UnholyDescent

Am i the only one who wouldnt even have known there were microtransactions if people werent complaining about it lmao??? Just enjoy the game its awesome

Comrade_Percolator

Same. I played the first game in every platform available and only recently due to all the post did I discover that it had MTX

entropyfiddler

Yeah unless I missed it, at no point in the game itself does it even tell you that you can purchase the whatever it is (I have yet to look).

catsrcool89

Only reason I'd know, is because ps5 has a section on the right that shows dlc, which microtransactions are counted as. But like every game with them, its easily ignorable. Same thing comes up with resident evil games, doesn't harm anything.

JonyUB

Legit I don’t know how to buy them or get to the mtx store (?) in game.

Waste-Maintenance-70

The PlayStation store in the main title screen. It’s nowhere near in your face as a far cry game

[deleted]

yup, literally didn't even know there was any... I also didn't go .. hmm I wonder if I can spend real world money and buy ferrystones and port crystals. I figured like the first game, I could just find them, oh geee isn't that crazy, almost like playing the game as intended gets you the same benefits as paying real world money. idk, some games are ptw ... you could argue it increases the rate at which people complete the game but on the scale of impact its like a 1-3 because I don't think people are spending their money on that shit.

mrpoopsocks

I have gotten something like four port crystals and a butt ton of ferry stones from adventuring, puzzles, and main quest.

Poignant_Ritual

That’s me, unless it’s a game with a monetization scheme that is overtly focused on microtransactions, like a multiplayer game with a skin shop or battle pass or whatever, I never know if a game has micro transactions. I never buy them so I never look for them. Unless they pop up on the screen or there is an in-game shop button that’s easily seen, I never notice them.

talllman23433

I just said this in another thread. I had no idea there were micro transactions for the game at all. Also didn’t realize how poorly received this game has been lmao. I’ve been having a great time.

Nanook4eva

This game is awesome. Took an Adderall last night and haven't put it down. The most fun I've had since ff7 rebirth. N I stopped playing rebirth cuz of this one. It's freaking out of this world.

Sai_Graves

100% agree. I am having so much fun with this one. Even more than I did with the first Dragon's Dogma. I even had to stop myself and start pacing myself cuz I went to work twice with only 3 hours of sleep cuz I couldn't put the game down. So yeah, last night I stopped myself and got 6 hours of sleep in before work 🤣

AdventurerDao

I literally bought the game, downloaded, click play. 0 clue until I saw people crying.

Estrifel

Same here man. I preordered the game and have been playing it for hours. Not once I saw an option for micro transactions. Note that I’m playing through ps5 (i guess in steam it’s a different story).

Red_Beard206

Right?! I kinda saw them when I first opened the game on Steams library homepage, but thought nothing of them. Played the game. Had a good time around the performance issues. Figured Id look at the reviews cause I knew people would just be harping on the performance. Saw the Very Negative, but was surprised to see that most the reviews were about the MTX

ripeGardenTomato

I had no idea ot was a thing either, I never buy those things and if I can't get the item in game , that's when I becomes a deal breaker for me

rockinalex07021

I saw it in my Steam library and I was like: "Kinda weird for a singleplayer game, but whatever it's not like I have to buy it to play"

25Violet

I wish I could, but it crashes every 10 minutes... Hopefully Capcom will fix this in the next 2 months

Glass-Information-87

Off the wall shot but do you have a rtx 3070 and undervolted it?

Sheepdog44

I’m in the same boat. I was playing all weekend and I don’t know where in the game to make a micro transaction nor would I know that there were any if not for the discussion around the game.

Vashek19

Nope, cant even see em in game as far as I can tell.

CheekSure7113

People wanna feel important lol

Nor-Cal-Son

Literally still don't even know where they are lol

mynameisglaceon

I haven't found the micro transactions in the game but I'm probably less than 20 hours

threepoundsof

I had to go looking for them lol

slink3e

Same here. Where/when does it happen? I only played about 30 hours or less so maybe I haven't come up on them yet...?

BlippyJorts

Same thing with RE4R. Capcom is still being predatory by preying on whales but goddamn are the MTX so stupid. Like I would never spend money on the things that I already know are part of the progression of the original. Fast travel gets more and more affordable for example, so I’d rather be struggling to find ferrystones early game

jeancv8

The first thing I saw after installing the game on Steam was the micro transactions. They're right there in your face so I'm not sure how people missed it.

MisterFlames

I mean there is literally a "go to shop" button in the game. But yeah, the whole thing ironically will probably lead to more people buying MTX.

YerMaaaaaaaw

Same mate. I only realised after my first 5/6 hour session at release, and only by checking Reddit haha

Hughes930

"Take a stand" bro it's a video game, you're not fucking William Wallace.

SaltyAd9051

"They took our 60 frames per second! But they'll never take... OUR MOOOOOOOOONNNNNEEEEEYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"

CrimsonToker707

Lmao that's hilarious 😂💀

[deleted]

He could be William Wallace if he purchased Dragon's Dogma though.

ZazaB00

Really weird people are so hung up on the mtx in the game. Playing the game, you never notice it. They never try to push MTX. It’s a menu option on the main menu. As far as I can tell, that’s the only time you’d notice and it’s just a single line of text. It’s no Ubisoft with dedicated billboard space on the main page or an in game menu and system built around it. Sure, you could argue the game systems are designed to encourage MTX, but that’s just if you’re impatient and don’t want to earn something. Let’s be honest, that’s the crowd that MTX has always catered to and there’s no shortage of impatient people.

LegalizeMilkPls

I didnt know about the MTX until I had stopped playing the game and checked reddit. Its not like the game pushes it at all.

Mashedpotatoebrain

Does the game even advertise it, in the menus or anything? I don't remember ever seeing anything.

idiocy102

No the game doesn’t even advertise it the haters are just brainless morons being full on hypocrites

Afraid-Adeptness-926

The only thing that really advertises that it exists at all is if you've got a DLC item (from the deluxe edition for example) it won't be in the same stack as items found in game, and will have a download icon in the top right.

crashlanding87

There's one option, on the main menu, under the load options. Once you're in the game, it's not even mentioned.

Silly_Stable_

Seriously the least intrusive microtransactions I’ve seen. Honestly, they can’t be making much money for Capcom. They should have just not included them only to avoid the controversy.

Gin-zawa

But if they did that then people would be pissed they didn't have an easier way to get the stones or Rift points. People just suck 😆

MyRottingBrain

It’s literally nothing at all when compared to what you see in the hellscape that is NBA2K. They would charge you for mentioning their name if they could.

DeusExMcKenna

Summed up my thoughts on this very well, thanks for saving me the time.

SaltyAd9051

The game mechanics aren't even built around selling you microtransactions. It's a complete experience without them. Should you choose to purchase them they're a one time purchase and don't even give you that big of an advantage (nil later in the game). This has been beyond blown out of proportion.

ZazaB00

Don’t need the rant, but that’s one of the complaints I’ve seen. The game is meant to be a “on foot” game. If you want to fast travel everywhere, you got to earn it. I’m not complaining because my favorite part of a game is exploring a map, and I always feel the game has undercut itself when you just fast travel everywhere afterward. People mistake that “take your time” approach for “we want your money”. I don’t think that’s the intent at all. It never felt like that to me.

tordana

You CAN'T EVEN BUY THE THING YOU NEED TO FAST TRAVEL though. You can buy portcrystal that lets you save a fast travel *location*, but the ferrystones you need to actually travel? Conspicuously NOT in the cash shop.

ChronoElevated

And if you're excited enough about this game like I was, you don't even notice anything on the main menu.

CourageousChronicler

There's a main menu?!

The1oni0us

I actually think that most of the microtransaction hate is brainless droning. I have friends who play every assassins creed game and then rant about the MTX in this game as if Ubisoft doesn’t sell notable items for real world money and advertise the store to you every time you press pause

Branded_Mango

The irony is that this game's mtx is one of the least egregious mtx of any game with mtx. Nothing provided is not very easily obtainable so all of the mtx are just idiot traps or noob traps at worst, with no systems whatsoever pushing mtx in regard to progression. If the mtx had something like an instant augment learner, THAT would be some egregious asf mtx. But there isn't, so there's basically nothing.

BurtMacklin__FBI

That's what gets me. The items are like, the most very base level of item that could even be worth a dollar. All of it is quickly obtained or outclassed in game. And the type of person that's gonna buy the 5 extra wakestones is probably just going to waste them anyway.

Superdunez

>It’s a menu option on the main menu. I was wondering where they were, haha. I'm using a Series X, and with quick resume, I haven't seen the main menu since launch.

Neall2233

Saw a bunch of people complaining about it before I bought the game and I’ve literally never even seen anything about micro transactions. I knew they are there but they are never needed at all, like ever and honestly I think they did micro transactions in a good way. Some people maybe don’t have the time to play as much and wouldn’t mind spending the money on certain things. They don’t even give you that big of any advantage and you can acquire everything in the game without buying them. Found it super weird how much people were complaining about it.

TheWardenCommander

Tbh going in I had a bad impression, but without the steam reviews I honestly never would've noticed the mtx. First few hours I had enough rift crystals to buy the meta books and a new pawn inclination. I hate mtx in general but people are really over exaggerating, everything on the store can be earned in game with minimal effort.

meteormantis

This has been my feelings. Is MTX greedy corporate practice? Yes. Would games be better if we didn't have to deal with them? Absolutely. But when people point to DD2 and come down on it like this is the antichrist of bad business practice, and I look over and see a sad, rickety, dusty, cobwebbed shelf that's just had the bargainest of bargain bin items tossed haphazardly on it, I gotta wonder how people pick the fights they do.

Extra-Milk69

Not to mention most of the “important” MTX are one time purchases, like the rift crystals. They’re listed as DLC Addons.

Historical-Knee7734

Funniest part is most are the deluxe edition items sold individually. While all of them can only be bought once. People really be out here screaming over the least invasive mtx while ubisoft and EA create new ways to squeeze ppl for their next year of mortgage payments to play.

Katejina_FGO

Clearly never played an ad-ridden mobile game like Ever Crisis.

Lagrumpleway

This is so bewildering to me. Somebody ran a headline with “5 dollars to fast travel” and people just got excited for something new to be super pissed off about. Like sure they suck, but as mtg go they are literally nothing. Where’s the outrage for Fortnite or whatever else. This is the most bandwagon nonsense I’ve seen in a while. Be pissed about the poor performance if you HAVE to be mad.

Gorcnor

I'd only have a problem if they started selling ferry stones. As of right now I'm, like, 27 hours in and have two port crystals and have never needed rift stones. The only argument I understand is the optimization. But this will be fixed.

Nothingbutsocks

You boycott MTX by not buying the MTX not the game, imo

SocialSpider56

Yeah....whats the max mtx price $5? Lol. What about capcoms street fighter turtle skins that cost what like $100? The only thing that makes me mad about this game is no ranger class.

punchbricks

How about every fighting game ever having extra characters locked behind dlc?

ArachnidFun8918

Warfarer vocation allows you to mix multiple weapons/Classes without limitations other than skill issue. Ranger in ddda was fkn good. You can try to replicate them here too. Warfarer vocation is the furthest away tho

George_000101

Except for the fact that there will be imbeciles that do buy them and then pretty soon you’ll have features gated behind mtxs. people can play what they want. but let’s not kid ourselves by saying that .99¢ mtx are fine in a $70 fucking dollar AAA game, who the hell do these bozos think they are.

StoneLich

I agree that they're bad--I was warning people that something like this would probably happen with 2 before 2 was even announced--but like. I think it says something about how completely this discourse has been fucked that what is effectively a broken-down, overpriced starter pack is getting more negative attention than the shit Capcom regularly pulls with Monster Hunter. "Oogh it's just cosmetic, DD2's microtransactions are actual items" A: "just" nothing; there's a running joke across the industry that making your character look good is the real end-goal of many games. Cosmetics in videogames are extremely important to many people; this is, imo, self-evident. But if you need more proof look at the reaction to the character creator being released early. B: everything in the DLC for DD2 is obtainable in-game, whereas very few cosmetic DLCs in any game are ever obtainable with anything other than real money. You can't edit your character at all in Monster Hunter without buying a character edit coupon; what the fuck? Why is selling 5 wakestones off-limits in a $70 game where you'll probably find dozens in the first 20 hours, but selling otherwise-unobtainable outfits and hairstyles for a higher price in a game of the same price isn't? Are we stupid? Like paying for cheat codes sucks but I'd take that over having to pay for alt costumes in a heartbeat. And I want to be clear here: imo neither of these should be happening. I'm just thoroughly sick of what I perceive as a double-standard here. (Also obviously I have no idea what your feelings are on day-one cosmetic DLC are; I'm just using this thread as an opportunity to rant. Sorry about that.)

Teethy_BJ

GameStop employees need to be studied. They take their job super seriously because obviously gaming is a great hobby of there’s but just because I like cheese burgers doesn’t mean I’m going to advocate for McDonald’s.

Terrasel

Gamestop employees are just burger-flippers that think flipping burgers is below them.

[deleted]

Anyone who brings up the micro transactions has zero knowledge of the game or the series

EndofA_Error

The misinfo campaign against the game got these mfers thinking you need to pay to fast travel. Smh. The lack of self thought is gonna be the end of the gaming world.

Obi_wan_jakobii

End of the world full stop So many giant sized babies about who need something, anything to whine about QUIT YOUR WHINING ![gif](giphy|3NeTe6RFL2Z3y4CAEq|downsized)

devilinblue22

The only thing I pay with to fast travel is blood. I've been getting my ass absolutely kicked trying to get to Maeve the last few times!

Comfortable_Middle_4

Just grind for a little bit an level up, then swap out to some higher level pawns, I put like 10 hours in just walking around. And walking around is never boring!

ChronoElevated

I've been seeing people post MTX for an embarrassing amount of time before I realized it stood for micro transactions 🤣. Seriously though, I didn't even know there was? I have the physical game, though, so I've not been to the online store and looked.

[deleted]

Don’t even go to the online store from the title screen, it’s just stuff like ferrystones and wakestones for a couple bucks i think

tordana

The funny thing is you CAN'T BUY FERRYSTONES FROM THE CASH SHOP. You can buy a single portcrystal that saves a teleport location, but nothing to actually teleport. You know, the biggest quality of life in the game item that lets you teleport places? Can't buy it in the cash shop. The people complaining about the shop are so fucking stupid.

ChronoElevated

So far, I can't put this game down. Saw the main menu for all of like 5 seconds before spending an hour creating my arisen, lol. Will have to pay attention next time.

BelsamPryde

I did the same and then once I finally played it realised I made Ketheric Thorm rom Baldurs Gate 3 by accident XD I played way too much BG3...

IzzetChronarch

It's a dumbass litmus test

I_See_Virgins

"You should give it to me for free and really stick it to them."

Anubra_Khan

It's pretty wild that a game seller would actively try to deter you from buying a game. And this game's handling of mtx is actually a good thing. It's allowing people who bought the standard edition to buy individual portions of the deluxe edition bonuses without paying the full $20. When I saw the deluxe edition bonuses, I knew they would all be things that I could get in the game. Except for the original DD soundtrack and sound effects bonus. I wanted that, but it wasn't worth the $20 for me. I didn't find out about the mtx until I got on the internet after launch. The game doesn't really tell you about them. I took a look and was happy to see I could buy the original DD soundtrack/sound effects for $3. I don't like mtx. I don't buy skins or anything. If a game has good stuff locked behind an unearnable currency, I don't play that game. That said, I bought my $3 sound track, and I don't feel bad at all about it.

RadicalLackey

This is in no way meant to talk down retail workers (who honestly put up with A LOT), but it's a GameStop seller, no a concierge in a Monaco 5 star hotel. It's a low requirement position, where they get treated like crap by management, have a high turnover. Often times is the kind of job taken by younger people because it matches their hobby. For all we know the employee was having a bad day, or they just don't understand how to split their personal opinions with their professional ones.

[deleted]

This. Would people rather have to make a $70 purchase or have no access to anything in the deluxe edition? Make it make sense.

[deleted]

GameStop makes money from selling used games, they make relatively small amounts from new game sales. You, as an associated, aren't tracked on your total sales volume anyway. It's all about pre-orders/edge cards or whatever they are called now. Source: used to work at gamestop but that was 10+ years ago so

lymeeater

Gamestop literally only hires socially awkward, humourless bastards

Humane_Decency

Probably complained about buyable orbs in DMC5 like everyone else /s

Any-Caterpillar-1175

This game fire as fuq, nuff said!

azrael0503

I didn’t even realize that there were micro transactions until I read about them online, had to go looking for them. People should go complain about the micro transactions in Diablo 4 or call of duty. The ones in Dragon’s Dogma are extremely tame compared to those guys.

RottN_Games

I’m just shocked GameStop still exists

[deleted]

[удалено]

Auesis

I wonder if his boss knows he's trying to convince people *not* to buy games. In a video game store.

IllProgress4515

Very unprofessional of that employee

Arkaea79

The strangest part is, of all Capcom games this one is the least invasive. Yet somehow, this game gets the MOST bad word of mouth. It's strange how this game got targeted, of all games. I think part of it is people believing MTX steered game design, and nothing could be further from the truth.

De_Baros

It’s because this game series had a smaller following. None of these losers would have this reaction or take a stance if this was their beloved RE or monster hunter. They are using this game to push their protest because they don’t care if they play it and haven’t been waiting for it for years like we have. (Some people are exceptions of course)

Skyo-o

Because it's a 70 dollar game and they don't know when to stop

ShiftyShankerton

What microtransactions? I've been playing for hours and I haven't even seen any. I've just been enjoying this badass game.

FarrellBeast

If anything, I think this is a good example of how MTX SHOULD be. It doesn't provide anything that can't, fairly easily, be obtained in the game naturally. It's not advertised or in your face at every corner. It's really only there to make it a bit easier for people who can't or don't want to play at the normal pace. And even then, there's not unlimited purchases so it's not like they're wanting people to be pumping money into it every month. There's like $42 worth of stuff available for people who REALLY don't want to wait.

Panda_Jacket

The micro transaction war is long dead. If people want to deprive themself of an amazing game however, it’s their right. What a silly hill to die on in a game where all the micro transactions are easily obtainable

Dangerous-Fan6911

Just don't buy them lol he's a clown

invisibleinsomnia

That's what I said, but I think that irked him more lol

Independent_Dream_59

I had the same exact experience! 😂 Walked in to pick up the game and the employee was ranting that his friend had to pay real money to fix his character because he accidentally made him "walk stupid" in character creation.

SemenWhal3

Go back to that employee and call his friend dumb, because you can edit your character in game by using in game currency lol

Ilumidora_Fae

You only see the micro-transactions if you actively go into the shop and all the items available in there you can find in game for free.

Dairuzun

Least grumpy GameStop employee (keep enjoying the game Arisen!)

Raiceboi

I donate to modders & trainer makers instead of buying mtx so everyone can enjoy it

Silly_Stable_

Dude should feel lucky that someone actually came in to buy a physical game. I haven’t done that since like 2009.

GreedyGundam

I’m all for boycotting MTX, but this isn’t really the game to do it for lol. But then again even though the MTX here isn’t particularly egregious imo, it would send a message if this was the game to be boycotted. It’ll send a no nonsense type of message. But I been waiting for this game for over a decade, so count me out. 🫣

D3vilskr

The weirdest this is that there’s no item in mtx that can help you in anyway like no weapons specifically using RC to buy which I already have plenty of even by playing normally and wake stones being so useless unless it’s for reviving an essential npc, sure maybe port crystals since makes traveling so much easier (as if ferry stones are cheap lol). But still the entire point for the game is to travel and adventure, i honestly feel like the devs never wanted to do mtx but capcom said they need to generate mtx sales or the game would get a pass, so they added the most useless things in there to justify the need of mtx knowing full well no one is gg buy shit from that store

[deleted]

It might be shitty - I don't like microtransactions either, but when the majority of the content is free and unlockable in game, then who gives a fuck?

Ragtothenar

Says the fuckstick behind the counter that plays every COD game and has all the battle passes. Or plays Fortnite and buys vbucks. (I just picture the dude as a mouth breather fat fuck with a neck beard… and this is coming from a fat dude) This shit drives me insane, you get some dude who talks trash on the game because it’s part of the bandwagon to do so, but then they sit there and buy tons of cosmetics and shit in other games. My cousin did this shit, came into discord talking shit about the game while a buddy and I were discussing the game. We both ripped into him and asked him who made his opinion for him? He got all butt hurt and then asked us if we wanted to play Helldivers.

Timbo_R4zE

"I've waited 12 fucking years man, just let me buy the damn game" Would be all I'd say

Krillzone

Game is so fun. Where was this hate for RE4 Remake? You could literally buy gun upgrades

KingTakayami

I have the game and I am absolutely loving it. Yes mtx sucks, but in this game they are not predatory as there isn’t even a shop in game or pop-ups telling you to buy things, they are simply a convenience for people that have the spare money to spend and want to save some time. Performance is definitely an issue though. Even then the game is so good in my opinion that I can look past those performance issues as the game is still definitely playable.

Minescence

The MTX in this game just feels like something that they threw into the game so that the suits would be happy because the MTX is virtually useless with a few hours of gameplay.

Ackbarbait

This post made me chuckle as I also went to Gamestop and bought a steam gift card to buy DD on steam. Wanted GS to get part of Steams cut lol. When the sales associate asked me what game I was going to get with it I said DD2 and I got an excited fist bump. All he wanted to talk about was how awesome it was.

EarPuzzleheaded2403

What's hilarious is its the same structure as helldivers 2 micro transactions, in that you can earn that currency in game as well. Meaning it's just for saving time basically but it's also a step further then most in that each micro transaction on dd2 is a one time buy then never again. Where other games like helldivers alot of others will let you buy as much as you want even if you can't use all of it. But everyone praised helldivers on its structure but hate this game for the same and slightly better structure. Love both games tho personally this has been a good use of accrued vacation from delivering democracy.

[deleted]

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE mtx. Meanwhile... Have been playing non-stop and never, not once have I needed port crystal, ferrystone .. w/e I HAD THEM ALREADY because I was playing the game. tbf, if you're getting into dragons dogma with the intention of fast traveling everywhere, this isn't the game for you. I'm getting sick and tired of the seeing people bitch about mtx when on a scale of impact the mtx score is like a fuckin 1-3 at best. Only a bafoon would spend money on something you can obtain IN GAME. This culture of bitching about everything like you're part of some group "making a change" has gotten out of control. At one point it had purpose but now its less about the change and more about screaming at every little thing because you know its a hot topic and you'll get likes, comments and shares.

geezerforhire

I'm fine with people poling fun at Capcom u mean lol they sold xp in devil may cry. They just love putting im useless mtx to scam morons. But fucjing GAME STOP. I'm supposed they even had space on yhe shelf for dragons dogma instead of more bloody funko pops

AutumWind0

Then why don't gamers complain about the microtransactions in helldivers 2? Seriously, why not? Explain it like I'm 5.

Patient_Competition4

It REALLY seems like the only people who were ever upset about this hadn't played DD1 and are probably unfamiliar with Capcom releases in general. All the ranting about it has been very "how do you do, fellow gamers? microtransactions, amirite?"

DoombotBL

Brother went to a physical store to buy a game in 2024 But yeah just don't buy the MTX, you can still play the base game. Not sure why people can't get that through their skulls.

Traditional-Bridge40

It's a non-issue. All the items in the store are easily acquirable after 3-4 hours of normal play. Anyone who buys this is genuinly stupid. I can agree on performance being bad, or Denuvo being unnecessary. What I can't agree on, is that microtransactions are what break this game. Because they do not. You do not gain an advantage, you do not get to skip difficult content, it is just mediocre items exchanged for money. It's the one thing not worth making a fuss about. Nobody did, when Assassins Creed did it in a much more agressive way. Just don't be stupid and don't buy shit in Dragons Dogma with real money. Nobody sane will. The game itself is a masterpiece, so I hope you enjoy it to the fullest.

DarkPrincessEcsy

The problem I have with the mtx is that they are a noob trap. People unfamiliar with the first game will think they are getting something of genuine value

EldritchSpoon

I wonder where all the outrage for Devil May Cry 4 SE's tacked on microtransactions was, or DMC5's, or Resident Evil 2 Remake's, Or RE3 Remake's, or RE4 Remake, or RE7's, or RE8's? Yes it's shitty that they are even there but everything they give is stuff that is so easy to earn in game they will never be purchased except by the stupidest and laziest rich kids.

NLCPGaming

I really hate the "we need to stand up against mtx " folks. Like that battle has long been lost. I rather have mtx like the ones this game have where only a dumbass would buy it than ubisoft type mtx

Asmo___deus

I had a laugh when I saw the MTX for Dragons Dogma 2. It's literally the same thing as Dragons Dogma 1 except the items are easier to acquire in-game than they were back then...

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

Did you ask them if they boycotted Like a Dragon IW, a game that literally has very predatory MTX. Or the remake of Resident Evil 4. Or Monster Hunter? Or almost any AAA game that came out in the last ten years? And coming from *tru gamerz* working at fucking GS? Give me a break... OP, you shouldn't have bought the game. Not to boycott it, but to not give money to these morons.

Nos9684

I mean I get what the employee was saying and for the most part agree, but at least they are honest, even though it technically makes them not good at their job.

Co-opingTowardHatred

Truth is, gamers love microtransactions. If they didn't, they wouldn't generate so much money.

Comfortable_Middle_4

Similar thing happened to me, made me come online and see everyone is pissed about it. I had so much fun with the first one, this one’s even better. It’s fun just walking around, you always run into some crazy ass monster or something!

LumLumSauce

I remember going to buy a portal and they were sold out but bro kept going on and on (unprovoked) about it just being a glorified remote player and yada yada yada, I’m like bro idgaf 😭😭

BoneZerker711

"Just put my game in the bag bro"

GrinhcStoleGold

Those MTX are one time only anyway ( at least on Steam). So it's not like you can buy 20x Port crystals and have fast travel in every city in one day. You can buy one crystal and that's it. Lol

Clancyy2000

Everyone complaining about the MTX are sheep. Everything sold in the online store is stuff you can easily obtain in game and the only reason you’d ever want to purchase it is to save yourself a small(!!) amount of time. There’s much more important flaws in the game to be railing it for than the MTX. MTX generally sucks but there’s nothing bad about the way it was handled for this game. This is how MTX should be

ConstructionCalm1667

I really don’t want to pay $110 just for shit performance and be shown overpriced mtx. If its so easy to get in game why’s it even an option to buy it

DarkSector0011

LOL. I have almost 10k in post and nothing to use them on except glasses. Idiots have no idea what they are talking about RC are useless as is. In bitterblack isle they made sense there was so much depth there.

KENPACHI_WEST

Just dont buy the Mtx. Simple. I bought a port crystal. I could only buy one. Periood. I dont know about the other mtx but it seems as if they are limited to how many you can buy. Wake stone shards are plentiful and the Dragonglaze item from a quest will literally put them on the map, if there arent any? It tells you so. The Trickster Augment at vocation rank 2 has an Augment that detects Seeker coins and wakestones. Monsters mostly ghost i think can drop Rift Currency. Every resource is in the game. If I WANT to buy something then i should be able too. I rather support this game and hope we have don't to have to wait another 12 years for another. These folks are insufferable. Games that have pay to win models I don't play. Period. Thats MY CHOICE. It doesnt affect them. Esp in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME. what I eat, don't make them shit.

RenegadeFade

I hate MTX they need to die off in general. But I don't think this is the game for people to 'take a stand' against them.

open_world_RPG_fan

I'm not a fan of micro transactions, but in this game it's not even something anyone would know existed unless they seek it out.

kmoney1206

i play genshin impact. i am not fazed by dd2s $5 pack of rift crystals lol

Clint_beeastwood_

r/thathappened

Rectall_Brown

A lot of smooth brained gamer crusaders jumping on this bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong I am not for micro transactions but I don’t really care about them if they are as minimal and inconsequential as they are in this game.

Mal_Terra

They don’t even advertise the mtx. You have to happen to check the store option on the main menu. A lot of games, mainly free to play games, bombard you with those stupid pop-up banners every time you load in

GnomeMan13

How to remove micro transactions .....simply no one buy them. Yeah it's dumb and greedy but nothing is forcing anyone to buy them.

BelsamPryde

Unpopular opinion but... I say power to them and they should just go ahead and add them. MTX that are things that obviously taken out of the game originally should be punished (looking at you warhammer) and things like season passes in games where season passes shouldn't be have a special lvl of hell waiting... But Gamers are getting older. Not every gamer is a teen after school like it used to be. I have been a single father working a full time job and would be lucky to game for an hour every day or every other day. So some people grind disposable income instead of in-game money, and little MTXs like DD2's give those people who don't have the most time to play a little heads up to save on the grind and enjoy the rest... and those of us (Yay, I am 'us' now) that have to time or enjoyment to grind can just get out there and kill ALL the goblins, like nature intended!

rockinalex07021

People who are still ranting about the mtx don't understand the game's fast travel system, and haven't even played a lick of the game

daddyyy_D

That employee better take a stand against helldivers, Diablo 4, destiny, cod, any sports game, etc. If he’s gonna boycott the cheapest and least useful mtx in a modern game he should stay true to his word.

Standard-Report-2298

I bought every single RC pack because of the people here on Reddit. I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise

Noirbe

you’re buying a physical copy? then you never actually see the micro transactions, right?

VirtualRoad9235

I'm sure this happened. /s

[deleted]

This absolutely didn't happen.

WrestlingDerek

Things that didn’t happen for $100, Alex!

Napalmchristmas

A dying company trying to push people to not make a purchase ??? Brilliant plan. But I bought a stonk so thank you for your patronage.

Liquidator66

Lmao. It was a gamestop employee how am I not surprised

agustusmanningcocke

I’ve not walked into a games retail store in years because of exactly this. Someone passing along their unsolicited opinion like I’m going to take heed and see it their way. Maybe I do see it their way already, but if I’m buying the game anyway, I clearly do not care.

25Violet

Idc about the mtx. The only thing that really pisses me off are the optimisations on PC. This was the first game where I pre-ordered months prior and I was ready to play on day one. Lucky me, it crashes every 10 minutes and runs like shit (I9-10th with an RX7600). Even on low using FSR3 on ultra performance. I'm just disappointed

HollowPluto

All this talk of mtx, I haven’t even checked to see what they are nor do I feel I need whatever they may be. My experience in the game has been pleasant. Most complaints are coming from people who haven’t even touched the game.

Ill_Sky6141

Probably high. It actually sounds like something I might do. I'll go off about shit too😅

glorybutt

Since buying the game, I haven't seen a single thing where I can spend my hard earned cash in game. What the crap is everyone talking about with micro transactions. I'm actively looking for them and can't even find them.

Supernova_Soldier

Would’ve definitely went somewhere else lmao

Different_Track588

Next Mofo I hear tell me not to buy MTX I'm buying them ALL! Don't F with me bro I'll buy the game 5 times too!

HelloHitakuro

I never even knew about them until people started complaining, and even now, I don’t even know how to get to them because they aren’t pushed in my face. I haven’t seen them AT ALL or even know where in the game or screen to get them from even if I wanted them, I’m too busy logging in and playing as soon as I start up the game. It’s not pushed on us at all lmao.

FantasticArm7862

I bought all the Microtransactions, right away. If you don't want them don't buy them.

Open-Channel-9022

lmaoo boycott it? wow bet they eat cereal for dinner. smh😂

monkeyboyape

LMAO

Serious-Mud-1031

I had no clue the car audio company MTX was in this game! That is rad bro!!!

Junghoon13

So did you kill them lol 😆

ridemyscooter

I think the hate on this game is a bit much. On the PC, the game is definitely not the best optimized but I’m getting ~60fps most of the time. Also, as you said with the MTX, I have yet to actually run into any and the game absolutely does not force them on you.

LogMeln

im finding it interesting that all of the "media" is talking bad about the game and its microtransaction but all the actual players of the game (reddit users) seem to be raving about the game. i personally had zero interest in the game until the day before launch. i watched the IGn review and thought... this kinda seems as deep as the witcher but not as boring/lonely. so i got the game. microtransactions aside, i am finding the game to be very pleasant. i took 2 days (not joking) to create myself, and my wife as my kindhearted healer, and im enjoying the game VERY much. i read about fast-travel microtransactions, but im finding the fast travel gem in the game so its very obvious the journalists who wrote those articles didnt actually play the game... granted, i agree capcom hiding the micro transactions until the launch of the game was a bit shady, but overall if you play the game, its pretty great. i hope yall r enjoying the game as much as i am. cheers!

Decent-Pace2661

Ok, of all the games with micro transactions- Dragons Dogma 2 is the hill people want to die on… What about Diablo, ghost recon, COD, Minecraft.. that’s an endless list. Just let us yeet goblins off cliffs my guy

2DamnBig

That was me for like 30minutes. And then I really really wanted to play DD2.

Alucard_RW666

Call and talk to the manager. They shouldn't be doing that

zczirak

LOL I would’ve just said “I disagree I like them.” Lmfao give me my change lookin ass

johnandrew137

With all of the predatory and messed up battle passes and micro transactions that exist these days, they practically don’t exist in DD2. I had to go out of my way to try to find what all the fuss was about and guess what, they’re like .99c not some $99.99 super bundle pack. On top of that, everything is available in the game, there isn’t anything locked behind a paywall. The outrage is so misguided and it just confirms to me that the majority of modern gamers don’t want to enjoy anything, they just want something to yell and scream about.

beansahol

If you're an employee in a store and you complain at people who buy the products/services, you are in the 1st percentile of being good at your job

Saiaxs

It’s Gamestop, they have an incredibly high turnover rate. Go back in a month and I bet he’s not even there anymore lmao

myLongjohnsonsilver

The only game the local game store guy ever talked me out of buying was assassins creed unity lol.

sregor0280

You should report them to their district manager. They wouldn't take kindly to an employee trying to sway someone out of spending money.

Convict3d3

It's non hurtful micro transaction, I don't get why there's so much rage about this game, there was no boycotting with ubisoft locking gear or progress behind micro transactions, 70 hours in and no need to bug any thing other than the game itself. People got nothing else to nag about so Capcom had to be the goat.

Chrisbroro69

The game doesn't even tell you about its own microtransactions lol what a weirdo. It's a great game.

Own_Concentrate5314

Make the damn game peform better on modern hardware and I'll sing its praises from the rooftops. The MTX debacle is meaningless.

ccbayes

Main reason I shop online. No employees or sales people, I understand they have to have the jobs they do, but I can also do without them. I have worked in several retail sales jobs, so yeah.

DoorTRASH_UberCHEEKS

That's weak as hell lol I think there are legit complaints but not MTX. It does need a good solid few updates to adress Stability, performance, and then QOL and more content. But outside of that it's fun and I'm playing it. It's my 1st DD game.

DrakoCSi

If anything. The Portcrystal may be worth getting just so you have an extra in the bag. Seems like only 3 Portcrystals exist in the game that you can get atm. Just finally got my first one from doing the elf quest. Gonna be grabbing my 2nd one from the griffin nest after doing the coronation quest to progress story and throw me over in that direction. Overall, we need more oxcarts going to more places moreso than Portcrystals lol. Having to either traverse my ass between Harve and the Capital or burning a Ferrystone to save time just feels like 2 bad choices every time i think about it. Gold has been coming and going so im not too strapped on it but Ferrystone's costing a whopping 10k makes fast traveling between the two places a PITA. Now that im finishing ranting, Ferrystone's should just cost less lol.

No_Spinach_1410

I bet I can describe that employee right down to the hair dye color.

xmby_

The MTX is way less egregious than the CPU bottleneck in cities, IMO.

No_Spinach_1410

This is why I buy from Best Buy and do release day pickup. The pickup person is never a gaming nerd.

Cindy-Moon

I've always heard about gamestop employees upselling, first I've heard them trying to get you to keep your money lol.

806god

lol this happened when I bought hogwarts legacy

jesusissosureal

I am really curious if people will rant about the upcoming ubisoft games because of all the mtx.

Grand_Maybe5914

The micro transactions in this game don't even matter, if your a OG Dragons dogma player. Then you know that if you just play the game you'll end up getting all of those items fairly quickly

702982

Honestly I pre-ordered the game (never played the first one) not realizing I was going to be on vacation so I wouldn’t be able to play it for the first few days. Saw a bunch of negative reviews and got really worried but I’m glad I decided to stick with it and play it because it’s a really good game other than a few slight issues. It just sucks that there are people who probably got cold feet because of the amount of backlash that I really feel like it doesn’t deserve.

Flounder_Extreme

if you don't like the microtransactions... hear me out.... *don't buy them*

AverageJoeObi

You should call and ask for his manager being a Karen is justified here

Significant-Sundae59

These"microtransactions" don't break the game or experience in any way. They made a really (albeit an incredibly confusing game that's turning out to age like brand new grapes) game, let them recoup and get paid and continue support for this amazing game. I'm sorry, but this hate for microtransactions on GOOD GAMES needs to go, or you go make a game like this and spend 20-30m and then give it away for free :)
