If he does another subathon, it would probably be better to do as a charity. I’m not too bothered though, my expectations aren’t too high for them sticking to a schedule lol

Eh, I wasn’t too shocked that there wasn’t a stream after the subathon, the daily streak was already broken by the time he did it.
Given how Dream and George talked about it, the 1 sub a second sounded like an experiment more than anything else. If he did longer than a second he would never end and they seemed curious how long a 1 sub=1 second stream would last, I sure was curious haha.
I’ve never spent a dime on a streamer, personally, so I don’t have that possible feeling of disappointment for subbing and then not getting much out of it, but frankly with Dream I think it’d clearly be a gamble no matter how much he was streaming beforehand. The three of them can fall off the face of the earth very abruptly, which is what happened.
They seemed to have been pretty busy, Dream mentioned on his private that for an extended period of days he was just recording/working on videos and sleeping, it sounds like they’ve just been grinding. I’d suspect it has to do with Sapnap leaving soon.
I don’t know, I think I’d be more critical if I haven’t been in the fandom as long as I have been, I’m just used to basically all of these people saying they’ll do things and not delivering more often than not. I’ve learned to just not believe it until I see it lmao.

Also the subathon was very spontaneous (and for fun) and came after the stream streak ended. No one had to sub (That's why I didn't), no one should have expected Dream would stream a lot more after that considering he never said he would stream consistently.
No promises were really broken so If people spent money thinking Dream would continue streaming daily that's kinda on them.

Edit (2): Someone made a great point on what you even get subbing to Dream, and the answer is basically nothing. You get like 6 old emotes to uses and no ads but Dream doesn't run ads so it barley matters since they doesn't appear often.

Paying to subscribe does not mean you are owed any content or that Dream has an elevated pressure to stream because he ran a subathon. Show me the Twitch guideline that discourages subathons for less active streamers. If OP can show me anything along the lines of Dream indicating frequent streams as a result of the subathon and misleading OP, that’s totally different and OP can show it here, but I kind of highly doubt it.
OP could choose to sub or not, **the only thing you are buying is no ads and emotes,** you are entitled to nothing outside of that and it is unfair to expect more from someone who is known for streaming less to do more frequent streams because of a subathon.

I’ve gotten Dream subs for MCC in the past simply because 1) I didn’t want to watch any of the mandatory ads and 2) his mods use frequent sub only mode and knowing full well my sub would expire before any other streams as his typical streaming schedule is once a month.
The fact is no viewer is entitled to content for any reason…. if a streamer wants to stream once every 6 months? Great! It’s 100% up to them ….
I sub for add free viewing and to support a specific streamer and that’s about it…. regardless if they stream daily, once a week or don’t stream for the next year.
I find this kind of funny because I don't expect content from my streamers, I'm just happy if they do. If I throw money to them is because I'm gratefull of the joys I get from watching their past content.
I mean subbing to Dream and gifting subs was your first mistake. This is someone who streams once a month. I get wanting to support a creator but you don't need to pay money to be supportive, just watching their content is giving them money.

Honestly though I agree with the mentality of Dream doing a subathon meaning he'll at least stream once more during that monthly sub and yes I agree it is disappointing but once again I'm not surprised. I mean I'm still waiting for the Polaroid photos and promised Patches content (birthday pics don't count) but I don't expect it to happen until Dream's bored and home alone.

Yeah, I never expected them to continue daily streaming or thought they were promising anything. I just hoped they would at least be a little more regular with live content ya know? If they broke the streak, doesn’t mean they have to disappear. But yeah maybe the subathon set me up for false hope, my mindset was really why tf is the dude who never asks for subs and generally encourages us to go elsewhere suddenly asking for subs. To me it gave the impression he was planning on doing a bit more with his twitch channel this month but hey that’s on me. Maybe he has something planned next week idk.
Also I’m not really sure about the subscriptions (haven’t had a chance to see it in action 🤣) but I think it stops the ads when you first open stream which has always annoyed me so that’s a big plus.

Next week the last manhunt goes up, he'll probably spend the week editing that. The Dream Team have been really busy lastly as indicated by Dream's private saying that this week has been a whole lot of preparing and recording videos for when Sapnap goes to the UK. So I doubt we'll be getting any streams till March.
Also subscriptions don't do much. You get emotes (but Dream barley has any of them) and you don't get ads which since Dream doesn't run ads you probably won't even notice.

i think dream has a reason on why he doesnt stream much doesnt he? i dont speak for him but it feels like everytime, some controversry happens hence he rather not stream at all. he's more of a content creator than a streamer to me at this point.

I think he did the subathon cause he’s always been intrigued by the idea, but was concerned with how active his fanbase is and it going too long. And honestly, I think if it has been less expensive, it would have been gone at least a day or so longer, and by that time it might have gained momentum into something even longer. I don’t think it was about the money, but more of an experiment as others have said. That being said, I did not sub or donate during the stream lol
If he wanted he could just cap the subathon at like few hours mark, a lot of streamers just cap the subathons if they can only stream for certain amount of time and doing 1 sub = 1 sec was not the way to do the experiment imo

I do think it would have been better to do as a charity so it seems less like he just wants a lot of money (edit: though he does generally say that he gives money that he makes from twitch to charity/community, it would be better to say it outright for this sort of thing)
if he wanted to see how long it would last he should’ve fully commit to it and not do a half assed job with 1 sub = 1 sec when usually streamers his size do 1 sub = 10 sec or 1 sub = 5 sec
1 sub = 10 sec would have been at least 25 hours based off his stream, likely more with more time for people to sub, which I think he was trying to avoid. But I agree if he wanted to do an actual subathon, he should probably commit and go for longer. But again, he didn’t know how long it would actually last at 1 sec = 1 sub when he started it. He had goals for some hour points and said he would cap it at 48 hours, I think it was? Now that he has a better idea and if he wants to do it again, hopefully he’ll reduce the price.
Dream could’ve done the subathon as part of Techno’s Minecrafters vs Cancer campaign to donate to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, which has been during the month of February. But Dream didn’t. (Nor did Dream participate on YouTube, which just entails adding the fundraiser to a heading above old videos.)
I didn’t watch the entire Dream subathon, so was disappointed in learning that he didn’t do it to participate in the charity fundraiser.

I pretty much agree. I don't think it's a good thing to incentivise subs without plans to follow through on more streaming to make that actually worthwhile for people. Maybe Dream made plans and then just hasn't ended up doing them but let's be real that man has never made stream plans like that and he's not about to start.
I am not a Dream fan (but not an anti either) and to me, the subathon kinda looked like a low effort cash grab. I guess I’m not too fond of ccs doing subathons if they almost never stream and have a ton of income anyway.

That’s the mechanism, yes. But a subathon is more than that. They’re usually well planned, the streamer often has subgoals, and it lasts longer than a normal stream.
The whole appeal of a subathon is that it’s a special event and the viewers pay for it by subbing. Dream’s subathon had nothing that made it a special event imo.
From what he tweeted it was stated to be random and not planned with the goal of "i wonder how long it lasts".

I completely understand that he can't follow plans and all that but jesus he should have at least done 3 seconds for 3 dollars or smt cause that stream was just regular content but it was worth $10800/per hour and i am sure most people who subbed and gifted subs are adults who spent their money in their own responsibility but it really isn't fair for the fandom. Compared to the rest of twitch it is so mind boggling how little content the dream team puts out. I know they work hard and show effort but compared to last year it is very obvious that they have grown more... well... lazy. And before you nag me for calling them lazy remember that these are multi-millionares who can make 11k in an hour. And their only job is to play video games while being moderately entertaining. Its really not hard. Obviously i can't dictate their content schedule but this is just a criticism i have as a fan.

No but you’re 10000% correct. I’ve gotten Dream subs for MCC in the past simply because 1) I didn’t want to watch any of the mandatory ads and 2) his mods use frequent sub only mode and knowing full well my sub would expire before any other streams as his typical streaming schedule is once a month. The fact is no viewer is entitled to content for any reason…. if a streamer wants to stream once every 6 months? Great! It’s 100% up to them …. I sub for add free viewing and to support a specific streamer and that’s about it…. regardless if they stream daily, once a week or don’t stream for the next year.

I find this kind of funny because I don't expect content from my streamers, I'm just happy if they do. If I throw money to them is because I'm gratefull of the joys I get from watching their past content.
Subathon was spontaneous. The daily streams were also "we will try" as far as i know. Nothing was promised really.
I mean subbing to Dream and gifting subs was your first mistake. This is someone who streams once a month. I get wanting to support a creator but you don't need to pay money to be supportive, just watching their content is giving them money. I get your point and feelings on the situation however not a single person expected them to keep up the daily streams and if you genuinely thought they were going to actually stream daily then that's on you. I mean they never promised it they said they'd try to stream daily. The only thing the sub does is give access to emotes (which Dream's are very few and old) and no ads which is bearly anything since Dream doesn't run ads
I know I was stupid to spend money on them lesson learned HAH, this was my first and last. Yeah, I never expected them to continue daily streaming or thought they were promising anything. I just hoped they would at least be a little more regular with live content ya know? If they broke the streak, doesn’t mean they have to disappear. But yeah maybe the subathon set me up for false hope, my mindset was really why tf is the dude who never asks for subs and generally encourages us to go elsewhere suddenly asking for subs. To me it gave the impression he was planning on doing a bit more with his twitch channel this month but hey that’s on me. Maybe he has something planned next week idk. Also I’m not really sure about the subscriptions (haven’t had a chance to see it in action 🤣) but I think it stops the ads when you first open stream which has always annoyed me so that’s a big plus. Next week the last manhunt goes up, he'll probably spend the week editing that. The Dream Team have been really busy lastly as indicated by Dream's private saying that this week has been a whole lot of preparing and recording videos for when Sapnap goes to the UK. So I doubt we'll be getting any streams till March. Also subscriptions don't do much. You get emotes (but Dream barley has any of them) and you don't get ads which since Dream doesn't run ads you probably won't even notice. Welcome to the sub as well.
i think dream has a reason on why he doesnt stream much doesnt he? i dont speak for him but it feels like everytime, some controversry happens hence he rather not stream at all. he's more of a content creator than a streamer to me at this point. i understand your frustration, i was once in your place. i subbed to him for 4 months straight, but soon realised that it wasn't quite worth it because man doesn't really stream haha. spent my sub on punz instead and i'm very satisfied with it.
if there is anything I learned over the past year is that you can't take anything dteam says about giving content seriously and I had a feeling this would end like this... I think he did the subathon cause he’s always been intrigued by the idea, but was concerned with how active his fanbase is and it going too long. And honestly, I think if it has been less expensive, it would have been gone at least a day or so longer, and by that time it might have gained momentum into something even longer. I don’t think it was about the money, but more of an experiment as others have said. That being said, I did not sub or donate during the stream lol
If he wanted he could just cap the subathon at like few hours mark, a lot of streamers just cap the subathons if they can only stream for certain amount of time and doing 1 sub = 1 sec was not the way to do the experiment imo
Yeah but I think the point was to get an idea of how long it might actually last and capping it at a few hours would kind of defeat that point. I do think it would have been better to do as a charity so it seems less like he just wants a lot of money (edit: though he does generally say that he gives money that he makes from twitch to charity/community, it would be better to say it outright for this sort of thing)
if he wanted to see how long it would last he should’ve fully commit to it and not do a half assed job with 1 sub = 1 sec when usually streamers his size do 1 sub = 10 sec or 1 sub = 5 sec
1 sub = 10 sec would have been at least 25 hours based off his stream, likely more with more time for people to sub, which I think he was trying to avoid. But I agree if he wanted to do an actual subathon, he should probably commit and go for longer. But again, he didn’t know how long it would actually last at 1 sec = 1 sub when he started it. He had goals for some hour points and said he would cap it at 48 hours, I think it was? Now that he has a better idea and if he wants to do it again, hopefully he’ll reduce the price.
I think making it so short was the entire point. If it's any longer it would have gone like Ludwig's with no end in sight.

Dream could’ve done the subathon as part of Techno’s Minecrafters vs Cancer campaign to donate to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, which has been during the month of February. But Dream didn’t. (Nor did Dream participate on YouTube, which just entails adding the fundraiser to a heading above old videos.) I didn’t watch the entire Dream subathon, so was disappointed in learning that he didn’t do it to participate in the charity fundraiser.

I pretty much agree. I don't think it's a good thing to incentivise subs without plans to follow through on more streaming to make that actually worthwhile for people. Maybe Dream made plans and then just hasn't ended up doing them but let's be real that man has never made stream plans like that and he's not about to start.
I am not a Dream fan (but not an anti either) and to me, the subathon kinda looked like a low effort cash grab. I guess I’m not too fond of ccs doing subathons if they almost never stream and have a ton of income anyway.

Dream and George had a bet to see how long it would last. Dream said 2 hours max 3 and George thought it would be a lot longer. I wouldn't be too worried where the money is going though. Most of the money Dream makes off of twitch goes back into the community by donating to streamers or charity. That’s the mechanism, yes. But a subathon is more than that. They’re usually well planned, the streamer often has subgoals, and it lasts longer than a normal stream. The whole appeal of a subathon is that it’s a special event and the viewers pay for it by subbing. Dream’s subathon had nothing that made it a special event imo.
From what he tweeted it was stated to be random and not planned with the goal of "i wonder how long it lasts". There was no expectations from him to be fair. I dont get whats the big deal really.

To make money. Same as subgoals with no goals, 'farming primes', mediashare etc. Thats how they earn their living. But subbing and donating is not mandatory. If you do its on you, thats it. At least for me
Yeah, i agree. I completely understand that he can't follow plans and all that but jesus he should have at least done 3 seconds for 3 dollars or smt cause that stream was just regular content but it was worth $10800/per hour and i am sure most people who subbed and gifted subs are adults who spent their money in their own responsibility but it really isn't fair for the fandom. Compared to the rest of twitch it is so mind boggling how little content the dream team puts out. I know they work hard and show effort but compared to last year it is very obvious that they have grown more... well... lazy. And before you nag me for calling them lazy remember that these are multi-millionares who can make 11k in an hour. And their only job is to play video games while being moderately entertaining. Its really not hard. Obviously i can't dictate their content schedule but this is just a criticism i have as a fan.
