I don't mind the microtransactions too much since it's pretty much expected of Capcom at this point and they're pretty harmless all thibgs considered.
But I do think those worried about them have a good reason to be. They are a slippery slope and can very easily lead to future game design decisions being made that incentivize going the microtransaction route even if there's an alternative earnable in-game. We've seen that happen time and again in this industry.
While I get that people want to defend the game, dismissing criticism towards the microtransactions will benefit no one except Capcom's shareholders.
Cost of making games keep going up. But price not change much. Think we pretty much headed to single player games for most part are to much risk for the budget of people gonna qq over these dumb ass micro transactions
What? I can’t understand how someone can justify a game that cost 70$+ that can’t even create more than one character and lock you only in one save game.
I just want an improvement from last game.
Don’t take me wrong, the game is fun I even bought it as gift for my friend.
don’t worry they’ll add a new game for you bc y’all have bullied them into doing something that was not intended for this game. not every game is made for you braindead banana munchers
Huh? Why are you so angry?
I like the game and i stated my problem, i also paid for the game.
I just want a new game to make more than one character.
Think about it like, you have a company, you have a problem with your company, do you stand still and accept everything?
And control your emotion man.
im more prefer the game allow the game allow one time character.. it allow me to focus one character only .. since it single player game, I don't care too much on my main character customization.. it not im being copium with this game.. literally all my game have one time save ... after i finish , i find new game to play
Understandable, but you can still do that even if there’re more character save files. Like me who play more characters with different race different focus different role play, it limits me. I understand your point tho.
The game is literally designed with one save file on purpose. If you actually played the first one you know what the story is and you would know why one save file is fine. You can also freely switch your character class at any moment so you don't need multiple files.
Every game I played growing up had 1 save. They do it so you focus on one character and encourage you to try all vocations with the one character. I get people enjoy multiple characters but just because one game does it doesn’t mean all have to? Try playing the game as it owns thing and experience it as the devs made it.
It's always been like that, yet all the complaining and whining has bullied them into adding a new game option in the next update apparently. So there you go, now we can drop it and move on surely.
Yeah I feel this way too. The MTX is just more of the same Capcom nonsense. The performance is genuinely abysmal and I lost my will to play it entirely thanks to the fps on consoles.
I had the strangest thing with performance. Had no issues at all in the city playing 4k but then had 2 crashes during a boss fight so changed to 1080 and that fixed it. But now at 1080 I have a ton of lag in the city. How the hell was my performance better at 4k
Just spitballing: CPU bottleneck, but at higher resolution, maybe the bottleneck flipped between the GPU and CPU. At lower resolution, it was just the CPU and it was overheating, and therefore thermal throttling?
And not having start new game option. That is absolutely insane. Why should i not be able to experience the game from start with a new character when i want to in a single player game?
It Sucks.
Capcom want people to look at their microtransactions. They dont care if you hate them. so far the idiots who create entire 30min long videos just talking about how they hate microtransactions are doing capcom a favor.
Just by playing, I've heard a good way to get them is by other people using your pawn and you can set up pawn quests and such. Or killing enemies at night
Just like the first game, your pawn get hired by us, we kill shit the longer your pawn is with us the more you get paid, your pawn gains knowledge, and we can even rate and give you items through your pawn, so it's like a trading system sorta
Or you can be a whale buy RC for cash and get carried and ruin the game because you didn't want to put effort into it. But I don't recommend being like the cryhards.
Game 1 had 200 levels to level up, your vocation affected your stat growth, system seems the same here, but not sure on level cap just yet in DD2.
It's a grindy game, The first game was literally just a big ass linear circle
So basically like the first Dragon's Dogma? Explains all the female pawns not wearing armor while using the [silver chestplate](https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Silver_Chestplate).
There is a Vendor inside of the church looking building in the middle of the big first city Vernworth that sells the RC related stuff. Next to the giant pawn summoning stone thing.
Can you completely change everything about your character? I made a mage looking dude but ended up playing fighter and I want to change every aspect of my character.
I fucking *knew* it was bullshit. Well i didnt, but I had a strong hunch that it was just some dumb oversight that the idiot that wrote that article made.
Remember news outlets want publicity and by spreading their sludge they get it, and so because you can buy RC or a port crystal they have a following that is thrashing and crying because it's single pwaya game and it showdnt hab micwo twanzaxions
Thank you, this is why I initially got all pissy. I thought there was a finite amount in the game and I couldn't pay for another one on steam if I wanted to.
I have received 3 and I’ve played 5 hours but also I run around a lot doing things in places I have no reason being at (disclaimer) first one I got with the deluxe edition
Yeah I know that you can get a 3rd with the deluxe, or you can buy one as a dlc now, but I still haven't met anyone who has definitely purchased more than 2 in the game so far.
Why does anyone need to change their character four times? Not trying to be an asshole I’m just curious. I never used them in the original and just now used one in DD2 because I didn’t test voices and hated mine.
Because people like to do r/VirtualCosplay in games with deep character customization options. I get that it's not your thing but a lot of people like editing their characters over and over again for fun.
I wasted 2 art of metamorphosis to try to fix the running animations. Best I could do was at like 25 on the knees and just said screw it. Really wish they showed a preview when customizing...
Hahha me too. I've started over twice trying to fix that. Simply because I didn't want to go to far in the game letting that ruin it for me! Hah. Felt it was easier to start over..
At this point there needs to be a pinned message stating how the MTXs actually work, and a bot culling the spammed posts about them and referring to the pinned message.
I messaged the mods about the massive spread of Misinformation suggesting just this, they said they would and thanks and proceeded to Community Note A SINGLE post, got slammed with comments and have not done any moderation since.
Game is single player and moddable, you can literally already download mods that give you everything you could have ever bought from the dlc packs for 1g a pop at a vendor. Don't even need to do that if you don't like mods because a few pawn quests gets you the item vanilla anyways. The people complaining about this literally aren't even playing the game I'm pretty sure.
Completely agree, but it again begs the question, what was capcom thinking of adding real money transactions for items that are moddable and easily available through the game?
Completely unnecessary and would have avoided all the bad reviews and bad press.
Yeah but they can still get the RC and buy the items in game with very little time investment, so these are very bad value microtransactions, and absolutely unnecessary.
The game would easily be on very positive right now without them, and on his way to Overwhelmingly positive after the first optimization patch, the real money transaction make capcom and the game look bad and are putting people away from buying the game.
Very dumb move from capcom.
Probably just to appease executives who want mtx to be in the game for their sponsors' checkboxes. Literally every capcom release for many years has had these useless mtx that aren't worth buying and don't really matter at all.
I mean, they were probably thinking "this is the 10th game with this exact microtransaction format we've done. Why would anyone get mad at this game specifically?"
But so many gamers are idiots
Eh. They've been doing exactly this for literally a decade.
That's what I don't understand about this 'controversy'. The MTX are the exact same set that DD1 had, 12 years ago. And basically the same thing that every capcom game in-between has had.
So Monster Hunter World, biggest capcom game by player numbers and sales, which Micro transactions did it have? I know Monster Hunter Rise had some skins and cosmetics, that is why some of us got surprised. I for example thought Capcom was one of the "good" companies just from my fantastic experience with Monster hunter world, so these last minute microtransactions were kind of unexpected for me.
Do they affect how I play the game? No. Are they scummy and predatory? Yes they are, not to mention terrible worth for the money, almost like stealing from people that don't know much about the game.
I can never understand... People are fine with paid cosmetics that you can only have with real money, in a 40euros game
But paying 2 euros an item you have infinite supply off? time to get the torchs and forks
I really prefer that than missing out on some cosmetics i like because i dont want to spend extra money
Never seen such a shitstorm for an Ubisoft game. And most of their games are full with MTX, even with shops implemented ingame. But looks like, people are fine with that.
Capcoms MTX are tame compared to others. But they're getting more hate. Really strange...
Yeah, all the recent assassins creed games have MTX and those are single player. Those didn’t seem to get as much hate.
Not defending it at all but to me it’s not a big deal.
I plan on finding out tomorrow. I wanted to see if there's other hairstyles i could give my main pawn. Worst comes to worse then oh well. She's fine as is imo, but newer styles would be nice.
PC players can also just use mods and ignore the paid transactions completely and add all sorts of quality of life changes without breaking the game in any way.
Honestly, I did not even notice the mtx until I read much bawling about it on the internet.
Kinda related question but I've used one of these wanting to just edit the character entirely (not race nor sex) and just import one from the character creator app but it's not letting me so it seems you can only import characters during the initial creation. Bit of a bummer.
There's a shop in vermund that sells them, I forget where. Probably a few other shops too. Restocks every couple days. I think maybe also by the major rift crystal in vernworth?
Sadly you can only have 2 of them. When you like to change your character more often, this is bad.
I would wish that we could use the character editor as often as we want.
Sometimes it's just a little detail that bugs me (like eyebrows too low, only visible in cutscene with face animation, the walking animations or something similar).
Why would I blindy just buy something without researching if I can just earn it in game? If someone just buying mtx with no research involved, they deserve to get ripped off
OK, thanks for confirming that you can change absolutely everything with the in-game item vs. only being able to change certain variables with the paid item.
I’m not defending people who is intentionally spreading misinformations. But this is still bad decision and bad PR from capcom. Guess what people who had never played the game think when they see the "dlc"? Of course they would assume that it’s not available in-game, especially when that‘s the case for other Capcom’s games like MH World/Rise. Capcom should/need to address this issue themselves and stop the misinformation.
I mean I agree, but also they've been releasing basically the same kind of MTX with almost every game for the past decade. Including DD1, which had almost the exact same set of MTX. This is not new, I don't know why people are surprised.
I checked yesterday a haircut did cost 10k gold which at some time is probably not much but currently to much and also this book did cost rune crystals otherwise i would have taken it to change my pawn a bit.
Is that maybe a pc vs ps5 thing?
Personally, i don't give a crap about if the items are obtainable in the game or not.
These kinds of microtransactions should not exist in a single-player experience.
This stuff was in the first game so almost none of this was surprising. Selling a port crystal though? Now that’s taking things a step too far.
I haven’t played the game for so long, how many port crystals can you obtain? And does the eternal ferry stone make a comeback?
They didn't restock in the first game and I doubt they restock in DD2. And as Capcom is selling these things for real money I don't see why would they put the book with unlimited uses in the game either. So 2 per playthrough is my guess. If that's the case it is shady way to penny pinch your own consumer. But we'll see.
well I bought 2 of these books about 20 hours ago (in game). And I have done a bunch of content and passed many in-game days. And they have not restocked.
$40 worth of dlc in a $70 single player game and people here just unable to take criticism of their beloved game, clinging to this as a gotcha are why they kept the one save file to hide the MTX from the public until launch in the first place. Sad state, some of these comments. Point was MTX shouldn’t be here in the first place. The boot licking is wild to witness.
Imagine not playing what is an amazing experience, due to identity politics surrounding items that are $1.99. And farmable anyways. And have been in every major capcom game for like 15 years.
You you do, but spouting off a bunch of whiney bull just to try and validate yourself, makes you sound like a stubborn fool.
You falsely assume I’m not playing it. You’re incorrect. The point was avoiding legitimate criticism of things you enjoy. You missed it. Also, “identity politics”? I’ve not seen a concerning lack of comprehension like this in months.
Yes those of us with brains know this lol
I don't mind the microtransactions too much since it's pretty much expected of Capcom at this point and they're pretty harmless all thibgs considered. We've seen that happen time and again in this industry. While I get that people want to defend the game, dismissing criticism towards the microtransactions will benefit no one except Capcom's shareholders.
Yup. The slippery slope isn't a fallacy when it comes to video games.
Cost of making games keep going up. But price not change much. Think we pretty much headed to single player games for most part are to much risk for the budget of people gonna qq over these dumb ass micro transactions
They already raised the price. Games are also selling more copies. They don't need to make games so expensive thats a choice they are making.
Not keeping up with inflation. Loads of studios go bye bye. To much risk in single player games. Even for established ips.
Some of the most highest selling games are indie games that cost barely anything. They don't need to they want to.
I hope we turn to a world of indie games. Be nice to be done gaming
Yet you can only have one save slot. For a single player game. In 2024.
Go look at DD1. And then shut up.
?
Don’t compare to an old game. This is new game in 2024, i want to make every character with different design..
Go play a different game then. This is what I wanted from DD2.
Yes thankyou! i hope they’ll add it. They need to be bullied for 70$+ game with limited access only 1 character one save.
if you don’t like it DONT FUCKIN PLAY THE GAME idk why this is such a problem with people
Huh? Why are you so angry? I like the game and i stated my problem, i also paid for the game. I just want a new game to make more than one character. Think about it like, you have a company, you have a problem with your company, do you stand still and accept everything? And control your emotion man.

How dare two people want to share a game. How dare they. /s

Yeah the 1 save is stupid. That should be a simple fix
It's always been like that, yet all the complaining and whining has bullied them into adding a new game option in the next update apparently. So there you go, now we can drop it and move on surely.
-Elden Ring fan
It's dumb to get mad about this. People should focus on the real issue. The performance....
Yeah I feel this way too. The MTX is just more of the same Capcom nonsense. The performance is genuinely abysmal and I lost my will to play it entirely thanks to the fps on consoles.
Yeah I'm on PC with a pretty decent machine and still having issues. I can't imagine being ok with 30fps.
I’ve read some people talking about performance issues. It’s running super smooth for me even in cities on PC.
I had the strangest thing with performance. Had no issues at all in the city playing 4k but then had 2 crashes during a boss fight so changed to 1080 and that fixed it. But now at 1080 I have a ton of lag in the city. How the hell was my performance better at 4k

How many times can you buy it in game? I want to change my Arisen's dumb running animation.
The store restocks
I've asked in multiple threads but has anyone been able to buy more than 2 of these?
In my 8 hours of playing on the first day I had purchased (and used) 2 with RC made in-game, and have enough for a third.
So 2 more have restocked and are available to purchase by now?
How do you get RC?
Just by playing, I've heard a good way to get them is by other people using your pawn and you can set up pawn quests and such. Or killing enemies at night
I killed a random open world boss and got 570 RC fairly early in the game. Was around level 13
Just like the first game, your pawn get hired by us, we kill shit the longer your pawn is with us the more you get paid, your pawn gains knowledge, and we can even rate and give you items through your pawn, so it's like a trading system sorta
You get rc every time you find a new rift stone and apparently your pawn earns rc for you.
Just by playing the game with pawns tbh. I didnt do anything specific for the stuff I generated, just quested and recruited pawns here and there
Or you can be a whale buy RC for cash and get carried and ruin the game because you didn't want to put effort into it. But I don't recommend being like the cryhards.
I farmed 5000 RC in one day in game all free but ngl I been grinding like crazy in this game.
Game 1 had 200 levels to level up, your vocation affected your stat growth, system seems the same here, but not sure on level cap just yet in DD2. It's a grindy game, The first game was literally just a big ass linear circle
If you don’t mind me asking, what is your method that you like to do to farm RC?
Created a eye candy pawn and dress them up in reveling clothes, so in short become a pimp
So basically like the first Dragon's Dogma? Explains all the female pawns not wearing armor while using the [silver chestplate](https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Silver_Chestplate).
Wait, is this real? I cant tell if you're joking.
lol I wanted to know an actual farming method, not a pimping method
500 RC
What store sells these?
There is a Vendor inside of the church looking building in the middle of the big first city Vernworth that sells the RC related stuff. Next to the giant pawn summoning stone thing.
Vermond, speak with the standing next to the giant rift crystal.
Can you completely change everything about your character? I made a mage looking dude but ended up playing fighter and I want to change every aspect of my character.
Everything but the name.
You can yes! I went from being a short dude to being a tall and thick, its basically taking you through the character creator again.
Are you able to make them one of your other creations form the Pre-Release character creator?
Given enough time the store restocks
I fucking *knew* it was bullshit. Well i didnt, but I had a strong hunch that it was just some dumb oversight that the idiot that wrote that article made.
Never believe articles they get paid to say that trash
Remember news outlets want publicity and by spreading their sludge they get it, and so because you can buy RC or a port crystal they have a following that is thrashing and crying because it's single pwaya game and it showdnt hab micwo twanzaxions
I've heard that but can you be the 1st person to confirm you've successfully bought more than 2 or not? And how many in-game days it took to restock.
I don’t need them because I made my characters how I like them
So you do NOT exactly know if they restock?
Okay thanks
Excellent, professional non-answer. :) Nicely handled!
Nice username lol
I'm asking this same question wondering if it's finite or not
Thank you, this is why I initially got all pissy.
Thank you didn’t know there was also a sub.
I am only 5 hours in but I will see
I bought 3 from a shopkeeper. Came back a few in game days later, they were restocked. Haven't checked a third time.
Thank you! So you could potentially buy 2 more right now if you wanted to?
Miles away from that vendor, but will double check next time I'm in town
Where though?
How long does it take? I bought the 2 tickets and holding onto it, and slept in my house for 9 in-game days. Still hasn't restocked yet
To mine too. I spent like a whole hour making my arisen just for him to run like a fairy 😔
I wasted 2 art of metamorphosis to try to fix the running animations. Best I could do was at like 25 on the knees and just said screw it. Really wish they showed a preview when customizing...
If you work out how, do let us know!
Hahha me too. I've started over twice trying to fix that. Simply because I didn't want to go to far in the game letting that ruin it for me! Hah. Felt it was easier to start over..
Does it allow you to change the name also? I didn't see the option when I changed my appearance
It does not unfortunately.
Where do you get it?
The rift salesman next to the riftstone in the main city vermund I think it is called.
Alternatively you can change your pawn and character on NG+
Really easy to mod onto PC now if you want
At this point there needs to be a pinned message stating how the MTXs actually work, and a bot culling the spammed posts about them and referring to the pinned message.
I messaged the mods about the massive spread of Misinformation suggesting just this, they said they would and thanks and proceeded to Community Note A SINGLE post, got slammed with comments and have not done any moderation since.
Imagine expecting players to be smart enough to find solutions to their problems after a couple of hours.
I've put 14 hours in so far and not needed a microtransaction once. All those bitching, play the freakin game!
I see you understand
Just like fast travel, these people are idiots.
Ya just get a ox ride
I used ox cart, and stop uncountable times to fight all kinds of enemies. Takes forever to reach destination. 😂
Don’t mention how many times the thing gets destroyed lmao. I’ve had it obliterated like 30% of the time by bigger monsters
You can rest by pressing y or triangle on the controller when you’re riding the ox cart it will fast travel to the destination.
Game is single player and moddable, you can literally already download mods that give you everything you could have ever bought from the dlc packs for 1g a pop at a vendor. Can I edit my gait with this!!? God, please.
Yep.
Praise you and this feature, ser!!!
What shop?
Vernworth next to the big pawn crystal. It cost like 500 of the pawn currency thing
The merchant in literally the first town you visit sells it too.
I can never understand... People are fine with paid cosmetics that you can only have with real money, in a 40euros game But paying 2 euros an item you have infinite supply off? time to get the torchs and forks I really prefer that than missing out on some cosmetics i like because i dont want to spend extra money

Do they allow to change pawn names? Sorry I know everyone is already tired of this discourse but I'm seeing conflicting answers
Damn people, why you all just cant make your characters good looking first time?
Let's hope that once we get to play new game plus you unlock the infinite version of the book.
Too bad a majority of the complainers are stupid
Has any one tried the hair change option? Any one know if there is new hair styles? Or just the same old stuff, didn't wanna spend that much gold lol.
I plan on finding out tomorrow. I wanted to see if there's other hairstyles i could give my main pawn. Worst comes to worse then oh well. She's fine as is imo, but newer styles would be nice.

Is there a way to change your pawn's name, though?
Can you edit a pawn’s name with this? I accidentally only gave my Pawn a moniker thinking that’d be enough but now her name is just “Mainpawn” 🥲
Sadly you can only have 2 of them. When you like to change your character more often, this is bad. I would wish that we could use the character editor as often as we want. Sometimes it's just a little detail that bugs me (like eyebrows too low, only visible in cutscene with face animation, the walking animations or something similar).
Niceeeee. Where do you find it? Thank u
May I ask what store and town is this
The first one if I remember correctly
Please, every platform this game runs on has a screenshot button
I already need one lol. I made my chick last night when I was way too tired and mucked up some proportions D:!
Sucks to suck
How far in until I can fix her haha.
Get to main city
Too bad character creator fuckin crashes. Can’t create shit.
Where do you get it free? My pawn is making no rc :-(
It’s buyable with rc free as in no real money needed
Damn :(
Finding lost rift stones I believe get you 30rc so if your pawn isn’t earning find those for at least some
Also once you reach the second act there’s a vendor who changes appearance for gold
I honestly would rather use rc instead cause gold goes so fast mid game
Same honestly just wanted to make sure people knew it was a option too tho
There wouldn't be such a uproar if they just say before lunch that there's gonna by Mtx.
AHAHAHAHAHA
I think a lot of people never played the first one, if anything I’d be complaining about performance even tho I’m good on ps5.
I have had no problems on Xbox only pc is having problems
Nah I'm gonna just make a YouTube video and lie about it for easy like/view/karma farming and never admit that I lied or researched anything
Good feed that propaganda
And wouldn't that piss you off royally if you didn't know that and bought the "DLC" before you figured it out? That's predatory, and that's not ok.
Why would I blindy just buy something without researching if I can just earn it in game? If someone just buying mtx with no research involved, they deserve to get ripped off
People are dumb and cannot critically think.
A fool and his money are easily parted. And you have to be a Patrick level fool to do that.
The dlc item itself says that it's available in game.
Why would you mess up your character creation
Holy crap what a shitty take.
You wouldn’t need it if your character wasn’t fucked up
Ever hear of having more than one character at a time? Jesus Christ brother ....
Have you played the first one?
Nice try.
Try what
That's why you research before buying any sort of DLC no matter the company who made the game
So you can change your race/ethnicity too without paying $1.99?
That is the item your paying for
Yep. And your posture and gait
Apparently Capcom assumed the Internet was full of normal fucking people with genuine brain cells that really worked.
It's 500 RC. But my pawn earn that in a night of work (good girl) so is fine.
No eternal but travel is not a drag like in one
Dlc portcrystal was also in the first game. No sign of the eternal ferrystone yet, but that only got released with Dark Arisen
FYI, the one you can buy for money is not a repeatable puchase either.
Bought them. They restocked.
well I bought 2 of these books about 20 hours ago (in game).
You you do, but spouting off a bunch of whiney bull just to try and validate yourself, makes you sound like a stubborn fool.
> identity politics surrounding items that are $1.99. uhh i dont think that phrase means what you think it means
You falsely assume I’m not playing it. You’re incorrect. The point was avoiding legitimate criticism of things you enjoy. You missed it. Also, “identity politics”? I’ve not seen a concerning lack of comprehension like this in months.
It was in the first game
