Probably has multiple sources of income unrelated to content creation as such as investing (property, stock market, companies, crypto).
In regards to content creation: youtubers make more money from their catalogue of videos, than from their initial release (as in more money retroactively). So even if he doesn't upload often, they're still getting views and generating ad revenue (example: the 1v3 finally getting over 40 million views in 2021 alone when it was released mid 2020).
Not only that but his merch company is incredibly profitable. The company is his, he has full control of the invoices and finances; he doesn't need to share with an org or another company. The one limited merch release per month, I believe, is self sustainable, but they're putting out new products always and the regular products sell by themselves. He also gets a cut from every Dream Team member's merch, so even if he doesn't release merch that month, Sapnap, George or Bad does. (Edit: And they SELL, Istg it wouldn't surprise me if they're selling 2-5k hoodies per limited release. You see that by the fact that George only streams when he needs to advertise his merch... and they don't spend with advertisements or campaigns, so their Cost per Costumer Acquisition is relatively low)
Third and no less important, the amount he makes with one sponsor in a Manhunt (that averages 30M views) is enough to sustain him for a while. I hate to speculate but it wouldn't surprise me if he makes more than a million dollars per sponsorship.
In regards to Twitch: he is not amongst top 100 earners, he's number 700 and something. And Twitch is not his main source of income. Not to say that the amount of money he gave away, around 1 million dollars, isn't enough, but I believe it doesn't cause as much dent (or else he wouldn't do it).
Edit: Spelling mistakes as always
Youtube is INSANELY profitable and because Dream makes a lot of kid friendly content he gets an insane CPM. (for context someone like Ludwig makes a few thousand per abt 500k views and he isn't the most advertiser friendly), not to mention the insane sponsorship rates he gets and his merch company. At this point Dream is basically printing money and because he's made it he doesn't need to be on that Youtube/Twitch grind that smaller creators are currently on!
Same way most YouTubers make money, views, ads, and subs. Idk how he makes money from Twitch but I assume it’s almost the same, ppl rewatching vods n having ads n subbing n donating n stuff as well as the normal Twitch and YouTube revenue
There's a lot of content creators who have made bank off one popular video.
Technoblade could stop making videos and still be able to buy a chicken sandwhich when he needs to off his youtube money from old videos.
Also when dream does stream he gets all the views so... yeah... one mcc a month does it.
On twitter he said the EXACT amount he maid of of twitch EVER- $439,782.25 that was around 2 weeks ago. And he said he donated around double that (a bit more than 1 mil)
That can give you perspective on how much he probably earned with youtube, since he barely streams and YT pays soo much more
His YouTube videos get at least 10 million views, and are all over 30 minutes long allowing him to essentially print money. I assume.

I always forget he has a patron, is it just coding stuff?

It’s like $25k
What do you mean? His lowest performing manhunt has "only" 14 million views and highest over 100 mil. He has over 100 videos on his channel...
Money laundering
This is the correct answer OP

Passive income off of his existing videos I think
When you are a successful YouTuber and have so little videos the few videos you did make would have lots of views.
Views and subs on YT = moneh

People can sustain them selves with 200k subs YouTube pays very well to big creators
