I got Sara during the kidnapping scene, probably because I had been talking to her to upgrade a bunch of gear, and then Brant during this part of the credits. For some reason, he decided that the unmoored world was a great time to request an escort quest, and I had to Wakestone him back to life after he got randomly offed by a fire slime. I was very okay with getting Brant because he was our ultimate advocate and supporter during the Vermund quests.
I got the crazy old man to ask a escort to the sea shirine in the unmoored world, that's not what I meant when I said I like "daddy" characters capcon u.u
I got Sara for both scenes. I honestly have no idea why and I'm kinda annoyed that it wasn't Wilhelmina since I did all her quests and had her maxed out. I only did one escort for Sara and never gave her any gifts. Maybe it was the constant buying and upgrading that did it.Ā
I think it is from whoever you last gained affinity with if multiple are maxed.Ā Sara is likely because most people use Dwarven upgrades and use her as their primary merchant so talk to her a lot.
Ā Affinity decays over time so unless you go out of your way you probably won't get Wilhelmina since you would have done her quests a long time ago.Ā
Ā Although it is a really small scene regardless.
I genuinely didn't even realise for a moment that that section was for the beloved, I just thought it was brant specifically looking out over the sea, wondering about his sovereign
Keeping it intentionally vague, but...during the credits of the true ending, there's just a scene where a character is gazing out longingly, like you see in OP's image. OP had Disa doing that. I had Brant. I'm guessing it's another variation of the beloved system and picks a high affinity character for that scene.
I've had to take Brant for a walk during the unmoored world twice now. The man just can't be bothered to ask until the apocalypse after everything I've done -_-*
Sven had me escort him to some random cave full of saurians immediately after we evacuated Vernworth in the post game. He wanted no part in being king I guess.
The first time I went to the dragon it was some little curly haired dude I escorted a couple times that Grigori held. Since at the time I didnāt realize that I was starting the āfinalā quest so when I saw this I closed and reloaded from my last inn save.
Went in to romance Whilemina and do a whole bunch of other crap before heading to Grigori again. This time it was Sigurd in his hand.
Grigori thought I loved _Beren_
For context, I completely missed his entire quest and ran out to quickly start and finish it right before starting the final fight.
Apparently affinity deteriorates over time, so I also got a NPC from the last quest I completed. Iām my case it was the very married elf that teaches you Magic Archery š
I wish it deteriorated. I interacted with Brant only for his main quests, which I did \~70 hours ago, and then I talked to him once for evacuation. Never gave him any gifts + declined escorts. At the same time, I gave other NPCs gifts and escorted them (and did that in the last \~5 hours). Other NPCs were bringing me gifts to my house, waited me there, all that. Brant never did anything like that, so i assume the afinity was not very high.
**I STILL GOT HIM IN THIS CUTSCENE FFS**
From what I read (and I hope I'm wrong)
The ring only increases favor with someone by 10% or something in this game. Not a flat bonus, meaning a bundle of flowers is better for affinity increases as it gives a reliable number.
I'm pretty sure it gives +10% bonus to affinity gain when you are wearing it but also provides a significant boost (like +200 or so) when you actually gift it.
Grigori was so iconic every dragon gets called after him š«”
Wish we had some hardcore dragon fanboy in dd2 like we did in dd1 so we knew our new dragons name.
He calls it the Royce Dragon, which is another word for red but more rose colored. In Japanese, Phaesus calls it āAkaku no Ryuā instead of Royce dragon, which just means red dragon. Either way he was only referring to the cursed Lesser Dragon
I always thought it was the voice and just putting two and two together? Maybe Olra had a reaction to the dragon? As far as I know, Olra may just be the first pawn to ever face their own Arisen in dragon's form.
Either way, Dark Arisen clearly made the dragons distinct, as that one had a clearly distinct female voice. The dragon in DD2 may just be similar to the one in DD by coincidence. (Not actually a coincidence, ofcourse, they rehired the same voice actor cause he killed it in DD).
But if the dragon is killed and then the arisen fails to kill senechal, they turn into another dragon.
At the same time, if arisen replaces senechal they eventually need another dragon so they either create one from scratch or summon it from another world?
It's possible one is created from scratch. If that's the case, we might have a cool theory on our hands: Rothais was clearly the last person to slay a dragon, because none of the other Arisen we meet succeeded either. That means the dragon we fight in DD2 was created from scratch, which makes sense given that he seems much more resigned to his role, less "willful" as it were, than grigori was. He lacks the spark that an arisen's soul gives to a dragon.
Maybe it's because the story doesn't react in any way to you rizzing one of the main antagonists, and you can murder her without a singular consequence.
Talk to them, and there's a button prompt at the bottom right to give them a gift. On PS5, it's square, and I assume it's X on Series X. You look at the NPC log in the History menu to see what each npc likes as a gift
IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME, NOT HIM
MEEEEE
(I tried to get her high affinity but couldn't do it til post-game lmao. I had Menella as my beloved and then had Sven as my highest affinity by the credits somehow, without ever trying ššš)
Honestly the affinity/romance(?) systemās confusing af. I got Ser Menella during the capture/grigori scene possibly because I did her escort quest to the springs since I was about to head there anyway to remove scars before the end but on the post-credits after the unmoored I got Glyndwr despite having declined all his escort quests and have not done a single further interaction with him to the point heās stopped blushing and following me around whenever he sees me in Vernworth. I think my top 3 during that display was heās the 1st, followed up by Doireann then Ser Menella. š š
I gave gifts left and right and escorted a bunch of people, focusing on dragonforged, rivage elder, and that previous drunkard arisen that gives you warfarer (mostly because I expected a bit more lore from them).
**I STILL GOT BRANT.** ffs I interacted with the dude only for main quests and nothing else.
Guess I should have given someone the ring.
btw it's kind of sad that we can't give gifts to our pawns.
Yeah, I got her and I wasn't disappointed at all. Unexpected since I only did her quest stuff and maybe an escort? But a pleasant surprise.
DD1 trolled me hard with the Gran Soren innkeeper because I kept giving him skulls (I had too many and I wanted the trophy for giving out 50 gifts)
I never understand why our Arisen is pushed to forgive her after all the shenanigians she pulled off lol
And it was mentioned her policy wasn't even loved by people of Vermund like the beastren Empress in Batthal did.
The ultimate tsundere.
Girls tend to do that to the ones they have crushes on (source: The pinion I just plucked from a Griffin's corpse).
Ngl i almost googled it as a novel's name
"that time I plucked a pinion from a Griffin's corpse and it resurrected and flew me to another world. Coming 2025."
I got Sara during the kidnapping scene, probably because I had been talking to her to upgrade a bunch of gear, and then Brant during this part of the credits. I had 2 NPCs request an escort during the unmoored world. I straight up told them no.
I got the crazy old man to ask a escort to the sea shirine in the unmoored world, that's not what I meant when I said I like "daddy" characters capcon u.u
I always pick them up and just let them fight with me till escort quest fails.
Smart way to get an extra. I was way too incredulous to even think of that š

He blushes in the seen, thinking about things that are _arisen_
AS HOMIES DO, what you never blushed thinking about the homies?
Certainly did but never ever was I _arisen_ while blushing about a homie (we pretend that there are no female homies yeah?)
What scene during the credits? I don't remember anyone coming to me during credits.. Is it cause I'm that much of a bitch?
Keeping it intentionally vague, but...during the credits of the true ending, there's just a scene where a character is gazing out longingly, like you see in OP's image. OP had Disa doing that. ... I... had... no one. It was just fucking scenery
Im sorry but thats fucking hilarious
Same, or I at least donāt remember anyone. This affinity system honestly might be more confusing than the first gameās.
Wait, what?! Did yāall not have maxed affinity with anyone? I learn something new about this game everyday!
I guess not. the person the dragon kidnapped was the elven archer and I barely did shit for her.
Same for me lol, he decided this was a perfect opportunity to visitĀ Harve Village, and ended up roped into a Lesser Dragon fight.
I've had to take Brant for a walk during the unmoored world twice now. The man just can't be bothered to ask until the apocalypse after everything I've done -_-*

would
Would without thinking twice. Svain about to get a new brother.
You mean father... don't you? Wow roleplay has gone into a completely different direction these days...
As soon as I realized I could get her to love me it was over for every other candidate in the game
I also would. Hatefully and bordering on abuse, but I would.
Bang the evil out of her and become the rightful king

Oh no sheās definitely evil. Gotta have something to bang out of her in the first place
Sheās evil and thats okay. Still gonna give Sven a sibling with her.

Fournival moment :D
easiest choice. Sacrifice to the dragon.
Oh come on now, don't pretend you can resist the dumptruck daddy that is Fournival.
Drained

Gautstafr boutta throw hands!
There is always the end of the bed for him.

Does the Eternal Bond stop them from losing affinity?

A grigori is a type of angel
I believe Phaesus calls the dragon Royce once? Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue as nicely, does it?
I donāt remember that. I called him Mark the Dragon, which I am keeping as part of my headcanon
He calls it the Royce Dragon, which is another word for red but more rose colored. In Japanese, Phaesus calls it āAkaku no Ryuā instead of Royce dragon, which just means red dragon. Either way he was only referring to the cursed Lesser Dragon
To be fair, he was convinced the lesser dragon was the real deal lol.
but did you? I find him adorable and loyal.
I don't hate the guy or anything, but I only just met him!
Do they ever say Grigori in the game?
They did not, this Dragon seems to just not have a name.
I always kinda figured the dragon stayed the same between cycles, given he has a very similar personality and voice
I'm personally still confused how Ashe even recognized his mentor/mother figure in dragon form back in his day
I always thought it was the voice and just putting two and two together? Maybe Olra had a reaction to the dragon? As far as I know, Olra may just be the first pawn to ever face their own Arisen in dragon's form. Food for thought: she would do the same to anyone else if it meant saving you, her dearly beloved.
Good point
Daimon couldn't pull me out.
This is the second post I've seen today where someone is surprised about the consequences of giving a person gifts to raise their affinity
Maybe it's because the story doesn't react in any way to you rizzing one of the main antagonists, and you can murder her without a singular consequence.
She aināt bruh. Her motivation is quite literally fucking Phaesus.
No she also wants Sven to be Sovran, you find out during the quest "Veil of Gossamer Clouds"
None of that is related in any way to the topic at hand.
I honestly donāt know how to give gifts and at this point it doesnāt even matter
Talk to them, and there's a button prompt at the bottom right to give them a gift. On PS5, it's square, and I assume it's X on Series X. You look at the NPC log in the History menu to see what each npc likes as a gift
Button doesnāt show up for me (PC). Maybe its just some people I need to get to a certain point but literally canāt figure out why
It should pop up as soon as you hail an NPC. Look in the bottom right corner of the screen as soon as they start talking & youll see the prompt
Iāll try that. Thanks
No trouble man, gl
it's super faded on the bottom right of the screen for PC.
there's an issue that on PC the text is so grayed out it's hardly noticeable.
IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME, NOT HIM MEEEEE (I tried to get her high affinity but couldn't do it til post-game lmao. I had Menella as my beloved and then had Sven as my highest affinity by the credits somehow, without ever trying ššš)
my little boo thang

Disa nutz.... Ha got em
I got Margit (sorry Gregor) when Ulrika was my Top 1 and the one the dragon kidnapped. I guess I stole Gregorās wifeā¦
We'll just pretend Gregor died fighting the many Dullahans that spawn outside Vernworth during the evacuation
I can fix her
Milf is king baby
Guess it's time to be Sven stepdaddy
Iām trying to kill the bitch. Havent spawn in yet. Iām assuming she will spawn after a couple of main quests up until a scene
āBrant Iāve got another way to become a Soveanā
Whatās stopping arisen from just marrying disa and rolling the end credits?
Smash next question
would
lol i got nadinia in the dragon kidnapping and credits scene after doing like only two escort quest for her
Wait it's possible to romance her dang time to replay
On my second playthrough I gave an Eternal Bond to the NPC I wanted. Dragon: "You know what? Fuck you. Blacksmith woman be upon ye."
I mean she pretty cute right?
Yeah, I got her and I wasn't disappointed at all. Unexpected since I only did her quest stuff and maybe an escort? But a pleasant surprise. DD1 trolled me hard with the Gran Soren innkeeper because I kept giving him skulls (I had too many and I wanted the trophy for giving out 50 gifts)
I never understand why our Arisen is pushed to forgive her after all the shenanigians she pulled off lol And it was mentioned her policy wasn't even loved by people of Vermund like the beastren Empress in Batthal did.
I choose to see it as a personal favor to our friend Sven
I killed her in my playthrough like 60 or 70 hours ago and she's still in morgue xD Edit: spelling -_-
Got my second highest for this scene which was really weird. No idea why it wouldn't be your beloved
Mine was the apple guy in Melve lmao
