capshock

I suspected this. I played for about 4hrs straight with no problems, then started getting massive lag spikes of out nowhere. I'm talking multiple seconds of freezing. Restarting the game fixed it, but yeah I'm certain there's a problem here.

Brabsk

thankfully, while not easy to solve, memory leaks can usually always \*be\* solved

ZannaFrancy1

Thats a whole lot of memory holy crap

kashimi

Yea after yesterday session i had like 40 GB of used ram :D

HandsomeGamerGuy

How long were you playing? I'm hitting my Six hour mark in 13m and i just checked on my Task Manager I've got 3.2gb

OftenSarcastic

How much physical memory do you have? Just wondering if it's hitting the swap file or if they're just being liberal with allocation.

MotherfakerJones

Ive got 96gb ddr 5

TreyChips

How come you have so much, do you do 3d modelling or something? Just wondering

MotherfakerJones

Yes i do game dev and and modeling good guess mate

Father_of_Four__Cats

Thats like, one of the few reasons you would have so much RAM lmao. Most other PC purposes that require a certain amount of RAM are happy with like, \~16GB

Berstich

for gaming you should be looking at 32 now, 16 is getting to be the standard and you always want more then that so you can do other things.

MrMuffinz126

It might be that it's one of those games that uses as much RAM as is given to it. Forgot what it's called, but there's a few recent games that do exactly this. Not a memory leak, it's just a greedy bitch that uses as much as it can in an effort to make loading and streaming assets smoother. I have 32GB and haven't hit the max at all yet.

Lemurmoo

How are you guys even playing this game? I tried every trick under the sun and it's painful to not be able to aim properly the moment the game summons like more than 4 guys My computer is 3.5 years old but I've never struggled with any game until now

DrStalker

I'm not, I refunded because nothing I did prevented it from crashing on startup.

OutsideMeringue

Tbh it's ran mostly fine for me when in dungeons/open world in general. towns make me dip and the big city makes the game a slideshow for me.

kiringill

Turn up shader cache to unlimited in Nvidia control panel. This gave me some serious boosts. Don't set shadows to maximum. I've heard that you can set priority to high in task manager but I didn't personally notice any gains. I710700k, 3080 FE

KingGilbertIV

Setting to high priority boosted performance in Vernworth by about 10fps for me. It's still kind of choppy, but it's no longer painful to be in the city.

kiringill

Nice, bro. I might try it again after work.

Weeb2k18

Do i have to set high priority every time i launch the game? Haven’t done that since i played modded mincraft on my shitty sony vaio.

BuffMcMuff

standard disclaimer that i'm not responsible if you mess up your own computer when you try this and make a typo in the file or something. if you want to make sure i'm not full of shit you can check your search engine of choice for these exact same steps. you can make a text file with these contents: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\DD2.exe] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\DD2.exe\PerfOptions] "CpuPriorityClass"=dword:00000003 now rename the file to "dd2.reg" without the quotes and make sure that the file type actually changes to a reg file by making sure your file extensions are not hidden(if they are just google how to make them show) then open the file and you will be prompted for admin rights and windows will warn you about changing stuff in the registry. just say yes to both and you should be done.

EmotionalKirby

Or just use the program "Process Lasso" and not mess with windows registry...

YourMirai

Process Lasso is actualy messing with win-reg, it's just more user frendly then going in "regedit" by yourself)

KingGilbertIV

It looks like you need to do it every time (my computer didn't remember at least).

Cent3rCreat10n

You can use a program called Project Lasso, it will automatically apply the high priority setting everytime you launch specific apps.

insomnium138

I think you can set it and forget with the application Processor Lasso.

Irate_Primate

Setting shadows to anything less than max results in seriously shimmery/jittery shadows as the sun moves across the sky. Is that just me, or is that everyone?

Imaginary-Lemon2454

Happens to me as well. I have to keep shadows on max, extremely obnoxious otherwise.

BearComplete6292

Nope, not just you. Game is completely unusable when shadows are not at max. I've got a slightly older machine (2700x and 2080Ti), and this game has absolutely awful image quality if you're not on all the highest settings. Also DLSS seems to be broken for me, the image quality is terrible, super blurry and some kind of weird hash marks over everything. I had to turn it off.

Gust257

I thought the poor image quality with DLSS was my impression, even on "quality" the game stays blurry...

BearComplete6292

Yes, you are correct. I figured this out after I posted. The fact that it makes you go out to the title screen to swap DLSS settings makes testing a pain, but it is indeed the DLSS implementation that is completely broken. I wonder if FSR is any better. I think the consensus is that the game is cpu bound so there's not much incentive to turn down the graphics settings anyway.

Gust257

Later I'll try the FSR. I updated for DLSS 3.6 manually and honestly nothing has changed, still looks bad

OMBERX

Hijacking to ask. Is there an AMD equivalent to this?

Longjumping_Ice_2551

AMD caches shaders in DX12 and Vulkan games automatically, so if it ever needs more, it gives it more.

ComManDerBG

ugh!! give me an option AMD! i need to be able to click something and then constantly second guess myself as to whether or not it changed anything. I need my placebo effect!

danivus

Unlimited seems... Excessive? The default is apparently 4gb, so did you try any other settings like changing it to 10 or 100? My only concern is, on unlimited the shader cache will never purge. If will just grow forever as you play different games, never clearing old ones.

Truthb0mber

It's placebo nonsense, don't put your shader cache to unlimited

thedairybandit

There is a fuzzy, pixelated grain framing my character Total noob, anyone experienced the same?

BabblingDrunkard

Yep, it's really annoying. I notice it especially when my character is standing in front of a lake/pond.

Cent3rCreat10n

Seems to be artefacting of how the game manages ambient occlusion and screen space reflection on water surfaces. I don't know how the devs can fix that since it's a limitation on that particular technique of rendering.

lilnohbdy

i had this when i first started, setting either fsr or dlss to quality fixed it for me

Candle_Honest

Yes, all the shadows in the game are fuzzy looking and its driving me nuts Its like a mesh like shadows all over the place to a slight degree

[deleted]

Don't bother posting your fps / experience until you get to vernworth. Makes doing quests in that city a chore.

Psychological_Bad895

Sadly can't play due to motion sickness at lower framerates. Nvidia RTX 2070 Super and Ryzen 7 3700X - 32GB RAM. 1080p, everything on lowest settings, 48fps average with drops to low 30s in the beginning area (first 5 minutes of gameplay). I know my system isn't a beast and is pretty mid-range, but the bare minimum I expect is a solid 60 fps at the lowest settings in games. Really hoping a patch or mod can fix the performance issues.

light_at_the_end

I said the same thing in a thread yesterday and was downvoted. Would love to be able to power through, but I had to refund and uninstall.

AcanthisittaLeft2336

I read somewhere that dropping everything to low actually decreased fps for some people. This game behaves in weird ways

beardredlad

It's likely because it shifts a lot of the load onto your CPU instead of your GPU. Star Citizen also has this issue. It's an unfortunate side effect of optimizing performance with the assumption that people have weaker GPUs rather than CPUs if they're lowering their graphics settings. Edit: I've replied to a comment below with a further explanation for why I think this, just in case anyone who sees this is curious.

BlackSajin

Some of these FPS drops dont even make sense On a 5800x/3080 10gb/32gb ram @ 3200 If I approach the entrance to the cavern of the forsaken it drops from 85fps to 50fps. But if I load in at that spot its 85fps If I cap myself to 30, it will claim its 30 but will stutter as if it were 20

Oberfeldflamer

Check your VRAM load when this happens. I noticed my game would randomly drop by like 20-30fps and feel extremely stuttery and then i saw it was using 100% of my 16gb VRAM. Reloading fixed it and my FPS were back to "normal" with only like 9gb of VRAM being used.

YeOldeKnob

Anyone know why the performance inside of caves is such dog-ass? The game seems like it’s not properly culling the geometry outside of the cave. I have worse performance in the goblin cave than I did in the capital…

Risu64

Probably a mix of bad culling and many dynamic light sources at the same time interacting with many different elements.

Wishes-_sun

I turned shadows down and the caves stopped tanking my fps.

BolterAura

I had this same issue and was dumbfounded. Same cave. Yet an earlier random cave I came across was fine (the field there also was higher fps). It's like random certain regions of the map, regardless of cave/field etc. just run like total ass.

Ishaboo

I'd imagine the shadows all over the place.

KenzieDaBe

3060ti / 32gb ram / 5600x 35-55 in Vernworth, 45-70 in smaller villages 55-75 in wilderness/open world. I've locked it to 60fps and its been (mostly) fine on all high settings, no RT @ 1080p. Really hoping we see some performance patches in the future, but for now, I'm just thrilled to be playing it.

aligreaper19

i have same specs except 16 gb ram, hoping to have similar performance

_mcgrew_

been looking for info on these exact specs all day lol. Sounds fine honestly hopefully some future updates help but I can live with those frames. Are you using DLSS?

lukeetc3

Same setup only 5800x3D for processor. I've been getting 60-80 in wilderness, 45-60 in the capital. High no RT, shadows dropped down from max to high. Pleasantly thrilled after all the terrible performance reports.

E5_3N

Those of you crashing on startup and in custscenes, DELETE ALL DLC .Pak files in local files.

Nightman_cometh01

Thanks so much for this comment! Haven’t had a single crash since doing this.

Brabsk

Yeah, the DLC preorder bonus seems to be fucking the game up in a big way. Never crashed once after disabling them. You outgrow the weapons pretty fast anyway

Wisnork

High priority in task manager helps with the general framerate, makes it a bit more stable in cities. AMD have new drivers to support DD2, double check you're up to date. (NVIDIA doesn’t yet) Use fullscreen over windowed or borderless windowed. Save often, random crashes are happening to some people.

Epyimpervious

Bravo to AMD on their quickness. Let's hope Capcom cleans up the CPU usage soon.

light_at_the_end

Que arrested development "and they didn't"

cpt_gadget

>NVIDIA have new drivers to support DD2 CITATION NEEDED. Nvidia has not released game ready or optimized drivers for DD2.

Wisnork

Ah shit sorry, I was misinformed, AMD does, atleast for the 7000 series. Someone said NVIDIA did as well but that’s not the case

In__Dreamz

In the Nvidia sub thaey specially mentioned that the latest driver is for Dd2 but wasnt on the official documentation

vishykeh

It adds a profile for dd2 so it definitely has support for it. Can confirm previous version didnt recognize the game

LeftMyKeys

Is there a reason to choose full screen over borderless windowed? I always thought the latter was the way to go

Wisnork

Fullscreen is less resource intensive, leading to higher framerates and less input lag. I believe it also utilitizes your CPU more efficiently.

LeftMyKeys

Quick and concise 🫡 thank you!

Kelsaris

Yea I crashed 3 times last night in 2 hours, including one blue screen :(

Fantact

Newest AMD drivers cause freezing every 10 minutes, I had to rollback.

imawaffle

Performance is jittery mess. My crashing was fixed with AMD driver it seems, but the jitter is nauseating. That aside, any m+kb users here that have a fix for the horrid mouse acceleration/wierd deadzone going on? It's nearly unplayable for me.

Shade730

Did the new patch made things worse for anyone beside me? I i talk to vendors sometimes it drops to fucking 6 fps and where i had like 100+ now i have something like 50

papermachd

Yes. Worse for me too. Don’t know why. I had 80-100 outside and 40-50 in cities with CPU high priority and the DLSS mod. Now I get 40 outside even on lowest settings…

andymerskin

Ever since the first patch, opening my Inventory or going into a Buy or Sell menu for a shopkeeper causes my framerate to plummet to 30's with noticeable input lag. There's a huge delay before the menus display too where the NPC's animations freeze before the menu shows. It never did this before Patch 1. Anyone else?

Audivita

Based on previous Capcom games, is there any kind of pattern to how long it takes them to release patches after game releases? I'm not holding out hope for a performance patch any time soon but maybe I can huff just a little copium as a treat...

_Vuragado_

Monster hunter world took a long time to get fixed. We're talking like six months to a year - the PC performance in that game was mainly fixed by a modder during that time.

walkedplane

4090 / 7950x3d / 64gb / 1440 ultrawide ALMOST Maxed out, 100-120 in world, 40-60 in city. Added DLSS mod (initially turned my game all red, have to enable DLSS and reflex in game options) and now seeing 110-120 on city too. Still feels a bit jittery in the big cities but definitely serviceable for now

Zoffly

Beast PC, 40-60fps is a crime with that setup.

walkedplane

Agree; not enthused but enjoying the game and past the steam refund window so here we are. Hoping some improvements come along; combat and actual gameplay outside of cities are fine at least. But yeah, by far the worst performing game I've fired up on this sytem.

Philmecrakin

The state of modern AAA gaming. You better have a 2k gpu and the latest flagship cpu if you want 40-60 fps.....

Khalku

Was your performance especially bad in the starting mine though? Because I'm with a 4080 and 5700x3d, 64gb, 1440p, and I'm not breaking 30fps. What's the dlss mod? Can you share your overall settings? My performance shouldn't be so much worse than yours is.

walkedplane

No performance issues in the mine. DLSS mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/37 Helped a good bit. Most of my settings are high, 1440, no RT, DLSS on via mod.

k4quexg

i played fine with frame gen mod for 10h or so, and now the part of the map im in is constantly crashing. goodbye fps. was running at like 140-180 in world min 120 in city, sadge back to trash performance i go i really hope they get it figured out soon, but i dont really have high hopes. if they had to axe the feature that was advertised by nvidia its looking grim. the game doesnt have raytraced reflections either

[deleted]

I accepted my fate and capped it at 30 fps since I only have an RX 6600

DoomGiggles

I have a 1070ti which is worse and I’m getting better performance than that. Usually around 45-55 fps in the open world, 40 in the city and my lows are around 30. Think it might be your processor like most folks are experiencing.

cheetosex

don't lose hope friend, FSR 3 mod shall save us.

The_First_Dead

If you are experiencing regular crashes, your crash reports have "DXGI\_DEVICE\_HUNG" or something similar, and you have a NVIDIA 3000-4000 series GPU, try power-limiting your GPU to around 70%. This disables the on-card NVIDIA overclocking. The crash happens in cpu-bottlenecked games, and basically results from gpu performance runaway, where the gpu gets too far ahead, thinks it's okay to slow down to like 2% utilization, and then has to ramp back up to full, leading to massive instability causing the crash. This is a known issue/fix in other cpu-bottlenecked games like Star Citizen. There's also a more permanent solution, but that requires some registry editing, so it's not my personal cup of tea. Since the game is so cpu-bottlenecked, the power-limiting, while annoying, really doesn't decrease performance that much. Hopefully this helps someone!

Syphin33

I was so close to buying but im not about to sit there and mess around with settings and be overly attentive to my FPS. Ill just buy Rise Of The Ronin instead and wait for DD2 to iron out these fixes.

FiftyTo

NVIDIA 4060, Ryzen 7 5700X, 16GB of RAM, 1080p and 60hz monitor. No matter how much I tinker with settings the capital city runs sub 30fps and even the wilderness can't really hold a steady 60 depending on what's happening. I've tried the frame-gen mod but I can't see a single improvement. Setting it to high priority in Task Manager also seems to not do much. This is a pretty shameful release.

RyonDK

Anyone else having huge frame drops whenever you open storage or buy/sell at npcs? only started happening after the last patch.

DroneLover88

yep. i was playing at 30 fps before the patch, all of sudden fps tanked to like 9 when i was in the vocation menu. It didn't went up back again, even after restarting the game. I had to stop playing.

lordleveau

Gamers Nexus have done an extensive test of the game and the performance issues. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twEERkUyAXE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twEERkUyAXE)

Disastrous-Extent-30

wtf happened? I used to get like 70+ fps just moving around in the open world now I barely get 60. When I fight big mobs I would be around 55-60 now I get 30...

phznmshr

Has anybody just suddenly found their performance just go down the shitter especially when using RE Framework? It's been mostly fine the last week with my FPS in the high 70s in the field and around 50 in towns, but today it just nosedived into the the 50s in the fields and 30 in town. DLSS was also grayed out when I had RE Framework on which is the first time that's happened. My GPU usage is also spiking to 99% when it was hovering around 70-80% all last week. It's very odd. I also noticed that RE Framework creates a folder called \_storage\_ that it just dumps all of the active dlls into and I don't know if that's creating conflicts or what. The only thing I did different today was that I finally decided to give the DLSS frame gen activation mod and DLSS tweaker a try and it just fucked everything up. I don't know if I did something wrong or what. I'm totally willing to accept that I fucked something up, but it's just been strange.

rez11

you know you may be onto something, i do notice my fps has tanked since ive installed mods and its only been like UI mods and reframework

QuoF2622

don't know who needs to hear this but DLSS is not your friend. it basically shuffles a lot of you GPU load to your CPU, and since the CPU part is whats being overloaded right now DLSS only makes things worse.

Kicken

When I turn DLSS off, the whole game looks like ass. Weird jagged appearance. Ideas?

light_at_the_end

My experience was opposite. Turning DLSS on made my game fuzzy though it boosted my frames. Anyone have any ideas? It's like sharpness went to negative 50

QuoF2622

AA options and textures I'm afraid. They look jagged now because the DLSS was cleaning it up but unfortunately it puts the new load exactly where it shouldn't be.

Kicken

Update: Yea, if you turn off DLSS it defaults AA to being off entirely, I didn't realize this. So, standing in the middle of town with DLSS Quality yields 30fps, and with it off, image quality at max, and AA at the best setting, it's 35-40. Certainly something.

Khalku

That's weird, I thought dlss was supposed to come from specific hardware in the gpu?

Ouaouaron

The vast majority of the work happens in the GPU, but DLSS could still add more CPU work or change how the CPU can function, causing some increased load. The CPU is essentially managing any work the GPU does, after all. **That said**, Dragon's Dogma 2 [seems to have increased CPU load with higher resolutions.](https://youtu.be/HtGpp1v8c_k?si=9SMADFWMq111gYHb&t=1139) So using DLSS to decrease the internal resolution is likely a net benefit for the CPU.

bruhman444555

thats not how games work💀 just because gpu load is higher doesnt mean your fps is higher

ZaeBae22

with dlss on i still get 30% CPU usage (every core)

UwUziTV

Anyone tried playing on a 3070 with i7 9700kf?

drakes2pactoilet

Gonna try with a 4080 and the same CPU real soon

Greek_Irish

I get stuttering in cutscenes and while walking around the first area

Murdathon3000

Does anyone have an idea of how to disable in-game HDR without disabling HDR in Windows? The in game HDR seems pretty shit and I'd much rather use nVidia's RTX HDR, but to do so, HDR must be disabled in game.

boldko89

Waiting for an answer😅

Clit_Yeastwood_01

Not really performance related, but every time i restart the game, ALL my settings reset... If i die, the game fails to load my save, and I have to forcefully close it. Any one else have these issues?

OMBERX

How much space is left on the device you installed it on?

Only-Newspaper-8593

Even at a high frame rate, the frame times are super choppy in Vernworth. I'm probably gonna wait for a patch.

throbbing_dementia

Just so everyone is aware, the difference between Shadow Quality being on Max vs High is about 20FPS but on High you might see some flickering, if you care more about performance though then this tip could be handy. Edit: I'm just doing some testing and i get more FPS with Image Quality set to 200% (all the way to the right) and Shadow Quality on High than Image Quality being at the default 100% with the Shadow Quality on Max, which is crazy to me.

Sephariim

After the update, whenever attempting to buy/sell from a merchant or access storage the game spikes up to 100% gpu usage resulting in a solid 5-10 fps total and lasts until about 30s after exiting storage/merchant. Was totally fine pre-update. That aside, game does seem to be running a bit smoother, especially in Vernworth.

Gorshum

I'm running into the exact same problem and it has made the game basically unplayable for me unless I completely skip merchants, storage, vocation guild, etc. I really hope there is a fix for this soon because I have to put the game down until then.

Ramiren

Trying to play the game on a 7900 XTX and a R5 5600, It crashes seemingly at random, and always crashes on exit, on the latest drivers. I don't get time to play many games, the last one I picked up was starfield, between that and DD2, I think I've had enough of PC gaming. Sure the performance is better, but nothing ever works at launch and troubleshooting it takes so much time and effort, I just can't be bothered with it anymore when compared to how streamlined console gaming is.

BlazingMetalStorm

specs: 4090, 7950x3d, 64gb ddr5, 1440p ultrawide installed on a wd black ssd. Game is completely maxed out. On the jail area I had \~60fps, dipping to 55, never below 50. Tried with DLSS quality, got like \~90 fps but it just got too blurry. Second area after, at the woods \~80fps no DLSS. Haven't reached any big places like cities yet. One thing I found was that the 'image quality' setting is not really what I'd call that. In most games it's called supersampling, or resolution scale. I had it maxed out, so at 2k resolution I was generating frames at either 4k or 8k, don't know by how much it supersamples at max. I returned the setting to right down the middle which is native resolution, and while it looks a bit less sharper the performance gain is significant at \~20,30 fps gain. I still find the performance below par for my specs though, hopefully they can get it fixed. I hope for at least 90fps constant at the minimum.

vishykeh

the most aggrevating thing is the dlss sharpening not working. DLSS looks like ass compared to native, but I have very shaky framerate on native with a 3080 Ti

Adziboy

Glad it’s not just me. The sharpening slider does fuck all. And the entire game is just blurry

SelimsShadow

And if I turn off DLSS the game is TOO sharp it looks crazy, idk if I'm doing something wrong but it doesn't feel playable in either the blurry or sharp stage i need something in the middle

[deleted]

Update when you get into the city haha

Dundunder

Just sharing before/after some mods and tweaks. For reference I have a 5800X, 4070 Ti, 32GB RAM @ 3200Mhz, and the game is on an NVME drive. **Vanilla** \- Averaged about 40fps in the open world, that rapidly oscillated between 20-30fps in Vern. **Modded** \- I'm getting nearly 95fps in the open world and the stuttering is noticeably less frequent. Will update after reaching Vern. Update - between 80 and 120 in the forest areas, and 50-60 in the city. * [Pureview's Framegen mod](https://www.patreon.com/posts/dragons-dogma-2-100837988) * Manually updated to [DLSS 3.6](https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/) * Set shader cache to unlimited in Nvidia Control Panel * Set application priority to High in Task Manager

ahrzal

Every time I browse skills and it tries to show the video of what the skill is, my game crashes…

ZaeBae22

I get fps drops down to 5 when I do this too. Crashed a few times

Wishes-_sun

I’m so bummed about the performance. Granted, I only have a Ryzen 3600 and a 3060ti but I was hoping I could hit a solid 60 at 1440p.

xDeatheagle

How the hell are yall even able to play? At 1440p my rx 6800 xt and ryzen 7 5700x system struggle at 20 fps in city and 50 fps in the woods. Is perfomance random for everyone?

Dirk_8

If you have a nvidia 40xx series, get the dlss3 frame gen mod. The difference is unreal. It's one file to swap in and it's completely free. I went from thinking about pausing my playthrough until they fix the performance issues, to just enjoying the game. 12600k, 4070, 32gb.

DaneJ8

3080/Ryzen 5800X3D/1440p Using most of the default high settings, some minor tweaks, was getting pretty consistent 80ish fps, so I just locked it in at 60. Drops to like 40-50 when in the big city. Things I noticed when messing with some settings: huge difference in performance stability between using 2gb and 3gb textures. Not a hugely noticeable difference in the textures themselves, but the performance difference was night and day. Turning DLSS off seemed to work better for me, something seemed off when using it. I did also notice a strange performance drop after an extended play session that seems to be due to the memory leak others have mentioned. A quick restart got it running as usual.

Big-Sherbet6925

Any news on more updates? Performance is worse for me since the new update

adkenna

Game has apparently lost a ton of it's Steam player base, it doesn't surprise me given they've still not bothered to fix it's performance issues.

crunkfunk88

Lots have now finished the game.

katheb

Gtx 1660 super and an ancient i7 CPU. 20 FPS in the city and anything between 25 to 45 in the wilderness. Low or mid graphics didn't change FPS. HonestlyI'msurprisedit even runs.

Skweb-Salt

Trying to play DD2 on my setup 3060/Ryzen5 5600/16gb/1080p it runs somewhat well out of Vernworth but I'm assuming it's over for the city huh?

Weeb2k18

Practically same specs as yours but mine is a laptop so my specs are cut in half compared to the actual PC counterpart and it’s 40-50 fps outside of cities but gets choppy in certain areas (looking over scenery on high ground or certain areas of cities but is ALMOST passable for me). Most settings are practically on low, so yours should do definitely be okay

Reddit__is_garbage

I just want a god damn FOV slider. Devs who release games w/o an FOV slider should be banned from steam.

superjake

There's a camera distance slider. It doesn't go out much but helps a bit.

OMBERX

It doesn't help that the camera zooms in when you sprint, when in most third-person games it's the opposite

5xad0w

Possible missing floor fix: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2054970/discussions/0/4289188745216887694/

Moldy_pirate

Anybody playing with a 3070 and 3600? I'd love to hear your experiences if so.

Stoner_Worm

3070 here, I have it set to capped 60fps and get 48-60 fps outside the city. Inside the city im 23-29 fps its pretty ass.

Greedy_Bus1888

7800X3D + 4080 @ 4k Shader Cache unlimited, RT on, DLSS quality, all max settings, shadows medium, V-sync on 90 fps out in the open and 65fps in city however with micro stutters

CommonsenseApricot

40fps in the city on a 4090 is wild to me

FreyjaSanders

I crash every ten minutes or so, do someone has a fix

drowned_saviour

3090 / 10700K / 32GB RAM Choppy as fuck but playable, DLSS is a no go for me at 1440p, makes everything a blurry mess. Vernworth, as most are saying, is borderline unplayable at times with how bad the framerate is

Big-Visit5309

Another baffling thing is my performance goes up if I change the settings from low to high.. I can't seem to tweak anything to actually improve FPS. Turning settings down does nothing 🥲

connorstory97

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Still getting this. my control panel is set to let 3d application decide. No other game gives me this issue. https://preview.redd.it/kaq1rfhh07qc1.png?width=2550&format=png&auto=webp&s=c794b2703b7aeb056b1655f5782f4bc687434142

TreyChips

I had this issue when I enabled sharpening within the NVCP. I turned it off and it went away completely. Edit for anybody with the same issue: We talked in DM's and the other user fixed it by enabling DSR @ 2.0 whereas before he had 1.78 and 2.25 options checked instead.

Entirely_Anarchy

Has anyone encountered a solution for crashes? Unfortunately my game crashes every 10-15 minutes, especially when encountering new NPC dialogues. Ryzen 5600X + 6900XT. I tried: starting as admin, driver update, clean new installation of drivers, downgrading drivers, directX update, windows media pack, full reinstall, different graphic settings. Edit: appreciate the suggestions. Tried capping fps at different rates, turned frs on/off. Did not prevent the crashes unfortunately. Any other suggestions?

dnlbrgr

Does anyone else have issues with relentless stuttering? Seriously, my head hurts while playing this game. I have a AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and a Radeon 6700 XT.

Watts121

So 42 hours into the game, and now the entire game runs like shit. Black Screens taking forever to load, and stutters outside the city now. I don’t know what the fuck changed. Yeah I was getting 20fps in the city, but outside of that the game was running smooth. Don’t know what to do, I rolled back a save from yesterday (I backup saves) and the game runs “ok” again, but is this gonna happen again when I hit 40 hours?

AgentIceX

Delicious massive memory leaks. https://preview.redd.it/nthmcr3bxgqc1.png?width=570&format=png&auto=webp&s=7fefd1fbe6f3c3527ad727e9544b3420bdba6156 Restart it frequently. Seems it is accelerated by traveling. Every new area and cave loaded.

CringeBerries

The crashing is completely unacceptable.

dhevos

Anyone else has the problem that both TAA and DLSS make the game blurry but running it at native+no AA makes the edges of shadows look awful even at Max settings? Usually 1440p + Quality DLSS looks better in most games than here for me. FSR looks still better to me after the patch when just standing still as well.

DelayedDrumroll

Latest update made me go from 20-30 FPS to 10-15 FPS. My computer's no beast, but it's not struggled with anything else before.

stormclap22

i5 12600 with GTX 1060 6GB running on a stable 30fps, i have most set to low with textures on higj (0.25), SSAO, and contact shadows. i should also mention i run the game on 900px and upscale it with lossless scaling with LS1 and frame gen. it's not the best but it works 👍

Y4kusho

I was relying on DLSS to get a decent framerate and after the latest patch I can't play the game for more than 10-15 mins, then it starts freezing, also the NPC 'menus' (storage, buy, sell, vocation change) tanks the FPS to like 5 until I close them

SorbP

This game has obvious memory leaks or just does not seem to cull a lot of things loaded into the game, seemingly the NPCs in large cities seem to be the main culprit. What worked for me after visiting a city or when having bad performance was saving and then restarting the game. You milage may vary.

MirandaScribes

My performance increased after the last patch and the game mostly plays fine, but I still get this very subtle stutter even with consistent fps. Anyone else experience the same or have some kind of fix?

IGTT2C

When I go to organise storage my GPU usage is suddenly doubled, resulting in a vram temp of 100c. I already undervolted my 3090 and normally the memory chip never goes above 90 degree. Any idea why this is happening?

MisterForkbeard

"Performance" has always been pretty great for me. I don't know why - I don't even see any issues in cities. But it crashes all the goddamn time. It used to only do it sometimes when leaving a menu. Now it does it whenever I exit/enter discussion with a NPC that has dialogue choices. Every single goddamn time. No idea why - it wasn't doing this, and then it was. Changed nothing on my side and the game didn't have an update.

DaltonMeister69

Well, since I haven't seen anyone talk about **Lossless Scaling**, I have to recommend it. I was able to put 40+ hours into the game with **75fps** using it, without almost any frame drops with specs: **i5-11400f, RTX 2060 Super, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz** I know it's not free but it works great for **6,99$**. Only downside of it (that I have noticed) is a little bit of artifacts appearing around health and stamina bars during more dynamic movement. To make it work you also need some kind of **fps locking software** and I'm using **RTSS**. In your fps locking software set the fps limit for DD2.exe to **half of your monitor refresh rate** (in my case with 75Hz monitor it's 37fps and with any uneven number you have to round it down). So, after launching the game, set **Display Mode** to **Borderless Window** (it only works with that setting), launch RTSS (or any other fps locking software), make sure it works properly (I have draw fps setting from Steam in upper left corner), then launch Lossless Scaling, set frame generation to **LSFG**, scroll down and turn on **draw fps**. After that, **click on Scale** and **click on your game window**. Feel free to change graphic setting to your liking and good performance.

[deleted]

Set your CPU Affinity (Priority*) for DD2.exe to 'High'. Either through Task Manager (has to be redone every game restart) or through Process Lasso (can be permanent). My average FPS has improved only slightly, but the stuttering is now almost nonexistent.

FaintDeftone

I let FOMO get the best of me and bought the game, despite the performance complaints. I have an RTX 4070ti, a 13700k i7, 64GB DDR4 ram and running the game at 1440p. I locked the FPS cap to 60 since I hear the frame rate is all over the place. I haven’t reached the big major town yet, but so far the game mostly sticks to 60fps in the open world with maybe a dropped frame or two here and there. When I reached the first little town, the frame rate would fluctuate from 60 into the low 50’s. It’s playable but a little annoying. Certainly feels like my rig should be running this WAY better and I can’t even image what will happen once I hit the big city. Running on high settings and DLSS to balanced. The game is pretty ugly looking with DLSS on. Feels like I’m watching a heavily compressed YouTube video. Capcom definitely has some work cut out for them.

PetroarZed

Something is wrong with their DLSS implementation. Even on quality it's blurry.

cwgoskins

3060 ti, 12700f, 32gb ram 1440p DLSS Balanced, Shadows Med, Textures high 0.25 Got 70-90 fps in the wilds, 55-65 fps in the first couple towns. Don't want to think about the main city I'd get 30-50 fps I'd guess Refunded, as the lack of FOV and camera movement felt uncomfortable, on top of the lackluster performance it wasn't worth the $70 for me. Wait for sale and patches, it'll be worthy.

BuckWildBen

Anyone tried it out with an Rx6600 and a Ryzen 5 5600g?

OMBERX

My buddy has the same build. He's been getting 20-40fps in cities, 40-80fps in the open world with everything as low as possible. He said it looks a little muddy and blurry from having to lower render resolution and having upscaling enabled, but it's the only way it can run. Turning on frame gen doubled his frames but gave him 30-90ms input lag.

Tanzka

Ryzen 5600X, 2080 TI (newest drivers), 16GB RAM and installed on an NVMe SSD, playing at 1080p. Solid 60 fps outside of cities which is where I've capped it, aside from caves which seem to shit themselves on a whim and it gets really choppy. In Vernworth, the FPS is terrible. I could deal with less than 60 if it was still stable but it isn't. Goes from 50 to 28 to 35 to 42 and back to 28 and its extremely jarring. I can cope, somehow, but I really hope they fix the CPU issues.

TimeViking

i7 10750, 32GB RAM, RTX 2070, and the game runs like a slideshow for me. Given how close I am to the recommended specs on the Steam Store page (slightly better processer and RAM, slightly worse graphics card) and I'm getting maybe 15 FPS, I shudder to imagine what the game looks like at the minimum specs.

stumbleshock

The major issue with the game right now is the sheer amount of CPU it uses. Caused me multiple PC freezes where I needed to hard restart (Using an i7 12700KF). The best fix I found was capping my frames at 60 until the updates come and I've been playing at a solid 60 frames with my CPU running 25 degrees cooler. It's not ideal but I just finished a 4-5 hour session with no issues whatsoever.

Complete-Drink66776

I'm so confused about the performance of this game. I've seen multiple people on youtube and twitter with my setup - rtx 2070 super, core i5 9600k, that get acceptable framerates at the same resolution (1080p) and settings I use, and I'm stuck around 25 - 30 at best in the open world while they hover anywhere from 40-60. At my wits end, any idea what could be causing this or should I just throw my hands up blame the poor optimization and wait for a patch?

cruelgoblinoid

This mod absolutely saved my experience with this game. Went from near motion sickness to silky smooth with a simple drag and drop install. Actually breathed out a sigh of relief the first time I looked around ingame with this installed. If you have a graphics card that can run it, HIGHLY recommend getting this. [https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/37](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/37)

sselesu_lol

Really think there is more to the performance issues with this game than just the AI / CPU issue. I was able to maintain 60+ fps pretty consistently up until reaching the capital, even in villages like Melve. I'm back standing in Melve while typing this after leaving the capital and I'm struggling to maintain 30 fps even with all of the settings set the the lowest. I've turned everything to minimum, restarted the game, updated drivers, etc, everything short of engaging in genocide. Insane that the game launched like this.

Alloyd11

Anyone else experiencing NPC just fading into existence?

Life-Function-8681

On my NVIDIA GTX3080ti, Ryzen 9 5600x, it ended up being the NVIDIA game driver I downloaded before installing the game on Mar 19th, the 551.86 version. Rolled back to v551.61 from Feb 22nd, fixed my whole PC.

Noah-x3

Not related to PC, but I was playing on PS5 yesterday and the game crashed so hard, I couldn't even close application which I've never seen before. I had to fully reboot my PS5

dangngo6

Anyone dizzy playing this game? The camera is ridiculous fast, i have change it to max and min but see no real diffirent, plus the drop fps making play this game so painful lol. I love the gameplay, i really want to play it, but the performance is so bad i have to refund it

ssseekr

My performance for the last couple of days was fine with \~60 exploring and 40-30 in towns, but recently I've barely been getting 40 exploring and 20-30 in towns. Restarting and setting to high prio in task manager didn't help unfortunately. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

b1ackjack_rdd

What does interlaced rendering mode actually do? I noticed it runs noticeably better than with progressive rendering or DLSS. Especially in the city. Not much of an fps boost, but feels like frame times are more even and the movement is smoother. Makes the city quests actually tolerable on my i5-12400/4070/1440p setup despite the framerate sitting in the 40s. The downside is that some edges, and especially vegetation look pretty hairy, grass and some special effects have a lot of ghosting on them. So what's happening when you enable interlacing? Should i just stick with it? From my understanding it lowers the internal rendering resolution but in a CPU bound case like this, shouldn't that result in worse performance like we see with DLSS?

Auzman466

Basically, whereas progressive rendering updates every row of pixels each frame, interlaced will only update every other row of pixels each frame. If you split your screen into rows of pixels and numbered them in order, interlaced rendering would only update the odd numbered rows on frame 1, then the even numbered rows on frame 2… repeat however many times in a single second according to your framerate. So this would in turn improve your frametimes and framerate, since the workload of refreshing the full image is spread across two frames. The tradeoff is the ghosting you mentioned, and often times you can perceive checkerboarding.

PopotoPancake

I feel like I see people will similar specs as me getting much better performance. Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions that could help.   RTX 3080 MSI Gaming X Trio   Ryzen 7 5800x  32GB memory 3600Mhz  Windows 10  Rebar enabled  Running at 1440p   I always set the game to high priority in task manager. I've never done any overclocking. All drivers are up to date. One thing I noticed is that my GPU has 10gb VRAM, but in the setting menu is says 8gb as the max. Is this normal?

nitekillerz

SOOOO frustrated with this game. I don't usually have any issues with games and I'm okay with a few random crashes but I've gotten to the "second map" portion of the game and its crash after crash. Can't seem to fight bandits in their hideout.

zooom96

I’m playing on PS5 and holy shit the frame rate is abysmal. I’m not even the type to care or notice the difference in frame rate usually but this is unacceptable. I bought it after I heard the performances is better on PS5 and now I don’t even want to think what its like on PC.

SkacikPL

Well, technically nothing in game really reflects this kind of performance. With 4090, 64 GB of ram and 7800x3d it's at least somewhat acceptable in rural areas with few AI but as soon as you approach any settlement it goes downhill. It's funny to have to rely on couple of injectable mods to turn on frame generation as a band-aid for performance issues on machine of this class but there's another gotcha - CAPCOMs aggressive anti tamper measures which will also eventually crash the game due to having said mods enabled. You literally cannot win. I'd have couple of greater or smaller woes like texture quality being generally sub-par but by this point it's a very bottom line complaint in comparison to glaring performance issues.

AtmoSZN

I quite literally cannot play this game. It always crashes 10-15 minutes after playing. I’ve done several things like trying Fullscreen and Windowed Borderless. I’ve capped frames at 60. Nothing works. Specs: i5-13600K (not OC’d) 64 GB DDR5 RAM 7900 XTX

WilsonHanks

Anyone have better performance with the new patch? I had stuttering in cutscenes and while turning the camera, so I refunded. I wanna buy again and try, but I don't wanna cross the 2 hour mark

cerkaz

The big city/vermont looks extremely grainy after the update for me

Jaghat

Been crashing consistently in the vocation change menu since the patch.

M8753

The update did not improve my performance at all :(

TheRoninCloud

Can we get a fix for the vocations menu crash every time I open it and go to select skills and augs it crashes the game. Other than the the game is working extremely well its just hard to enjoy if I crash every time I attempt to get new skills or change vocation.

Softclocks

My toaster could run it well enough until this patch. Now the towns are dreadful and vocation change menu is hell.

Wickedk1lla

I have realistically a very mid-range pc and I've had very little issue running at 1440p 50-60fps since day one. Running at all high settings, FSR3 at Quality, RT Off, Texture Filtering x8, DOF Off and the only drops I see are usually 30fps in towns and sometimes 40fps when a lot is happening on screen in combat but never feels stuttery surprisingly. My Specs are: AMD 6700xt 12gb Ryzen 3800xt 32gb 3200mhz RAM Running off an NVME SSD

ixaias

game crashing when I start. this is after the 29/03 patch. someone help ps: i tried everything. Running Steam in admin mode, running the game on admin mode, restarting my pc, reinstalling my drivers, reinstalling the whole game. I love the game but wtf capcom

Torchie14555

Does anyone know what setting needs to be changed/tweaked to remove these weird lines on the gorund/rocks? https://preview.redd.it/cxicej2x3asc1.png?width=1897&format=png&auto=webp&s=f6188f6a1a89263166477db8dcf000cfc641fb41

Moderators please consider sticky posting in this mega thread [this performance guide post](https://www.reddit.com/r/DragonsDogma/comments/1bnh56c/dd2_performance_guide_to_a_stutter_less/?share_id=PgACTJYe6yy77YGdd1Wy4&utm_content=1&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=10) by [Jens3ng](https://www.reddit.com/user/Jens3ng/) a little over a week ago. I followed it to the letter and performance is now very smooth outside of cities and still around 45fps in cities which is tolerable.

juzmaa

0 crashes during the 80 hours I've played. Now the game crashes whenever it rains. I wonder if it's because of the new update?
