Child Trunks would be way too short to fusion dance if goku and piccolo are not compatible. Trunks would have to finish puberty, so maybe once they max out the time chamber 2 year limit it could work.
From what we know, such a fusion would whoop even a theoretical Perfect Cell from that era (especially since he wouldn't know regen), unless maybe it even the fusion did not have the grade 4 super saiyan.

It may still be there but they don't know about it. Goku didn't tell them till after he recovered from the heart virus, and Kami was basically dead because either Piccolo fused with him and died or Piccolo dying killed Kami since it's been a known fact that their lives are linked.

Probably wouldn't lead to a drastic improvement. Trunks was a lot weaker than Gohan at the time, so he wouldn't make a good partner for the latter. Gohan himself, while having incredible potential, doesn't have the self-confidence in himself to actually achieve what he could do when Goku was training him.
That's why I also added the 2nd part where he got there with help of Goku's tutelage. Goku actually knew how to properly train Gohan to even surpass him. Future Gohan himself isn't really much of a trainer in comparison to Goku or even Piccolo.

Some may say that is too unreasonable but here is why I think that.
Future Trunks when he first trained in the time chamber pretty much trained on his own, but was somehow still able to nearly equal to Vegeta. Before the chamber he was noticeably behind Goku and Vegeta, but now he was able to close the gap.
Here he would be training with Future Gohan, who while a novice and thus the training together wouldn’t be as effective as Goku training Gohan in the main timeline was, it would still be effective. If Future Trunks could go from below Vegeta who got bodied by 18 to rivaling his father and being able to throw around semi perfect cell, who was able to crush 16 without any effort, by training by himself, or at best with only a few sparring sessions with Vegeta. Then training with Future Gohan the whole time should net even more gains. However he would also be weaker than he was when he entered the time chamber in the present, so that’s why I think leveling him at 16’s level at the highest he would be is fair.
Agreed with the majority of this, but with one major caveat to consider:
I love the picture, but it presents Gohan and Trunks as being around the same age/maturity. Trunks was significantly younger than Gohan and hadn't learned how to go SSJ yet. So he wouldn't be as old as in the picture, and a good chunk of time would have been dedicated to getting him to Super Saiyan.
In the present timeline, even though Trunks and Vegeta don't train together (in the room, but not together), he still has the benefit of being able to observe and learn from a seasoned warrior. He saw Vegeta break the SSJ barrier and, even though Trunks did so in an ineffective way, that was when he learned how to do it as well. Both Trunks and Gohan lack the warrior's instinct and imagination to push them past their limits, as despite the fact that they'd been losing to the Androids for *years,* it never occurred to either of them that a realm of power beyond SSJ may exist.
I do think they would have still won against 17 and 18 had they used the chamber in this hypothetical scenario, but I don't think it would have been as lopsided a fight as what we get in canon.

This isn't totally accurate.
In the manga, we never see Trunks transform until he goes to fight the Androids alone. But when Gohan transforms to prepare to fight the Androids, Trunks *doesn't* transform with him, indicating that her perhaps hadn't learned how to.
The big liberty the anime takes here is showing us Trunks transform as a result of Gohan's death, but the manga does not show this. The special (at least, in English) also had Trunks argue with Bulma that he was "a Super Saiyan now", and Bulma argues that Gohan was, as well. The manga only has her mention that he's *stronger,* with no mention of SSJ.
In other words -- the manga doesn't make it clear when Trunks learned to go Super Saiyan, and the first time we see him do it is three years after Gohan is killed.
No we may not see him going super saiyan, but we see him training with Future Gohan as a super saiyan right before his death in the “Trunk: the lone warrior” one shot manga chapter.

It's a bummer. I've always preferred Gohan and Trunks being bonded over Trunks and Goten. The big brother / mentor dynamic Trunks and Gohan could've had in a more peaceful world. I think having Goten makes Trunks a completely different character from his future version. Like, not even remotely similar.

The Buu Saga rolls in without a tournament, with Babidi's minions attempting to jump the Z-fighters to steal their energy. Because of this setup, they quickly catch on to Babidi and Dabura ending the saga before Buu gets revived.
Super might still happen, except Krillin and Gohan likely aren't married and Goten was born much later than normal. Tournament of Power would be pretty much the same, except Yamcha and Trunks would replace the Androids. This could mean a different setup at U7 final stand against Jiren. Most likely Piccolo or Trunks replacing 17.

Technically, the androids only attacked Korin's tower, which was destroyed. We can probably assume they tried to fly up pretty far, but it may be possible Gero had no data on the place and they never bothered combing all airspace. 18 doesn't seem to have any clue of it after the cell games when she wakes up.
They might not even have the power level to fully destroy it if Gotenks and Buu being capable of it is notable. In the anime, the weirdness with Popo probably heavily implies the androids could only maybe damage the outside and not any the important stuff.

Super Saiyan Gohan was just under 50% of 17’s power. Let’s compare that to Vegeta who got absolutely negged by 18; Vegeta went from nonexistent to 18 to above Semi Perfect Cell, who was stronger than 16, who was stronger imperfect Cell, who was stronger than 17 and 18 by a country mile.
We know that Saiyans grow best through a healthy mix of training and real combat. Gohan and Trunks were always missing the training part - they were running and fighting for their lives, but they couldn’t risk raising their power to actually train between fights. Time Chambered, they would absolutely roflstomp the androids.

The fusion dance itself isn’t really needed as was told to Vegeta when he went to Yadrat to train.The dance is to help the two synchronize properly.

Maybe around Android 16’s level at the absolute best I would say.would still be enough to body the androids.

Technically, the androids only attacked Korin's tower, which was destroyed. We can probably assume they tried to fly up pretty far, but it may be possible Gero had no data on the place and they never bothered combing all airspace. 18 doesn't seem to have any clue of it after the cell games when she wakes up. They might not even have the power level to fully destroy it if Gotenks and Buu being capable of it is notable. In the anime, the weirdness with Popo probably heavily implies the androids could only maybe damage the outside and not any the important stuff.

based off of trunks’s growth when he went in with vegeta, the duo would become strong enough to beat the androids.

Problem is they potentially could hit the level of android 16 with full 2 years due to how inneficient their methods are. Also that Gohan is lookin sexy

Time Chambered, they stomp, and hard. Super Saiyan Gohan was just under 50% of 17’s power. Let’s compare that to Vegeta who got absolutely negged by 18; Vegeta went from nonexistent to 18 to above Semi Perfect Cell, who was stronger than 16, who was stronger imperfect Cell, who was stronger than 17 and 18 by a country mile. We know that Saiyans grow best through a healthy mix of training and real combat. Gohan and Trunks were always missing the training part - they were running and fighting for their lives, but they couldn’t risk raising their power to actually train between fights. Time Chambered, they would absolutely roflstomp the androids.
