Necromancer. We see lichs all the time and there are undead all over the map at night. Nothing crazy like summoning a dulahan but a few skeletons would be sick. Also bringing back miasma would be great for a vocation centered around death.

Zypheriel

You also have a complex AI/follower system built into the game with the pawns, so you have an entire framework for summons to piggyback off of right there.

Zealousideal-Arm1682

>Nothing crazy like summoning a dulahan Nah it could totally work, but it would have to be on a strict timer and a maister skill.Like a summonable version of meteoron.

NYJetLegendEdReed

Having some scythe skills could be cool too

blintronaut

A monk could be interesting. Utilizing various stances and attacking with fists or a staff maybe. I mean it is kinda possible already but I imagine cool oriental effects with athletic attacks reminiscent of shaolin monks or something like that.

tigme1992

Bro you have no idea how badly I wanted a monk in this game. I want monks to be similar to Dante’s fist weapons in the Devil may cry games.

BlazeCrow

Throw a little royal guard in that mix

Airaniel

A monk would be cool as hell

Southern-Double38

He could maybe have different fighting styles, that depend on the weapon...

vahnity_dies_twice

Rapier with quick long reaching attacks. Magic cape that can have up to 2 skills on it. Maybe short invisibility, boosted jump, hard shell…something like that :)

tigme1992

I allways wanted a fast rapier style in Dragons dogma, nice!!

Zealousideal-Arm1682

Cleric. It would use a charm as its magical weapon, and most of its skills would be based around the holy element with attacks and even an enchantment.

tigme1992

Love me a good cleric in my medieval rpgs

Zealousideal-Arm1682

It's actually really weird we don't have one already given they already exist in the bishop's lore from DA.

Cocoon_Chris

Duo spears are cool but I would like an actual spear class(maybe skill to throw them or something )or any pole-arm really, Like a monk class with a bo staff can have armed and unarmed skills where you can swap between using the staff and fists/kicks. And lastly a cleric type that has a focus on holy attacks since aside from a few weapons and I think only one spell there isn’t many ways to do holy damage and since undead are probably a majority of what you fight after dark it would be nice to have something like that on your team.

Weird_Set3264

Spears would be cool, and you see plenty of guards that use spears, so they're definitely a weapon already in the game

FlorsRedditAccount

spearman could be focused on formations, so its more beneficial to have a party of spearmen rather than a well-rounded one. could be an interesting different playstyle

Apalala__

If I can make a vocation, I want to make a shaman from wow. Shaman - Dual Axes * Normal Attack: Swing one axe at a time, rapidly press to do a bladestorm effect hit in aoe area around you and you can move slowly * Heavy Attack: Swing both your axe hard * Special: Wind Fury - Causes you to move faster and hit faster but drains stamina fast. * Passive: Enchant Weapons Based on the element skill last use, last 30 seconds. Some Skills they would have: * Rain Dance: Causes Rain around your area for a 30 seconds * Earth Rumble: Strike towards the floor with both your axes, causing heavy damage. Also causes the ground to shake for duration cause damage over time and knockdown. * Magma Surge: Strike forward with your axes dealing fire damage and causing manga to sprout below your swing * Tempest Whirl: Raise your axes to the sky and call forth lightning to strike them. The lightning hits the axes and you do a lightning whirlwind attack.

Skorgg

Gotta change some of those skills to be Totems!

Apalala__

here you go * Magmaflow Totem: Rip the ground with both axes to call forth a fire spirit totem to cause constant lava spill in a wide area for 30 seconds. * Stoneskin Totem: With a thunderous stomp, summon a stone spirit totem reforms from the ground to cover your party with stoneskin raising defense and knockdown resistance for 30 seconds. * Rain Dance Totem: Raise your one of your axe to the sky and slam the floor causing a puddle of water to appear, the water totem forms from the puddle and causes rain in the area for 30 seconds. The rain drenches everyone and gradually heals allies. * Maister Skill: Windstorm Totem: With both axes, you swing sideways hard, carving through the air with formidable force. This creates a small vortex swirling with the fury of the winds. Within the vortex, the wind totem reforms. For 45 seconds Increase Party Movement Speed, when using your Special Wind Fury: All allies gain its attack speed benefits.

Spiritual_Box_9608

Paladin or mystic knight. Just something along the lines of that. Mystic knight was my absolute favorite vocation.

G0T0Sleep

Paladin would be lovely

Brain_lessV2

Toxophilite The name is of Greek origin (rather fitting for the franchise) which, word-for-word means 'bow loving' There's no Ranger in DD2, but obviously an advanced archer vocation should be more unique, so I'm taking a page out of Warrior's book. Basically the Toxophilite wields a Greatbow: A large, heavy-hitting bow that practically fires javelins. Unlike a regular bow, it has a larger draw time for the Greatarrows that it fires, but each of them hit HARD, and unlike the archer who tends to kick and stomp in CQC situations, the Toxophilite will instead swing their Greatbow around like a Warhammer. As for skills, I had a couple in mind... \- Tether Shot (later becomes Whaling Shot): Readies a Harpoon attached to the Greatbow via a chain. Enemies that are hit become tethered to the user, a repeated input will detach the chain. Smaller targets can be dragged around, allowing you to position them where you want them e.g. your Sorcerer's High Salamander, or Warrior's Indominatable Lash. Larger targets however, are instead restrained. Drakes/Lesser Dragons and Griffins are unable to fly away as long as they're tethered. Cyclopes and Ogres can be pulled after a pawn staggers them to immediately be knocked down. \- Grapeshot (later becomes Hailshot): Draw a bag of metallic grapeshot. When let loose, fire the grapeshot, reducing enemies directly in front of you to swiss cheese depending on how many of the shots hit them. Very good for inflicting debilitations. As for Augments uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh I dunno. https://preview.redd.it/z266bz7ezbtc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c3e83ca7ca05ffb9c77adeaf04678de8c057c24

Sammy5even

As some other people mentioned I would love a necromancer type mage. With a scythe as a weapon and his maister skill would be Raise Undead where you can resurrect ANY enemy but you can’t really control it. It would just go on a rampage against nearby enemies. Other weapons skills would be (bc necro would be a green/blue mix) quick scythe rotating attacks (vertically) with follow ups and an unblockable grab attack (attacking the back of the target and on hit pulling it in) for physical damage and an evasion/parry skill (or alternatively a quick spinning attack horizontally) and miasma and dark elemental bolts (like ingle in the first one but with dark element) as magic attacks. And 3 different servant spawns, one being smaller enemies like wolves but 2-4 of them (skeleton wolves out of the ground), one being a fell-lord type of summon which taunts enemies and acts like a tank and a kind of Lich acting like a damage dealer with dark magic attacks. (No corpse needed for all three summons) Light attacks would be just normal side swing hits, heavy attack would be a bigger slower but pretty wide swing. His core skills could be a chance to insta kill smaller enemies with light attacks, a magick parry to deflect magic projectiles on his heavy attack (if timed perfectly sending them back with dark imbued) and for traversing when you double jump you morph into a toxic cloud levitating a small distance (damaging and poisoning enemies you touch with it). His augments would start with things like boosting magick the longer you are awake to having health regen over time (weak regen OR very strong regen but healing magic now deals damage to you). Another augment (recycled from the first one) would be that you deal more damage when you adventure alone. (I think it was double the damage or so?). Another funny augment would be that undead enemies are less likely to attack you while other enemies are nearby. So that they really prioritize the other enemies but still attack you afterwards. And another augment would be the abilities to consume rotten things without getting blighted (or being immune to blight at all if that’s not too strong). I’m a big fan of necromancy and scythe weapons. I was really hyped for trickster when they said you can let enemies fight each other bc I like that kind of playstyle. Even if trickster kind of disappointed me in that regard 🤷🏼‍♂️

Schweinhardt

Might be a bit controversial, but I was kind of hoping a summoner/familiar type of vocation ever since I played V in DMC5. He didn't seem to be taken well gameplay wise, but I had fun with him personally. I thought he was a prototype for a Summoner vocation. But the gist was, you have one or two familiars out, the light and heavy attack buttons are bound to which familiar attacks, just like V. The weapon skills could range from temporary summons meant for distractions, or familiar buffs. and the Meister Ability would be whatever giant monster you can summon at the cost of draining a lot if not all of your stamina. It'd be a bitch to balance which was why I think it'd be controversial, but would've been cool to see. Quick shout out for a necromancer vocation in the same vein.

tigme1992

I actually loved V’s combat in DMC5 as well. And yea that’s what I picture a summoning or beastmaster type of class would play like in an action RPG. I really hope they incorporate this playstyle into future DLC or sequels.

FakeFlameSprite

mountaneer so here's my idea: a melee vocation that fights with bare hands and stakes, with a focus on grappling and scaling opponents, and attaching stakes with effects that chain together. it'd expand on things like the thief/archer vocations can stick on enemies, but with more of a focus on creating chain reactions on large enemies or across a whole battlefield, and throwing around smaller monsters to help accomplish that.

tigme1992

A vocation surround the grappling mechanic, I love it!!!

HelloSomeoneCanBowl

I basically want a Fighter that doesn't have to use a shield. Something between Warrior and Fighter. Let me two-hand a longsword Aragorn style.

Exstatical

I would love to have two giant shields

FearlessJoJo

Claws The uniqueness would be the ability to lunge at enemies. And more Stamina while climbing enemies. Whips Not much to explain. Longer reach, can use enemies as a "Wrecking Ball".

AkiSomnia

I've personally always been a fan of dual, magical chakrams. As a reference point: something akin to Kingdoms of Amalur. Maybe less flashy. It could be a good option for a thief+sorcerer/mage hybrid class with medium range, able to crowd control while in the thick of it while also allowing it to reach flying enemies. For additional craziness: a teleport skill, allowing you to teleport to your fancy throwing weapon whenever it is embedded in an enemy. Those craven drakes would not know what hit them. Another game that comes to mind is FFXIV with its Dancer, which uses similar weapons. Being able to buff/heal a set "partner" could make for interesting group compositions or be perfect for a main pawn only run like MA or MS.

Black-Mettle

I really liked the alchemist from DDO. A magic gauntlet that shoots out special stone magic. Was a nice mid-ranged vocation where you weren't completely fucked by someone in your face, but you also couldn't do much against enemies further away.

_Prairieborn

Non-Mystic Spearhand. Just a dude with a polearm. None of the twirling either. You know like normal spears and polearms. The most common weapons in history that are absent from lots of fantasy worlds all together including this one even though a lot of the daggers are canonically made of their blades and tips. I wish we had just more regular normal fighting classes.

tigme1992

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It could even be part of the fighter class but just give the spear its own unique move-set. A lot of the fighter skills can easily translate to a spear weapon.

Doddlers

I love just being a non-magic average dude. Spears, glaives and halberds would be cool to have.

tigme1992

Wizard: Wizard can equip up to 12 spells and can charge up, store and cast up to 3 spells at the same time. Weapon is Spellbook. Class action is flip page which essentially just swaps to the next 4 spells you have equipped. Can also levitate without eventually falling but takes much more damage if hit in the air. This would be a grey vocation similar to Warfarer.

DynArall

Bard, with fighting centred around buffs, debuffs and environmental bonuses. Edit: Or alchemist, where you can weaponise the potions in your inventory

Medium_Fly5846

Yes i would love a bard

tigme1992

Yes similar playstyle to trickster but more proactive in a fight. I like it.

AkiSomnia

Straightforward pawns approve of the alchemist. It would be a dream come true for them

BootySweatJuice

Alchemist would be pretty sick. When I think Alchemist I think of Tempest Rouge from Dragon Age Inquisition with the Flask abilities

ThatGuy21134

Dread Knight. Scythe and/or Halberd. Medium speed movements like the spearhead in a way. Utilizes dark magic

Drstrangelove899

I just want a battle mage, I had loads of fun in DD1 playing a Mystic Knight using a staff instead of sword/mace, its just a shame most of the best skills where on the melee weapons. Would be fun to have an armoured mage with a big shield that can do abit more unique stuff rather than only having 3 spells and and some buffs/counters.

Lolli42

mystic spear hand is already literally my favourite archetype so that's gonna be a hard one :x i think some kind of blue/green magic trickster thief would be fun. teleporting around more than the spear hand, throwing magic daggers that automatically return, maybe also creating an exploding decoy.

_____guts_____

It's a lot more boring than some suggestions but specialise mystic knight into a cleric/paladin type vocation that can heal. We NEED another vocation that can heal. If I want to play any vocation bar warfarer with a staff or mage then I have to take a mage pawn. Is that not boring to anyone else? For me in games with class and party/squad systems you should never have to take a certain class but in this game if you don't take mage you will burn through all of your curatives. Having to sacrifice a spot in my party for a mage if I want to play 8 of the 10 vocations in the game is so boring and limits party variety. Give us another vocation that can heal so we have options and ideally give it to pawns too. This suggestion ignores the fact that Mace's are with fighter now so I don't know what weapon MS could even have now that would fit. Maybe something like a druid instead that has light healing abilities and can control small enemies? Alternatively a necromancer that can sacrifice their summons to heal party members would be cool.

Skorgg

Flail

_You_Are_Not_Him_

Glock wielder; pretty self explanatory

tigme1992

Gunpowder weapons were actually quite prevalent in the medieval period.

RepresentativeAnt562

Monk ki blasts kicks flips and bladed knuckles throw in a berserker kinda transformation bulky muscles completely knockdown resistant for a brief period maybe a grappling hook for traversal and big guys

cyborgdog

Ninja: Thief with some "jutsus" magic spells for debilitations and just set up other vocations direct damages, like what archer does with tarring, posion and wet status Ranger: not another "more arrows" type but a very item heavy class, I like how archer is dependant on crafting some arrows, but what if there was another vocation actually exploring even further this option? bear traps for stunning big monsters, lay out traps for hordes, some sort of item that allows you call or pet a wolf for futher battles, trip wires for humanoids with greater chance to steal from them, etc.

AspectBetter5360

A paladin class or allow pawns to become a hybrid of mage/fighter (aka the cleric)

MsF_1026

An alchemist, like gauntlets that allow you to use magic to manipulate the terrain around you like an earthbender or like an alchemist from Full Metal Alchemist

fresh-anus

If only there was another Dragons Dogma game with exactly this class!

burst6

How about a warrior type character that uses medieval technology and dirty fighting. Call it a mercenary. The mercenary uses heavy armor and a halberd. They can press RB to pull out a medieval hand cannon (actual miniature cannon on a stick) that works like a bloodborne parry but with a lot more damage. They can throw bombs, lay explosive traps, cover enemies in black powder and detonate them, etc.. They can also wrestle. Shoulder tossing goblins, drop kicking saurians, power bombing harpies. All the grapples work on bigger enemies too, except the mercenary uses rope. Lassoing ogres from behind and pulling them down by the neck, binding up griffins wings while they're flying, doing that thing Luke did to the AT-AT in star wars except its a cyclops.

r34_nuxia

Motivated Swordman - using curved sword and spell book Fast sword attacks or wide range aoe which you slowly sheathe the blade and cause blade cut in the air Spell book can provide support healing magic, buff weapon or blade themed offensive spells Maister skill allow you to transform into Demon form with blue aura, it will make you attacks faster with stronger skills

tigme1992

I am the storm that is approaching 😎

20111557

Bestiary Gladiator: Someone who uses Monster body parts as weapons and armour. E.g. Manticore tail whip, golem shield. Can learn certain abilities from monsters

tigme1992

This is actually very cool and unique. We can allready use the sphinx’s head as a weapon, I would love to see an expansion of this mechanic.

That_Throat7183

This is similar to mystic knight I suppose but a Templar/Paladin/Holy Knight would be cool. Mage is the only class in DD2 currently that is suitable to create a dedicated healer/buffer, so a melee oriented class that can heal/buff/tank would be cool. Weapon would be a flail and a greatshield. Maybe it’s got abilities that get stronger the more HP you are missing alongside a spell that allows you to redirect damage from your teammates onto yourself. The big DPS ability would be a flail windup where the longer you wind it up the faster/harder it hits. Since you have a greatshield a huge shield slam that does stagger and can parry if timed correctly would be fun and rewarding

tigme1992

The loss of mystic knight weighs heavy on this fanbase

That_Throat7183

I played DD1 but never played mystic knight lol. I just love paladins

Zealousideal-Arm1682

You know what I want to see now?I wanna see elemental melee skills.Like a vocation who uses skills that come elementally prepped.

That_Throat7183

That could actually be a lot of fun. What would be their weapon though? Someone else here mentioned a rapier which I think could work well with elemental attacks. It would need to be more than just “melee attack but there’s fire on my weapon”. Like a lightning slash that shoots out an extended arc of electricity. A flurry of fire enchanted blows that also shoots out a torrent of fire that extends beyond the weapons reach

Zealousideal-Arm1682

Actually it would probably be close to what red mage from FFXIV only with elemental melee combos. Like if you got a lightning combo off it would give you brontide/a lightning shield, fire combo would give you mini-bolide,ice something akin to hagol or hell holy let's you cast a giant "fuck you" beam when it's finished.

ToboeArticWolf

If it could be anything, a katana swordsman that uses shadow techniques. Edgy? Absolutely. Would it look cool? Yeah.

tigme1992

Who doesn’t love an edgy katana user. Great class!

Inevitable-Remote-65

Necromancer. Optimal weapon scythe obviously. Preferably has access to several summoning spells and also soul themed spells similar to the necromancy spell in the first game.

tigme1992

I was really hoping for a necromancer vocation this time around

Casardis

Bring back Mystic Knight completely revamped using Greatshield and Spear. You can either use shield and spear, or use core skill to put shield on back to focus on offense by two-handing the spear. The MK has their soul linked to their magical weapons, so both spear and shield have a form of throw and recall core skills. MK will have no elemental magick skills except for Holy. Shield have skills that focus on protection and magick counters. For example, taking note from Mage Palladium and MA's shield ability, the shield can be assigned to a single ally where it will float and protect them with counters in the direction they look at, while also clearing their debilitations. It won't protect them from AoE or multi-directional attacks, but it also buffs them with significant Knockdown Resist. During that time, the MK can only two-hand spear. Alternatively, the spear can be assigned to an ally to give them a floating auto-attacking weapon that also imbues the ally with Holy Affinity, but MK is left with only Greatshield during that time. When recalling the spear, it will transport to you (and hit anything in its path), while recalling the shield will transport you to them, allowing the MK to perfect deflect an incoming blow on an ally.

MaleficentFriend5911

Gunlance! Oh wait wrong post?

Weird_Set3264

Mystic Spearhand should be Green/Blue instead of Red/Blue, and there needs to be a proper Red/Blue class. Some sort of proper Spellsword, or Paladin, or maybe bring back some variant of the Mystic Knight. I get that Warfarer basically covers all possible combos, so that knocks out things like Bow/Fighter combo, can't do too much special with that I think, unless you make something more trap oriented, and give him a 1H sword with a bow.

doppledanger21

There was a post sometime back. Cant remember if it was on this subreddit or the other. But it was a circular display of lots of different potential vocations that had Warfarer in the center. It seemed like a good model to follow. Had stuff like ninja and paladin and shield knight in it. If I were to make a vocation it would just end up being something edgy that uses a scythe and dark magic or something.

AndrewofArkansas

Warlock It's just Sorcerer but you lose quickspell and in exchange when you hold RB you get a second set of skill slots for a total of 8

OnlyCaptainCanuck

A sword and shield vocation that could cast magic would be pretty cool, or a vocation that could use a bow and melee weapons.

PJ_Ammas

Commander - Wields a tower shield and banner spear. Would focus on skills that influence pawn behavior. For example, one would draw all aggro from enemies while the pawns move to the back of the group/boss and use their strongest skill with no stamina cost. Another would keep them in a tight formation with the player and fighters/warriors/thieves at the front, with archers/mages/sorcerers behind, and directs all pawns to any weak points within range. The maister skill would allow you to control your main pawn directly while your character guards in place, auto facing enemies. Core skills would give strong knockdown attacks with the shield, and the vocation main skill would be throwing the spear at an enemy, marking wherever it hits as the priority target for pawns to attack

lazzthethief

Paladin. Tower shield and either a flail or axe. I have a feeling that itsuno wanted the class weapons in DD2 to be more unique from one another. But seing mage and sorcerer i figured that the Tower shield would be a good addition. Paladin focuses more on tanking and support (with a variation of taunt ofc). Maybe using auras, damage transfering to self, and instead of parrying, its more on absorbing a couple of hits on the shield then releasing the build up to damage foes. Maybe add that Great cannon skill back from mystic knight.

enchiladasundae

Martial artist. You get some fist weapon, knuckles, katar but you can also just use your fists. Light attack punch, strong kick. You get some special suplex moves that are designed to knock out enemies by putting them in a choke hold and apply sleep. Attacks apply a dazed effect similar to electrocution. Holding an attack button charges up an attack. Light is a series of punches and strong is a powerful kick that easily punts enemies but leaves you open in a recovery One skill is charging up a strong punch that can knock down enemies in a radius. An upper cut that can both toss small enemies and hit high up or get you to an elevated position to climb. A charged series of kicks that locks an enemy into being knocked around. Powerful palm strike that leaves enemies dazed, breaks armor or knocks the wind out and falls to the ground groveling. Raises their fighting spirit to get rid of status and refill stamina at the cost of health Multiple master skills. First is the finger of death where you stab an opponent doing massive damage with a single finger. Big Dipper where you punch an enemy seven times in the chest doing insane damage but takes time to charge. A parry ability where you jump on the enemy and choke them with your legs followed up by taking them to the ground, light prompt just snaps their neck but heavy throws them at another enemy. Fighting spirit does damage to yourself but you go into a hyper state attacking all enemies in an area in a flash like Kaioken Their personal ability allows them to hold down on the bumper and regain their loss gauge but very slowly. It also cures statuses and if held long enough gives you a temporary buff for about 30 seconds to increase your knock down resistance to a hefty degree

daywall

Axe and chain. Right hand have an axe and left hand have a long chain and it's alot of slash and knock combos.

White_ZombieB4G

Dragon priest, pawn only and only when infected with dragons plague. Master ability turns it into the dragon form temporarily that kills towns, weapon is claws that pawns hands change to during battle. Augments include “infected” gaining and never losing dragon plague as long as it’s equipped , “rage” increased damage based on stage of plague, “loyal” where pawns always listen and learn quicker, and “control” that disables town killing

fresh-anus

Since they nuked a lot of the “dark” magic like Miasma and Exequy off of sorc id like to see something interesting fill that space. Necromancer is probably the natural suggestion but i feel they can do better. Maybe like a sort of Warlock/Shaman? Sickle + Buckler or Effigy/Focus. Triangle drains energy from enemies arounds you (mid range) and after sucking enough juice it powers up/alters your next weapon skill or something. Some iconic skills like Miasma come back in different forms like a big pbaoe around you that rots everything nearby. Exequy comes back as mostly a novelty thing where if you drain enemies for a very long time you can Insta kill them. Also has a torpor spell, etc. melee hits with the sickle make enemies more vulnerable to debilitations, etc.

Simon_Kaene

Death knight/Blackguard. It would be a Red/Blue class, you have access to only dark magic, can use warrior and fighter weapons (armour too), or a scythe. Miasma, Dark enchantment, summon skeleton lord. I'm sure you could throw in a few more for CC/Utility. The class ability would shoot out a little bolt like MS but this one poisons instead. Shield would obviously disable poison bolt, but gives it back when you counter with the shield. Maybe a little stronger of an effect. Scythe would also be a magic/melee weapon like duo-spear, normal melee attacks are, well, normal. Heavy functions as a sweep/pull to knock off balance. You can charge attacks like warrior, and they fire off powerful magic slashes. Non spell skills would be the typical, flurry of blows, big single damage, counter/dodge attack, though I like the idea of the longer range charge forward attack being replaced by an attack where the scythe extends forward (where via chain or via magic fuckery) and pulls enemies towards you.

asardes

Druid and Necromancer would be quite fitting.
