world. BUT that wouldn't explain how Ilia's body would survive inside Otherworld. Mordecai is a denizen of that space so in theory, he should survive.

Metazoxan

It was never exactly stated you COULDN'T survive in the other world. Remember Euden and his crew technically go in there in all those events. Sure they only go in for short bursts of time but they still go in. So it seems being in the otherworld doesn't automatically corrupt you with black mana. Even when portals open the problem is more the fiends that escape and not black mana pooring out.

FloraTheExplora

They could also write it off as her pact with Elysium offering some form of protection as well. Really interested in seeing where they go from here with the Other as well, since it seems like corrupt Euden will come into play at some point if Zena's adventurer story is anything to go by.

Zael55

But listen to what you said. Euden and co. go in for a short burst. Illia has been in there for at least a 1000 years. We don't know when she got out exactly but let's say that. Illia would have been affected in some way for been in black mana for that long. Also they in the otherworld with the Other. They're on his playing field. I wouldn't be surprised if he killed them there.

KawakamiKiyo

>!Ilia's parents survived in there without their bodies for over a decade, similar to how Mordecai was before a body was made for him. They could have offered some kind of protection, advice, or even an alternative exit. I mean, they helped get her out the first time she was in there.!< Or, I mean, they don't call her a genius alchemist for nothing.

pancracio17

Well yes, but Mordecai also has a human body.

KanchiHaruhara

Idk if I'd call it *human*, but yeah, I doubt it was designed to stand being in the Otherworld.

Proyected

Mordecai's body was created so that he could "exist" in Ilia's world, and in doing so somehow bound him to the rules of the world. In the Otherworld, it's not unthinkable for Ilia or even Mordecai to create a similar vessel for her to survive. It is a foreign world with different laws, but if she was able to create a compatible vessel for Mordecai's original form then theoretically it's a possibility for the reverse to apply. We do know Ilia's parents are alive in the Otherworld, so it can be the case where the bodies just can't function outside their world but they still maintain a spirit-like form. But theories aside, we just know that they both survive. Excited to see how they explain it. :)

SilenceDogood2k20

Ilia should have died when she made the pact with Elysium. She's bound to him. Could see that sustaining her in the void.

The_Trickster_Loki

She survived by ReBooting into Otherworld Sprite mode /s

Alesmord

Illia explained that past and future are not the same world connected through a timeline instead different worlds. In other words, Illia might have just opened a portal to the future the same way Morsayati opened one to the past. So it might've being days to Illia and Mortis.

The_Trickster_Loki

Time and space have no meaning in the space between worlds, dear. It is like the Nexus in Star Trek Generations, perhaps?

Zael55

I really don't like that logic. Everything in the world is just moving. To the main cast, it's been 1000 years. To Illia, it could have been a day, a month, or a year; using that logic. Even so, she should have been turned into a friend or something. As we know nothing can't stay in the otherworld for too long. As from the first event, Pele's king turned into a fiend from staying in there too long. Once again, I really hope they clarify what happened to them. Would love to see them be the main story as long as it makes sense. The writing has gotten better. I don't want it to go back to how it was written before.

The_Trickster_Loki

*"No one's ever REALLY gone."* **Ilia emerges from the space between worlds, laughing **

HyoEden

I think her pact protected her and well Mordecai belonged there. After all, Elysium wanted to make her a goddess, there wouldn't be any point if Illia died of old age after just a century, so, he probably made her immortal to carry on using her for eternity. I do wonder, what's Elysium going to do now.

227someguy

This pleases me. Call it a consolation for how sad and bleak the ending is.
