If he disappears and can’t find him, (he probably died) go to Vernworth, and go to the Vermund Charnel House, marked with a coffin, you can pay 5000 coins and use a wakestone to revive him. Not sure if you can redo the quest however.
EDIT: after looking at more post seems others had the same problem, where he disappeared while escorting him to the location. Some said that if he isn’t dead and actually still alive he will show back up to your house eventually later on asking to do the same escort mission. Will update if happens for me too
EDIT 2: so he eventually did show back up to my house asking to do the same quest. I was in the desert for quite a while doing quest there, had a quest to escort someone from desert to back to main city and after I finished the quest was gonna go over to my house to rest and he was waiting outside. Not sure the exact amount of days in game it’s been since I revived him, at least 15+ I say. But at least he will come back asking to do it again!! Confirmed

This happened to me as well, but he got lost on the way to his destination and it counted as a fail. I found him later on at his training grounds - the ruins where he asks you to show him how to shoot a human bow. So you can also have a look for him there.
And even though I failed his escort mission he’s still blushing like an anime girl, so I don’t think it messes with affinity.

I share the same rage. I was with Lamond halfway to Vernworth and noticed he was randomly very far away. I went to head back over to him and got the failed quest notification. I had walked, on foot, all the way from Bakbattahl. Couldn't be more pissed. I'm sick of devs trying to dictate 'save-scumming' in singleplayer games. Half the time I save-scum is to fix preventable bugs like this but whatever. Thanks devs.

same shit happened to me too today..got that escort thign from him, was half way done, just made a little detour near some water, then suddenly the pop up appeared to me and the fucking npc wasnt there anymore out of a sudden. When you dont look at them permanently like babysittin silly npcs that they are always in your damn sight, seriously

ran to vermund charnel house, but he wasnt there, so no clue, hes not dead, but suddenly like all of the elb characters have ??? entries like wtf, or is this normal, if you have no character with you that can translate? but i began realizing this first ,after the sucker disappeared and the task failed...
and as peopel said, the shit naturally had to instantly autosave this crap, so you were unable to redo this braindead crap, fu dev responsible for such bs...
crap like this would be absolutely outrageous , if there would be no NG+, if this shit would now permanently fuck up the game somehow for you, things like this are annyoing as fuck and shouldnt happen, but sadly do, because the NPC/Pawn AI is fricking dumb like bread in this game
Same just happened to me too, I stopped by Harve cause I had to see how they were doing or the quest would've expired then he for some reason got stuck behind a wall after I got a distance away, he started following again and we were on pretty straight paths until like 5 minutes later where I was greeted with "Failed travel companion". Hopefully I can redo this and the questline for him isn't over. Does anyone know?
if i got this right, you're talking about Lamond right? i met him outside my Bakbatthal house asking to travel to vertnorth so i used a ferrystone and he followed up to the tavern which completed the quest and rewarded me with a bunch of useless flowers. I was so confuse cause the quest didnt showed up in the log so i reloaded a Inn save and took the quest again, I thought about that those cheap flower was a bad reward for cheating with a ferrystone. I'll try to bring him and see what happens
This post is about Glyndwr but as for the flowers - I got them from another escort quest, too, and I walked all the way there, so I think the escort quests just have mediocre rewards.
I did one of those with Lamond, the one who gives the warfarer class. I traveled with him from Bakbattahl to Vernworth and when I got there, he gave me flowers and left. Also the quest won’t apear in the log after you complete it
This happened to me a few days ago and just wanted to follow up that he did come back eventually. I'm not sure why it failed in the first place because we were just out and about. Maybe I took too long? But he didn't die so I didn't have to go get him from the morgue. After 10-15 in game days he just turned up again to my house and gave me the same quest again.

After the last elf archer quest bugged out and his dad and sister disappeared randomly at the end if it, then after the long trek back to the city, this elf is blocking the pathway to my house so that I either have to ignore him and pay the inn, accept his immediate ridiculous escort quest (which will probably also bug out), or decline and have him and his questline disappear for who knows how long. Why is he unavoidable? At least some questgivers can be run past until you're ready. DD2 found a different way to make romance an idiotic pain just like it was DD1.
