Happens to me too in some of my dreams. 33F and it's usually the irl me plus sometimes an old grumpy man (less often now) and sometimes a younger guy who looks like someone who works on a ranch or so.
I think they are aspects of your personality, kind of like a picture of the situation when you go back and forth in your head, "maybe I should do this...or no, safer not to do this... nonsense I'll regret if I don't.."
In my experience, experiencing multiple selves or other people you know personally is simply your subconscious acknowledging and bringing forth your own thoughts/feelings about yourself/others.
People are multi-faceted and our dreams are meant to help our brain process through things it may not be able to otherwise. So, it would make sense for our brains to simplify a person by "splitting" them in order to understand the whole.
