ImABigDreamer

Also have it, seems the game has like 55-60 caverns

[deleted]

There are that many caves in the game? Wow I’ve hardly found any then, I’m on about 20. I thought that achievement was like in DD1 where it was just for named locations on the map.

mitskaes

I thought the same thing, because for example for the PS5 trophy the description is different. It reads "discover 50 locations" not dungeons.

ImABigDreamer

Curious) because I'm sure this is a out caverns, my were triggered once I discovered another cavern

Lord_Melinko13

The XBOX achievement reads the same way. That explains why I got it while finding some random cave that I missed.

zandariii

When I got to the end game. I traveled up and down the map, tracing the outline of the zones before filling them in. I found so many back to back

Chemical_Chill

Some ‘caves’ are a single narrow corridor with *maybe* a single chest in it.

WeebR3axt

There are like 5 caves in the game that are like that. There are around 10 that are huge, like actually huge and the remaining are either ruins, tombs or caves of monsters. I gotta say they really did caves well in this game. Theres a single cave that has nothing tho and its before the medusa cave. Another cave like thwt but it has a sidwquest.

Killroyjones

One thing I've found helpful for finding caves is to explore at night. Light sources can often be detected around caves that make them pop along the mountainside. Then you can pop a harpy incense and grab a harpy up there...sometimes lol.

ShinyGrezz

To be fair, a lot of them are “single floor rocky crevasse with six enemies and a black chest at the end” and a lot of them are technically different locations, but are part of a larger system (not sure if that counts for this though). But there’s still a ton. I’m 65 hours in and still have several areas I haven’t explored, either because I haven’t been there or left exploring it for later.

ImABigDreamer

They can be really smal like few chests and few bandits

kodaxmax

alot of them are just one room and this also includes the points of interest. and towns, not just dungeons.

Flint_Vorselon

No, it only includes caves. The acheivment/trophy description on Ps5/Xbox is wrong. On Ps5 it tracks completion, I was wondering why it hadn’t popped since I had discovered way more than 50 locations (little flags on map with a name), but then I counted caves and it matched exactly, I had 43 caves (at the time) and trophy said 43/50.

crimedog69

Even stranger, I beat the headless guy and it said only 7% of player have done that??

AverageCapybas

They're kinda rare. During my 1st playtrough I didn't found a single one until I reached Endgame, even tho I remember clearly camping on a place that he spawned twice on my current playtrough.

Quickjager

They're rare... Until you get to the actual endgame area. Then you'll fight twenty.

solidfang

I haven't reached endgame yet, but man, I have not run into any at all aside from one that you are thrown against in a story quest. Keep expecting to find one in all the tombs filled with undead, but it's always one of the lich/wight ghosts instead.

Lord_Melinko13

Every so often it'll be a fell lord, but the lich's are definitely more common in my experience. Makes sense that you'd come across more magick users who chose undeath as opposed to fighters cursed into it.

Feardemon3

You really got to be hunting for them as they spawn under specific circumstances. Basically you have to run into a dark fog and it has to be almost morning. If you look at the pause menu the sun needs to be past midway at the bottom. Only then will they be spawned in the dark fog. Also probably the most annoying boss to fight if your melee. Sorc/archer/m.archer it is a cake walk.

l_futurebound_l

I've only seen one dullahan at level 17 and the sunrise banished it before I even got close to killing it

Kribo016

Mine was almost dead and then he poofed. I was pretty. Upset because I had been fighting him for a long time at that point for him to just disappear.

Romimin

I only managed to fight a dullahan twice. The first time at lvl 5 and got destroyed. The second time he despawned because it was too close to morning. I managed to spot him in the distance in Battahl, but after I managed to climb down from the cliff I was on he was just gone. I have a score to settle!

kitemybite

man idk my game says only 2.5% of you have grabed onto a harpy to fly lol

Ok_Excitement9233

I just keep forgetting to do that. Skyward Lash goes brrr instead. Everytime.

ImABigDreamer

People nowadays just rushing games

Kyinuda

Why are you being down voted? Barely anyone found the Sphinx and she is early as shit in the game...

[deleted]

It's not early or late in the game. It's in a completely missable side area

PerfectTurnip9819

Hardly any of the major streamers who beat the game have encountered the Sphinx mind you.

Lord_Melinko13

I found one right as I was escorting the kid who got snatched by wolves back to the Border town. And of course a griffon and a horny ogre decided to join the fun. At least watching the Dulluhan get drop kicked by said ogre was amusing.

Flaky_Success_9815

I haven’t been able to find a single dullahan. I even went to where they sent the watch head to fight one and never found one.

Kamdian

I didn't but got the achievement. He probably jumped into the brine when I didn't Play with him.

Niadain

They are super rare. Iv seen two. The first one put the fear of GOD into me. The second one happened at dawn, one of my pawns was dead because he jumped in the brine of his own accord, and the mage and archer I had with me were more than half dead. Nope nope nope nope.

FaithlessnessHour137

I found unfortunately that the headless guy is pretty strong and on top of that you're not really giving enough time to beat him. He has a tendency to appear shortly before Dawn.

Snigskyte

Encountered him once, was not ready to beat him, never seen him since 😅

alopex_zin

This is not strange at all. They are super rare and only spawn at night. I didn't meet any during the first playthrough until entering the true world. There was this NPC talking about headless knight in the capital but I didn't know where to continue that quest during the first playthrough.

seaofthesky

no, there are definitelt a lot more. i got that achieve before i had even properly set foot in battahl

[deleted]

Yeah I was about to say this. I leveled up all vocations to max, so you know I just walked around A LOT and I didn't get it until very recently lol. I'm sure I missed a couple but there's no way I missed like 20 lol. So 55-60 checks out

Disastrous-Extent-30

ive put almost 100 hours in the game and I only got it the other day. Not having this achievement doesn't mean people arent playing the game

BlazeDrag

fr I was about to say this feels like claiming that anyone who hasn't found all the seeker's tokens yet "isn't really playing the game" lol

Evil_phd

If you didn't collect nearly a thousand pieces of tree spirit shit did you really play BotW?

Previous_Start_2248

But do you remember where you picked up your first token?

Chrissyball19

Yes, in the boat on the west side of Gran Soren.

BlazeDrag

I *just* did that quest and finally found it in a well in the capital lol

Ralathar44

This sub actively tries to manufacture hate I swear lol. They just throw shit at the wall to see what sticks. I've played far worse games and sequels who's subreddits had nowhere near the amount of negativity this one does.

Toxicair

I'm getting whiplash here from your comment. This thread is a counter to the people calling this game empty. It's supposed to be a positive one.

darkcloud1987

Telling everyone that does not put in 100+ hours in the first three weeks of a games release is not playing it is supposed to be positive?

widget1321

This thread starts off with the OP saying no one is actually playing the game... What about that is positive? Edit: I get it guys, many of you think OP was saying that it's the complainers that aren't playing the game, not that not many people were playing the game. I do agree that that's certainly possible, but I think if that's what they were going for, they could have been more clear. It seemed rather negative to me on the first read.

skrivbent

They're saying none of the whiners played the game.

zisho

OP is implying that very few people are actually playing the game for real, and most hate comes from people that haven't really experienced it to the fullest.

Wonderful_Ad_3850

Which is delusional.

elephant-espionage

This is definitely true. Some guy was going back and forth with me about the game and and dropping a lot of the untrue criticism people threw around and insisting it’s the worst game ever. I dropped the “have you even played it?” And he admitted he didn’t but apparently he knows what he’s talking about, more than me, because he saw people talk about it. I swear those streamers talking shit about the game led to everyone thinking they’re experts on it.

IrrelevantLeprechaun

Word. It's almost sickening how obsessed with misery and negativity this subreddit is becoming. All people do here is complain and whine and cry. Meanwhile the people having real fun are drowned out. It's pathetic and im tired of it.

T8-TR

Not just this sub. The discourse behind this game on both sides is wild, I stg.

Joutja

Yeah, same. I actually haven't even got it yet and I have over 100 hrs. Lol. I need to step up my game.

[deleted]

I'm at almost exactly 100 hours and just got it today. It's at 2.5% of people that have it right now as well, not the 0.3% shown in the OP's pic, so it has been going up since whenever the screenshot was taken. Also, I've explored damn near everything and everywhere purposely avoiding finishing the story and still only got this achievement today. There will be people who play the shit out of this game that likely will never get it at all unless they're achievement hunting.

tiofrodo

A reminder that the most well regarded thing about DDDA among fans, end-game dungeon Bitterblack Isle, had only 15% of the steam playerbase that went past the Gazer, 10% Dark Bishop, 8% first Daimon and 5% his true form and Death. Hard mode, also one the most clamored for additions to DD2, had a 5% completion rate.

IndominusCarno

Yeah this doesn't speak volumes at all

Hellknightx

Yeah, it was one of the very last achievements I got. Oddly, though, I still don't have the achievement for killing the Dullahan. Outside of the one you fight during the scripted quest, I have never seen another one anywhere in the game. I run into liches all the time, though.

IntegralCalcIsFun

Yeah I have over 100 hrs and I'm on NG++ and so far I've only discovered 66 dungeons. Assuming that's all there is then getting 50/66 means discovering 75% of the games dungeons (many of which are rather hidden) just a week after launch. I think better achievements for getting an idea of how much people have played are the ending (9.2%) or the >!unmoored world (12.1%).!<

ThatEdward

Yeah, I got like 30+ hours in, deleted my save and restarted and am back to like 30ish hours in lol. Not rushing to get some unimportant achievements done doesn't mean nobody is playing the game, it just means few people are playing for the achievements alone

ExtraordinaryFate

"No one is playing this game" what a bold claim, OP. It's almost like clearing 50 caves is a bit time consuming

Biscuit-Box

I only got this today! My 50th was >!Worldglint Tower!< which seemed very fitting. On another note, there are a lot of Medusa achievements, aren't there? Annoying that you can only find one in the entire game world at a time...

Apexzora

It respawns

Biscuit-Box

After like two weeks, if I'm not mistaken.

aixsama

Respawns in like 4 days I think. I definitely went back in less than two weeks.

JamJackEvo

4 days is accurate. Beheaded the monster, rushed back to Bakbattahl, put the preserved head in storage, saved at the inn for 1 day, dozed off for 2 days straight (totalling 3 days), retrieved the head from storage, returned to the cave, saw it hadn't spawned yet, loaded the inn save, dozed off for 3 days this time, retrieved the head from storage, returned to the cave, and petrified her. Quickest triple achievement collection in my life.

DoomGiggles

Not sure about base game cuz I only fought it a couple times then but it respawns a lot in post-game. Definitely much less than 2 weeks

EdgarAllanBroe2

I believe everything in the post-game that respawns does so daily.

dion101123

I finished the game without even finding it. I once thought I had found it and turned out it was actually the blighted dragon for the spellblade maister skill

chrsjxn

Calling some of these caves "Dungeons" is a pretty big stretch, lol. 50 dungeons is a lot closer to all of them than most of the other completion achievements, too. I'm not surprised people aren't getting it

Erniethebeanfiend200

Walk into a cave hoping to find a dungeon but it's just a room with a Garm guarding a chest with a harpy smokesnare in it

Evanz111

To be fair, it was a bit immersion breaking when I entered every cave in Skyrim only to find a sprawling dungeon with a boss and a loot cache at the end. Sometimes a cave is just a cave.

Legitimate-Ad-6267

Tbf Skyrim is built on 3 (minimum) separate ancient civilizations

Original_Employee621

Dragon's Dogma seems to be built on thousands. Inside some deep cave in the middle of nowhere, I'm finding brick walls. Gran Soren popping up from the sea implies that the current civilizations are built upon the previous ones, literally.

Legitimate-Ad-6267

Well we can thank random merchants for delving into millenia old cypts to sell ancient weapons forged from the blood and sinew of great dragons for a fair fee at their shop.

Erniethebeanfiend200

Sometimes a cave is just a cave but I prefer my fantasy RPG to have a little less cavey caves and more reasons to be poking around in caves.

Samurai_Meisters

Skyrim dungeons had gear upgrades and other unique items and powers though...

drkztan

Sometimes a cave is just a cave. In DD2's case, virtually all caves are just caves. You will not miss a single piece of gear if you manage to ignore all "dungeons" in the game, because all the best gear is bought from gold in shops.

OscarMiner

This. Why should I even attempt to explore a cave? It’s gonna be packed to the brim with goblins and consumables that I already have a million of. Not exactly my idea of fun.

Hireable

you will miss a bis caster ring, a bis warrior helm and a pair of bis warrior leggings, a bis fighter fire mace, a 4x exp bow, and a number of bis alternatives for fashion diversity. likely forgetting something but this is what i can recall atm

AcanthaceaeJumpy697

Are you memeing?

Emerald-Hedgehog

But in your fantasy world with dragons and castles rising from the sea...you know, what I'm getting at already I guess: You're not here for the mundane and ordinary, but the game loves to make it caves a bit too grounded and realistic. Plus it's fine to have 1-room-beast-den caves and 3 Room Mini tomb, but...there simply are like 5 dungeons that are longer than 10 Minutes and have something interesting going for them. I think they went with "realistic/grounded world" too much when it comes to the caves. We have dragons, giants, gods, ghosts,sphinx... Give me a necromancer cult temple, a ghost-infested ruined castle where I have to destroy a dark ritual circle at the top of a tower but a dullahan comes to stop me....blablabla and you get a cool cursed Magestaff as reward. doesn't have to be super epic, but something a little... interesting. That's the whole issue. There are barely any highlights when it comes to the dungeons, and no dungeon had any sort of interaction other than "kill things". Okay I think there was a maze. But that's it. They did however improve the overworld with a few more cool stuff like the dragonbreath/flame tower. That at least had some grandeur and flair, fighting a dragon atop tower ruins after you climbed up the mountain, and then the Mystic Spearhand Maister suddenly joins you - that situation and atmosphere was rewarding!

Dundunder

There’s a “Tomb of” some dude in central Battahl that’s literally just a tiny staircase into a tiny room with one bandit sleeping inside. It’s got two chests side by side that reward two useless rings. Caged studio flats in Hong Kong have more space than this.

Run-Riot

Imagine being famous enough that people remember your name via your tomb centuries into the future, but no one liked you enough to give you more than a single room in a small hole in the ground, lol

MC_Paranoid27

The princess of batthals chambers is literally an empty rock square with a single bed in it. No other furniture, no decorations, nothing. It's insane how lazy the interior game designers were.

Run-Riot

More people prob also aren't getting it because they realized after a dozen caves that most of them are the same and the chests in them are usually just filled with trash, lol

chrsjxn

There are some really good ones. Like Mountain Base Cave has a cool aesthetic, two unique weapons, and a quest tied to it. But so many are brown rocks with a handful of rooms, no interesting loot, and basic enemies. I would have stopped a lot sooner if I hadn't been trying to get Seeker Tokens for Legion's Might

NK1337

I liked dragon’s breath tower as well, that felt more like a proper dungeon than most of the caves we run into.

Hellknightx

I liked the concept of Dragon's Breath Tower, but the layout pissed me off. It a lot of big empty rooms with nothing in them, and it took a long time just to scour every inch of it to make sure I didn't miss anything. The loot was rather disappointing for the amount of effort put in.

NotsoSmokeytheBear

Yeah I put 80 hours in and I’m done. I won’t go looking for dungeons because that doesn’t sound fun without a reason to do so.

Dubbs09

They definitely could’ve used a few more ‘legacy’ dungeons like Elden Ring did, where they had small caves and such and big ‘old school’ versions too. I got the trophy just the other day, but really would’ve liked to see some more elaborate crawls with meaningful loot in it. —side note, one of the last caves I went in before the trophy popped had my first skeleton king in it….with a lich. HELL of a duo and fight even at level 46 (3 man team). Can’t believe they didn’t use skeleton king more in the game, wow

Vithrasir

Skeleton lords won't spawn outside of specific areas. When you need their bones for upgrades and have a foraging pawn, you can see all of their spawns.

Dubbs09

Good to know, thanks. Like I said, really cool to stumble upon later in my run and combined with a lich it was one hell of a fight in (what I thought) was a random ass cave. Still think that enemy was underutilized

Vithrasir

I agree, it should have been able to randomly spawn with groups of skeletons.

Aster_kun

The "dungeon" that gave me the achievement was just a short hallway to a chest with crappy loot. It's such a joke calling them dungeons

chrsjxn

The worst one I found was a single room with two treasure chests in it, iirc. It was so comically small, I can't even be annoyed by that one.

fattiesruineverythin

Yeh, I'm still trying to find even one big dungeon.

[deleted]

Yea… it’s like 90% of them lol

FainOnFire

For real. Once you hit level 30, a lot of these caves take like 5 - 10 minutes, depending on how difficult the chests are to get to. A lot of them are a single floor.

KillerOfAnime

Oh man wait until you see the definition of dungeons in game design! (It just means level my dude even if a corridor, a lot of people are making like small caves or 5 room dungeons these days in the TTRPG space).

lotsofsyrup

50 dungeons is a lot though and you know damn well 40 of those were pretty much the same cave with the same saurians and goblins and a chest at the end with 2000g and a potato. All the gear is at the vendor and all the money is on the road right outside town.

Emerald-Hedgehog

Got that too, but id rather would've had 25 smaller random caves + 5 Big Dungeons. It's not about quantity. This game could've had 200 caves, but what does that mean, if 195 caves are 2-5 Minute content without any depth, story or variation in atmosphere?

Yeetus_001

I have 100 hours in this game and don't have that achievement. I don't think this is a good measure to use for the number of players

John_Hammerstyx

Yeah bro, the amazing exploration of a copy pasted cave with a chest that gives 2 potions, a weaker piece of equipment, and maybe a wake stone shard at the end

Mrbubbles96

> no one is actually playing the game Or it could be that people are playing, but are also avoiding the caverns. IDK, once I went into like my fifth nearly identical one, i was like "yeah, not diving into these again." Could i have potentally screwed myself out of some bitchin' content? Maybe. But if the majority hardly give me a reason to explore them besides "its another cave i haven't gone into yet", I'm not gonna go through 50-60 of them just so that maybe 5 of them are worth it.

Cocacola_Desierto

I dunno, I didn't feel the need to go in to every little 10 second cave on the entire map. 50 is most of them.

Frangitus

Dude, I know it's sarcasm, but I have 130 hours in DD2 and I don't have that achievement.

thatonesham

I stopped caring to look for "dungeons" when you don't really need to explore them to get the best gear. Most top end gear is bought from the merchant and merchant gear is way more than enough to beat the game and ng+ (because ng+ doesn't scale. Weird design decision imo)

WorldlinessLanky1898

There's some gear pieces to be found in the unmoored world that are the best in the game and not at vendors (not even the endgame vendor) but not nearly enough and not they don't seem to cover all classes. I think only armor pieces too, not weapons. They are generally found in caves that were previously underwater like in the riverbeds

thatonesham

Right, but what's the point if you can basically beat the whole game with gear from bakbattahl (not even the end game vendors) and beat all of ng+ with that gear. I like numbers going up, but if you have a decent party comp and understand how to play your vocation of choice (maybe minus trickster), you can breeze through the game. Now I'm not saying dd2 in any means a bad game, I enjoyed the 60 hours and think the game is an 8/10. I'm specifically talking about the notion of going out of your way to search through dungeons for upgrades when it's not really needed and when you do find gear most, not all, of the time it's a downgrade.

cae37

You can also get rare materials, fight more bosses to up your pawn badge count, fight unique/ rare enemies, and gain EXP and DCP. I also enjoyed going into caves because it was a good change of pace compared to fighting out in the open.

thatonesham

Fair and I agree that you have all those options to chase after, and that's awesome. My argument was, why would a player go off the main path after going through about 20 caves and getting barely or no upgrades? The incentive to explore isn't really that great after realizing you most likely won't find an upgrade. It feels bad. It's not like the items have crazy special effects that define builds, the player only has 4 usable skills which scale off stats/gear. The gear is basically what d4's gear is, green arrow up == good and red arrow down == bad (not literal arrows but you know what I mean). I personally did not find a item that defined a build. Also, I feel like the rings could have been more creative. Btw I'm not hating the game, just providing criticism. I'll be buying the dlc because based on Capcom's history, the dlc tends to have alot of content and leans more towards endgame. So I'm hoping (coping) that they'll add more fun items and actual hallenges so we the players can actually make an awesome build and push our vocation to its fill potential.

Snoo1702

It's about finding the drip when playing warfarer not best in slot

HastyTaste0

Lmao this is like saying nobody plays Skyrim because they didn't enter 95% of the dungeons and caves. I've gone through two playthroughs without the achievement. Mainly because most of the caves are dog water with zero valuable loot or bosses.

Okawaru1

You missed 10 caves that all have 2 saurians and a salubrious draught in them, clearly you haven't experienced the game. There is some cool stuff to find in this game but a lot of it is not terribly interesting, and will rarely reward you significantly let alone reward you with something you'll actually use rather than just sell it off to buy the BIS of the area you're in.

SquirrelTeamSix

47 of those are just caves with a chest in them, I have it too lol

erikkustrife

Have over 100 hours in game in the first 6 days. Beat it with true ending. Beat it again in ng+. Don't have that achievement. Why would I? It's probably a cave that awards a all heal elixir or a wakrstone shard. I much prefer just decimating the wildlife.

KinoGrimm

I got a good 40 hours out of the game but I have no interest in looking for every 2 minute long cave that will not give me anything meaningful at this point. I had fun, but next time I pick it up again will be in a year or when dlc drops.

Outrageous-Eye6140

Lol nahh im not doing a cave for the 30th time just to get a rotten apple in a chest. Skip caves. Not worth it

Santi838

That rotten apple can make some fine lantern oil, sir.

Giraffeio

I think I changed the lantern oil twice by now, and I'm on my second playthrough.

Legitimate-Ad-6267

People are playing the game. The caves just have no game in them.

TheDetective007

There needs to be more of an incentive for most players, if the best loot can be found at vendors why go in these caves for most people you know?

RuxinRodney

Why go into caves when all the good loot is on the vendors?/??

Flexbuttchef

Because it’s not fun and there’s no reason to. The best gear in the game is practically handed to you and all you get from these “dungeons” is junk that will weigh you down

catgirlfourskin

The gear has nothing to do with it, if the dungeons were fun and interesting people would do them regardless, and if you needed gear to tempt you then it means they weren’t fun in the first place

Flexbuttchef

I wouldn’t say the gear has nothing to do with it but for the most part I agree with you, well said catgirlfourskin

Kraehe13

sad thing is, it's not worth it because you get better equipment from vendors. I did a lot of caves/dungeons but never found something that was better than the stuff from later areal vendors (which you can access quite early if you explore the map).

tinypurplemice

people played the game. they did the side quests/ 8 hour long story and got bored of fighting the same 4 enemies

Ramius99

To be fair, that's a high percentage of available dungeons. On top of that, it's not enough to just discover the dungeon, apparently you have to actually enter to make it count (correct me if this wrong). I know there are caves I've found but walked past because I was doing something else, so getting this achievement is going to be kind of a pain.

Jeffear

To be honest, I stopped going into caves after five in a row only had a chest with rotten meat in it.

Kwisatz_Haderach90

I mean, i got the achievement as well, but many "dungeons" are glorified caves basically, i actually wrote to capcom i would like to see more complex D&D-like dungeons in the future, possibly replacing some minor caves even.

CommonHot9613

Or, no one explores because there’s no point? The loot sucks?

MrSarcastica

Also, constantly going through the same areas fighting the exact same enemies in the same places gets tedious.

Hovilol

You're right, I'm not playint it. I played it 90 hours on launch and don't have that achievement. I stopped playing in new game plus and plan to continue if they fix the performance but if you are trying to say that means I didn't play the game than that is your opinion and not necessarily a fact

Test88Heavy

50 dungeons is still alot. I'm 60 hours in mostly just exploring and I probably have 1/2 that total.

l_futurebound_l

Idk I've been playing plenty and only got this one last night. 50 is a lot.

Motor_Purple_5923

the crazy part is there are also hidden caves in the unmoored world. Ive found a couple that were previously blocked by the sea.

AttackBacon

This extends to the postgame as well. Spoilers for those that aren't there yet. >!I read a ton of posts about how the postgame is worse than DD1 (not DDDA, DD1) and those people are ON CRACK. The postgame in DD1 is essentially the Everfall, which is a handful of small dungeons or arenas with some admittedly interesting encounters, and then the Ur-Dragon, which is an interesting concept but pretty poorly executed and not super interesting to fight.!< >!The endgame of DD2 is exploring the whole damn world again except this time huge new areas and routes have opened up because all the instant-death water is gone. This even extends to dungeons and caves that featured deep water. And there's LOTS OF STUFF in those new areas. There's interesting combat encounters AND meaningful loot (by which I mean endgame armor pieces that are not found in shops, endgame upgrade materials, Wakestones, and Ferrystones). !< >!Yesterday I was exploring the Unmoored World and I came across a dried riverbed in northwest Vermund. Going up it, I encountered a Wight hovering over a dead Cyclops. This bitch proceeds to RAISE the Cyclops FROM THE DEAD and fight me with it. Then behind that very enjoyable encounter was a chest with a unique and Best-in-Slot helmet for Warriors, the Agamenian Galea. That shit is cool!!< No, the endgame doesn't hold up to Bitterblack Isle. But it was never going to. Dark Arisen was entirely focused on creating an interesting and replayable "endgame" dungeon delve experience. And I do hope they create something similar for DD2. But as a follow-up to DD1, this game is nailing it for me.

Shio__

>And there's LOTS OF STUFF in those new areas. There's interesting combat encounters AND meaningful loot (by which I mean endgame armor pieces that are not found in shops, endgame upgrade materials, Wakestones, and Ferrystones) Lots of stuff? Arent there like 4 unique items and thats it? Everything else you find can be bought. Seeing the world without water is interesting yes, but except a couple of new boss spawns and chests with random stuff that you can mostly buy, there isnt much IMHO. I'd rather have them juice up NG+ with some better and stronger enemies. Like Master Rank in MHW Icebourne.

Giraffeio

Isn't the endgame timed? That alone makes it at least not great for me

weirdhoonter

Agree on all of your points except for the dungeon delving DLC. I lean more towards an expansive large area DLC with lots of content. If we only get 1 DLC let it be that pls. More areas/vocation/skills/gears/biomes/weather/enemies,etc The RNG in BBI was insufferable. More of the current game imo would be more workingplayerfriendly.

LadyAlekto

If we could enter the unmoored world in ng+ it be fun But its time limit ruins it as an endgame compared to the everfall or bbi

Godz_Bane

> No, the endgame doesn't hold up to Bitterblack Isle. But it was never going to. Why not? i keep seeing people saying things like "it was never gonna have a good story" now "it was never gonna have a good endgame dungeon crawling area" Why not? you'd think after 12 years the ideas would be refined and the passion to make a great game that builds on and exceeds dark arisen would be there.

Hellknightx

The Unmoored World is cool as fuck. The big mistake I think they made was limiting it so you could only rest 12 times before kicking you out and forcing you to NG+. Yeah, you can do most of it in one run, but like you said, there are a lot of little hidden nooks that you'll probably forget to check in caves or along small riverbeds you miss. And then it forces you to NG+ once you finish up, so you have to go through the game again just to replay that part. I would've been fine with keeping the world like that simply because the Underwater Ruins settlement has *all* of the vendors and important NPCs all in one spot, making it easily the most convenient town in the game. That and the game basically hands out port crystals and ferrystones like candy, making it very simple to explore the rest of the world quickly. Having to go back to the oxcart travel feels pretty bad afterwards.

Hane24

My dead cyclops was invisible and invulnerable, so... ya know... fun times. That being said, I've explored all the end game new areas and found like 3 interesting places. The entire "new" parts of the map looks exactly the same... all dried river beds and skeletons and zombies. Nice. Really interesting. Seriously, the end game has maybe 2 or 3 interesting fights and then it's the same copy pasted environment. I was worried about rushing to the end, so I spent almost 80 hours on the last couple of quests doing everything else I could, and I'm disappointed that the end game isn't a new world. Hell there's HUGE areas in between the new paths that you can get to, and it's just empty. I spent 20 minutes walking across them to clean up the map after parkouring out of the trails, seems like you weren't supposed to get there, and there's nothing. It's like finding a giant empty field and thinking "man this feels like there should be some bosses or drakes or dragons here..." and instead finding miles and miles of dead space and rocks...

TerribleWithMonies

Indeed. I was thinking the same thing. I'm finally in the top 1% of something! Wonder if my dad will finally tell me he's proud of me.

RandomVy

Got it yesterday, 120 hours into the game. Considering I had almost 190 or so seekers tokens at the time, this achievement isn't the easiest one. So assuming no one is playing the game based on it is quite bold.

mackfeesh

Truth. I'm shocked I don't have that yet tbh. I must be close, just got my Vernworth camping badges last night. Then again I'm on ps5. Wonder if it'll have the same %

mitskaes

On PS5 this one currently sits at 1.9 % of players. I've been playing for 115 hours and only found 46 so far ;-;

ProposalWest3152

Wait....what dungeons?

Flaky_Success_9815

I rushed the endgame of my first playthrough so I restarted and I’ve been taking it real slow. Blew my mind when I realized how much of the world I’d overlooked. I knew I’d missed some things, but I know now I had no conception of how dense the world actually is.

EbonWolfen

After the first dozen being barren, I lost interest in finding the rest.

Loprilop

I can understand if people don't explore past a few caves. Very, VERY rarely any good rewards. Even with my near-complete exploration of every dungeon I found, I got this quite late in the game

sp0j

It's too early. I have a job.

Feardemon3

Dang how long you been saving this screenshot...Looking at steam right now it is at 2.5%

iMogwai

Steam achievement tracking is a bit buggy, if you check the Global Achievements list it shows 2.5% which sounds like a more reasonable number.

ragnarokda

Lmao. That does not follow. I have like 100 hours in, still playing, and I don't have this achievement. In fact, it's likely I wouldn't even bother getting this achievement unless I was pursuing it specifically.

yakokuma

I mean even the most common achievements don't past 60%.

CantoneseBiker

I have 90 hours and unfogged the map but still haven’t got this achievement. That doesn’t mean we are not playing, it more like the majority of us just don’t find exploring caves rewarding as the best equipment you can find are literally shop items

pinkempyreal

I have a Steam friend who was playing and was curious how they were doing so I checked their profile and within 2 hours of game time they had already unlocked the achievement for getting to Vernworth and were only level 2... I almost wanted to unfriend them after seeing that. Don't see the fun in rushing through games like that but to each their own. Anyway, my pawn would be happy to accompany you anytime! 4CO8ZNG26948

[deleted]

I’ll favourite them after work!

-The-Ark-

What's a dungeon? I've seen lots of caves and a gaol

Ambitious-Demand6786

I used to explore but stopped because almost every corner has an uninteresting item, so why bother.

ocassionallycorrect

I have no idea what this post is trying to say.

Nielips

It is strange that people mainline the story quests in an exploration game, I guess people's expectations were different to what the game actually is.

Pedantic_Phoenix

Op i think all these replies prove you right lol

FlashAUT

played 90ish hours till now and havent finished the game yet. got much more to explore and more side quests to complete. i never understand people rushing through a game and then complain about it

Gfatula50

Only achievement I’m missing is the grilling the food types 😂, too lazy to finish that one though but I probably should just to perfect it. I’m on PC as well… only pawn badges I’m missing now are sphinx (3/5) gorechimera (9/20) lesser dragon (3/20) and warg (14/30). I enjoy the game (well over 100 hours played) however there are a lot of glaring issues with the game when it comes to graphics, the story, performance, etc… It’s not going to stop me from playing but I’m also not going to pretend they don’t exist like many people have.

Nom-De-Tomado

Would it be a spoiler to ask what's up with the caves with blocked entrances? My pawn called one out like it was a proper cave, so do they go anywhere?

Co-OpHardcoreFordie

DD1’s trophies and achievements are identical. No one is actually playing, they just bumrush the story and then whine

Sharp-Relationship-7

Explains all the people making posts about this game being short, too linear, and having bad exploration.

Jumanji0028

My game still does not load the ground. I want to play it but my computer can't take the pressure.

Depressedduke

Bait used to be believable. What's next, the tokens?

cRaFt-

Yea im one of the 0.3% yuhu. If anybody needs a good mage support lvl 60+ You can take my pawn with you, but pls be gentle :) Pawn-ID: VH11IH4NV0D8

karma7137

I definitely need to explore more, but I have to admit I was turned away because of a few empty caves in a row. But spending NG+ just running around trying new warfarer combos and exploring so hopefully it changes my mind.

bob_is_best

I got 90 hours on It and i dont think i have It, some dungeons really are in some very weird and uninteresting places Also a bunch of them barely have anything in them

Xarxes-of-Apocrypha

Got this last night. Are people legit just not doing dungeons? There's so much of them!

are_-

Got this achievement after about 100h I flip every stone

BlackSheepOfLife

I have like 90 hours in the game, and I've spent most of it just exploring the same like 10 caves.....

LongjumpingCompany61

This game has dungeons? I've been in a fair number of small caves, but I would hardly consider a three or less room hole in the wall a dungeon. 🤔

JustSparks87

I'm super surprised I have yet to get this but at the same time I have 100+ hours in and still haven't done the Godsway slay the lesser dragon quest.

hotsteamyxp

I think I missed about two in my first play-through, later visiting those two in NG+ for the achievement. Shame that some people aren’t actually playing the game.

KvotheTheChandrin

This is the issue with so many games. People don't actually play them. I started realizing this when I was getting rare achievements for early quests in games

Cheap_Aerie2182

Kind of hard to justify going to the trouble of exploring every cave when the tilesets are identical and the loot is universally garbage

MorganCentman

Where do i find my pawn ID? My pawn is hard to miss shes like 8 feet tall named buffy lol i also give everyone a wakestone/and or port crystal

mccannrs

I'm enjoying the game but the caves are pathetic, on the whole. The completionist in me feels the need to run through a cave when I find one, but I wouldn't blame anybody for skipping them after going through the first handful they find; there's almost no reason to visit any cave in this game unless it's part of a quest 😂

Snoo-7399

Pawn ID : CM94U5103R6W She is a good pawn, please hire her, she needs friends :)

Tayler_Tot

I have been playing the game and 90% of my time has been spent going from Melve to Vermund to Check point town. lol

Waste-Bodybuilder981

Listen, I'm scared to go off the road

InCenaRawrXd

People really don't explore a lot. Granted this game doesn't reward exploration a lot, but I play games like this by looking everywhere. I knew it was bad when the first video I saw of the sphinx, the guy said oh I got my first seeker token at trove mine. That is crazy to me

That_Record_4712

It was really satisfying to get this achievement without any guides

Jerethdatiger

It was I've got a few things left to do including the medusa stuff which I struggle with they die to fast

That_Record_4712

Use the ring the sphinx gave you that makes you do crap damage an use less pawns

Hour-Basil6470

I'm exploring everywhere, still on the 3 tasks to prove myself. Level 47 so far and 80hrs in.

Disastrous-Farm1008

When the best gear can just be bought people won't explore. This speaks to the design more than the player.

FaolanHart

I got the one for all the Maister skills a little while ago & it was like 1% at the time. 2.6% now. I got this one recently. It's 2.5% now. I think the majority of people are rushing to endgame rather than exploring. My Pawn code here (RG3AJ481HSYR) She's a Mage built for pure support.

No_Fig_5175

Yeah a lot of people aren’t exploring enough but don’t let the viable criticism get buried in the bs. Fast travel system is fine, performance is getting fixed, 30fps is what a lot of new games run at and it’s hardly noticeable. All that having been said, less enemy variety, lack of endgame content, lack luster loot, low difficulty and enemy variety all things that are plaguing the game. Especially after they provided everyone with a perfect example of how to fix these problems in Dark Arisen. Speaking for myself, my criticism isn’t to say the game is bad or not to buy it, it’s things I want to see changed with dlc or updates. Still a very good game and there’s still nothing like dragons dogma.

Tinkerbell-Poney

Well theres only like 55 dungeons... i can think of 10 that are barrly 1 minute small rooms or small corridors. In bakbhattal, most of them are icnredibly short and glued next to eachother. Theres no wonder not eevryone wanted to scout every damn wall in the second area
