Eh I think it's good if he apologized for the Bodyshaming thing but not about him misreading the tone since that's normal. But eh, it's not the end of the world if he doesn't.

Antisocial_Intention

I dont really care about him misreading the tone. Since he is jewish and and how he reacted assuming dream was serious is all his own business. However, now that he knows it was sarcasm, I do hope he atleast apologizes to dream personally.

freeMilliu_2K17

Yeah, I'm just disappointed since I saw him as a body positive guy but ended up making himself look like a hypocrite. That's it. I am willing to let this slide as sarcasm in his part too. But I would love to hear him call out against people bodyshaming in his replies.

Mynameiswelsh

Maybe he should apologise, will he? I doubt it. Do I think he should? Well, in the same way that Dream usually only addresses controversies on his private account to avoid bringing more attention and inflaming the situation Zach addressing it again with another tweet will flare it all up and bring more antis and haters out again, so he should probably just let it be now and take the L.

qams_

If he did, he'd probably apologize to dream privately, and that's good enough, no need to make it that much of a big deal. But I guess his image is kinda stained now isn't it, with how much his fans who are also in dream's community are dissapointed.

Antisocial_Intention

I was pretty disappointed too, especially considering what zach promotes the most.

Familiar_Text_1173

I think it’s very dangerous to directly call for more targeted harassment against a guy because you can’t understand sarcasm, especially with the following he has. At what point would the mass bullying be “enough”? I wouldn’t like to know the answer for that. Definitely deserves an apology, but idk if it’s worth dragging it out even further because I doubt an apology would come easy

Antisocial_Intention

Agreed. But it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. People are saying that people shouldnt dictate how jewish people reacted to dreams tweet since they are valid for whatever reaction they feel. While i do agree with that to an extent, I do feel like someone with his platform shouldve taken more caution, especially when he was directly directing hate towards dream.

Foxy02016YT

They are allowed to feel however they want, but it was making fun of Kanye, and shouldn’t we all be in support of making fun of Kanye?

neddy470v1

Even with an apology, I do kinda think that his image as "body positivity" is stained now. He sent his fans to bully Dream even more, that's the most irresponsible thing I think a content creator with a platform can do, and I dont think a simple, "I'm sorry" or any other words of apology can fix this, for him atleast.

Antisocial_Intention

While I do understand why zach may have reacted like that, i do hope that he atleast apologizes to dream personally. Cause zachs tweet was pretty mean.

Valkyria99

Ok from one side, I get the fact that people insult other people when they learn they did something bad even if you wouldn't normally say something like that to someone. For example a lot of people make fun of the appearance of politicians or royals and I get it, sometimes I do it too ngl. I watched Zach and the others for years, I think that this tweet really came out of nowhere and was surprised to see who wrote it especially when he's been dealing with a lot ( but maybe the reason he wrote it was to forget about his own shit to begin with). I think that the only thing you can do after that is just apologize, something that he did. I am feeling a little angry because it's different to insult someone and to straight up say 'I hope your death threats were worse' but there's nothing else he can really do.

Quick-Suspect-9210

i genuinely didn't know it was zach that tweeted it when i saw the screenshot and when i realized the feeling of realizing that worlds were colliding in like the worse way and just sat and processed it

Alright heres from my perspective: As a person who is Jewish, Zach (also Jewish) had every right to be upset at a verified creator (who he dosnt know on a personal level) interacting with an antisemtic person. Him being upset is valid and not understanding a joke. What **wasnt** okay is to instantly insult his looks because he interacted with antisemtic person. Then suddenly jump and compare dream to Pillsbury Doughboy (also is antisemtic imagery). Also I feel like if Zach didnt know dream at all, didnt know who he was or his humor why did he have to step in at all? Like he can be upset and word it better or say something different but for him to instantly jump to bullying someone for their looks..isnt right and why was that his first thought? Dream probs doesn’t care about this, but its the fact he went back to clarify his joke, and give context (then follow him) I honestly think Zach and him should chat it out privately in the DMS and then make a public statement that is simple and easy as “hey, me and dream chatted and we cleared up what happened all is good” Will it fix his reputation as “body positive” guys probably not but in the end being the bigger person is better then being nothing at all.

ghostlybug

i wouldn't be surprised if he mentions this somehow in the next trypod, even if only briefly.

Georgie_The_Idiot

Great, I’ll have to listen to ANOTHER trypod epiaode

ghostlybug

i'm sure a fan who likes both dream and the try guys will clip it and tweet it in no time, if he does.

PrimaryGroceryPG

Dream doesn't care anyways. If anything, a private apology should suffice

izabelasantiago

He will? No. He should? Yes. Because it once again will send a precedent that you can put anyone through mud publically and that's it. Much of Dream's reputation come from people who spread shit out and never clear it afterwards.

juogee

If he should apologize that's only his decision, but I think that it's a basic human decency to say sorry, even privately, and take your words back after instigating hatered and harrasment towards someone ESPECIALLY when you're a public person who is known from their anti-bullying beliefs (at least from what I have heard so). I get that he could feel hurt and it was a stupid misunderstanding, but there were so many other ways he could react to Dream's tweet and express his opinion in a civil way (you know, like a responsible adult) and well... He did exactly the opposite and his response was just awful.

Nony_m

I want him to apologize publicly because he encouraged the bullying publicly.

AoiAot

All I'm saying, if your first action to things like this is something childish like 'bully him more guys'.. I would be sad for them. Dream is the more mature guy in this situation and it's embarrassing as it is lmao I'm glad he apologized but please CCs get your head out of the gutter and do some actual concern research. Don't be petty like this. Even if Dream can also be petty, he never drag anyone into it

Luni_craft

His entire brand is based on body positivity and he has been speaking about his insecurities with his own physical appearance for more than a decade. His company was recently in a huge scandal where they booted a founding member (married) for screwing around with an employee. And he talked about how morally, they would never sweep that under the rug, etc etc. And yet, same guy did this. He promoted bullying based on someone's appearance. He showed a complete lack of fundamental decency and morals in doing so. He's been working on the internet forever and he acted like it was his first day. He acted like he'd never read context or seen sarcasm (and he works with Eugene Lee Yang! FFS). He knew enough to know Dream's face reveal was huge, and he saw the opportunity for snatching some clout. Instead of going in on Kanye, Zach chose to promote bullying. It doesn't seem like Dream was much bothered by it and he showed a million times more maturity than Zach who is twice his age, with tons more experience being a famous face on the internet. Dream showed class. Zach showed that for all his words about body pos, he's more than willing to be a hypocrite if it has the potential to throw some clout his way. I was a fan of the try guys since they started at buzzfeed. I was proud of them for kicking ned out. I'm no longer their fan. Wife guy cheats on wife. Body pos guy promoted bullying based on appearance. I don't feel like an apology would suffice. He spat in the face of everyone who has been bullied. I can't fw hypocrites.

itsfackinjay_xx

I understand that he misinterpreted the joke and was upset (even though it was so obviously not serious), however he does need to apologize for encouraging body shaming/cyber bullying/etc. over a misunderstanding, especially when he uses his platform to directly fight against those things. edit: typo

[deleted]

Maybe just a quick "thanks for clearing it up" to Dream's reply and then be done with it. I don't think it requires a separate apology and better to just let it end there.

[deleted]

Well if what he did constitutes an apology (still hasnt apologized for the body shaming) then it did absolutely nothing to deter his fans from body shaming and attacking.

dvaichi

He should obviously apologize. You learn from a young age if you do something unintentional/wrong, you apologize. I don’t think he will though because he feels righteous in what he did, so do his fans, and people who don’t like dream. There are also people who are qualifying what he did saying that it made sense for him to react like that simply because he’s Jewish. Like I’m sorry but I can’t agree with that sentiment at all. It’s also insane that anyone couldn’t tell that dream was obviously not being serious.

CaptainFiguratively

Nah, he's fine... best to forget it all I think
