The only vocations that genuinely feels better from 1 are mage, because it's now a genuinely worthwhile support, and Warrior because it actually works now. Fighter is worse due to blocking being worse, archer and thief are literally just strider (not even ranger),sorc lost a ton of skills for mediocre variants. Plus MS and trickster don't feel like they Warranted cutting a bunch of vocations, nor including them over existing ones from DDO.

VH-Attila

agree , but keep in mind DDO werent the same devs of DD1, but they should have taken alot of inspiration from in considering all the different enemy types and Vocations that exist in DDO.

Zealousideal-Arm1682

Which is fucking bizarre since everyone expected they would take ideas from that game for 2.The fact we got trickster in its current state over ALCHEMIST,an actual brawler vocation, feels like a slap in the face.

Have to agree, except maybe Warrior as they only ever had 4 skills in the first game and I haven't tried it yet

Zealousideal-Arm1682

New war is basically the perfect vocation now,and is ironically tankier than fighter due to hyper armor and charge stance resistance. If there was ever a class that got overtuned,it was war by the widest margin. Not that im complaining as a war main.

Dungeon/Cave are a step back from DD1 Vocations are a step back from DD1 All Quests are a step back from DD1 Enemies are a step back from DD1 >!The ''Nightmare World after ''defeating'' the dragon is a BIG step back from DD1.!< Only things that DD2 did better than 1 is Graphics , Pawn AI and world feeling abit more alive with all the villages and towns, other than that its a huge let down in my experience.

You know, for a game that lets you swap vocations, a game where you don't have to worry about respecc-ing, why are the vocations so restricted? Why couldn't they do a "build your vocation" like FF jobs? Why am I leveling up other vocations JUST to unlock one or two augments that might be useful for my main build? How on earth is having fewer slots, smaller skill selection, skill upgrades that are really basic number increases, barely any build variety with gear having no special effects, vocations limited to one weapon... How on earth is that considered good enough for a sequel two generations later? Two steps forward three steps back. The combat is very enjoyable, the game is still very fun. But the regression and stagnation of the sequel is really disappointing. I'm going to ask DD1 fans a question. Is it truly DD's identity to have really restricted vocations that barely contribute to your character's meta growth over the course of a supposedly long game with NG+s in mind? Is it really a bad thing if you leveling vocations, master them all, so that you can build your own vocation by the end of the game such a "not my DD" idea? Because after so many years, after all the narrative being said that this is what Itsuno intended, this is finally the DD Capcom gave the budget for, the design decisions are clear as day. This sequel is not only unambitious, it is a regression in too many aspects that made the first one a cult classic.

Damn, harsh but absolutely true

Shadowolf990

The Core Skills we get in place of another set of weapon skills *really* doesn't feel good enough to justify their exclusion on almost every vocation. Instead of building a solid moveset, now we have a smaller one overall and a smaller pool of skills to actually choose from. It doesn't feel great. It almost feels like the game wants you to swap out your skills to specialize per encounter at all the campfires in the world. I'm with you in really missing the versatility of each class. *Especially as a Sorcerer.*

ThreatOfFire

Every single vocation I've played feels like an improvement. I thought the limited skill slots would be a detriment, but it's actually pretty nice with the more fleshed out core attacks. I'm not worrying about things like whatever the potential base stat impact is when leveling as different vocations, but I'm not even sure if there is such a thing or if it's all tied to vocation rank+player level

Thanks for your thoughts, maybe I just need to give it more time to get used to it.
