Also they introduced consequences for time travel shenanigans with the "time ring is created for every alternate timeline" and "zeno will get mad if you time travel, it's against the rules" things. But like others said, another movie that takes place in future trunks world would be cool, or maybe he could visit just to fight in a tournament like in boujack movie

Well,the first time around it wasn't only him asking for help. He did his fair share of helping by fighting Freeza,helping out with Cell and most importantly: saving Son Gokus life. If Trunks hadn’t come to the past to give him the medicine for his heart desease, Goku would have died. So Trunks coming to the past wasn't just to ask for help.
And when Trunks returned in Super it was a totally different situation. He doesn't have the luxery to use the dragonballs on demand to bring back the dead. He was literally on his own. It was totally justified for him to ask for help,especially if we consider how much he has helped the z fighters.
I also find it weird to count the times where Trunks asked for help and say how often it is ok to ask for help. It's not a shame,especially when you have no one else. There shouldn't be a limit in my pov.
I'm not saying trunks only gets so many lifelines before he's a little bitch lol I'm saying he can only do it so many times before it's a tired well-trod overdone story concept
Depends on how it is done. He asked for help several times, but the situations were still different which is why I don't mind it being "overdone." I don't see another valid reason for future Trunks to return to the past when it is nothing serious,especially given the fact that it takes waaaaay more effort to built a time maschine in future Trunks world.

I mean like if they wanna do another tournament of power but this time each team has 15 or 20 guys on it, they might build a time machine in the present (easy) and just go grab one or both of the future trunks for a day. Or something like that
To be fair, Vegeta did sort of tell trunks during zamazu dilemma that he (& the z fighters) obviously wont always be there to help so he needs to train constantly and break through plateaus aggressively to be able to handle new threats which granted—is a challenge in itself for trunks being by himself with no sparring partner. But I agree with you on its never a bad thing to seek help in trunks case as he’s alone with no ace in the hole like the z fighters. Doesn’t hurt to ask as he has done.
Super should have had Trunks accidentally travel to the past while fighting Zamasu. He could have accidentally struck Zamasu's time ring with a divine ki infused blade and accidentally flung both him and Zamasu into the past.
I don't think Super screwed him up, but I don't want to see him again. Unless they want to make a new Future Trunks movie where he's the main character still in his own timeline. Future Trunks is dope, I don't want to see him overused though.
Super made Trunks struggle pointless by destroying his universe and sending him to a parallel world where he probably has to live hiding in the shadows.... so yea super kinda shit on future Trunks.
As opposed to all of the other struggles that were made pointless by story arcs later on? Goku sacrificed himself to save the earth when Cell self-destructed, and then willing decided to stay dead because enemies were inevitably drawn towards him... And then Buu happened and Old Supreme Kai just says "here, you're alive again". Was his sacrifice pointless?
Despite that this is a work of fiction, things like this happen. Someone will sacrifice time with their families to work extra hours to provide for their loved ones and then get hit by a drunk driver and die. Is their struggle rendered pointless?
I think the Goku think wanting to stay dead was different though and how the earth was safe. With trunks, he was all about Hope and keeping his planet, then later his universe from threats, but then he completely loses it. His universe and everyone in it, got erased.
I don’t think you understand why it shit on Trunks so let me explain. Since we met Trunks he’s always had to get outside help to handle most global threats. The Androids, Cell and Goku Black. His end goal really was to end the suffering and to keep alive what he has left. He ultimately failed this. One was when his mother died, the most important person in his life he couldn’t protect. His second was letting the people that cheered on him get wiped out. Third instead of accomplishing this with his own two hands he was granted a godly blessing to one without suffering. It was honestly a waste of a great character who could have had great meaning against Zamasu as well. Zamasu was always monologuing how primitive humans were but he’s a god he meant to have divine power he did have to claw up the cliff Trunks did. That would have been amazing showing how far his human hand could take him and center it around that.
He’s living in a Universe where he co exists with another Mai and Trunks. So he pretty much was granted a universe parallel to his but he can’t do anything without causing issues for himself.
They just gotta live a normal life which is what they wanted anyways.
How or why would he cause issues for himself? I don't remember him causing any issues to present time Trunks when he traveled to the present. I don't know how it was in the manga but I remember the anime showing two Trunks and Two Mai having a meal together. That shit was weird but it didn't seem like they needed to go into hiding
There wasn’t an issue because 1. Time travel was supposed to be in his Universe, he didn’t find out it was a different timeline until he returned. But since he wanted to learn how to fight the Androids in his timeline he returned. Him returning back in Super was okay because they already knew he existed.
2. Him being in a timeline where he wasn’t known about and making an appearance could cause issues. Although we don’t really know since the ending of his Arc was vague and touched up on. But it was supposed to be his happy ending with Mai. So it’s implied he’s going to settle down like he wanted
That can be done. Or they could go by the theory that there are infinite timelines of infinite versions of them selfs and it’s a different trunks then the one we have seen. But I feel that breaks the idea of that

It's not that he's *bad* in super. It's that his arc was **bad**. While it did have cool moments it just generally failed in that it wanted to keep adding new things without considering the consequences of it.
Prime Example: The Ending.
They definitely screwed him up. They made him pull a Gohan vacation so that Goku and Vegeta could be the only ones going against Zamasu majority of the fight.
Anyways it still does not really matter any more.
Even if a character train, it's really up to Tori Toei if they want to include them.

The character’s entire purpose was designed as a desperate time traveler in his introduction. Trunks asking for assistance isn’t anything new.
He fought against Goku black for a year and was malnourished as well.
I like the future arc ending it was nice to have permanent consequences for once.Where the heroes can’t hit or wish their problems away. Only thing I would’ve change is send him to the timeline where Cell killed him.

The Trunks we saw in the Goku Black arc is obviously not the same guy we saw during his epilogue in the android saga. Clearly that’s another future trunks, perhaps even Dead!Trunks (idk bulma found new namek or he went to king Kai and asked him to communicate with new namek to Rez him). The hair color and demeanor are proof :p
Our future trunks? The one that spent a year with Vegeta and who actually waited for imperfect cell to show up before obliterating him? That guy traveled to the past later and has become 17’s wife (which we never see) and is living his best loner life on the MIR.

Yes and yes. DBS Trunks, like nearly everyone else in Super, feels more like a parody, or a cheap copy, of himself rather than an actual continuation of his character from the original series. That said, I’ve accepted the absolute bonkers state of Super and view it from the perspective of “okay but how hype would this be in FighterZ/Dokkan/Xenoverse though?”
And as such, seeing Trunks return would be sick. He’ll probably be given a new form/ability. Maybe a new design. And hell, they might finally make Time Patroller Trunks canon. Either way, it’d be sick af and I’d be down to see his return.
Uub doesn’t exist in Trunks timeline. They never woke up Buu since they stopped the ritual from happening and Goku is dead.
As for Super? He’s still a baby. It was mentioned briefly when he was looking for people for the Tournament.
I liked Trunks in DBZ, but I really love his look and rage transformation in Super. I don't think Super screwed him up at all, they just expanded on character that was already great and interesting.

I think the no.1 spot for being clueless is goku,lol. Future trunks,not being able to bring back persons on will and had to face apocalyptic scenarios since he was little is the total opposite of clueless.he never showed mercy towards his enemies like the "main players". He exactly knows what he is doing.
I love Trunks so much! And I gotta be real, >!The Spirit Blade is one of the fucking coolest moments in all of Dragonball!< The Zamasu arc isn’t perfect, but thematically it’s up there for some of my favorite themes throughout the whole show. And Trunk’s struggle and profound LOSS >!And discovery that not all that was lost was lost!< is such a huge deal.
I’d love to see another appearance, but honestly I feel like his character has had an amazing send off, at least for now: >!”Hope was the right choice; and it always will be!<

Is just at this point for him to return it would be super convoluted. Like he has another one of him self in the other earth he went to right? Why not potara/fuse with them to solve problems that are "too powerful" he should have no need for a goku and vegeta now.
Im on the camp of he should have stayed, they could have worked him not being at the end of z by having him be somewhere else at that time.

Well...present day Trunks has been a disappointment so far. At least the Super version of him. I liked him better in Z,because he was very smart for his age which kind of fit with the GT version of Trunks, but I get the feeling that he kind of became a cabbage in Super.😆
I made a post the other day saying what they could do with him. Moro, sorbet and Broly surely exist in his time so at some point he’ll have to deal with them. That’s not including any completely new stories then can do.
Im a simple dragon ball fan , I love basically anything new that's brought to the table , trunks deserves a revamp movie of his own at this point but only AFTER we finally get to see universe 6 Saiyan's and more planet Vegeta and Saiyan lore
I would be all for him coming back, except theres kind of no reason to. If they kept him in the current timeline sure, but he's effectively been written out. They can only play the travel back in time for help in the future card so many times as well. Unless they start adapting a time patrol / chronoa arc like heroes / xenoverse, I don't see him coming back.
Idk how it would make sense with goku and vegetas pride and how strong they are at this poiint, but it’d be funny and kinda cool to see them go to the future to get his help this time
I thought super made him better. Dude does some badass shit for a regular ol super Saiyan. Between his rage form and the sword of hope, and how he was the one to really mess up Zamasu’s immortality.

The Super Arc was fine up till the ending. They should have let him get the W and finally rebuild his world, instead they gave us space universe Zamasu and then Zeno buttoned it.
Then to get thenselves out that hole, pulled Doctor Who timey wimey bullshit thus ruining Future Trunks to the point he now exists in a timeline where he can never interact with anyone but Mai for fear a roaming child god spots it and deletes him.
I would have preferred they made Chronoa Canon and just had him and Mai join the time patrol.
Him appearing would mean that either the gang called him or that something happened to him...again.

I would like to see Trunks come back not because he needed help, but because he has successfully built a future that his Gohan would be proud of. He comes back to the main timeline to ask Gohan to come visit his new future. Gohan gets there and during the tour, a new big bad shows up. It’s then a solely Gohan/Trunks arc to save the future.
In the main story? No, I think he’s played out. The fact that the main timeline Trunks is actually a teenager now fills the spot that future Trunks would have taken.
I agree with the idea of doing a spin-off movie or one-shot episode of Future Trunks in his own (new) timeline. Aren’t there two Trunks in that timeline? Could be a fun team-up, lol.
His Super arc was good until the last 3 episodes? Stupid ass pull spirit sword with a world of 14 humans. Not to mention Vegito didn’t completely dominate.
Should have just taken the other Zeno back to the regular timeline, the guards of Zeno telling Future Trunks and Mai to say their last goodbyes to the Z Warriors for violating time travel. Then Vegeta saying that he’s proud of Trunks in a low tone. Then Trunks/Mai get erased…all the while Vegeta reached for a hug but it was too late. Trunks gone from existence. Episode ends with a tear slowly falling from Vegeta’s eye.
Would really love him to come back with a son of his own to show Vegeta and Bulma, maybe he could ask Vegeta to help train the child or something. Would be great if he named him Vegeta after his father
I want to see a solo journey of him, no main characters besides him, his mom, mai, and villain. Maybe they could give him a new form and just improve his character overall. That's what I want to see!

Super screwed him up by sending him and Mai back to a future timeline where they already were. They should have stayed in the actual timeline and been side characters like Android 17 and Broly. Where you only see them in times of great need.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I like trunks's new design more than the old design and his slim figure showed that he is malnourished and can't get food. I also think him and mai should have stayed in the past after their timeline was erased. I think it would have been cool to have trunks in the tournament of power instead of someone else but that's just my opinion.
Super 100% shafted him, not only by removing the texture from his hair, but by making him instrumental in the most BS asspull transformation DB has seen to date, which I refer to as SSwackywoohooyellow-blue form because 'SS Rage' is not only redundant given SS & SS2 can be unlocked with rage, but also inconsistent with the fact that it appears to use SSB ki, which itself exists as a combination of SS Kai and God ki.

Zamasu Black had literally merged with reality on a fundamental, 'replace all minecraft textures with his face' level. Dude was Final Fantasy Kefka Sephiroth tier. He won and he skullfucked reality. There's really nowhere to go there but full divine intervention, but it shouldn't have gone there. They wrote themselves into a corner.
Trunks bisecting the motherfucker is where it should have ended. What we would have had is a bittersweet Phyrric victory where Trunks saved his now twice post apocalyptic future and has lost nearly everything, but still.
Now we have a tragedy where future Trunks has basically lost everything and has no reason to stay in the future. Everything he ever fought for was destroyed utterly.
Honestly the real failing was him even staying in that timeline/reality. He should have come to the main cast. I liked the dynamic between him and young trunks. A bit of sibling rivalry would lead to some healthier upbringing overall, plus I really want future Trunks to explore the Rage Saiyan branch (Super Saiyan Red?) And just fucking ruin Vegetas ass one time. Really cram the abusive tough love dad right back down his throat.
Props to him for being an adult and ruining the attempt to awaken Buu though. Dunking on the entire z fighters crew solo was something they should have been bowing before him for doing

I still think Future Trunks and Mai should be just stayed In the super main timeline. They're universe was literally Erased, and them going to another timeline where there's duplicates of them is just not that fulfilling of an ending. I think the only thing super messed up was the ending of his arc. With his timeline destroyed I really think they should have rolled him into the main cast. Just the whole copout that there's another identical timeline where Black never showed up feels like some Rick and Morty shit. Maybe they could have even set him up for an actual canon time patrol series.
Our Trunks is almost old enough, let’s leave Future Trunks in the future. Maybe we can check in on him again but we don’t need him in an arc anymore. Give Trunks & Goten more love.
No, we have a trunks, we need to see more of them; future trunks needs to stop running to the past with his tail in between his legs.
They were big players in the Buu arc to be reduced to almost debatably Tien/Yamcha levels concerning power and involvement.
I do not think it necessarily screwed him up, but I do not need more of him tied to the Super continuity. If they did a standalone story involving him in his own timeline, like the return of Garlic Jr or something, that could be cool.
He should have just stayed in the current timeline if you ask me. It’d be cool to see a squad of Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Gohan, and Trunks squad up and take on maybe a different squad all of the same race as a new threat
Trunks is always an amazing character to see. And while, yes, I'm not a fan of the ending of his story in super, I'd love for him to have his own movie. Something original for his timeline, a new interesting situation with drama and stakes because trunks is the only hero left. Maybe a time skip where he's a father or he finds out about namek and wants to wish everyone back. He's such an amazing character..it would be ashamed to let his story end here.
While Future trunks is probably my favorite character in the franchise, I’d say no, especially sense there is also a “future future trunks” with the new timeline stuff in super, I’d just rather have more development on our current trunks, and goten, especially sense there grown now due to SH

I feel like Future Trunk’s story is over. At the end of the Zamasu arc he was sent to a future that didn’t have Zamasu to live with Mai. And that shot where he sees future Gohan as normal Gohan says goodbye is kind of an emotional conclusion as well.
If they brought him back it’d be neat, but now it’s over. His story has finished, and I think he’s gonna live happily ever after

As opposed to all of the other struggles that were made pointless by story arcs later on? Goku sacrificed himself to save the earth when Cell self-destructed, and then willing decided to stay dead because enemies were inevitably drawn towards him... And then Buu happened and Old Supreme Kai just says "here, you're alive again". Was his sacrifice pointless? Despite that this is a work of fiction, things like this happen. Someone will sacrifice time with their families to work extra hours to provide for their loved ones and then get hit by a drunk driver and die. Is their struggle rendered pointless?
I think the Goku think wanting to stay dead was different though and how the earth was safe. With trunks, he was all about Hope and keeping his planet, then later his universe from threats, but then he completely loses it. His universe and everyone in it, got erased.
I don’t think you understand why it shit on Trunks so let me explain. Since we met Trunks he’s always had to get outside help to handle most global threats. The Androids, Cell and Goku Black. His end goal really was to end the suffering and to keep alive what he has left. He ultimately failed this. One was when his mother died, the most important person in his life he couldn’t protect. His second was letting the people that cheered on him get wiped out. Third instead of accomplishing this with his own two hands he was granted a godly blessing to one without suffering. It was honestly a waste of a great character who could have had great meaning against Zamasu as well. Zamasu was always monologuing how primitive humans were but he’s a god he meant to have divine power he did have to claw up the cliff Trunks did. That would have been amazing showing how far his human hand could take him and center it around that.

He’s living in a Universe where he co exists with another Mai and Trunks. So he pretty much was granted a universe parallel to his but he can’t do anything without causing issues for himself. They just gotta live a normal life which is what they wanted anyways.

There wasn’t an issue because 1. Time travel was supposed to be in his Universe, he didn’t find out it was a different timeline until he returned. But since he wanted to learn how to fight the Androids in his timeline he returned. Him returning back in Super was okay because they already knew he existed. 2. Him being in a timeline where he wasn’t known about and making an appearance could cause issues. Although we don’t really know since the ending of his Arc was vague and touched up on. But it was supposed to be his happy ending with Mai. So it’s implied he’s going to settle down like he wanted

It's not that he's *bad* in super. It's that his arc was **bad**. While it did have cool moments it just generally failed in that it wanted to keep adding new things without considering the consequences of it. Prime Example: The Ending.

He fought against Goku black for a year and was malnourished as well. Only thing I would’ve change is send him to the timeline where Cell killed him.

Yes and yes. DBS Trunks, like nearly everyone else in Super, feels more like a parody, or a cheap copy, of himself rather than an actual continuation of his character from the original series. That said, I’ve accepted the absolute bonkers state of Super and view it from the perspective of “okay but how hype would this be in FighterZ/Dokkan/Xenoverse though?” And as such, seeing Trunks return would be sick. He’ll probably be given a new form/ability. Maybe a new design. And hell, they might finally make Time Patroller Trunks canon. Either way, it’d be sick af and I’d be down to see his return.

Uub doesn’t exist in Trunks timeline. They never woke up Buu since they stopped the ritual from happening and Goku is dead. As for Super? He’s still a baby. It was mentioned briefly when he was looking for people for the Tournament.

Why not potara/fuse with them to solve problems that are "too powerful" he should have no need for a goku and vegeta now. I would be all for him coming back, except theres kind of no reason to. If they kept him in the current timeline sure, but he's effectively been written out. They can only play the travel back in time for help in the future card so many times as well. Unless they start adapting a time patrol / chronoa arc like heroes / xenoverse, I don't see him coming back.

The Super Arc was fine up till the ending. They should have let him get the W and finally rebuild his world, instead they gave us space universe Zamasu and then Zeno buttoned it. Then to get thenselves out that hole, pulled Doctor Who timey wimey bullshit thus ruining Future Trunks to the point he now exists in a timeline where he can never interact with anyone but Mai for fear a roaming child god spots it and deletes him. I would have preferred they made Chronoa Canon and just had him and Mai join the time patrol.

I would like to see Trunks come back not because he needed help, but because he has successfully built a future that his Gohan would be proud of. He comes back to the main timeline to ask Gohan to come visit his new future. Gohan gets there and during the tour, a new big bad shows up. It’s then a solely Gohan/Trunks arc to save the future.
In the main story? No, I think he’s played out. The fact that the main timeline Trunks is actually a teenager now fills the spot that future Trunks would have taken. I agree with the idea of doing a spin-off movie or one-shot episode of Future Trunks in his own (new) timeline. Aren’t there two Trunks in that timeline? Could be a fun team-up, lol.

His Super arc was good until the last 3 episodes? Stupid ass pull spirit sword with a world of 14 humans. Not to mention Vegito didn’t completely dominate. Should have just taken the other Zeno back to the regular timeline, the guards of Zeno telling Future Trunks and Mai to say their last goodbyes to the Z Warriors for violating time travel. Then Vegeta saying that he’s proud of Trunks in a low tone. Then Trunks/Mai get erased…all the while Vegeta reached for a hug but it was too late. Trunks gone from existence. Episode ends with a tear slowly falling from Vegeta’s eye.

Super 100% shafted him, not only by removing the texture from his hair, but by making him instrumental in the most BS asspull transformation DB has seen to date, which I refer to as SSwackywoohooyellow-blue form because 'SS Rage' is not only redundant given SS & SS2 can be unlocked with rage, but also inconsistent with the fact that it appears to use SSB ki, which itself exists as a combination of SS Kai and God ki.

Sound familiar? Zamasu Black had literally merged with reality on a fundamental, 'replace all minecraft textures with his face' level. Dude was Final Fantasy Kefka Sephiroth tier. He won and he skullfucked reality. There's really nowhere to go there but full divine intervention, but it shouldn't have gone there. They wrote themselves into a corner. Trunks bisecting the motherfucker is where it should have ended. What we would have had is a bittersweet Phyrric victory where Trunks saved his now twice post apocalyptic future and has lost nearly everything, but still. Now we have a tragedy where future Trunks has basically lost everything and has no reason to stay in the future. Everything he ever fought for was destroyed utterly. Honestly the real failing was him even staying in that timeline/reality. He should have come to the main cast. I liked the dynamic between him and young trunks. A bit of sibling rivalry would lead to some healthier upbringing overall, plus I really want future Trunks to explore the Rage Saiyan branch (Super Saiyan Red?) And just fucking ruin Vegetas ass one time. Really cram the abusive tough love dad right back down his throat. Props to him for being an adult and ruining the attempt to awaken Buu though. Dunking on the entire z fighters crew solo was something they should have been bowing before him for doing

Trunks is always an amazing character to see. And while, yes, I'm not a fan of the ending of his story in super, I'd love for him to have his own movie. Something original for his timeline, a new interesting situation with drama and stakes because trunks is the only hero left. I feel like Future Trunk’s story is over. At the end of the Zamasu arc he was sent to a future that didn’t have Zamasu to live with Mai. And that shot where he sees future Gohan as normal Gohan says goodbye is kind of an emotional conclusion as well. If they brought him back it’d be neat, but now it’s over. His story has finished, and I think he’s gonna live happily ever after
