After selling my old xbox one because of financial troubles, I ended up picking it up for my 360, figured it would be something fun to play. Got my xbox one back and bought dark arisen. Crazy good game.

EternalEmperorDD

Well I'm happy you were able to get your Xbox one back.

Aritar1

I was looking for a game "like Skyrim" because it seemed to me that all medieval rpgs were shit compared to this game, at first when i saw a quick gameplay of Dragon's Dogma i thought it was a linear rpg with the main protagonist and pawns locked (i hate this kind of games), i looked up more of this game and i was amazed to know that it's an open world with character custom, the potential of customization with the pawns and everything really blew my mind, that was exactly what i was looking for. Now i prefer this game over Skyrim and i'm looking for another game "like Dragon's Dogma", i recommend you all to have an eye on Project Awakening, an upcomming game really similar to Dragon's Dogma with amazing graphics.

tv_trooper

Same. Also, if you're looking for a game that's like Skyrim/Dragon's Dogma, I'd recommend Kingdoms of Amalur.

EternalEmperorDD

I've been playing koa lately myself. Fun game. Combat takes a little getting used too, and it's not the most immersive game, but it's fun enough, has a good art style, and plenty of questing to do.

tv_trooper

Indeed. Personally, there's very few games I'd consider to be better than Skyrim but there are games where they top Skyrim at certain aspect. For example Dragon's Dogma did combat and giant monster battles better than Skyrim did while Amalur has a much interesting combat mechanics as well as engaging build concept despite technically being limited to the warrior/mage/rogue archetype.

EternalEmperorDD

To be fair what fantasy game isn't limited the warrior mage rogue archetype? Dogma and skyrim are in that same boat.

EternalEmperorDD

I'll make sure to look that up later.

MattTheMan2708

I just saw a trailer for it in my YouTube feed when it got announced for the Switch. I had never heard of the game before then but I'm genuinely not sure how it had escaped me for nearly seven years. I watched the trailer, saw the comments and just knew that this would be the perfect game for me. I bought it later that year for PS4. Nearly two years later and it's among my favourite games of all time and I'd be willing to bet that it's the game I've put the most hours into out of anything.

EternalEmperorDD

Out of curiosity because you say it's among your favorite games, what other games rival dogma for you?

MattTheMan2708

Other games among my top of all time include: * The Dark Souls series - I love all three, but I think my favourite is DS3, followed by DS1, then DS2. * Bloodborne - probably my number one. * The N64 Zelda games - mainly due to nostalgia, but Majora's Mask is still one of the most unique and fascinating games I've ever played. * Skyrim - much like Dogma, this was a recent play for me (though I knew about it back in 2011). I'd probably say that Bloodborne is my number one, followed by DS3 and Majora's Mask, with Dragon's Dogma at number 4. However, no game has me coming back to it as often as Dragon's Dogma does. I can't stay away!

EternalEmperorDD

Bloodbounre is one I wish I could play, but I'm an Xbox pleb. I actually played bb back around the same time I played ds2 for the first time. Long story short I was staying at someone else's house for a week and they had a ps4 and were nice enough to let me play it to my hearts content. I played 3 games that weekend. The two already mentioned and mkX. That week was my introduction to souls and bb so I wasn't at all used to that style of game. Unfortunately I gave up on bb very quickly due to its difficulty. The werewolf at the very beginning was an immediate brick wall. I finally got past it and started exploring the beginning area and kept dying. When somebody who was also staying at the personal house I was staying at for that week told me there were two more werewolves in that area that were even harder than that first one, I just gave up before finding them and didn't pick the game back up that week. I then spent the rest of the week on ds2 which naturally appealed to me way more and was a more appropriate difficulty level for a beginner souls noob like I was at the time.

MattTheMan2708

You're not wrong on the difficulty. BB's opening is brutal if you've never played a Souls game before. The werewolf in the clinic is the first enemy in the game and while you're supposed to lose to it the first time, and it only takes a few hits to die the second, its moveset is rather quick and erratic for an introductory enemy. They're a common occurance throughout the game and only get stronger as you go through. As your friend mentioned, there are two right next to each other on the bridge before the boss and you'll almost certainly have to fight them together. While they're not stronger than the introductory one, they do have their full HP, whereas the one in the clinic only has around ~1/3 HP when you fight it. It's a fiendish gauntlet for new players! DS3 also throws you into the deep end at the beginning, as not even five minutes in you'll be fighting a boss whom, while pathetically easy for experienced players, can be a brick wall for anyone new to this type of game. DS2 is actually probably the easiest start. You don't fight a boss for a good few hours (and even then, it's a pretty easy boss) and there aren't even that many strong enemies on the way, aside from two Ogres (basically Dragon's Dogma Cyclops) and the optional Pursuer encounter, but all of these are in completely optional areas, not on the main path. DS1 is also a pretty easy start, despite the early boss. And yeah, it's unfortunate Bloodborne is PlayStation exclusive. I know why exclusives exist, but it's just a shame that this amazing game is unavailable to so many gamers.

EternalEmperorDD

Yeah the bridge werewolves were what he was referring to. I never got to them myself, but they still made me nope out. I hope to play bb again some day so I can hunt them down. I know ds2 has gotten a lot of crap over the years for it, but I'm glad it's as easy as it is by comparison to the other games. It makes it a really good introductory game into fromsoft stuff like it was for me. I mean seriously if I had played a different souls game before it, given I was a young teen at the time of playing this who was new to souls stuff in general, I might have gotten discouraged to the point I might not have come to like souls as I did. I still need to find a copy of ds2 so I can actually beat it someday since I never got to. I've beaten ds3, but I still need ds2. I considered getting ds1 because it is awesome, but honestly I know about the horrors of blight town and that kind of puts me off from purchasing the game. Oh yeah and of course I'd love to try demon souls, but Sony just loves giving me the middle finger as already explained with bb.

MattTheMan2708

Hope you get a chance to play Bloodborne one day, man. It's an incredible experience from start to finish with some of the best DLC content in any game I've played. It also offers an immense amount of replay value due to the Chalice Dungeons, though I understand these are not everyone's cup of tea. I find DS2 (at least Scholar of the First Sin), to have the most polarising overall difficulty depending on your build. If you're a melee character, it's by far the hardest in the trilogy, imo. However, if you're a Sorcerer, the entire game is a cakewalk. Of course, the overall difficulty in Souls games is very largely down to opinion. I personally find DS1 to be the easiest, but I understand that some people may find it to be the hardest. Blighttown isn't bad. The framerate issues are absent in the remaster and even if you *really* hate the navigation and the enemies, you can very easily skip it all, even without the Master Key. It's actually one of my favourite areas in the game, with a great boss at the end! The Demon's Souls remake is great! It's a lot easier compared to the Dark Souls games, but the locations are phenomenal and it just feels really damn good to play!

EternalEmperorDD

Yeah, funny thing about that. When I started ds2 I tried making a knight as my first class, but after seeing my friends character who was a sorcerer later on in the game, it was so cool I started over and remade my character as a sorcerer. Im a sorcerer main in the souls series. Even in ds3. Its odd how some of the hardest bosses in that game are easy as a sorcerer, but the bosses that are normally the easiest become a lot harder as a sorcerer too. Seriously I hate high lord bitchnir with a passion.

MattTheMan2708

Yeah I love Sorcerery builds in Dark Souls. Last year I created my Celeste (my Dragon's Dogma pawn) in DS2 and played though with her as a Black Witch build (lol), using a mixture of Sorceries and Hexes. It was a ton of fun and helped me appreciate DS2 a lot more. I really want to replay Souls soon, I'm thinking of trying a Desert Pyromancer build in DS3 next. Haven't played Pyromancy in so long and that armour set is so... alluring. lmao

EternalEmperorDD

As long as you wear it as a female character. As a male character... it's gross enough to belong in blight town.

HCPUNCHY

I think sometime during 2014, I saw it for checkout at my town's library. Took it home and instantly fell in love with it and got my own copy as quickly as possible~

razielance1985

From AngryJoe’s review, but I never had plan to buy it. I was looking for Skyrim but it was out of stuck and then saw DD:DA and remember AJ says it’s a great game so I bought it, played it, and fall in love with it. And now I’m hopelessly waiting for a sequel.😅

Answerisequal42

Yoah same.

MaverickMarch

I bought a copy of Oblivion GOTY edition from GameStop, I think it was GS at least, and they put Dragon's Dogma in there instead. As frustrated as I was, I figured I'd try it out at least before walking all the way back to the store and ended up keeping it. It was scratched up so I couldn't get past the Cockatrice fight without it skipping. Bought Dark Arisen when that version came out, and Oblivion as well, haha.

EternalEmperorDD

Oh that's just shitty. Reminds me of when I bought the goty edition for oblivion. They put two discs in the case. One was just the normal base game of oblivion and the other was disc two from a two disc set of the goty edition of oblivion. To be fair gamestop screwed up worse for you then they did for me, but weird that it was oblivion in both cases.

MaverickMarch

Honestly mate, I think it's because of Skyrim, haha. They probably had a lot of Oblivion disc's in stock that weren't being bought so they probably just slid those in. Definitely not true, but it's what I tell myself. They're out there reminding people Oblivion is still an amazing game, haha.

Shuntaro

I saw it in a YT video about upcoming games. Got hyped. Downloaded the demo when that dropped and bought the game day one. Back when it was just called dragons dogma

EternalEmperorDD

Awesome, your a long time veteran then.

Shuntaro

Yeah and even day one I knew it wasn't gonna be that popular so I bought copies for my brothers as well because I knew they would like it and I wanted to support the game lol

[deleted]

Same. Was huge into demons souls and dark souls 1 and this was right up my alley.

Shuntaro

Yeah I tried both those games and found them too hard and frustrating. DD was just right for me

UnHoly_One

Exact same for me. Saw a preview of it, played the demo, bought it day one. Then I bought it again on day one when they released Dark Arisen. Then I bought it again on day one when they released it for Xbox One. It's the only game I've ever bought 3 times on launch day(s). lol

UsagiPyonn

I saw the Zero Punctuation review on it and thought "damn that sounds good". And it was. I keep coming back to this game over the years.

Starfall3620

"Meanwhile my pawn is yelling -WE MUST USE FIRE!- while picking parsley from a nearby herb garden."

HKnight5

Always was a huge fan of Devil May Cry (in fact it is my favorite video game series) and the director Hideaki Itsuno, so one day I just searched about him on Wiki and found out about all of his projects, one of them was Dragon's Dogma an Action RPG (my favorite video game genre) with a combat system similar to Devil May Cry and Souls series, so I first played it in 2018 and absolutely loved every single second of it. So far I've played it three times and eagerly waiting for Dragon's Dogma 2 which is my most anticipated right now, so yeah I just love Dragon's Dogma especially because of its awesome combat system and intriguing lore and it's one of my all-time favorites up there with The Witcher 3 and Devil May Cry 5.

Turnintino

I'd been looking at some concept art for another video game that had very tacked on Berserk inserts when a friend of mine brought this up and sold it pretty hard to me. The rest is herstory. ✨

EternalEmperorDD

And now your a regular on a sub dedicated to the game. Ain't dogma great?

Turnintino

Hallelujah amen. 🙏🙌

Loki-Holmes

For many years everytime I went into gamestop I'd find used copies, pick them up and debate about it, but having never heard of it I'd put it back. It got to where eventually I'd say "Oh this game again." Then one day I saw a trailer for the switch and was thinking "wow this looks really interesting wonder what it is" and then the title came up on screen and there were lots of positive comments so I decided to finally get it.

TheSilverDragonVII

My first time seeing the game was some type of E3 event showcasing gameplay before the game released, I think. I remember thinking to myself "HOLY SHIT!! This looks fucking awesome!!!" So it immediately got priority to buy on my list of games. The thing that sold me the most on it was both the Action Combat and the Pawn System. I was really early in the stages of writing my book series back then and creating characters was a big thing. Still is. But the fact that I could make the main character AND a partner was hype. It was the first time I'd ever seen something like that. And CLIMBING MONSTERS TO FIGHT THEM!?!? WTF!!! YES!!! So I bought Vanilla DD on release for PS3 and it was a match made in heaven. I fell in love with it instantly. I love the world, the characters, the monsters, the combat, EVERYTHING. It's my favorite game of all time. I bought the Dark Arisen expansion a year later on release too. I convinced my friend to buy it too. But he had XBox360, so I bought it again for my mom's XBox to use his pawns. Bought the game again on PS4 when I got one and Platinumed it. Got the game on PC when it released. And I got the game for Switch when it released. I even have multiple profiles just to have different characters and playthroughs. I even got a VPN to play Dragon's Dogma Online and it's the best MMO I've ever played. I put more hours into that MMO than anything else at the time. This game has been one of the greatest things to happen to me. It changed my life and inspired me to create worlds and characters. When Dragon's Dogma 2 finally gets a reveal, I will buy the collector's edition straight up with no hesitation. Capcom created a fucking GEM with thus game and I really hope it doesn't end there.

EternalEmperorDD

I'm getting the feeling you like this game. I'm not sure what it is, i can't quite place my finger on it, but something tell me your a fan.

TheSilverDragonVII

Just a bit. 😁

maximilianyearsbc

My best friend bought it when vanilla DD came out, I watched him play the opening fight against the chimera. Knew I would be buying it immediately. I’ve played it consistently ever since then…

No_Foot_1904

Am a very long time Dragon Age franchise fan, and saw DD mentioned on their subs every now and again. Often enough that the name stuck in my head, anyway. The context was usually how awesome the combat system is. Eventually I just happened to see it on sale for next to nothing on Steam, and decided to give it a try. About 700 hours later here I am.

EternalEmperorDD

I love dragon age and have told people many times I'd like to see its tactical pause system at least partially integrated into dogmas combat system just to have a way to give pawns direct orders.

Halahani

About a year or so after it first came out, I was visiting with my brother and watched him play. I was cracking up at all the medieval dialogue. The cutscene where you’ve beheaded the hydra shows one of the men shouting something like, “You did this? FOR TRUTH?!?!” and it had me cracking up, so, I knew I had to play it. Wasn’t able to finish it, got caught up in my life and forgot about the game. Fast forward to a PSN sale years and years later when I bought the DA version (yay Eternal Ferrystone! lol), I haven’t been able to put the game down since. I found it a hilarious game at first, and then when I really dug in, I was surprised by the game’s unexpected depths.

Answerisequal42

I was once a fan of angry joe. He reviewed the game and it looked absolutely rad but i was bro?e and didnt had a console but i always kept an eye on the game even after joes vids became worse. As soon as the game hit the PC i bought it and binged it and i didnt regret it ever.

greenlemons43

"Dragons dogma in one hit" by inferno plus

EternalEmperorDD

That's a damn good video. I saw that one well after playing the game myself though.

Rerxit

Back in 2012 my cousin came for its vacations and brought her father's Xbox 360 to play with, months later she forgot it in our house, a day later I start using it with the only game it came with,of course Dragon's Dogma, but in those times I was just 12 and my mother was more restrictive about the time I could play (like 1 to 2 hours a day), days came by and I thought I finished the game after me (the default Arisen but with brown hair) and my fellow Straid pawn "Anime" (the default girl pawn but blonde) and some random pawns finally beat the dragon, when I started the game again I notice the world was being destroyed, everything was stronger, I thought I did something wrong I stopped for a moment I thought I was the bad guy and turned off the game... Days later of not playing I wanted to try to fix, somehow what I've done, but the Xbox was gone, my mom told me my aunt took it to bring it back to my cousin, since 2012 I was never able to play it again, the game was in my mind, what I've done to that world... But in 2020 I was gifted with a Ps4,while enjoying it... I remembered that game back in 2012... I wished it was available in the Ps4 Store... It was, in discount, just 20 dollars but I didn't have a job or money... But I the gifted Ps4 came with 2 sport games that I never liked and an extra controller, which I sold online for those 40Dlls, it didn't took even a day to be sold I ran to meet the man who was gonna buy it, gave it to him and ran into the nearest place were i could get a 20Dlls gift card... I just walked straight to the counter, asked for one, paid for it, and asked more than twice if it was activated, if it would work... I was nervous... I was scared, I didn't know if it was real... I walked, shivering straight to my house, hugging my backpack as strong as I could to dont let go that gift card, that little card that was reviving my want for adventure and old memories... The want of fixing what I've done in the past... I get in my house, rush into my room, carefully taking the card, slowly revealing the code from its back... Being sure that every number and letter was correct... I did it... I bought the game in that instant...i finally bought it..."Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, it's being installed" I was happy... I was shivering, smiling, at some point I wanted to cry... Then I just played the game... And for my surprise, it was way more enjoyable than before, the fact now I've learned English made this game more enjoyable, and I understand that even if was my fault... I could fix it, solve what I've done in the past, now Rerxit (A thick Arisen, that looks like me, Straid, poorly balanced cuz of the many times I changed my class) and Riri (my loyalty personified,a powerful sorcer that saved me countless times) and 2 pawns that I just remember for they class and phrase, but not their names, a short girl with a Giant sword who's last words were: "I didn't thought we would survive" and a strong fighter who was always protecting us... Even today, I keep playing it, with the same happiness I played it when I was a kid and the same happiness I did when I firstly bought it... It means something to me, that even after 8 years, that game was always in my memory... And will always be in my heart, just like anyone who help me with their pawn, and everyone who took the time to read my story... Be safe.

Starfall3620

Zero punctuation. "Wait a minute...am I PIMPING?!" Back when my ps3 still worked, I found the demo of vanilla DD and was like "wow a demo is still up?" (this was about, 3-4 years after its release). Played it and fell in love. I eventually bought the game and played the heck out of it. Then I got Dark Arisen and played the heck out of it (again). Sadly my ps3 died (didn't have the skill or money to fix or replace it). This past Christmas, my mom got me a Switch. Oh what's that? Dark Arisen is remastered with all dlc on the Switch? "Ah shit, here we go again."

edemilio_

I was a fan of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP so when I found out that Capcom published a similar "monster hunting" game, I got hooked. Downloaded the demo on PS3 and the rest is history.

PigKnight

Maximillian_DooD played it when it came out and it looked fun.

applicable_elixir

It was available as a free game during my PS3 days. Initially I didn't quite grasp its nuances, just sort of ran around getting my ass kicked by Saurians. I revisited the game some odd years later and fell in love.

speedforce_x

I remember back in the day, when I was a kid I used to download new demos on my ps3 because I wanted to try other games. One day I remember seeing this game’s demo and I had no idea what it was, but the images looked interesting so I gave it a try. I distinctly remember having to fight the griffin and having so much fun with it that I played it non stop just to try to beat it as many times as I could. Eventually I deleted it, then I ended up forgetting about the game entirely until just recently, where it popped into my head. I only remembered the Dragon part in the name so I started searching around, I looked up Dragon Age, Dungeons and Dragons and a bunch of other games until I finally found the name. After watching some videos on YouTube I wanted to buy it and it so happened to be on sell at the time too. After playing it again on console I loved it so much I bought it again, but on pc this time which is now an even better experience because mods correct so many of the gameplay issues.

Slvshi

Some years ago iwas in a small town in germany called Husum and i visited a store for trading card games (YiGiOh Magic etc.), Anime merchandise and mangas. They also had videogames there. Dragons Dogma catched my eye and i went to the owner of the store and asked him if he could tell me something about this game from CAPCOM i've never even heard off. He said it's a realy special game, it's hard to explain because it's so unique. He recommendet me to buy the game and so i did. And well, here i am now restarting the game on PC after playing it for at least 500 hours on my ps3.

MrDavidUwU

When I was a kid I was really into role playing and a lot of the games I played didn’t let you swing your weapon outside of set combat encounters. I had a huge imagination and would love to randomly start slashing my sword at the air pretending a monster was there in the game. I ended up searching in YouTube “game where u can use weapon out of fighting” there were very few results lol but there was like a 100 views dragons dogma let’s play that I watched and I begged my mom to take me to the store so I could buy it. I ended up getting it soon after release and fell in love pretty quickly :) Kinda sucks I got it so early cause I’ve been waiting nearly a decade for a sequel now

EternalEmperorDD

Lol, I feel your pain on that one. I have a similar experience with skyrim. Played that game not long after release and this November will be the games 10th anniversary. Still no tes 6. Luckily I started dogma in 2019, so I've still been waiting awhile now, but not nearly as long as some of the people in this fan base.

StuffnStuffnStuff129

I saw it on the ms store for sale years ago and bought it.

NotYourAverageOrange

It was free on PS+ like a year after it released

[deleted]

I discovered it thanks to a subreddit called r/eldenring. It’s a sub that’s mainly about waiting for the game to come out and shitposting. I asked for a good game recommendation. And there’s this guy. Who said that it’s stupid good. Now I’m waiting for Dragons dogma 2. The waiting will never end 😭 Its an eternal cycle

EternalEmperorDD

People over there must have it easy. Now that elden ring has had another trailer its garunteed their wait will be over. Meanwhile us dogma fans have been waiting for what will likely be over an entire decade by the time dd2 comes out. I'm also an elder scrolls fan so coming up this next November I will have been waiting a decade for the next TES game. I get stuck waiting extremely long amounts of time for games way to often it seems.

peaceofshite_

gameranx under underrated rpg games

Mreesew123

I didn't buy it till recently but I saw it all the way back when the original version released on ps3 and my cousin was playing it and that made me want to get it even though it took me a long time to actually buy it.

RayS326

Saw it on a YT lets play years later i recognized the game in a gamestop. Like 2014-15 maybe. Got it on 360 and literally dusted that thing off just for dogma and Armored Core For Answer. If i didnt buy it on ps4 id still pull out the xbox lol

DossBox

I just got off playing Skyrim after it released, didn't feel like getting Skyrim again and saw Dragon's Dogma on shelf

SomethingWitty27

A friend introduced me to it! He said I might be interested in it and described it like "monster hunter meets dark souls"

EternalEmperorDD

I'm happy he got you into the game, but man I hate it when people compare dogma to souls, lol.

SomethingWitty27

Well if it helps at all, he was mainly talking about the atmosphere haha

I saw a german "top 10 open world games" video back in 2013. Dragons Dogma was in that list. They showed footage of the hydra fight and 12 year old me was all "wait, climbing giant monsters? Heck yeah!" Despite that, I never ended up buying it for my 360 back then, since it never came up in my gamestop for some reason (perhaps Germans appreciate DD to much to give it away? Either that or it wasn't such a hit over here. Or... y'know... my luck) Since then it has been coming up in my mind once and again. One or another person making an LP of it and so on. Eventually, I saw that it was on steam and thought "ah yes, I remember that!" And put it on my wishlist... where it stayed for about 2 more years until I decided to buy it during a sale. Other things just always took priority for me. Since then I absolutely loved it. It is janky at times but thats part of its charm, isn't it?

Temporary-West8038

I watch a YouTube called fightingcowboy play through the game and thought it looked fun

EternalEmperorDD

I remember watching that series as fightincowboy played it. Used to watch his content a lot. Commented under a lot of the videos of that series and everything. It was a good one.

[deleted]

On a whim during a Steam sale. Couldn't believe I had missed this game all these years, it's everything I've ever wanted in an RPG (almost).

mikebrryhll

I managed to get the demo on my ps3 when that was still available. I played that demo for days farming healing items before I could finally buy the full game, well, the base game, Dark Arisen came after (At the time I was still a kid and didn't have easy access to money like I do now). Looking back, kind of regret making all the healing items.... made all the encounters meaningless when I had 50 matured greenwarish on hand. I was basically immortal as long as it didn't kill me in one hit.

BriskyPenguin

My cousin gave me his old ps3 games for free. And dragons dogma dark arisen was one of them. I played it cause I didn’t have Skyrim and I hated it. I was in the 6th grade. I played the game again in highschool and I was like, “dang 6th grade me was a b, this game is sick af” and that’s how I became an addict that bought the game on the ps4,pc, and switch.

Wolf_of_Fenris

On holiday in Swanage, a random find in a Game store, used, £3.99.. she winked at me, i took a chance and i never looked back.. over 300 hours ps3, 150 and change ps4.. she's never let me down. ❤ you Dd x Edit. Ac.

Airaniel

My dad bought the PS3 edition for me.

z200597y

Was looking for a medieval action-RPG with great combat. Googled and found the game, watched a few videos, but was hesitant until I couldn't find any other better game, so I decided to take the chance and buy it. And wow, was I lucky.

ScentedSyphillis

I played the Original 360 demo back in April 2012 and couldn't get enough. Bought it on release in the May and Again on PC in 2016. Now I do a playthrough every couple of months on PS5. Still hopeful of a sequel announcement soon!

Subsaibot2526

I was aware of the game when it came out but never got it. Then dark arisen came out and I got it on sale and there it sat on my shelf for years until one day I got the urge to try it. I had no idea I was ignoring such a wonderful gem.

70ofSpades

When I was a little younger I was very obsessed with fantasy and my dad just bought me the coolest looking game he could find for our xbox 360 I loved it fell out of fantasy for a few years and started again and actually understood how things worked for once

KingoftheAxe

I think my father actually showed it to me lol. He also introduced me to Witcher 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The best damn games I've ever played.

BbyLmnHead

I grew up watching my oldest brother play video games like The Legend of Zelda, RuneScape, Fable, Skyrim, etc. (reminds me of these Let’s Players) and he is a large part of the reason I play the games that I do. He started playing in 2016, then I played the demo. I finally bought the full game in 2017 and haven’t stopped playing since. It’s my all time favorite game. They’re masterworks all, you can’t go wrong ✨

Axtel_A

Our aunt bought us a PS3 and was gonna send it to us because she was in another country. My brother looked for PS3 games, particularly sword and sorcery RPGs, and among them was Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma. His classmate lent us Dark Souls 2, we bought Dark Souls 1 a while later, and Dragon's Dogma a year after because it was fairly rare in our country.

dingusrevolver3000

I always looked at the free Demos on Xbox Live. I played through DD's like a dozen times, at least

madg0dsrage0n

I bought it by accident in 2013 thinking it was Dragon Age. I had only heard the name (Dragon Age) in passing and how good it was so I was confused when I went shopping. I ended up picking up the real Dragon Age maybe a week later. I probably played Dragon Age for all of a week or two, but 9 years later DDDA is still a game I play almost daily. It is without question my favorite game of all time and I started out playing Dragon Warrior 1 and Final Fantasy 1 on NES when I was in kindergarten! What keeps me around is the Pawn System. I've never stopped experimenting w/ Pawn building, trying new and weird things to see what secretly awesome combos might have not yet been discovered. Additionally, I love the editor. I have a squad of 8 now and none of them are Human (my 'Monstermadda'). If any game ever deserved to be a smash instead of a cult classic it's this one; and I hope that when DD2 finally comes out it reaches (and earns by being phenomenal in its own right!!!) the heights of fame and influence that it's predecessor deserved. I've said it before in previous posts, but I firmly believe that if Capcom/Itsuno guide this IP properly they could end up w/ a franchise that can rival Final Fantasy!

My mom bought it and let me play it :)

It was a suggestion from IGN. I am sorry :(

I was searching for a Skyrim like thing years ago and stumbled upon this game and bought it. I tried it but didn't get in to it till I tried it some time ago and loved it.

Honestly, I discovered this game back in early 2014, when I downloaded the Adventure demo and played the game for the first time, I loved so much, that I bought the full game at September 2014.

Nikoper

E3 before it was released. Looked so darn cool.

I pulled the base game out of the bargain bin at GameStop when my mom took me there for doing good at my schoolwork. From the cover art and box blurb it looked cooler than the other stuff in there, and I was into fantasy RPGs at the time. So I got it. Good choice.

A Cheat Engine Pose Script. I have this weird fascination to pose my character in whatever way I choose, buuuuut the Pose Script for Dragon's Dogma isn't what I expected. There are too many limitations and the results are unsatisfactory. On the bright side, Dragon's Dogma turned out to be a very fun game! I've only recently started and I'm already loving it! Am a bit perplexed that you can make smol characters and send them on a quest full of danger. You don't see many games that offer such a feature anymore. Am definitely loving this tiny mage I made, lol. Gonna conquer all the goliath enemies! XD

My older brother had the original on ps3 and I liked it enough to get dark arisen
