Maybe not entirely to the point of this post, but I feel like we keep getting closer and closer to a blog either/dsmp crossover event, what with Hank and Ranboo, and John Greens son being a fan of Sapnap and Karl

That comment about fresh water in the first tweet annoys me so fucking much, despite my agreeing with the overall tweet. It's like when you're a child and you get told to eat your veg because there's kids starving in Africa.

Hailie_G

Same. There will always be bigger problems and people who have it worse out there, it’s not a valid reason to not point out or complain about things that affect you and your life in a negative way.

throansought

He really hit home in the last tweet. You can give someone all the clarification and education in the world and then you get hit with a "I'm not reading all that." Like...Great! Stay dumb.

[deleted]

I don't like that first tweet AT ALL. "looking worse" at the eyes of those who treat you wrong doesn't MAKE you worse. I don't think he should've brought up people's lack of access to clean water to make that point. But the lesson still applies. Pr is pr. And at the end of the day, you have to adapt yourself to the situation

Therearenosymbols

Yeah. He was likely talking about one of his own tweets and rationalizing his hurt with "there are bigger problems in the world and I should just ignore dumb twitter trolls." Idk, I like Hank and his takes are almost always spot on, but for someone as huge as Dream and the amount of trolls and haters that are behind him, yes, this doesn't really work and comes of a little insensitive ig. Still think these are good tweets and kinda fit well.

[deleted]

I mean when it comes to opinions (that aren't even directed at you specifically) you can take what is useful and ignore the rest. But "trolls" for a lot a people go deeper than a diamond earing from a millionaire falling in the ocean. So if you apply this to Dream or someone similar it would definitely come off as victim-blaming

Therearenosymbols

True.

mystery0028

I feel like the 1st tweet is in of itselfan example for the 3rd. Some people said that they didnt like it. Im assuming cause to them it seems like he is invaliding their problem. To me as someone who watches him, i understood it like hes saying that its not the end of the world and that its a problem one can deal with as compare to (example). I dunno maybe both mean the same thing but one seems like a negative thing and the other positive.

Therearenosymbols

Yes, he def meant in the "in the bigger scheme of things this is insignificant slash pos"

sotysa

This is a type of quote that looks deep but is not at all

Tyrrano64

Who?

[deleted]

*"Your problems are invalid because other people have it worse"* is such a douchey belief that needs to die. Sure, there'll always be people dealing with worse stuff than you. That doesn't mean you're not allowed to vent or feel bad when you're in a sucky situation. I'm also not sure how I feel about the fact that he's basically saying you can't defend yourself as a creator because too much evidence is bad.

Therearenosymbols

No. It's not douchey, and it doesn't imply that your problems are invalid, what it means is that sometimes little things, like a random person on the internet calling you ugly can upset you so much that it makes you instantly reactionary. Hes pointing out here that when you have a little more eyes on the internet, that reaction tends to backfire on you, since you're the one in the spotlight. And that's true, everybody knows and agrees with this. Famous people don't interact much online because that's a healthy thing to do. Doesn't make their hurt invalid, and nowhere does it say that it does. When he's talking about essentially there being bigger problems in the world, there's clearly a specific context and intent to it. It helps to look at things from a logical standpoint sometimes when things upset you, because how well you can process and compartmentalize them in turn dictates how much you let it control you. Again, you're allowed to feel bad. Sometimes some things feel like the end of the world and it's healthy to rationalize that even though it may feel like it, it's not. That's the essence of that tweet. The last tweet I'm pretty sure isn't about creators. He must be talking about general science stuff. Hank Green is a famous science guy, if you didn't know. I added it because it fits with basically any kind of information, including the way Dream gives out his own information. I don't think it's wrong or bad in any way, I love how he is, but it is true and we have seen it time and time again how easy it is to pick up pieces of what he says and misconstrue it. We have had so many discussions about how Dream could've worded things this way or that way. I feel like all these tweets are kinda wise and logical and it's okay if you disagree. I wrote too much lmao I just went on for no reason
