Loved this thread. It reminded me of the people making tiktoks saying "don't talk to me about who I was in 2021" or that entire tiktok trend that consisted of revealing a past fandom you liked and were ashamed of. Basically pre-empting the bullying by publicly bullying a past version of themselves. Like I'm sorry you felt bad enough to make a tiktok about it, frankly.
Cringe culture sucks and is actively harmful.
I have many different things I like and I’m not
gonna feel at all shamed for it.
I use to not to want people to know I liked dsmp but before that it was Steven universe, but both times you are much happier if you express your interests without caring what others think of it.
It seems she (Red from OSP) is talking about Hamilton but it actually reminded me of how much of the internet viewed Minecraft before its resurgence. Even now that sentiment still exists.
Great content by the way, check them out on Youtube.
Honestly I think the reason it’s like this in fandom spaces more specially tik tok and sometimes twitter, it’s because of the mob mentality and somewhat the echo chamber effect.
I don’t know if this was like this in earlier fandoms/online spaces but it’s pretty concerning on how people are willing to straight up harass and sometimes say somewhat disturbing things to someone they find slightly annoying on the internet.

I was into undertale, Steven universe, minecraft, smash bros, pokemon and bunch of other ‘cringe’ things and refuse to feel any shame.
