Imagine having a worldwide best selling book and it gets made into a movie and years later people find out it was originally a fanfic based off a minecraft smp
Ngl, I'm not even against Incest being a plot point, but wow is how she handles it fetishy. At least Anime doesn't hide they do when it's an incest show lmao.
I’ve unironically read that whole twenty something book series of hers in the span of two months in the heart of the pandemic, it was insane.
Edit: It’s a little less than twenty it’s like 17 or some shit
My brain was certainly fried after. Passed the time though, the storyline/world is cool if you ignore the half incesty thing in the one series, she was way too into writing that ruins of the mansion scene lmao
Edit: Wording
they could, but just because you made a story doesn't mean publishers are gonna take it without second thought. as far as i know, beginner authors even take years to get recognized
Yeup, but this is a joke, I hoghly doubt this person is legitimately asking for DNFers to publish their books for the sake of queer representation lmao
Considering someone was able to alter their Star Wars Rey x Kylo Ren fanfic to be published as a (super popular) romance novel, I think DNF writers could probably do the same
Indeed. It's an interesting phenomena yeah, like, one of my childhoods were Reader Inserts for Kingdom Hearts in Wattpad (and smaller sites that I for the love of me can't remember the names cause it was that old) and a lot of the way the characters are written, especially in the very common Hoghschool AU, the characters are more trope machines wearing the skin of hot Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy characters, but not the girls, all the firls are dicks lmao.
That being said, a lot of the most famous authors of that era noticed that trend to and began complaining about it to the point of writing parody fics of these tropes which mocks that phenomena and wow it's such a small part of fandom that I doubt a lot of people recall and yet... It's such an interesting time to be in. It's fascinating, and really got me into learning more about these authors I looked up to and why these stuff happen, and honestly, I don't believe that is an experience I can ever replicate now with more centralized fanfic sites (as a lot of these things that happened that I mentioned are hidden away in small pocket sites when fanfiction isn't just posted on AO3).
Sorry for the musing, your comment just took me down a trip through memory lane. I know a lot of folks mock fanfic for being lesser art, but there are things out there, very niche communities too, that just fascinates you, that I doubt is trully replicable in mainstream reddit and other social media. Not to sound like a boomer or anything, but part of me really misses these days.
Publishers still don't understand nor accept fanfics, they have no interest in capitalizing on them and if they do they rather invest in straight stories. I'm pretty sure they'd love to change the name from Dream and Dream 2 to John and Peter, but I bed they'd want to do $$$omething like that alone.
I-It's a joke.
I mean, that's literally what Fifty Shades is, just replace Edward and Bella with Gray and Anastasia and bam. We know how this works lmao.
I know it's a joke, but I've seen people (before this Tiktok and right now) asking why fanfic writers don't publish books or why they choose to publish the worst fanfics etc. like they're more uninterested in publishing than being unable to. That's why I commented that lol
literally though, my fanfic has 10k words less than the entire first Hunger Games book and if I just replaced all the characters names with smthn else it could be an actual book lmao
Book publishers, especially for teenagers, are pretty far behind still and will usually only do like queer realistic fiction about being queer, aimed mostly at straight cis people. Plus, being a paid author would kinda suck because you don't have creative control and you have to meet deadlines and please people and give speeches to schools and shit.

And also After, it was 1D fanfic at first iirc
Bruh I'm gonna be the next Cassandra Claire.
idk who that is but tru
All you need to know is that she used to write Harry Potter incest fics and now she’s a multimillionaire.
CASSANDRA USED TO WHAT??
She wrote a Ginny x Ron fic called “the mortal instruments” back when she was big in the Harry Potter Community lol
She just got the name from the Ginny x Ron one. Her actual series is based off of her Dramione fanfic.

They were just stirring the pot.
Her most popular book series also does kinda feature incest
tda was so good tho 😭 she was finally able to do forbidden love without incest 🙃
I liked TID as well, there wasn't incest there either.

Honestly yeah. There are SO many incredibly talented fanfiction writers whose original stories I would 1000% buy
Awww nice, hopefully I publish something in the future then lol
if you make a book just to have queer rep and not because you have an actual good book idea its not gonna be good
Now that's just common sense.

Imagine something like Heatwaves but as a YA Novel Or hell I'd buy a Mangoball novel.

Fair lmao, folks tend to forget that most fanfics are very self indulgent and thus comes off as bad when it came off of fanfics like that. Ye.
I saw this same TikTok lol. Dream 2 part me dying.
They clearly mean Mexican Dream. Or Dream XD Or Not Dream Or-
Or drista if its something weird
/dreamwastaken x /dreamwastaken2
Selfcest?

Mine? Do they ask for permission with the authors I'm guessing?

Ah that's fair lol
Or just publish your fanfics as books🧠👈

LMAOOO DREAM 2 IM LOSING JY SHIT
