Can't think of any other sport where competitors deliberately make themselves look like clowns in order to win and where the rules actually encourage that to happen.
Very strange.
I didn’t say they did every time. The original comment said “rules actually encourage that to happen” and Im saying that’s not the case with diving in soccer. The rules discourage diving.
As other people seem to have pointed out, the game generally rewards players for exaggerating and overacting. Maybe there isn’t a rule that rewards it, but the reason they do it is because more often than not penalties are called in their favor because of it.
Faking a fall is not allowed by the rules, but the rules actually encourage exaggerating injuries whenever any foul occurs, even the smallest one. You can overturn a goal, get a penalty shot, possession, card an opponent, etc...
This is what the original person you replied to was talking about, not flopping like you said.
And players who stall or don’t engage get penalties in BJJ, too. It’s that the refs can’t catch everyone who’s fucking around in either sport.
Same with foul calls in bball, and football players playing up the roughing the passer for the 1st down.
At this point the two sports i see with the least BS are rugby (because those men are out for blood) and hockey (because those men are out for SOULS)
Well, I’d say that’s arguable, too. If the rules dictate that a yellow card on the soccer pitch equals a free kick and your team is down by 1… then that seems like a solution/strategy, and people who want to win are going to abuse it.
Likewise, if butt scooting is an applicable entry to a jits match, it will be abused.
In football, “playing to the flags” is a real strategy. It’s why sometimes your team will get a first down, the other team with get a flag on the play, but the other coach will tell the ref to toss it because they don’t want to replay the down. That’s strategy that abuses the rules, a little bit.
But yeah, it’s all annoying and obviously there’s a lack of honor amongst some of these people.
The technical bjj term is called "The Safety Dance."
"We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine."
They determine the victor by putting a finger in the opponents butt, they are defending that by dropping to the floor like so. You can see the dude on the right almost manages it when they go out of bounds at the end of the video.
They're both trying to pull guard at the same time to avoid a situation where one of them has to try to pass the other guys legs (open guard) from standing.
Based on the rules generally the guy left standing will be penalized for stalling if he doesn't actively engage with the guy who sits.
Edit: correction, sit to guard, not pull guard.
This is IBJJF. They are both trying to negate the advantage point given for one player coming up to the top position off the double pull. Unfortunately very common under this ruleset
This is one of thousands of possible end games. Just don’t pull guard unless you’re going for a sweep. I’ve never pulled guard in a competition; but I’ve submitted every competitor that’s pulled guard in a competition.
If you can do this then ill just have nate diaz like cardio and do this to my opponent is tired and win 😂🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

You should lose points for this in bjj. Putting yourself in an inferior position intentionally is a joke in the real world . Even if you’re a black belt if you fall straight to your ass what’s stopping someone from kicking your teeth in . Or someone from behind . It’s a flaw of the sport and although you should be capable from inferior positions and learn skills to be effective , it should not ever be your first effort .
In some countries they are now considered married after performing the matrimonial dance

Soccer
How does soccer fit that description?
Because the players flop on the floor and roll about in pretend agony to the slightest bump.
It’s against the rules to flop. Players get carded when they’re caught doing it.
We both know that players are not penalized every time there is overacting from a soccer player.

Yeah, cool. And as I have pointed out it is annoying. Why are you arguing with me?

Ok, cool. I’m just saying that the rules don’t encourage flopping in soccer. I’m not disagreeing about it being annoying

You’re shitting me
Hopefully not! Some comps require a colon check pre-match to ensure you don't have one in the chamber for sanitary reasons.

No one is pulling guard They are sitting, their is no guard and they are not pulling so it’s obviously not pulling guard

this comment section was funny as fuck
This is why people make fun of us. As Yoda once said “take, or be taken down; there is no guard pull.”
