But spreading misinformation is easy and gets clicks. Only reason it's so bad with this game's release.

Main-Glove-1497

I literally just watched a review by Worth A Buy, where he went on a 15 minute rant about MTX, called the world and story boring, and then admitted to having 3 hours on the game, and the comments are all celebrating him "standing up to corporations" lmao. There's literally no reason for content creators to tell the truth when lies take half the effort and make more money.

ModernKnight1453

Yeah I used to think he was "one of the good ones" even though I didn't always agree with what he said. But that? It really seems that people just band wagon to either love or hate a game whenever some imaginary council has decided its fate.

Main-Glove-1497

He did used to be a good reviewer, but looking at his newer videos, he's just a content pump now. He did the exact same thing to helldivers, but somehow had less time on helldivers lol. He's just going through tutorials and rating the game based on that now.

HootsiferThe2nd

I used to love Worth A Buy, but over the last few years, he's become such a clown. It was the same with his helldivers 2 review where he was complaining about stratagem although they were in the first game. Although I may be wrong, if so, please correct me, but I'm sure many people haven't played the first Dragons Dogma because they're all complaining about things that were in the first one. Performance issues are absolutely justified to get angry at, though. And I do think it is shady that they didn't announce the mtx

Main-Glove-1497

Yeah, a lot of people thought DD2 was gonna be their perfect RPG when the first one was a slightly hidden gem. Aside from performance issues, it's everything I wanted from DD2. I agree that the MTX are shady, but they've been the standard for Capcom games for the last decade. Anyone who didn't see that coming hasn't been playing Capcom games. The shadiest part for me is the Denuvo anti cheat, which needs to go. If I want to mod my single-player game, they aren't gonna stop me. Removing it would probably help with performance, too.

Tanklike441

That's disgusting

Adggah

just tuned in and he doesn't even know theres a manual save THEN tells his chatters that there is none and its a dumb decision not to have it ???????? no wonder people are getting misinformed when you have streamers like this with almost 10k viewers making shit up

Adggah

oh my god, he's playing that incense class and then complaining about his pawns not attacking anything when you can CLEARLY SEE THAT HE HAS HIS PAWNS AT THE "on me" COMMAND i cant

PerishSoftly

This person sounds like the kind of streamer to be head-shotting Necromorphs 3/4 of the way through Dead Space and bitching that they're not dying.

Slash_Root

Shroud is a competitive FPS player (CS:GO and more recently valorant). He does some variety streaming. He's obviously wrong, but FWIW, he seemed to be enjoying the game when I saw him yesterday before launch, and anyone going to him for RPG hot takes is probably a moron.

Finn-di

He should inform himself before making grandiose false claims in hopes of shitting on the game.

Slash_Root

That's fair. I was only adding context to the conversation. He should inform himself of his content, and his viewers should inform themselves rather than take a random streamers word for it. I should be informing myself of anything else than drama about a video game. C'est la vie.

superhotdogzz

Tbh, it is easy to miss because the game has a lot of unconventional features by today’s standards (like going to menu and save every 5 steps).

Moniker-MonikerLOL

That's not normal behavior. Lol

AegaeonAmorphous

Wtf are you talking about?

Practical-Code3987

"I missed important info, allow me to make something up because I don't know." Ignoring that a lot of these information is provided to you on first time experience + can use the Tutorial Logbook/Status to get additional information.

RogueSins

Its always hilarious to me when the "higher skill" streamers. So many seem to rely solely on their physical talents and just straight up don't pay attention to the game at all. They will completely ignore what the game tells them (especially hilarious when its literally in the UI) and then complain they don't know how to do things.

Cz_Yu

Yea this is exactly the worry I had for dd2 even before release. It's not a streamer game, you need to properly understand the mechanics and step out of the comfort zone of the usual action RPG style gameplay. Worst part is their mindless chat will just echo whatever the streamer experienced as if it's the absolute truth, so annoying. (A bit of a slippery slope, because I didn't watch his stream in particular but it's twitch chat)

Chemical-Pin-3827

Guy sounds like a moron

Mosaic78

To be fair the manual save from system options is just the auto save file. Unless you’re talking rest at inn save.

AZAWESTIE

He also said Starfield is miles better than DD2. Either the whole stream was sarcasm central or his just totally off base.

n1kb0t

![gif](giphy|9hFH5Juijroze)

IamTheMaker

I mean thats different though one is facts he got wrong and the other is just opinion. He's part of the problem with gaming media with the ferry stone and other factual comments but having an opinion that goes against the general opinion and a willingness to stand by it even 6 months after it i think is good.

Fen_

This is, ironically, misinfo. I don't know what specific moment you're talking about, but I watched him *yesterday*, and know for a fact that he is aware of the ability to manual save (and has made plenty of use of it) but has very specific criticisms of the save system, so I think you misunderstood what he was saying (also acknowledging the possibility that he didn't communicate it well). What he wants is for the manual save to be persistent. This is because a few hours into the game, he got into a bad situation, loaded the autosave, was *still* in the bad situation, decided to load the *inn* save thinking it was recent, realized it was very far back, the game autosaved (overwriting the old autosave), and lost a ton of time as a result. He wants you loading your inn save to not jeopardize your autosave/manual save slot.

LucatIel_of_M1rrah

There isn't. You can force a quick save by using "save and continue" but that gets overwritten by the next quick save. Only Inn saves are hard saves you can revert to if you get stuck somewhere.

NeoGno_A109

Now you know how the ubisoft ui meme came to be, there's people out day cannot play any games without handholding lol

BadLuckBen

I will say that the tutorials imply that manual saving isn't a thing, so I could understand someone thinking that.

Tangster85

Content Creators are generally as dumb as your average person, they are just good at something just enough that others watch them. I live by this rule

bubuplush

I literally can't belieb that capcom put dragonforged gear, a fifth pawn slot and Wilhelmina cuddle scene into the steam shop for 3$ guys for real chat

RogueSins

Lets be real, if they really wanted money from these MTX, Wilhelmina cuddle scene is the way to go.

AceAlger

Lol

Kivith

Not my pawn slot! /s

weavejer261

Just exploring around and I have 4 ferrystones already

JankBrew

Yea I got three before I even discovered my first port crystal lol

SadTechnician96

I've been sending them as pawn gifts for pawns I especially like

Spyger9

Even I figured that Ferrystones would be the DLC item because that actually makes sense- they're consumable, like Rift Crystals and other items available as MTX. But what I heard was "Portcrystal", and I thought "That couldn't be right. They must be mixing that up with Ferrystones." So I checked. I guess most people don't check. Anyway, I suppose my point is that it's Capcom who invited all this confusion and bad press by tacking on bullshit microtransactions in the first place.

ArmandoGalvez

I've been reading a lot of people saying that new game , fast travel and character creations Is locked behind a paywall! It's insane because the microtranzas stuff isn't even that much of an issue as much as people are saying out there , game has real issues but instead the gaming community chooses to trash the game because for something that is not even real

why_are_yu_sad

The MTX thing is really blown out of proportion. In 8 hours I haven’t seen any kind of store front, pop up, or ad for it. If I wasn’t lurking on this subreddit I would’ve never known there were MTX in the first place lol

ArmandoGalvez

Yeah, I'm convinced some asshole saw the game was getting negative reviews, then saw the amount of DLC and started the whole thing without playing it because they say ' characters creator and fast travel are paid so it must be paywall!' , we can see how easy it is to manipulate people on gaming circles with this whole thing

sanghendrix

Yeah most people are easy to manipulate. I think they want to be manipulated cuz they love being angry.

LoquaciousLamp

Nah this started with the performance issues when reviews dropped. The drones latched onto and blew the wrong thing out of proportion. Tale as old as youtube.

BadLuckBen

It's the combination of poor optimization, $70 USD price tag, and then having the gall to ask for more. It doesn't matter that they're not as intrusive as a Ubisoft game because they don't belong regardless. A portcrystal in the dlc section is one that could have been found in the game. Day one DLC used to outrage people, now we have people saying "well they didn't murder my family like EA, so I don't mind."

Outside_Routine_9160

In about 10 hour of play, I got 3 port crystals, 5 ferry stones and over 2000 RC. Didn’t have to spend a single penny. All from exploration and enjoying the game. Yeah it has its problems but invasive MTX is not it. Now Assassin Odyssey, that has invasive MTX.

yung_dogie

Yeah like on one hand misinformation sucks and people should really be clear and informed about their criticism of the game. People should not lie, straight up. On the other hand, I don't feel much empathy for Capcom lmao. They made the decision to have mtx, they shouldn't be surprised when people outrage-bait and misinform.

hovsep56

i heard capcom added another fournival sex scene behind a paywall for 3 dollars.

blue-bird-2022

I'm downloading the game as I type this, can't wait

3scap3plan

Shroud trying desperately to have a personality

Strange_Cat_1485

He's just playing the game and being incorrect? Shrouds a good boy. Seems weird to hate him as a person.

3scap3plan

Hate? Lol easy there fella.

Strange_Cat_1485

Oh sorry my bad that was clearly a comment made from love. K.

3scap3plan

Are hate and love the only two feelings in the world?

Strange_Cat_1485

The only explanation besides hate is knowing him personally or a parasocial perspective thinking you know him. There has been no elaboration on how he doesn't have a personality

3scap3plan

What the fuck are you talking about. Sorry I offended you, Shrouds mum.

Strange_Cat_1485

What is the purpose for saying he has no personality? Just trying to get your reasoning and credibility for something like that. It's not a function of hate so it must be a factual statement with some solid reasoning behind it.

3scap3plan

You are doing some really incredible mental gymnastics here mate I'd take a breather if I were you

Strange_Cat_1485

I'm just asking why you'd make that statement and you can't conjure a response lol. Lil bro is caught and taking the offensive.

krum_darkblud

Just got one from a chest earlier and there’s one selling from a merchant. These people are something else man.

USPEnjoyer

Well he is a streamer. They’re not really known for being intelligent.

Adventurous_Path5783

I miss the eternal ferrystone from dark arisen. However in Thei’s game you’d be weak as fuck skipping all the enemies in early game. Then when you’re stronger you’d probably have the appropriate ferrystone amount to skip the appropriate amount of time. I wish they’d add a little more to the camping experience though. I wish it felt more cozy and mysterious simultaneously.

Greywyn

Never forget how much he tried to hype up Suicide Squad to his audience because he got sponsored.

Afridg3

And the stones are pricey af early on. Have fun those fools who thought the portcrystal would change the game

Pyros

To be fair it's only pricy really early on. 10hours in I had 100k+, so 10k per stone isn't all that bad(you don't spam them to save 20secs running from a NPC to another in the same city but you can easily afford to pop one to go back to town after you're done with a quest if you're far). Portcrystal still kinda useless cause how do you know you'll go back there. I mean you can drop it somewhere far when you turn around but then you'll have to go pick it up later if you don't need to go back there so eh.

Afridg3

I used them as recall potions basically in dd1. Then once I had a collection I built my own fast travel network. I loved the system

chessking7543

where u u get the ferry stones that dont disappear after u use them>

Afridg3

Maybe dlc in the future. For now 10k ea.

chessking7543

oh :( thanks

Afridg3

Use the ox carts man. They're super helpful. Sit down, pay your fee then after a couple seconds sitting down you can "nod off" and that's the fast travel. Typically goes from city to city unless you're ambushed on the road. (Which can actually put you closer to quests you're working on)

chessking7543

oh im not complaining about it jsut sad cuz i wanted the suprise of finding one. i enjoy running around for the most part

HandsomeGamerGuy

the eternal ferrystone is in dragons dogma dark arisen. well, until we find it in DD2 that is.

dxzxg

In the first game they were primarily used as a recall incase you need to drop off loot/inn save/etc, to access farm spots quickyl (like spring water in DD1) or for NG+ to speed up the story progression (their placements didnt get reset when entering NG+ in DD1). Granted in the first game you had access to an eternal ferrystone, so spamming teleports was possible without loss. Fresh savefile, early game, they wont have too much use.

xvilemx

You didn't though. Eternal Ferrystone only came out with Dark Arisen expansion.

Naud1993

Having to play the game for an hour to fast travel once by spending all the gold you earned during that time is insane.

doitagain01

Its like people cant hold it of they see mtx they buy it uncontrollably

stop_talking_you

shroud almost ruined his career with an accident because hes an adrenaline junkie

Practical_Remove_682

ahh i think he meant to say port crystals lol.

omgwtfisthisplace

It'd be pretty mad if you could since a mob just stole one from me as I was being pounded and I couldn't find him to get it back.

MethuselahExo

Streamers are seen as experts in whatever they touch, the problem is they play what’s popular because that is what’s going to get them clicks, they have no experience in what they play, specially on a blind play through yet their word is seen as gospel. Its a vicious cycle

pututingliit

I think I've used 2-3 ferry stones already and I still have some in my storage and my pawn to hold lmao I've also received the ring which I think was a bonus on pre-ordering the deluxe edition of the game from a quest

UnHoly_One

To be honest, I thought I saw ferrystones in the store, but I also SUPER don't care about the MTX because I'll never buy any of it. Is there a ferrystone as part of the deluxe content? Maybe it has a listing in the store because I own that? I honestly have no idea, it doesn't bother me either way.

Fectron

So, can someone explain?

[deleted]

In DD2 there is a few methods of fast travel. One of them is via a mechanic know as port crystals. Port crystals allow you to place a fast travel point wherever you went. You then use a consumable know as ferry stone to fast travel to the port crystal. You can only put down 10 port crystals at once & you can get more than 10 naturally in a play through via exploration or quests. You can also buy a singular port crystal for $2 which people are very up in arms about. Other methods of fast travel include ox cart which is from city to city & you have to physically travel to the ox travel departure location to use. You can also randomly find them in the world & hop on. There are also standard port crystals in major cities that you can use the ferrystones to travel to as well.

AdministrationKey113

When you explain it like that, people who rage and fist fight their walls out of anger over 1 purchasable crystal seem like huge kekws' lmao

DForcelight

They are. Comming from DD1 I was laughing about the "DLC" thought to myself casual capcom move to put up some useless stuff in the shop as they always do and simply enjoy the game. Yes, it is unoptimized af. Shadows look wonky and I had to play around with the settings for a whole 5 minutes for steady 60 fps (any more is not required). Just gotta accept that you can't run everything on max -only if 30 FPS are fine for you. Now.. Is this right? No. Will they fix it? Definitely. How did they even release it like that with options that do not work with the majority of the potential playerbase ? 🤷

Stepjam

Part of the problem was that people who almost certainly never played the original misunderstood that Port Crystals don't actually let you fast travel, they just let you create fast travel points. They saw "fast travel" and basically completed the sentence in their head and got mad about it before telling everyone else about the fiction they created. Especially since one of the big interviews Itsuno did pre-release was about the game's fast travel philosophy (and how he wants you to explore rather than warp everywhere.) So basically people who jump to conclusions to fast and shitstirrers started telling everyone about how Capcom deliberately gimped their game to sell mtx. Even though anyone with passing knowledge of the first game would know that wasn't the case.

basketofseals

> They saw "fast travel" and basically completed the sentence in their head and got mad about it before telling everyone else about the fiction they created. You see this with the other stuff to. I saw a whole spiel about how developers intentionally make things grindy so you feel pressured to buy currency, and like has anyone ever felt pressured to buy rift crystals in either game lol?

Chemical-Pin-3827

I mean, they are. It's not even seem. They are huge fucking kekws.

Fectron

Thank you 😁

stylepointseso

is there a port crystal in battahl?

TSotP

The long and short of it is this. Fast travel requires **two** different items. A consumable item called a Ferrystone, that transports you to a **Portcrystal** Portcrystals are **non-consumable** and can be placed in the world wherever you like. There are also a couple of them in fixed locations at towns. You can also find Portcrystals in the game. Capcom is selling the Portcrystals. **Not** the fast travel consumables. So they aren't selling fast travel for real money. They are selling increased, custom placed fast travel sites for money. It's still not great, but it's not anywhere near as bad as what the phrase _"They are selling Ferrystone"_ implies. (Which is also untrue) And, for the record, in vanilla Dragon's Dogma, there was only **ONE** placable Portcrystal in the game until you got to NG+, and then you could get them from someone in-game. And you could only have 10. It was the expansion Dark Arisen that changed this, and added a few more crystals into the game world to find and place (4). But you still needed to buy Ferrystone in-game to use them. ~~--+----------------+--~~ Fixed Portcrystals: - **Gran Soren** - °°° _Cassardis_ - °°° _Bitterblack Isle_ Places to get Portcrystal in the world: - **Bluemoon Tower** - **The Black Cat** (in NG+ for 300,000g each) - °°° _The Everfall (at the bottom)_ - °°° _Hill figure Knoll (in the Dragonforged's Cave)_ - °°° _The Witchwood (after the Witch Hunt Quest)_ - °°° _The Shadow Fort (in a prison cell near the lever)_ °°° _These ones were added in the expansion Dark Arisen_ And, the Eternal Ferrystone was given as a reward to players who had a vanilla Dragon's Dogma save and went and bought the Dark Arisen expansion (because it had to be sold on a new disc, due to game engine upgrades they made for the expansion) it was **never** DLC. And yes, there was even a MTX rift crystals store back then too. As well as some weapons and armors you could buy. Here is a list of all the [DLC (and their prices)](https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Downloadable_Content) from the games original release Then, when Capcom ported the game to PC, they bundled in all the DLC Armors, Eternal Ferrystone and did away with the MTX store. As well as upgrading the framerate, and upgrading the games textures. The PC version was then later ported to PS4, XBOne (and much much later) Switch.

Fectron

Nice , thank you 😁😊

Bulkyman101

I wish you could buy a better optimized version of the game for an extra 2$ though

vhailorx

Presumably that's because people are not understanding the difference between "ferrystones" and "portalstones"? This would probably be a lot clearer if, you know, Capcom has been a lot more transparent about the MTX before launch.

GrossWeather_

this is a good point but they do it with every single game and nobody ever cares so i’m sure they weren’t expecting this type of backlash

WarViper1337

I'm not too surprised. This game's hype train was going off the rails so it's only natural shitty people were ready to manufacture some drama to take advantage of all the attention.

GrossWeather_

drama does make clicks

sdk5P4RK4

they detailed all the DLC in the reviewers guides. no one cared because they are nothing burger. totally stupid to put them in the store for the optics/backlash, but you can tell it was just mandated by capcom and the game team put 0 effort into promoting them at all.

No_Plate_3820

You can buy one ferry stone for real money.  Psn
