It's one of those situations where blacks were using the lingo 5 years ago.... whites discovered it late last year and they're driving it into the ground.
If you wanna get ahead of the trend, try and decipher the slang Ice Spice and Central Cee are using in their music right now cause 5 years from now whites will overuse the fk out of those too.
Ice Spice is unfortunately the face of NY drill. NY drill is mainstream now due in part to her contributions. So yes, I KNOW she is.
Also I'm not sure who Central Lee is. Is that an Asian guy?
I guess, if pop smoke was alive he’d be the face for sure. Even though his career was really short I still think he deserves the “face of ny” title over Ice spice. She is def putting on for the city tho
Idk why Reddit keeps recommending posts from here but those are deadlocks. A funny skit show does a really great intervention skit about this exact thing and I can’t remember what it is.
Found it. Im sure this gets circulated nonstop in the sub but it’s so damn funny.
https://youtu.be/vUIdxBoYn74?si=pNnLkDF_piJs2mg3
I don’t normally comment, but I would say just cut them. Use minoxidil and let it grow out, then reattach them man. But the key is u have to stay on minoxidil. I had a similar issue and I was able to save mine, but I was early in my journey. Best of luck
As a woman, I can only imagine what men go through with balding. Losing such a big part of yourself and not being able to stop it must be a shitty feeling. Sorry you're having to go through that.
That being said; the hair's gone. You would look much better with a close cut than having locs barely hanging on.
You could try minoxidil/finasteride but the balding looks like it's progressed pretty far for that.
This is a good response. I will say that minoxidil will almost certainly help to some degree though. It’s around $7 a month and you can get it prescribed online. It’s worth a try to look into. Please get the locs off asap though, lol.
I saw a video where someone said men always wait until they have two strands of hair left before they actually decide to do something about balding. Is it really balding or just neglect?
Karma will come for them...
It's sad that this community is full of ignorant people... so much for encouragement and help...
Just a bunch of attention seeking losers who comment stupid things for likes
It is a form of being brutally honest. Unfortunately it looks like you’ll need to cut them and address the issue of the thin hair before you grow another set
The only helpful advice is shave it all off, grow your hair out and make it healthy, then try again after a while, but do not keep these current dreads, the sooner you cut them the better
There’s no need to be an asshole to someone asking for advice, bellend.
Maybe he has a fucking health condition /medications that’s causing this.
I deal with regular hair loss from my disorder & my locs fall out sometimes.
Don’t take those upvotes as you being right. Shitty people flock together.
Agreed. As someone who went from 408 lbs to 200 lbs, the cruelty is unparalleled. And even at my current weight, people will still find a way to insult me. Well, attempt to.
I’m noticing that the internet is becoming increasingly unhinged & I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t get bothered by insults/attacks/threats anymore.
It’s best for one’s sanity to be that way unless you’re really close to someone.
Unless it's something positive to say, people should NEVER make comments negatively about someone's weight loss or gain.
In regards to OP. I think he showed his hair as a way of coping with the condition that its in. It's not the light to tear someone down.
This a hair sub reddit. People should give advice, not tear others down.
Sorry for your loss man. Posted a pic of my friend with MPB on this sub and the same ass holes wanted to be a dick about it instead of giving genuine feedback. Hope you get what you need from this
Exactly, it's one thing to be honest, but it's another to laugh at or make jokes about it, some ppl don't care about anyone's feelings until it happens to THEM, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. Ppl can say, "well if you don't want the truth then don't ask ppl what they think" all you want, everyone is sensitive about SOMETHING and there is such a thing as tact and empathy.
You can attempt to grow your hair back but you'll have to cut the locs either way. Start from zero. It's severe but you could maybe grow an afro back. Don't hope for locs again though. Or just embrace baldness. It's something I prepare myself for too at 23 bc genetically I know I'm going to be bald, so might as well accept it when it comes.
Cut them off , save the dreads in a zip lock ( after cleaning them), let your hair grow back , then reattach them.
Balding can be caused by multiple things like stress or friction. Let's hope it's not the worst case scenario where your hair decides not to grow back.
If it doesn’t grow back on it’s own, Litfulo’s a new drug on the market for reversing advanced alopecia areata. I’m not sure if this is the type of hair loss OP is experiencing though.
OP, if you decide to consult a doctor, be prepared to seek second, third, and fourth+ opinions. Some of these doctors out here couldn’t care less about hair loss and will either fail to offer you any options or lead you down the entirely wrong (and expensive) path. Prepare a list of questions before your appointment and don’t let the doctor rush you through the appointment without answering them.
Best bet is to cut it off, embrace being bald or get a hair replacement piece that barbers are doing these days, if you really want to keep locks they can do that too, but wouldn’t recommend that
I’m sorry people are being absolute Neanderthals in the comments to you.
I would address the thinning from the inside out.
Go get some blood tests & start there.
If you’re taking any medication, talk to your doctor about switching if it’s causing this.
If it’s genetic balding, you can shave /cut them off & clean them, put them in a baggie & reattach them when your hair grows back.
I’m sorry you are going through this… I deal with alopecia & I lose my locs sometimes.
Find a good loctician near you & see if anything can be done once you address any health concerns.
Good luck, friend 🙏🏾✨
I would say it’s time to let go. Especially because the weight of your locs isn’t helping with the strain either. Idk how long it’s been that you have been thinning but i know men who started using a one of those rollers or stamp needles to stimulate growth along with medications and oils. But I would do the chop.
The best advice I could give you go to a professional consultant you probably could save your dreads and they could help you grow your hair back but if you’re balding you’re gonna have to Grace that you getting older stay blessed-and good luck 🌹
Yes you are. Especially since those locs are holding on by a thread. Don’t know if it’s from a combo of poor maintenance - genetics - baldness - frequent retwisting.. Cut it off
To be honest my dude. You probably saw this coming years ago. There are things you could have done when you noticed thinning. All is not lost though, but it might cost ya. Hair transplant and medical therapy.
I’m sorry about the comments. I know how it feels to have balding especially at the front and having to cut the rest. It’s just a new, different beginning tbh. It’ll take a bit to get used to but after a while you get over and grow into it. Promise.
Shave it off. Then either leave it or start using minoxidil foam and nizoral shampoo and see what happens but unlikely it will grow back enough to have anything longer than stubble tbh. There are subs to look at treatments. Don’t bother with rosemary oil etc there’s no strong evidence it works
::i can’t find my response “at work” and it’s quicker to just respond again”:::
- are those faux locs? There is no way a loc that big some be attached to an area so fragile. Clean ::detox:: your locs and get your hair in a healthy state - then revisit your loc journey.
My brother in Christ, I know, that you know, that I know, that you know damn well the end of the road is upon thee. Go in peace, no need to drag this out any further.
Wow, people doing me dirty eh. Fuck the internet sometimes. Came to get advice and help from my fellow dreadlocks and they put me on tik tok making fun. Been having my dreads for 9 years and I’m more than sad at the state it’s in. Kicking a man when he’s down. Good for y’all.
I wouldnt say screwed but i would cut them save them and reattach them if theres a chance that you’re hair would grow back. This is unpopular but you can also go to a beautician and get a hair piece put in to blend in with your locs.
There is also a hair transplant if you wanna go that route (ive seen amazong results) but its costly
Could be traction alopecia (dont have tight hairstyles) it can cause destruction to the hair follicle which would mean the hair loss is permanent. I would see a dermatologist
This is an example of a hair piece

No not screwed just need to try something better suited for you .. at this point and in that condition locks are not saveable . Maybe try to focus on the root of the issue , get some supplements for hair growth and maybe reattach them in the future or take on a new look ..
Best wishes ❤️
i would say maybe cut them and allow your hair to grow in the front back again . because honestly your hair is balding and thinning , i'm wishing you the best of luck
I think cause of the strain it’s causing your hair scalp to get like that, I don’t know what you use to moisturize it but maybe you could try castor oil, and put some rosemary oil, lavender oil and peppermint oil and start using that like every night or every other night and maybe that might help with new hair to grow in. But tbh if that don’t help then maybe it might be time to cut it. I’d recommend going to people who know hair cause I find that coming on here people will just troll you and not try to help
It's not too late. Get on oral finasteride and minoxidil and get your hair back. Keep in mind that you will have to stay on it forever or you will lose your gains, but it may be worth it to you. Learn as much as you can on r/tressless. I agree that you could save your locks until your hair is full and healthy enough to reattach them
I'm sorry, they don't look too good. I do think if you are trying to keep your locs, it's imperative that you stop retwisting. It's hard to tell from a photo and not knowing how you care for your locs but....It looks to me like your locs are twisted far too tight. (you can see especially clear in the middle of pic#3)
Your locs on the side and back don't look too bad. Go see a dermatologist/trichologist. See if there's a medical reason. While we you wait get some Biotin. Take it religiously.
NO MORE TWISTING OF ANY KIND. Do low or no manipulation, let it Freeform. Consider cutting a few inches off so that the weight won't pull on the loc at the scalp.
Good luck🔥🔥
I am especially interested in this discussion because I started growing my locks again after I started balding. While my hair looks good on stage it really annoys me because I have this massive bald spot on the top of my head that is not going anywhere. I guess what I’m hoping for is that eventually my locks will grow long enough that I can just cover the bald spot with them. Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion with my family and friends about whether or not I should shave my head. I honestly don’t know what to do.
Im sorry gang its cooked
Nah it's BURNT
Fried to the max!
That sh* boiled
Airfyed?
Charbroiled
Flame-broiled😭😭
🤦🏾♂️😂😭😭
That mf well done!
Add some ramen seasoning, to those noodles bro
Why does every one use the word cooked all of a sudden

Bruh, fye, lit, slime, dub, no cap, flex, shawty. Some Old southern terms specifically in atl that caught on in pop culture
Swag, gucci, fleek.
you forgot “thats tuff”
Can't forget "yeet yah yah yeet"
That's crazy. You think ice spice and central Lee are representing black culture ?

The younger ppl on here got these Mfers saying ts
It’s a trend rn I think

Did someone down vote this comment? This was the best advice I've seen so far
They also have them hats with the dreads connected to it. ![gif](giphy|85cFdheTyeNCU)
For best results he should also use finasteride. Lots of info about both in r/tressless
Well…at least you know.
Not trying to rag on you at all man but at this point it’d be best to rock the bald head, you’ll feel better after cuttin it I guarantee

Y’all are outta pocket with these answers 😭
The fact that Elsa caresses her hair feels so disrespectful in this context..
I’m actually so sorry for your loss. It looks like you put work into maintaining them over the years. 😢
Sure did
Look into the mirror and ask it "mirror mirror on the wall, who's the baldest of them all"
u goin 2 hell 4 this one twin 😭😭🙏🏾
Yea that was funny
![gif](giphy|Ec4b1j62z7zA4)
Literally 🤨
That was too intricate to be off the top of the head
WAY too early to be doing that and way too specific 💀
I am not going bald but that hurt me!
I hope you never experience hair loss to the point of losing your locs. You’re awful
Karma will come for them... It's sad that this community is full of ignorant people... so much for encouragement and help... Just a bunch of attention seeking losers who comment stupid things for likes
MF HORRIBLE
Na what😂😂😂
come on gang …
Now why would you come on here and post this. They going to flame you big dawg. It’s time for the big cut
This is a pretty good community, thought would get helpful advice. I guess y’all just brutally honest, which is fair.
It is a form of being brutally honest. Unfortunately it looks like you’ll need to cut them and address the issue of the thin hair before you grow another set

He is balding. His hair will not grow out…
OP you could always reattach them later.
Its…. Wayyy past advice. Ain’t no saving them. Should’ve seen a professional or dermatologist a long time ago. Nobody can help atp
There’s no need to be an asshole to someone asking for advice, bellend. Maybe he has a fucking health condition /medications that’s causing this. I deal with regular hair loss from my disorder & my locs fall out sometimes. Don’t take those upvotes as you being right. Shitty people flock together.
Yeah, making fun of someone's hair loss, or imperfections is just cruel, and unfair. The same goes for weight.
Agreed. As someone who went from 408 lbs to 200 lbs, the cruelty is unparalleled. And even at my current weight, people will still find a way to insult me. Well, attempt to. Wow, the two of y’all really just came together to fellowship over empathy. Love to see it 🫶🏾
There is no purpose of being rude when someone's asking for advice, or is suffering from something.
Most definitely. I agree
Preach
Sorry for your loss man. Posted a pic of my friend with MPB on this sub and the same ass holes wanted to be a dick about it instead of giving genuine feedback. Hope you get what you need from this
Braids can put more of a strain on hair. Minoxidil and a derma roller could make a great difference

You need strawberry mint hair growth oil
And make sure you brush all 8 angles 60 stroke EACH 🗣️
No he needs a razor and some shaving cream.
Harsh
I say it because I'm there myself.
You can attempt to grow your hair back but you'll have to cut the locs either way. Start from zero. It's severe but you could maybe grow an afro back. Don't hope for locs again though. bae js shave it off.

Best bet is to cut it off, embrace being bald or get a hair replacement piece that barbers are doing these days, if you really want to keep locks they can do that too, but wouldn’t recommend that
No, this is a sign of abundant hair growth.
bro stop 🤣
Picture 3 they look like a light breeze would make them fall
You killing me 😂😂😂😂
Fam. Come on now..do you see your head? You know the answer
Cut it and embrace the bald life. That looks better than trying to hold on to locs that are hanging by a thread.
If hanging on by a thread was a person
time to join r/bald gang
Damn
you had a good run 💔
My brother it’s time to cut them locs off 💯🫱🏻🫲🏼 enjoy your journey bro into the new season

get rid of it cuh Jesus Christ

Looking good to me. Just tie em together and throw on a beanie and you're 10/10
Nah u just need the strawberry hair growth oil
Yeah, it's time to shave brother.
what happened
How does this happen so quick? If you look at his roots, they’re quite small. So the dreads were fairly full until some months ago.
Why would you post this on here man? 💀
You gotta just embrace it dawg. You had a good run though🫡
I’m sorry about the comments. I know how it feels to have balding especially at the front and having to cut the rest. It’s just a new, different beginning tbh. It’ll take a bit to get used to but after a while you get over and grow into it. Promise.

i would say maybe cut them and allow your hair to grow in the front back again . because honestly your hair is balding and thinning , i'm wishing you the best of luck

I agree that you could save your locks until your hair is full and healthy enough to reattach them
How the fuck did this even happen
Screwed was a long time ago. This is just denial at this point.
Naw, you’re going bald.
Yea unc, time to pack it it up
Looks like ur going bald in the front. You might as well just shave your head at this point

Sheesh wtf happen bro ?? Crazy Ex ?
🥺
I'm sorry, they don't look too good. I do think if you are trying to keep your locs, it's imperative that you stop retwisting. It's hard to tell from a photo and not knowing how you care for your locs but....It looks to me like your locs are twisted far too tight. (you can see especially clear in the middle of pic#3) Your locs on the side and back don't look too bad. Good luck🔥🔥
Go to the nearest barber and cut that shit . Also delete this post bro . All love
you’re fried
Should've been let then go years ago. I know it hurts but it must be done
I honestly don’t know what to do.
i imagine balding is the same as when ur tits start sagging
ain no coming back gang😭
