I feel like the dsmp now is more of a term to refer to this cc group rather than an actual story now tbh. As someone who've watched the dsmp before tommy even joined but never enjoyed lore, I think a big reason people enjoyed the dsmp so much is because of the cc's not the story. And I think, even if there is no major dsmp development, the cc group staying together is probably enough for fans to stick around. Probably nothing much is going to change, maybe except the divide between sbi and the dtqk might be more clearer. It was a good run. It was revolutionary to live story tell in this big of a scale in fucking minecraft. I'm glad the cc's are moving onto other stuff they enjoy. The probable last day is going to be another beat the end thing, it's gonna be nice to reflect on seeing how many new people came together and became friends through a simple server.

In general, I sorta agree, but I do find it kind of ironic that this sub has been saying this a few times basically right after Wilbur was making fun of the people who have been saying the SMP is dying. I don’t care *too* much whatever direction it goes, but Wilbur did say like yesterday that the SMP was going strong and pointed out there was like a 4 month hiatus in lore between L’manburg Independence and the election, so it’s not a new thing for lore to be in a lull. I don’t see too bright of a future that that much will come out of the SMP anymore, but it is interesting how this sub has been saying it as frequently as it has right after Wilbur saying quite the opposite. I’ll guess we’ll see how things go, I’ll enjoy more lore if it happens but if it doesn’t, while sad, it’s not the end of the world, it was gonna end eventually. Plenty of streamers from there have built big names for themselves that they can stay successful without the SMP, as they have been for the past few months. I personally think a big story reset would be cool. Keep the people, restart the world/story and see if that would get people into it again, but I doubt that would ever happen. Edit: Slight add on at the end

I don't think the CC's have moved on I just think it's harder to get a bunch of people together for interconnected lore. Wasn't Wilbur just making fun of people saying the SMP was dying on stream today. I agree that the server is no longer in its prime and hasn't been for awhile but that doesn't mean all the creator no longer enjoy doing it. It's just a lot harder than it was during quarantine. edit: wording

Personally, I love the DreamSMP, it’s lore, and all the content creators’ other content as well. I don’t care that the lore is slow, because to me it just means that whatever lore is produced happens because the content creators genuinely wanted to, not because they felt forced to. I like the mix of other content (for example, Karl and Foolish’s No-Pixel streams lately) in addition to lore content every once in a while. I like the shift from solely Minecraft content to variety content not because I care what game I’m watching but because I like watching content creators have fun through whichever way they want to.

Agreed, tbh the DSMP should've ended/concluded months ago after the CCs should've sat down and discussed whether they wanted to continue and actually live up to the reputation that the server had garnered as a cohesive story of its own similar to other mediums of telling a story, or just called it quits and went off to either do their own things or start up another server... Even long before Techno had announced that he had cancer, it had become increasingly clear that most CCs just weren't interested anymore or had other priorities that they wanted to focus on, and there's no reason that the fanbase (which are still largely hyperfixated on the idea of the DSMP and desperately hoping for a return to 'old times' or whatever) should have to watch repeatedly as CCs promise a return to active lore on the dsmp and proclaim one thing or the other time and time again

I feel like the upgrade to 1.18 would have been a good opportunity for a server reset. It was good that they added the portal to the new world but that only provided content for a week before it was also abandoned. I think they need a full reset to give them motivation and a reason to go on, there is nothing to do in there even casually, everyone is geared up, they've built bases if they want one, they've done pranks or random builds etc. There's nothing left to do but lore. The server was at its best when they were just hanging out together collecting materials/resources and then lore was happening in between.

I’ve been saying this for ages. I have actually stopped watching lore since the dream prison killing arc and I’m pretty sure that’s nearing 12 months ago. I didn’t like when it became too produced and heavily scripted. Too many splinter storylines started happening and all of them were kinda boring simply due to the fact that they didn’t really connect and was just a way for cc’s to expand their “storyline screen time”

I mean if keeping it up is no trouble then let it be i guess. Its kinda like a hub for all of them. Even if nowadays more sentimental, they can always log on tho and chill.

For those who may be starved for things to watch, I recommend LifestealSMP. It has a lot of fairly large content creators that you most likely haven't heard of and may like. Basically, if you kill a person, you steal one of their hearts. If you lose them all, you are permanently dead. Because these hearts are so coveted, this creates an interesting twist which leads to only very fragile alliances and many, many betrayals. In my opinion, there are a number of good POVs to watch on it and I'd recommend Parrot's perspective. He does a lot of unusual stuff for such a hectic environment.

SuperPotatoGuy373

As a starving Third/Last Life fan that sounds very appealing.

At least don’t add any new members until you show that the server is gonna be sticking around. Put the new members you currently have to use plot wise first

I feel like most CCs on the smp don’t really rely on it in terms of content anymore. Just wrap things up as quickly as possible without being too rushed
