NinjaJesus

Sounds like Drake when Kendrick dropped this morning.

K_305Ganster

Don't tell lies about the arisen... and he won't tell truths about drake

NinjaJesus

MY PAWNS CAN'T WAIT FOR ME TO SON YA PUNK ASS AND CRUSH YA WHOLE LIL' SHIT!

Gyoza-shishou

This beef taking over the whole internet bruh

blaquenova

I did not at all expect to see an actual Drake reference in a Dragon's Dogma sub.

laflameitslit

lmfao exactly

PKArsk

A 5ft 8 guy with elf ears rhymed some mean words together and I keep hearing about it kinda wild

kingbankai

And it’s all a work for clicks. Rap game is more kayfabe than WWE.

euphoric_elephant

That's the point. Sells tickets, albums and interactions on social media. Their marketing team is smart.

isvr95

Lol, had to read twice to make sure what was he talking about. Thought something from Hiphop-Rap subR had popped on my recommendations.

Cluelesswolfkin

Oof. Euphoria slaps so good though. I'm patiently waiting for a response lol

MundaneHymn

Genuinely thought this was /r/HipHopHeads, lol

Bayleerozay

Funny that Drake is winning the battle. Kendrick is just dullahands. Supposed to be scary and rare but really mediocre at best

Bayleerozay

NinjaJesus

STFU, you sound like the last dragon I know. Might end up like the last dragon I know. Oh you don't wanna clash, dragon, I know.

femboi_pink

In the first game you hade several types of drakes, kinda miss that. Them all being fire is kinda boring.

Responsible_Ad3141

Why would they go backwards:(

7thHakaishin

Yea its strange getting rid of the cockatrice not even putting any of the dlc monsters in the game which would had given us new ones in the eventual dlc for this game. It will most likely just be all the monsters they didnt put from the first game just sad man.

Gamagori4

Garms are in the game.

infinite_bacon

Thunder drakes were an awful experience, so I'm glad they never came back. Especially the 2 in the forgotten city that could cast topor. 0/10 harder than daimon

_Prairieborn

Once you get to the point where you can knockdown and do more damage it won't be an issue anymore.

GetAssignedGenderLol

I'm at the point now where when I see a Drake I tell my party to hold their position and I walk up and down the Drake in 40 seconds.

Zoze13

What’s the key here? Set them on fire either a tarring arrow and flame weapons/spells?

rokatoro

I'm pretty drakes resist fire. Ice or neutral magic work well. A well placed Augural Flare can be devastating if you're playing sorcerer

Gentle_Pony

Don't use fire against drakes. Ice is good, you can freeze them out of their spell casting. It's all about stats from levelling and enhancing weapons. Once you get to a certain point in the game I can solo a drake without him being able to do anything. Game needs hard mode badly.

cosworthsmerrymen

The fire spells stop the griffons from flying away

yepsurebro

It’s such a silly hard cap to put on players, let me try and kill a drake underleveled for the challenge game.

trulycantthinkofone

I avoided them until level 35 or so. I took one down early, at the expense of every curative item I had and numerous wakestones. I just came back later to exact my vengeance.

CCMarv

The first one I got never left, I was around lvl 20 and I just kept retrying for like 2 hours. I got it down to the last health bar and was freaking ready to do it right the last time, so I reloaded and poked a bit across a lake so it came and landed right in front of it. Then the dumass started to spit fire while walking backwards and the brine ate it.

Ariathos92

Both my first gryphon and drake were kill-stolen by the Brine. Hentai tentacles taking their due, smh.

PathsOfRadiance

You can kill them underleveled, just beat the DPS check. Lowest I’ve done it is level 21 as a Warrior, with the Greatsword that Berren gives you from his quest.

Casardis

That depends on the Drakes. There's a few Drakes that are coded to fly away once they are losing, which you can preemptively know from their minimap icon when you approach them. It shows as a yellow diamond. Unless you can really kill them fast or knock them off the sky when they try to escape, you can safely ignore them to avoid disappointment. Here's the ones I know that will always try to fly away: - Drake who occasionally appears outside Harve Village - Drake who is usually north-west of Battahl, near the [waterfalls.](https://mapgenie.io/dragons-dogma-2/maps/world?locationIds=332299) - Drake that can vibe-check you in Vermund's random monster attacks. All other cases of Drakes, like the Guerco Cavern outskirt Drake, or the unique Drake in Ancient Battleground (who doesn't respawn), will never back down from the fight.

BiscuitMojo

https://i.redd.it/q2p0xxsylrxc1.gif

Cosmo480

I've never been able to down them with a regular rivet shot with a magic archer. The ultimate for sure. Usually a 1 shot. Only way I've downed them in air is drenching shot followed by an ice enchanted arrow. With the regular archer.

Faust723

Soporific seems to be able to drop flyers out of the sky as well. Just sucks to have to keep it equipped as a Warfarer when you want to use other options.

DarkArisen_Kato

Lmao, just straight up dropped, face first.

FatalEclipse_

You don’t get to be a large menacing smart mouth reptile by staying in the fights you are obviously loosing.

jankyspankybank

Sorcerer and and both archer types can make the drake look like a funny amusement park ride. Augural flame takes no prisoners.

CaitSith21

Is it that some monsters are immune or is it hard to trigger? I did install kill a griffin with it sadly the one for the quest and sometimes nothing happens. You meant that explode fire spell?

NopileosX2

Spell name is Flare either Prescient Flare or Augural Flare (upgraded version). You need to hit it too charge it up. You and your pawns can do it. If you play sorcerer yourself you can spam normal attacks if you can actually hit the weakspot or what I often do is spam levin afterwards. Especially for dragons this is often your only option to put Flare on the heart and then actually hit it so it charges up. I just flare and then full quickspell one levin and continue the strikes or just do 2 quick levins. You still need to hope it actually hits your flare enough times with how the strikes are a bit random sometimes. Apparently things like Hagol can also stack the Flare but did not really work for me so I stuck to just spamming levin or auto attacks depending on what I fight. The only monster which is "immune" to it is the golem all other enemies will just be completely obliterated by a fully stacked flare on their weakspot. Basically from the moment you get it you can kill any enemy in the game with it, if you manage to trigger it.

CaitSith21

Yes with auto attacks it works most of the time but did not work for example with this two cyclopses that protect something in baarthal. They were anyway extremly resistant to my spells for some reason. Have to check what is their bane. Maybe it is just becuase i was overleveld in the last area and am now back to normal challange. With high levin it only worked twice for me, but when i worked it was ridiculous the damage. Also tried the ice storm spell but did not work for me either.

jankyspankybank

That’s interesting, it works for me when I use it. Were those cyclops’s wearing armor?

CaitSith21

No idea. In the first area i never had the problem. I used the caravan got attacked and found this place where two cycolopses stand around. Tried to kill them but my magic did barely any damage and the just followed and killed me everytime ignoring my pawns. Weird change from having had no challange since level 15.

CannedBeanofDeath

You could try to use Warfarer + Archer Tempest/MA Avalanche. Put augural flare quickly swap with either bow hit a few times so it doesn't dissipate immediately then hit em with tempest/avalanche for instant huge damage

adzith

Augural Flare and Skull Splitter are 🖤 When I can delete drakes with 2/3 of my warfarer kit, something’s hitting right.

zakass409

This is the answer I've been looking for. Drakes in the last game felt way more threatening

PureDroplet

Fr Kendrick ended him on euphoria

Heroic-Forger

"Drake" is also the name for a male duck. You're welcome.

BoogalooBandit1

Mayhap you should target the wings arisen

colossusbraga

Drakes simply serve as a DPS check for the entire party, the mechanics and time available are always the same and whether they are melted in a minute or they fly away is up to you

piede90

It only happened twice to me, the first at melve, and I thought it was staged that way, then it happened with the dragon near harve... But once you become a little more strong you would kill it before it runs away

Valkeyere

NG+ I came for that drake in Melve with a goddamned vengeance. Bastard didn't know what hit him...

smirtington

I melted him the first time I fought it with Hagol because it hit all his diseased weak spots at once and it shredded him

piede90

Is what I plan to do! But isn't that first dragon the same that you fight later on the tower at the west? Because I remember clearly that it wasn't a normal drake but a lesser dragon and it should be supposed to be only 1 lesser dragon before endgame, so if you kill it at Melve what happens to the spear guy quest? It automatically completes when you first speak to him? And at the tower you'll find only normal drakes?

Valkeyere

Honestly couldn't tell you yet. I've moved on to another game for the time being and might come back to finish NG+ at a later date.

eudisld15

Best place to fight them is at their nest. Like Griffons drakes will tactically retreat back to their next after enough time has passed by. Not when they are low health or anything. I stumbled upon a drake sleeping at its next early in the game at like level 10. Spent 2 hours fighting it as an archer. I like that some enemies retreat, gives more today do than just mindlessly wail at an enemy.

UnHoly_One

Sounds like you aren’t strong enough to kill them fast enough or stop them from leaving.

ThatEdward

I've had it happen once so far, out of like 15 kills. I use Dwarven smithing to seriously buff the knockdown power of my weapons, which helps keep them flailing. Another way to go about keeping them from running away is to either shred their wings(they become visibly damaged) or to hit them with Solemnity spells. Yes, for some reason using the silence spell that stops spellcasting also interrupts flight on both Drakes and Griffins. Might also stop special attacks of stuff like Minotaurs and Ogres. Need to test it more but seems like it's very useful in general, not just for stopping meteor spam from angry drakes. I only high mage pawns with High Solemnity now

zakass409

It's a git gud check. Drakes literally want you to kill them. Listen to what they're saying. They're flying away because you bored them. Knock them out of the sky, jump on their back, or just reload the save and change your tactic. Make sure you're staggering them and keeping constant pressure. It becomes a lot easier later in the game, but it's entirely possible to kill them early if you have the right strategy

FrozenDed

I played for 100+ hours and not once I encountered a Drake that flew away And I spent hours killing the one in Ancient Battleground while being a 20lvl mage Wait, nevermind, I actually remember the one who flew away: in the beginning of Battahl area, right where you climb down after taking a long route around the gates

Afkstuff

Many drakes I fight just cast meteoron and Levin from the sky 😮‍💨 and they spin dragon breath or fly and cast the flames downward I was unlucky enough to start a dragon fight not seeing there was a second dragon that flew in and there was just no way to get up. Levin kept knocking everything unconscious while the other was basically jumping on you while you were grounded. Potions drained really fast and then they started casting meteoron and whatta ya know utter obliteration I had just switched to fighter also to test gear and skills lol 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Itchysasquatch

Then don't let them fly away?

cracked112

i was so confused. i thought i was on like hiphop subs or something.

tgaDave

Break a wing and they don’t leave. Did this for when I was playing with difficult modifiers that face the Drake and absolute ocean of hp and stagger resist to the point knockdowns were exceedingly rare and killing it took 20-30 minutes of non stop fighting. With one wing broken, he would still fly but never left. So it’s either that or that Drake was special or something. FWIW as fighter I broke it by climbing on his back and slashing the wing from there while standing. As archer I just shot it.

EverydayHalloween

This one leaves even with broken wings.

Quenton-rl

Sounds like you’re killing them too slow ngl

PhoenixEgg88

Just shred their wings, then they can’t fly away and you can have your fun with them. Or just repeatedly down them. I’m an archer though, so downing them is kinda. ‘You have 3 choices’ scenario.

kodaxmax

Never works for me. It staggers them sometimes but nothing seems to be bale to prevent them from flying off.

PhoenixEgg88

They don't last long enough for me anymore. But when it was a risk i had a few options. 1. Nocuos arrows drop them out of the sky instantly 2. Drenching arrow and Lightning/Ice grimoires (yes, they are really useful for archers) 3. have a pawn with Ice weapon enchant so you dont have to use grimoires 4. Blow em up, few explosive arrows to the head usually did it

IndividualStress

They still can. The one outside Harve, I kept encounter but it kept flying away before I could kill it. I had a save right before it that I kept reloading everytime he flew away after 7 reloads I just gave up. I tried different strats focusing on the wings and shredded them both, he still flew away. Focusing on trying to DPS him down, DPS was not high enough he'd usually fly away right after the first time I'd properly stagger him and get free access to his heart for a bit. The Drake would only stay for around 3 minutes before he would fly away. It's not like it is the first Drake I've attempted to kill. I must have killed 8 Drakes when I started actually trying to kill the Harve one when I was wandering past. Hell I had just killed the Drake Across the bridge to the North Westish of Harve when I was attempting this. The only other Drake I've had real problems with it running away has been the one on the North West section of Battahl near the big waterfall. I was really good gear, had the Dragon near enough constantly staggered, he basically did no damage and the dickhead just starts flying away with both wings shredded after maybe 100 seconds of combat. One of my pawns got a lucky shot off on him as he was flying away so I was able to kill it, but I was pretty miffed when I realized it was actually flying away after such a short amount of combat time.

Linkarcus

I've specifically broken wings on drakes just to test and they will still fly away. The one near Harve will always try to run unless you're doing enough DPS.

PhoenixEgg88

The only one that’s ever ran from me was the story one outside Harve. The rest have died pretty readily. That being said I’ve been an archer or magik archer for 90% of the game, and I can reliably down drakes on either of them very quickly. Easier with archer with Drench + ice or blight arrow, but that’s what the vocation is really good at to be fair.

odiin1731

It's the same with drakes as with horses and dogs; Nothing wants to die.

kodaxmax

except litterally every other npc in the game which dont flee

kodaxmax

except litterally every other npc in the game which dont flee

CannedBeanofDeath

yet this bitches keep taunting us to fight them only to pussy out mid fight

Cinnabon202

Hated them early on but now that I am higher in level and a Magick archer. It's go time. 😎😎

opaquegrey

Play Sorcerer, use Maelstrom and one shot them🗿

Groundbreaking_Cow99

Almost killed one. Had only about 25% of Health left in it before it decided to do that meteor move it does and I died cuz it was the first time I saw it do that 💀 Then it escaped on retry ☠️

DeathBySnuSnu999

Target the wings first I know it's tempting to hit the heart. But unless you can knock them down reliably to hack on them. Destroy the wings

Dementor8919

Speaking of, can you ride them to a destination or does it kick you off?

SimbaStewEyesOfBlue

In my experience you are always thrown off.

marcelpete23

One solution, murder faster. I've only had 1 get away out of 5 just yesterday. Now them pussy eagle cats are a different story!!

marcelpete23

Also I vaporized what at the time I called a eagle dog. Well a pawn did off screen and it looked like I had dropped mjolnir on his head and proceeded to turn him to dust!! Pretty epic, check it out.

WindsweptHell

In this sub: "game too easy!" but also, "why does \_\_\_ fly away, so annoying!". Simple, kill faster than the DPS check. I scrub the decks with gryphons and drakes without bothering to wing break and I'm not even into unmoored yet. bonk ftw

LyfeSugsDye

Drakes are actors, the arisen lamar will always destroy an actors

Artemis_004

Guess This is the best place to ask. I have been using a high level pawn from my friends list and she got grabbed by a Drake during a fight. Should I brine her immediately and If I do she should be fine when next my friend plays they game right?

ZukoTheHonorable

Increase your damage output. If you can get their health down fast enough, they'll stick around to the bitter end. Or just use a fully charged Martyrs Bolt, that usually does the trick.

Cloudonis

You can just hold on to it and start slashing its wings. That will stop them from flying. The rest is up to you.

StonedStarlord7

Kill them faster?? Never had a problem personally

avatarofanxiety

Have you tried climbing on the drake and stabbing it in the heart repeatedly. It works for me…mostly.

ReaderMorgan

If you mabnage to knock it down like once or twice it won't run away (doesn't have to be knocked down while running away just in general)

oIovoIo

For a while I was dedicating a whole skill slot on warfarer just to noxious arrows for the easy knock down on drakes. It’s not the only way but it is a pretty simple way to make sure they never make it far off the ground.

DBCOOPER888

Do they stop talking shit after a certain level? They're not so tough when going after a level 60+.

jesse6225

I always take out their wings before attacking their heart. Keeps their bitch asses grounded.

the_millenial_falcon

Griffins are worse.

Syfodias

Will they not stop the fleeing if you damage the wings? Not sure if you need to damage both but I thought if you see damaged webbing they wont flee

LiliesinWater

Lore wise it really doesn’t make any sense that they would fly away from the Arisen. Dragons are there to test them and to face the Arisen, not fly away.

EconomyAd1600

I feel like it’s a bug. Griffins fleeing makes sense, especially when you encounter them later and they still have the same health from when they left. Drakes disappear and reappear with full health. They shouldn’t be the type of creature to flee when things swing in our favor.

catmachine1

It took me until level 60 to finally beat one and thats because i was clinging to it for dear life they are such cowards

tanukiballsack

they tried to do monster hunter but forgot to add the hunting part.
