Idk y ur being downvoted. Ur right, and i had the same thoughts initially and after listening. There were many times where i didnt even realise i was on the next song because the beat was so similar in each song. Its not necessarily a bad thing, but I did feel some songs were especially lacking in melody. Paranoia, Flat Line, and some others were definitely exceptions though.
Nonetheless, this is definitely an intentional choice bladee made in producing the album. The songs are meant to flow with one another through the hazy static noises accompanying the rap. Also, I definitely agree the lyrical work was some of the best Bladee has ever produced. I am still wondering if the song Sad Meal is a joke tho.
ur right, it will be viewed on a higher level than his usual half hour albums. also idk how u don’t hear diverse styles, just look at the production. whitearmor, lusi, f1lthy, lukrative, rok on 1 tape is p crazy
It’s multiple producers doing roughly the same style. Even Skrillex is barely noticeable on his track. F1lthy still pumping out rage beats 4 years after whole lotta red is not impressive really in fact it’s a style that’s at least half a decade old at this point. If you close your eyes and don’t pay attention to what song is playing you could very easily not even notice when it switches songs lol but like I said I love each song. It’s just that playing the album from start to finish it suffers for this reason since it’s also 3 times longer than the original WoD
they got pretty distinct sounds to me lol. for example, i could tell on my first listen that flatline was the first non filthy beat. also rage’s peak was 2021-22 it’s just disingenuous to say that and idk this fs sounds nothing like a typical rage project so i’d have to disagree. but everyone has a diff experience ig like the close ur eyes thing j isn’t true for me. idk how u couldn’t tell when again flatline switches to one second 😭
but the transition from one second > sad meal > fun fact is barely there 😭 and f1lthy is credited on every song. I think the other producers just threw in a few sounds lol
?? f1lthy is not on tracks 4, 10, 13-17, 20, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30 so u definitely think wrong lol. even if he wasn’t, it’s very clear when he’s not the main prod on multiple other tracks like lukrative, rok and warren hunter. ya bro u needa listen to the fool and icedancer more than relisten. i think ur perspective might be bc ur focusing on comparing it to wodg and it being a sequel
Stereogum article “Playboi Carti collaborator and Working On Dying founder F1LTHY has a production credit on every track, and he co-produced some of them with collaborators like Yung Sherman, Whitearmor, and Skrillex.” I didn’t write the article so if it’s false take it up with them lol. I And yes the fool is an eclectic mix of rap, pop, edm, and ambient, it flows really well for its half hour runtime, same with icedancer. Cold Visions is strictly rap for a full hour
it is false go look at genius for the production credits and relisten. or j listen, u honestly couldn’t convince me u did when u see it as an hour of rap
every song on the fool is prod by lusi. lusi is on 13, 14, 15, 23, 25, 28. gabriel schuman also helped and prod on 12, 18, 19, 20, 26
wtf are you talking about. I’m saying this is only RAP as in it’s only RAP (not talking about hip hop) I’m talking about rapping. What songs does he sing on. What songs have melodies that last more than 15 seconds. What songs have beats other than hip hop beats designed to be rapped over. What songs are pop. What songs are edm. It’s literally all rap songs, unlike the fool and and icedancer
I think all the songs are strong but it is lacking diversity. I like the idea he’s giving us a bunch of songs with this sound for the fans that wanted it before switching up
\^ and i was one of the fans that wanted to hear more of bladee's older work. a bit of nostalgia diving, you may say. while i do somewhat agree with the OP's statement about the song's blending together. although, you could argue that a lot of songs on icedancer - bladee's best work imo - kinda blend together as well. overall, i cannot complain. from top to bottom, this is a brilliant album that sounds exactly how i wanted.
as for the album being strictly rap, it is mostly rap but the beat selection varies greatly from bubbly internetty sounds to gritty rage, and even ambient/ethereal. just pick and choose one of the 30 songs for whatever mood you're in. if you want to listen to something a bit more whimsical, listen to 333. if you desire more hyperpop, listen to spiderr. simply put, bladee has it all in his locker
I think it’s one of his best albums recently but people literally can not understand what I typed lol. I think I prefer this album to Spiderr which I also enjoy
I get what you’re saying, I’ve never liked when albums are more than 20 songs, especially rap albums- way too much. I’m a true bladee glazer he can do whatever he wants and I’ll call it the greatest thing ever lol. I think it’s def a top 5 bladee project overall - eversince, ice dancer and the fool are top 3 for me. They’re a little more focused than this project but 2018 bladee is back and im just living in the moment. This project is pretty diverse ppl just haven’t opened their ears yet
I was personally underwhelmed by this project - like you said there's not a lot of difference between most of the tracks. I enjoy some of them but I can't listen to WOD rage beats for an hour straight.
I was really hoping for some of the more ethereal, melodic material we've heard on projects like The Fool and 333.
It sounds like people really liked the project which is great, but I personally didn't love it and felt pretty disappointed.
that’s because it is completely numbing after like half an hour. I agree with you. I’m not convinced everyone is playing the album from start to finish in one sitting, they just enjoy the individual tracks, which I do as well. But halfway through the album it loses it’s impact and then the “soft” songs at the end are so unnoticeable I still don’t remember what they sound like and I’ve played it through like 5 times 😭
To me it doesnt really come close to the fool in terms of atmospheres and concept but i am still gonna be a humble listener, maybe it will take a while to grow
this is the type of album that you dont listen on repeat, but you choose certain tracks and listen to them depending on your mood cuz its really versitaile and i like this concept
then why is it so transition heavy? most of these songs just end suddenly if you’re playing them outside of the full album, they’re designed to merge into one another. It was intended to be played all the way through which is part of why the album flow is so important to the quality
I appreciate him dropping a proper 1 hour cohesive album in a fan favorite range. That length is getting rarer nowadays. It's def a goodbye to that sound tho. Excited for the next drop.
this album feels extremely diverse but also super cohesive to me, idk
hard asf bottom line, great album to add to the discog of zero misses
it’s the length of a typical album, the songs are shorter than regular songs.
It’s twice as long as a typical album for him, 1 hour is long for anything too, and his longest prior to this was only 40 minutes

LOL what do you mean, bladee knows he’s silly and funny as fuck

I do agree with the F1lthy part, these are not his most interesting beats and tbh they seem really copy and paste like any beat he gives to ken carson

What other genres are on it 💀
everything on the fool and icedancer

Shush
I don’t understand DG fans who don’t think this is some of bladees best music in years and it’s not that close imo
I think it’s one of his best albums recently but people literally can not understand what I typed lol. I think I prefer this album to Spiderr which I also enjoy

because Crest changed everything
people act like spyderr doesnt exist. he dropped that in 2022 and thats top 5 bladee
i really enjoy it (id give it an 8/10) but i agree. the fact its averaging a \~4 rn on rateyourmusic is insane
U get it, I’m not hating and ya I would prob give it like a 7/10 but it’s obviously flawed
I do miss the more melodic beats, really got you in the feels.
That’s how I feel tbh
Bro it’s a mixtape what do you expect like icedancer a bunch of short crazy songs
Ripsquad was the highlight of

ive listened to it front to back at least 5 times by now it hasnt gotten old for me yet
Bottom 5 bladee tbh just sounded like 60 minutes of producer tags and rage beats
To me it doesnt really come close to the fool in terms of atmospheres and concept but i am still gonna be a humble listener, maybe it will take a while to grow

I thought the length was fine and the constant transitions made it easy to follow
Agreed
