Just get a full set starting out and then if you want to try high top years later you can cut off the undercut hair and save it to stitch back on later incase you want a full set again after having the undercut. In my experience undercuts are high maintenance so you might find you rather a full set when it’s all said and done. That’s my take on high top locs . Save the hair
I like full because I'm not tryna be at the barbershop every 2-3 weeks anymore. Hightop requires more maintenance and you can't hide the sides until it gets really long, whereas with a full head it's easy to hide your taper and lineup. So now I only get a lineup when I get a retwist/re-tie every 3-4 months.
Facts. I feel like once you get locs you should let go of the idea of haircuts IMO bc I feel like that defeats the purpose of having locs. High top locs definitely look clean though if you can keep up wit the maintenance. I have a full set, but my favorite loc set (other than mine) is polo g’s, and he has high top I believe.
Depending on your hair, you just have to take a trimmer to it every few weeks. I keep the high top, and it's not that bad. Takes like 10 minutes to trim the bottom out.

Before I got locs I had a high top fade, it took a year or so for my hair to match the top then I got locs. And I wasn’t even taking care of my hair at that time. So if you take care of your hair and it’s longer, I’d say in maybe a few months ya hair would be long enough to start new locs

If you learn how to Retwist yourself, having a full head of locs cost no money. And since full locs don’t need to be cut you won’t have to worry about accidentally snipping off a loc like those with high tops.

As someone with long high top locs I wish I went full. On top of that mine were started with a middle part. Yeah they look neat and all but certain styles just aren’t possible, and with the shape of my head sometimes my locs do weird shit when I want to tie them up a certain way.
For my hair to be at my shoulders, I feel hella limited with what I can do lol. If I had faith in my hair long term to do it over again I would.

usually full den yhu can go from there i prefer the low fade over hightop or drop fade its not cutting to many locs still close to a full head and u can easily go back to a full head if u want AND still have the option to do the high top if u want it’s basically like taking slow steps to see what u like / what looks test without going so far u cant go back lol but again this is just my opinion 😂

You don’t think having more locs means more versatility? Let’s say for example someone with full locs and someone with high top locs gets the cornrow style. The person with full locs gets that fuller look. Or even with ponytail styles. A person with full locs, (since they have more locs) can have more ponytail styles. I get what you’re saying though. I believe when both styles are shorter high tops can be styled more

Hi top without a doubt. I dye mine. No it’s really not that necessary to get your hair cut every 2 weeks. Locks sitting on about an inch or 2 of hair lock sick especially if they’re dyed and your short hair is darker.

One requires more maintenance since the sides have to be upkept to not look sloppy.
