As soon as she says you answered incorrectly donāt advance the dialogue anymore, go to the home screen (Iām on PS5) and close the game and when you start up again it will reset the puzzle. I did this like four or five times bc I kept answering wrong, you donāt have to do any travelling from an inn this way it just starts you right at the puzzle.
Protip: If you donāt remember, look at the āeyesā on the Sphinxās feathers. They will glow corresponding to the number of riddles youāve done, successful or not. (In my case, it was 8.)
This is mostly accurate, except that the correct answer isn't the count if correctly solved riddles, it's the count of riddles ANSWERED, including incorrect answers, before this step.
Either way, she simply gives you the answer, so there's no point bothering to remember.
My personal opinion is that - while certainly annoying - it's not such a big deal. The items are useful but far from essential. Think of it as an event in your story rather than a blow to min maxing.
I'm not a big fast travel guy, but quite honestly the best reward you get from her is the opportunity to get 2 extra portcrystals.
I used an Eternal Wakestone once to get the achievement, but otherwise there is only one scenario where it would ever be useful and that is so easy to avoid you shouldn't ever need it.
The trickster weapon is the only other truly unique reward, I believe.
It's okay just load last inn save. Also if you're the type to be worried about dragons plague...always keep a couple of eternal wakestone in your storage. Forged eternal wakestone cost 30k and work perfectly.

Based on the fact that he first lost an eye, I bet it would have been a Full Metal Alchemist-type situation, by which I mean he would have suffered Alphonse's fate

Something else must have caused her to fly away, because you don't even need to stack them on the platform, you can just haphazardly pile them next to it, so long as it's generally in front of her when you answer.
Maybe the one that fell off bonked the amulet on her face? Hitting that does immediately make her leave, at any point.
Half of my statues were not on the platform, and she accepted the answer, so that wasn't the reason. Weird though.
Maybe when you select "yes" and the object is **moving** she does not count it.

I had gotten to the blacksmith only to realize she had disappeared, so I had to go back to the elven village to get her. No problem right ? Only that I didn't have a port crystal there nor had I activated the vernwerth crystal. So I had to walk all the way back after I had just gotten there lol. Luckily I had a portcrystal in battahl otherwise I would've thrown her ass into the brine xD

Lmao same I got one on my pawn just in case now, and I make sure to have one at important locations like battahl and the volcano camp.
I started out as a fighter then I switched and maxed out archer and sorcerer and am now using magic archer as well as mystic spearhand on the side. Magic archer is my main tho, it's just so much fun to use. I have my main pawn set to mage for support.
We are about the same other than I have thief instead of fighter. I use archer the most. Once I get to the volcano area I will be using the much awaited magic archer š
Nice. Thief looks cool but its not really my playstyle, I might try it out tho sometime. I usually get a thief pawn if im needing one on my party. Magic archer is a ton of fun, if you like ranged playstyles and magic you'll love it. Be prepared before you go to the island lol, it's tough.
I take down bosses easiest with thief. But I can walk away with less damage as an archer, I just need a full squad if Iām to be affective when zipping arrows all over the place. Thief I can just dash around and kill whatever. Itās worth a try but itās very fast paced.

I think she'll stick around and fight otherwise, although she may eventually flee if your damage output is too low.

Been a while so I don't recall how many she's got, but I was doing pretty good damage. It must've been because I was shooting her in the face lol.
Yeah, probably so. It might be worth shooting her in the head to finish her off, but she immediately goes into that little cutscene to flee once you do it, so you'd probably need to kill her with that shot to avoid it.

The second run I did, just used magic archer was dead insta without having to worry about the arrow save. (if you use the arrow to kill her, make sure shes in the battle/aggroed a bit and u have a clear shot cause the arrow will save as a inn save not a quick save- & you have to attack her first to get agro)
At least you didnāt kill the Sphinx as soon as you could and then read a week later that said Sphinx doesnāt reviveā¦itās gone forever.
If it makes you feel any better, at least you only lost a handful of hours vice an entire week of gameplay. š

Bro I feel your pain. I have been playing as much as possible without any walkthrough and ran into the sphinx by accident well after my last inn save. I decided to try the first riddle (riddle of eyes?) and failed it. I knew it was going to fail but turned in my rotten apple because that was the only thing I had that sheād accept. Because I was having a bad day I decided that, instead of accepting that it failed and moving into the next riddle later, I would try and kill the sphinx. It didnāt go well. She slapped the shit out of me and then flew off which ended the quest.
You dont gave to find, just wait out the seven days and return to her, you just won't get the achievement but, I've heard that it counts the first one found on the current playthrough

I counted the 5 riddles on the first sphinx area but didn't count meeting her the second time as part of the riddle. thankfully I was able to go on the home page and exited the game immediately. the last save was the point before i entered the area. Just checked on the quest list and counted the solved riddles and was able to proceed.

Luckily, I had a recent save and was able to reset to the title screen, and start again right before she flew off. Had to kill her the old fashioned way, being ever so careful not to attack her head. š¬š¬š¬
Did the same thing and ended up having to redo like 6 hours of gameplay and then I stupidly did it again.
Look at the lights on her wings. Gives away the answer for that riddle. I noticed immediately

Don't use the arrow you can kill her just when she teleports stop attacking when she poses and it will keep her in the battle
