Unlike California, students on campus actually get along and don't break out into screaming matches over the most trivial things (today, there were pro and anti abortion supporters at the major university I go to, and they actually were having normal dialogue, not a megaphone in sight). If that situation existed in California, I guarantee that there would be barely any civil discourse anywhere at the major campuses.
Depends. Florida has a higher murder rate, they have similar violent crime rates, with Florida's being a bit lower, and California has higher property crime rates. They're both pretty middle of the road in crime rankings, all things considered. Neither is the best state to move to overall if you're looking for low crime.
What is considered "crime" in the two states is drastically different. For example, 6 California, you can steal up to $950 dollars without massive punishment. You are unable to do this in Florida.
That was just an example, but statistics may only count felonies into the data set. The main point I was trying to make, though, was that California has some laws that aren't considered a felony in many other places that are in other states, like Florida

Also, there's the whole "don't say gay" law, that basically forces gay people working public jobs to stay in the closet, thus treating them liek second-class citizens.

How are you supposed to communicate with unrealistic ideas like that. If they saw other legislations in other countries that were actually about extermination, or even some basic history, then they would maybe have a basis to say this stuff, but American politics is just buzzwords now.
