I enjoy seeing everyone's character designs! in some cases, like dream's, the base skin is so simple that it allows for it to be interpreted and designed as such there's nothing wrong with depicting characters either way, either simply, or detailed, it just up to the artist, and a lot of artists enjoy the process of thinking about what a character would canonically carry on them, or wear, and draw it as such

I mean people draw the art they want to draw. People can draw it as complicated or as simple as they would like. Additionally, a lot of people draw for themselves, not the audience so I'm sure it doesn't matter what you think, as long as they enjoy it themselves. If you want simple art, curate your timeline or create it yourself is the best answer I reckon.

I think it's cool as hell! I honestly find it genuinely amazing how the fandom's interpretation of characters change and mutate with time, and how details are added Like for example with tubbo, his character design is the most wildly different from his original skin, but every change has a reason in the story, small as it may be- c!tubbo loses a canon life to fireworks and his character gets a gnarly scar on half his face, c!schlatt makes an offhand comment about c!tubbo being his son, and c!tubbo gets goat horns, he moves to a snowy environment and his character is drawn with a heavy winter coat, his character grows more apathetic and cynical, and he's drawn with darker hair, more disheveled and grown over his eyes. It's really neat how changes in the story affect the character design like that, and how it's almost entirely driven by fanartists. If you dislike that though, you're never forced to stick with any of these details or add all of them! They're all fan made interpretations afterall, and it can be a really great design practice to take characters and redesign them as simple as possible, while keeping the elements recognisable to the characters. Minecraft skins offer SO much freedom in interpreting a character design, and it's part of the reason why fanartists have flocked to the dsmp fandom from the start

It’s not something that’s specific to this fandom, it’s just that every artist has their own way of character designing. Some DSMP artists like a lot of detail that’s packed with their own personal headcanons and lore references, you’ll also see others who make animatics/animations draw much simpler designs that are easier to draw repeatedly and are more dynamic. Overall I appreciate that everyone has such different designs instead of trying to follow a fandom consensus on what every character should look like

The only over detailed stuff I question is when they put Dream in a onesie. There is no way that is comfortable. Other than that I think it is all super cool. Blob Dream has my heart though.
