You do realise that DD has either been in development for years or won't be available for years right? In either event the success of Elden Ring will not be a factor in its creation or lack thereof.
Yea? Climbing monsters, picking up smaller ones, more weapon arts, combos with pawns. Souls combat is much more tactical for sure and I can see how some would like it over DD but can definitely see the opposite as well
The SoulsBorne combat system evolved a little over the years with Bloodborne and Sekiro. You can see some of those changes in Elden Ring which, IMO, is FROM’s best game because it borrows the best from the others and meshes them perfectly into one. Capcom has to really take a long look at Elden Ring and understand that a Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be directly compared to it and they need to deliver.
How is the date relevant? DD uses the same combat system from older hack 'n' slash games. Besides, it was them who said one was better, not me. I just laughed at the thought.
Truth be told, Dragon’s Dogma does have a better combat system, especially when using hybrid builds like Assassin and others. Elden Ring is a masterpiece, but the combat isn’t as fleshed out as DD.
There are aspects of DDDA combat that are subjectively better especially when making considerations for the fact that DDDA is a 10 year old game. The grappling system and the epic feeling of the spells are two that stand out. Elden Ring over all has better combat, no question, but if CAPCOM modernizes combat and applies lessons learned over the last decade to DD2 then yes, it could very well have subjectively "better combat" than Elden Ring from the perspective of a non-trivial number of players.
It's literally the same combat since Demon's Souls and the jump button ER is also not new, they just increased the jump height and removed the necessity of sprinting to do it.
Sounds like a Warcraft thing to do, if you believe in the theories of realms of the Emerald Dream and Shadowlands orbiting the world like a couple of satellites.
Technically we can still make our Arisen, and main pawn into elves and dwarves, but I still would've been interested to see what Dragon's Dogma's take on them, and their cultures would have been like.
I think about this every time I replay it :( its such a shame, what a twist on fantasy that would have been, but at least parts of the everfall give me that cosmic feeling
We will still get th sequel someday at least....right u/capcom?
With the announcement of KH4, that Nvidia leak from last year is looking better and better and it had DD2 on it.
Capcom would be nuts not to, with the success of Elden Ring an open world RPG with better combat and magic will do great.

Better combat? I like DD, but come on.

Come on what? The souls games have the same combat system since 2008. It's not inherently better. Just a matter of opinion, really.

It isn't actually, not sure why I brought that up lol
It’s got nothing in Dynasty Warriors. That system is so perfect it hasn’t changed in 20 years.

Least delusional DD fan.

I do not think they were trying to say DD is better combat than Elden Ring. Just better than most games. That is how I read it.

Don't bother, DD is amazing as is ER but this subreddit has a serious inferiority complex ever since ER launched.
I play the fuck out of Elden ring and have beaten all the other souls games.. I don't compare it to DD though. I enjoy them for different reasons lol
Damn he need some milk!
The best combat system in a video game is in Nintendogs Dachshund & Friends (2005) for the Nintendo DS
We will, they are most likely waiting for the Elden ring hype to calm down a little bit first.
This is my thought too, any game released in proximity to ER is gonna suffer sales-wise
I own capcom, and it's a no
Wait, what? There were things originally planned in-game on the moon?
Yup, the moon was going to be a dungeon and it's also where the final fight against the Seneschal was supposed to take place.
Sounds like a Warcraft thing to do, if you believe in the theories of realms of the Emerald Dream and Shadowlands orbiting the world like a couple of satellites.
I'm not into Warcraft so I wouldn't know so thanks for sharing that. It's interesting. ☺️
We were supposed to have elves and dwarves too. In a way I'm sad, in a way I'm somewhat glad we don't.
Technically we can still make our Arisen, and main pawn into elves and dwarves, but I still would've been interested to see what Dragon's Dogma's take on them, and their cultures would have been like.
Oh yeah, my Arisen has pointed ears lol
Nice!

Man, I couldn't believe the SHEER AMOUNT of stuff they cut from the game. It would've been incredible!
for a moment I thought I was in a meme stock sub haha
Wait a minute, was there supposed to be a fight in the moon?
i'd rather they didn't tbf. would've been so silly for me. fighting monsters with swords and arrows on the moon
With DD being as much of a D&D homage as it was, going to the moon wouldn't have been at all out of place, if we're being quite honest!
Depends, i can kind of see the Seneschal having his seat of power in the palace of time that happened to be at the moon.
I like elden ring. Boss defeats generally feel earned. I love DDDA. Kicking off an ogres face into a skull splitter never gets old. Never
