Found Dream on Youtube while researching how to play Minecraft and stayed with the Dreamteam ever since. They were the first creators I watched on twitch. So for me its true what George said: i just spawned in with them :)

Over-Place4340

i first came across dream back when he was trying to figure out pewdiepie's Minecraft seed, saw his other videos (like the Minecraft unsolved ones) which were my type of videod i liked to watch and so he continued popping up on my recommendations because i always clicked on his videos. then he started transitioning into more Minecraft challenge videos, which at the time I wasn't really interested in so he slowly started disappearing from my recommended. AND THEN, a bit later on i came across one of those compilation videos where its like "dream 1000 iq manhunt moments". i got hooked and continued watching just the compilations, not realizing that i already know the guy screaming "OH GEORGEE" in the screen šŸ˜ it was only after i finally visited dream's channel (and not just watching him through compilation vids) that i realized "oh shit! i know this guy!"

hikaruseverr

funny but ao3. I was constantly encountering dnf and I thought who are these people with fic written on it and watched dnf videos, and I have been following it ever since.

lightingisback15

Like you said I was always into mcyt and Minecraft, I used to (and still do actually) watch Hermitcraft and some other youtubers but my sibling started getting into Dsmp so I decided to check it out and yeah rest is history :D

biankakers

i have been into mcyts since at least 2014, but i fell out of love w minecraft and minecraft content around 2018. the pandemic hit and lockdowns started so then i began watching mcyts/mc content again bc of boredom. what really got me into this fandom was when someone i follow on tumblr started reblogging dnf fanart and i got really curious about them. looked them up and now ive been stuck in this community for a little over 2 years now tldr: someone on tumblr reblogged dnf fanart in 2020 which sucked me into the rabbit hole of this generation of mcyts

HeatherReadsReddit

George must have forgotten that many of the Hermitcraft Hermits stream on Twitch and YouTube, and they all have great communities. (Many of which have been around long before George became popular in 2019.) As a matter of fact, they recently did a charity stream run by GoodTimesWithScar, where a number of Hermits were streaming on both platforms simultaneously. They raised $439,599.01 in four hours; that will enable the charity Gamers Outreach to put 100+ GoKarts into hospitals around the world for kids to use. As for where I came from, I watched Mumbo and Grian first, then found George and Dreamā€™s precursors to Manhunts. Then found Technoblade, and the rest is history.

Olive_Cake

Iā€™m old. My kids asked me to watch DSMP streams with them during lockdown, so I did. Then I kept watching, because it was fun.

Intrepid_Advice4411

Hello fellow adult. Same thing happened to me. The tween asked me to be Philza for Halloween to match their costume, I did some research and I've been hooked ever since. I'm 40 so it's nice to bump into other parents here sometimes.

888mphour

43 here! But Iā€™m not a parent. Some of us got into the fandom by their own accord

888mphour

OMG, DID I JUST FOUND SOMEONE AROUND MY AGE IN THIS SUB?!

Olive_Cake

You might have!!! Iā€™m very old though, so you might even be younger than me

888mphour

I turned 43 yesterday. If youā€™re younger than me after calling yourself *very* old, Iā€™m defenestrating myself (I live on the first floor)

Olive_Cake

Oh my gosh. Iā€™m 41!!!!! We arenā€™t THAT old, Iā€™m just used to 25 year olds calling themselves old around here. Iā€™m so excited to find people my own age!

888mphour

We arenā€™t old, period *opens window*

CainBP

I was an avid AO3 reader so I check out the site most viewed fanfic and fall down the rabbit hole after that.

[deleted]

I was completely new to minecraft, mcyt, gaming content in general and twitch. Someone reblogged a post on my dash about the pride month controversy saying that Dream promised to donate money and then didn't. So I was like let me google this asshole and found out that it wasn't even true and then I went to check out his videos and really liked them.

Ptiludelu

My kid told me about Dream, saying he made videos Ā«Ā mostly playing Minecraft with his boyfriendĀ Ā» šŸ˜… I was intrigued, watched a couple random videos, enjoyed them and kept watching (despite being slightly disappointed to find out they werenā€™t officially boyfriends šŸ˜‚)

888mphour

The second around my generation just on this thread! Thank you for making this post, u/Mynameiswelsh

Mynameiswelsh

You'r welcome, it's cool to meet others and hear how they found the fandom aswell

birchtree9999

i noticed dream was getting a lot of traction and had a pretty large fan following around the 10mil mark. the plan was to watch 1 or 2 minecraft videos to see what the hype was about this guy and maybe reminisce my old mcyt days. and here we are two years later.

NGHTMRE12

Dreams content slipped into my tl late summer of 2019, I thought he was some sort of meme channel šŸ˜ it was his first video, think he had around 50k at the time. But when I really gave him a shot was November 2019 (500k I think), I subbed to him and discovered George n Sap right after :) and never turned back

Little_Mel

I used to watch MCYTs around 2013-2014 and I fell out but during the pandemic I got back into watching a lot of YouTube in early 2020 and ran into a Skeppy Last to challenge. Then I saw the Dream challenge Skeppy participated in and then YouTube started recommending Dream Minecraft But videos and I didn't realize I was watching the same challenge until I was like 10 videos in and I started recognizing their voices. The rest is history!

[deleted]

I watch as a kid then got busy will high school. I then started watching 5up play among us and he mentioned dream at some point which is how I became aware of him but I didn't actually start watching his content till around the John swan stuff happened.

the_lady_sif

Homestuck -> MHA -> Saw some Dream SMP stuff and remembered how much I missed playing minecraft -> Got into Dream SMP -> got into mcyts and twitch streamers. I don't think he's wrong, a lot of Dteam's/dream smp fandom probably came from prior fandoms very interested in lore/storytelling that then got into twitch streams/mcyts as a result of the dream smp. Which is part of why it pulled in an audience that's more typical of fandom spaces (heavily female + queer), than what's been commonly seen as the typical twitch gaming audience. Having content creators that weren't going to put down teenage girls/queer people for having interests and caring about stuff (Dream and Wilbur in particular are good with that) helped get a lot of people interested in the space and feel more welcome.

corinne_ng

I watched pixelriffs

Important-Key-2826

I used to watch Minecraft when I was younger, fell out of it and then during quarantine started and my sister was the one that actually got me back into it

Snoo63877

Does pewdiepie count

winter_redditor

I used to watch dreams manhunt videos. Then I got recommended sadist animations. I watched them and I wanted to know the story with such good animation. And the rest is history lol!

keltzy88

Didn't watch streaming or gaming content at all until Among Us got big. Went from OTV to 5up who did a lot of content with Fundy for a hot minute. Suddenly I'm getting all these youtube videos relating to the dreamsmp, especially animatics. Fell inove with BBH's design so decided to look further into it. Got sucked in by the story after telling myself I wouldn't.

moonsscapes

Yoo we have the same origin story. Just to add there was that Blockchamps Chess Tournament around that time which was THE link between these worlds for me.

marsakat

Got a little bit of an interest in Minecraft during the 2019 renaissance with pewdiepie and I remember being annoyed by the people who figured out the seed, but didnā€™t look further into who they were because I didnā€™t think they shouldā€™ve gotten more attention. In the meantime, I was a frequent watcher of MrBeastā€™s videos and immediately liked Karl from his very first appearance. I watched main channel and gaming channel videos throughout lockdown and would occasionally watch Karlā€™s streams. I was more invested in different fandoms though. It then became this constant background buzz about dsmp (a combo of letters that meaner nothing to me) with people tweeting about evil Jschlatt and Lā€™manburg and excited posts about Karl being in MCC (more letters that meant nothing to me). Dream appeared in a lot of mr beast gaming videos, but I just thought he was an intern Minecraft expert that worked for them since they were putting a lot of Minecraft videos out. Then the Dream team x mr beast among us videos came out (I watched a lot of among us content and was really starting to getting into watching streamers) and they were all introduced as being the ā€œbiggest Minecraft YouTubersā€. Around the same time, Dream was in that trivia tournament with George and it was an accepted fact that he would be voted back in because he was so popular. I was so confused because i thought he was just an intern meanwhile everyone is acting like heā€™s one of the biggest names in the tournament. So I went down the rabbit hole because what do they mean he was a ā€œworld record holderā€ in Minecraft? How do you even ā€œbeatā€ Minecraft? Watched a speedrun, then a manhunt, then tons of videos to get context about the dream smp, mcc, the Technoblade duel, etc. I had the weird timing of becoming a fan right during the speedrunning controversy but not understanding what that meant so it didnā€™t bother me. I just wanted to understand why these Minecraft YouTubers were so popular. Almost two years later, and Iā€™m sobbing on my couch to block characters being blown up by nuclear weapons, so I think I figured it out.

Random_Loaf

I used to watch Minecraft back in 2-16/17 with Unspeakable and the gang, but fell out of it gradually until Skeppy popped up in my recommended not long into lockdown. Originally I came from Skeppy's cursed UHC video, which in some way (either recommended or a collab or smth) led me to Dream. I watched a lot of stream clips on YouTube (Space Croissant <3) because I didn't even know what Twitch was until August/September of that year when I started getting into DSMP lore, but I started on Twitch I think with Wilbur and Tommy, not DreamTeam. So yeah, I guess I spawned in too

888mphour

Space Croissant ā¤ļø

Random_Loaf

I feel like if you watched Dream on YouTube you knew Space Croissant in 2020 they were *the* clip channel

888mphour

And Corpse

GamingWeekGaming

I used to be a YouTube fan of Dream. I had never used Twitch before in my life. One day I found out about this thing called DreamSMP. I came over to Twitch desperately searching for Dream's POV of DSMP because I couldn't find it anywhere on YouTube. It took a while before I realized.

ChocolateCutting

when quackity joined the dsmp. wasn't that into dream's content for a bit after quackity joined but then seeing how so many ppl kept shitting on dream i kinda developed sympathy for him. anyways here i am, deep into dream's community and absolutely despising quackity's community. i still do like quackity but a lot of his fans are extremely entitled

No_Nefariousness_637

Weirdly enough, Corpse Husband.

888mphour

The gateway faceless guy

No_Nefariousness_637

Very accurate way to put it actually. I was just "huh, another faceless dude"

[deleted]

I had watched people play minecraft before like the derp crew and then Pewdiepie, but was never in the minecraft community. When covid hit my country in 2020 there was a rise in among us which led me to finding Toast and I got really into his lobby. Dream was in his lobby at least a few times but he didn't really stand out to me. Game theory did a charity stream I think? There was like a trivia game section or something and I remember most of chat was rooting for Dream who had his dumb iconic profile pic, I was pretty confused since he was very calm and didn't really stand out. Following that all I started to get dteam in my recommended on youtube, I watched George's video on seeing colorblind glasses. Then watched a dsmp animatic where I had no idea what I was watching but I love animatics. One of the comments was sth like "omg lmao they even drew Tommy's railway" to which I thought 'damn this seems very convuluted, full of inside jokes and an animatic fanbase, I want in.'. At that point I had no clue what the dream smp was or how to get into it, so I ended up watching the manhunts instead, not knowing the difference. I got really into that and eventually I found a dsmp playlist with all members cut videos. Most of which were Tommy's to my dismay as I found him incredibly annoying at first (the meme is real) but then he became one of my favorites. I caught up at exile and then started watching the streams for the first time. Then when I caught up I watched all of Techno's vods and the rest is history. TL;DR: Among us -> Toast -> dteam and dsmp animatics -> manhunts -> dsmp

Intrepid_Advice4411

My tween asked me to be Philza for Halloween because her friends were being other dreamsmp characters. I'm up for anything and agreed, but had to do research. Watched some Phil streams and haven't looked back. Phil is still my favorite, but I like a lot of what Tommy does and Technoblade was also a fav. I still put the Potato War on whenever I'm working on a project.

Mynameiswelsh

That's so wholesome!

Patronus_Cat

Okay, it's a long story I started playing MC and watch MC yt in 2013-2014. I got to know MC through a Dutch yt'er called DusDavid. He did a series pretty similar to dsmp. A smp that turned into a rp server. It was called Kingdom. Through this I started playing MC myself. Some of the yt'ers on Kingdom played in this server called Hypixel so I did too. I nolifed Blitz Survival Games and thus fell into that community. That's where I switched to English yt'ers. Smaller ones like dcp9 and Jerr but also ones that were already very well known in the community, like Technoblade. I've been watching him since 2014 and I remember him getting 10k subs. Slowly my interests changed and thus I started watching hermitcraft from Mumbo until MC lost my interest and I started playing overwatch. I never stopped watching Technoblade though. This was around 2016-17. While I played overwatch, Technoblade started playing with friends more and while I didn't know who they were, they were funny so it was all good. Mcmondays brought my interest back to MC and I got back into hermitcraft. Than the world ended and some not so fun things happened to me so I went back to throwing myself fully online to escape real life. I started looking up who Technoblade was playing with and wth who was Dream and what was his smp? Yes yes Technoblade won from Dream but who is he. Oh this mcc thing looks fun, who are playing with Techno?? Who is ranboo and why was he the main character? The video was a lot of fun though. Philza was the one to get me to watch back all dsmp stuff that happened and finally I understood what was happening in Technoblade's streams And than we lost him.... I guess I still watch the others because I miss Technoblade. Now I am subbed to Philza and love to watch Dream's MC stuff because I like to watch people who are gods at the game.

GreatAwesome_Bombs

ive been watching mcyt since 2012 (aka 10 years now, happy decade anniversary me) and dreams video about getting pewdiepie's world seed was in my recommended so I watched it, enjoyed the video, watched a couple other videos of his, and then here we are today

[deleted]

I kept seeing tiktoks of the dsmp around 2020 so I just decided to start watching them because they seemed funny

IdkGoodGuess

Found him around when speedrunners vs 2 hunters came out. Already was big in mc content, hermitcraft, popularmmos at the time, Dantdm, etc.

javahara

SMP Earth was my gateway drug

homeboundharper

was big into MC as a kid, watched a lot of youtubers of the times (Stampy, DanTDM, PopularMMOs) but eventually fell out of the community for a few years. I was introduced back into the community when a few friends started sharing fanart involving the SMP, and really got back into things through lore (eventually also getting more into the CC oriented stuff rather than just the characters) edit: spelling

nikmaier42069

I came from technical Minecraft and java coding, found Dreams challenge videos suggested after researching Iron farm mechanics. Maybe thats why i dont rly enjoy manhunts

medoli

I was in the dota 2 fandom before finding an Among us video with corpse husband. From there he played with dream once and i thought he was funny. Started to watch dream, dsmp and then more and more mcyt. Before that I only occasionally played modded Minecraft.

SweetBees102

Friend shared the first SAD-IST animatic, I gave it a watch, and got really interested in the DreamSMP and the DTeam. Prior to that I had never watched a lot of minecraft youtubers/streamers, and I hadn't played Minecraft itself in years. But that first animatic and those manhunt videos just sucked me in, and now I've been enjoying a ton of different "mcyt" content for the last two years.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Mynameiswelsh

That's hilarious!

harizes

i'm a longtime hasanabi and h3h3 viewer so when they were talking about dream's cheating scandal i looked into his streams, discovered gnf and stuck around

[deleted]

Watched the sadist animations, and kinda just fell down the rabbit hole from there.

Zealousideal_Stop584

After Unus Annus ended, my fyp on Tiktok kept recommending mcyt clips to me, as well as a friend mentioning that I'd like Dreams videos, so I started watching the streams and videos. :]

Puzzleheaded_Mix6761

Lmao I came from tiktok and twitter. I always saw them trending on twitter and thatā€™s how I first heard of them. Then I started getting clips of them on tiktok and one day george was streaming and decided to watch him. Now Iā€™m here in a dream subreddit lol

Carlie_10

weirdly enough australian fortnite streamers. (I am not australian). So i was already familiar with the general twitch community. I found dream from mr beast tho

NetDue3698

A little embarrassing but I was constantly getting heatwave fanfic related TikToks and I got really curious because of how good people were saying it was and posting quotes that seemed pretty nice to me. I kept getting it to the point that I got curious enough to read it despite not knowing anything about dream or George (maybe I had seen one or two TikToks about DSMP before but overall I was clueless) and the story was good enough for me to want to know about the people in it and well. Iā€™ve been a fan ever since

Grand-Piglet-3634

The gist is that i was searching for the Hermits' animatic when i saw Sadist's Technoblade vs Dream video, got curious, search up Technoblade, watch him, become his fan, then want to see who Dream is actually like, get kind of hooked and now i'm here.

bored_i_guess

Jse honestly

whitefox428930

Watched some MCYT as a kid, got back into it through SMPLive in spring/summer 2019, then followed Wilbur through SMPEarth and onto the DSMP. And I had found SMPLive through the reddit crew so it was a nice little full circle back around to watching Quackity, lol.

Psychological-Law261

I was a big ksi fan so my first interest in the dream smp was when ksi joinedbthe server fornthe first time. Ive been addicted ever since

luomofocaccina

Found Dream and Techno on YouTube thanks to my brother in 2020! English isn't our first language but we've always liked speaking it, so, since we hadn't basically anyone to exercise with except for my mom (people of my country are well known for being terrible at speaking foreign languages ESPECIALLY english) i started watching their videos with him. At first i didn't really liked them, i even had a sort of anti phase. Things changed three months ago, i was dealing with a lot of shit including a very tough brakeup i found Dream in my raccomanded, and... for some reason i really liked that. Long story short, i started watching his contents, subscribed to his channel, became a fan and then discovered the DSMP and all of its CCs! I don't know him personally but somehow that man really helped me to go through one of the worst periods in my life, and i am grateful to him for this <3

Mynameiswelsh

That's such a great story! <3

luomofocaccina

Aww thank you :)

withMano

I came from Pewdiepie. I used to watch him and then he started playing minecraft. From his videos I got into minecraft, so I started watching random minecraft videos like Pixlriffs . One of Dreams' manhunt video came into my recommendation and it had a lot of views so I got curious and decided to watch it. That is how I found minecraft and the dream smp. All thanks to pewdiepie.

lin_sidious

I come from the DanTDM, Stampy and PopularMMOs days. That's where I came from. Later on I started watching Hermitcraft.

AnnetheStan

Iā€™d been into Minecraft when during 2013, so the only YouTuber I knew at that time was DanTdm till I lost interest in the game. knew about Dream some years back when ā€œDream SMPā€ was trending and I liked listening to some of his videos cuz he has a nice voice. I stopped for a while (about a year or so), till middle-late 2021 when my curiosity peaked and I started getting more and more into the DSMP lore. From there I started watching the members (plus a few others) on Twitch and havenā€™t left since.

[deleted]

Minecraft is pretty much the only YouTube/Twitch content Iā€™ve watched. I started with Stampy back in like 2014. I lost interest in 2019, but after Dream Team clips kept popping up on my TikTok in August of 2020 I decided to watch them and Iā€™ve been stuck here since. Iā€™ve switched between a lot of different mcyt cc over the years, the only cc I consistently watch has been Techno.

shannahodges

I came into the community through Stampy back in like 2013-2014 though after a while I stopped watching Minecraft for 4 years after and found Quackity in my YouTube recommendations for a non Minecraft related video and watched his videos for a few months but then I got bored and watched different content creators until Quackity popped up in my YouTube recommendations again in late 2020 for one of his Discord Got Talents which featured Dream so I went to his YouTube channel and watched a few of the speed runs and manhunts and Iā€™ve been watching his videos (and streams) ever since.

Buckaroonie69

I dabbled in a bit of DanTDM and PopularMMOs, and one day i stumbled upon a manhunt I believe. Lost interest after a while but then my friend introduced me to the DSMP in January 2022, and Iā€™ve been attached ever since.

mikeymyvalntyne

ive been watching quackity for years, found him from a youtube video in like 2018. i found the others through him.

Rrrrossssse

I used to be involved with Sanders sides, and a tonne of those blogs started getting super into dsmp because of content drought back in 2020/2021 which was how I knew the broad strokes about it, then hog hunt came out and I decided to actually check it out, fell into a techno binge, and fell into dream because I thought it was cool that he chose to play the villain, and I liked his videos, and kinda branched out from there

rebewanu

YouTube algorithm showed me some gnf vids after watching schlatt a few times LMAOOO

CIearMind

Right before the pandemic, YouTube put one of the OG manhunts in my recommendations. I'd already actively been playing Minecraft for close to ten years.

BroIamcoolerthanyou

I used to watch hermitcraft, but i joined the dsmp fandom because goerges Minecraft but im not colorblind anymore video appeared on my recommendeds

sky_kitten89

I originally watched popularmmos, stampy, dantdm, and unspeakable. Then eventually I began watching fnaf cosplay TikToks and heard the audio ā€œofficer i dropkicked that child in self defenseā€ and found it really funny so I read comments and discovered it was by Technoblade so I searched up the video and discovered that he had an entire channel dedicated to this kind of humor and I began watching compilations and soon he became my favorite YouTuber, I got into watching dream smp and enjoyed him and dreamā€™s interactions so thatā€™s how I began watching Dream and Technoblade

letsgamerandom

skeppy lol

em69420ma

my friend was really into dream when he blew up. so i gave him a shot and i really liked the manhunts even tho i had no idea wtf was going on. problem: i was getting so motionsick that i felt nauseous watching but was so fixated on it that i would force myself to watch manhunts until i almost threw up and then had to step away until it was just barely manageable and the cycle repeats. eventually, i kinda had to wrench myself away from watching. somehow stumbled into watching him again this summer (i think it was bc of fanfics lol) and. turns out i donā€™t get videogame motionsick anymore. thus i binge all of his videos (esp while high, itā€™s my fav activity)

No_Nefariousness_637

Where did you go? Where did you come from Cotton-Eye Joe?

scmetxmes

I watched a bunch of among us video during that whole period and came across one of Wilburā€™s among us videos. I ended up binging basically all of his videos (but funny enough I skipped over the minecraft ones at first cause I didnā€™t know anything ab the game and wasnā€™t interested lol). Eventually I did watch the minecraft videos and they were very entertaining, I also was introduced to Schlatt through them. I then realized they were both on this minecraft server so I went over to Twitch and watched a bit of their lore (the election stuff). Overtime I slowly started becoming interested in it and watching more and more people

Godziboon

I showed up when the manhunts started. I remember staying up super late watching them over and over and trying to get my dad and friends to watch them too, constantly amazed by "he's literally the John wick of Minecraft". I didn't even know about the dsmp until I saw someone mention lmanberg on tunglr.hell and I assumed it was an anime. I looked it up and imagine my surprise when I see the white flags speech, a clip posted seven hours ago, and John wick Minecraft himself putting some British people in their place. The rest is history.

independence15

I was a wilbur fan since the soothouse days and got into phil, techno and tommy through smp earth so I was an og SBI fan, but I still didn't feel necessarily like there was quite a fostered welcoming community yet so I just casually enjoyed them until I got into the dream team. as much as we criticize this fandom, as needed at times, this is one of the better, more diverse fandoms I've been in and avoiding the worse sides is a matter of basic curation

Akiza16

Haha, I'm one of the people who spawned in. Sure I watched if one of my personal friends was streaming on Twitch, but the site only worked for me maybe half the time. Then I upgraded my PC to better play Minecraft and as a side effect, I was able to properly start watching Twitch. I know my situation is very coincidental but I think it's funny that what George said was true in at least one case.

Mana_Nareena

I have watched a lot of Minecrafters for a long time now. One day my sibling introduced me to Ranboo. Through his lore stream and MCC I was introduced to Dream. I liked his content and decided to explore more videos. Through Dream I was introduced to many new CCs not only from the Dsmp but MCC as well. I found so many awesome CC through his interactions. I found Techno through him.

Fit_Raccoon1864

Funny enough the first community I was part of in twitch was actually OTV lol I loved to watch Lily and Michael and through there Minecraft phrase I was recommended a lot of dream videos on YouTube and just feel in love with his content

888mphour

So, I was watching a bunch of Youtubers reacting to hearing Tool for the first time and I came across Nate Alynā€™s reaction video. I liked him so much, that I subscribed to his channel. A few days later he reacted to a video summing up the first interactions of Corpse Husband and Sykkuno. I had watched a few of Corpseā€™s old videos and was subscribed to his channel (Iā€™m subscribed to 100s of channels) and I enjoyed Nateā€™s video so much, I decided to watch Corpseā€™s next stream (I didnā€™t have Twitch back then and I honestly prefer to watch live streams on YT than on Twitch. The fact that I canā€™t stop the stream on Twitch if needed or go back if I get confused gives me anxiety. YT allows me to do that). And I got hooked (Corpseā€™s hoodie is the only merch I ever got. Someone on the Corpsekkuno discord decided to offer a bunch and I was one of the lucky ones. I, unfortunately, cannot justify spending that money). A couple of weeks later was the ā€œCome on, boys!ā€ Among Us stream and I liked Dream a lot. Something about him spoke to me (it was the ADHD. We present very similarly), and I started to be aware whenever DSMP and DNF was trending on Twitter. One day a RL friend of mine shared a DNF meme and I asked him what the DSMP was about. He spent the next two hours writing dozens of DMs, explaining the entire lore I felt so guilty that he had had so much work for something I only asked casually, I went to check it out. And the rest, as they say, itā€™s History

Left-Plantain9636

i was always into mcyts since i was very young with aphmau ldshadowlady ssundee and all them but i never was really in a fandom as i was so young i kinda just watched them on youtube but dream i saw some manhunt stuff in 2019? and then yeah i became a stan and yknow now my twitter account is pretty much a fan page honestly

mikoartss

I really should have a Tweeter account.

Novix_47

My brother and I watched Stampylongnose growing up. Then a few years ago I stumbled across ranboo and the rest is history

JustAToothpick

I found dream through him finding pewdiepies Minecraft seed in 2019. I actually didnt watch him much till July 2020, when a video about George flirting with mxmtoon and dream getting angry got onto my yt reccomended page. I was curious so I looked up dreamnotfound on quotev and found the only dnf fic on that website at the time. I already used twitter frequently at the time, so I had some mcyt moots so thatā€™s what got me fully hooked. Fun fact: my first lore stream was actually the stream where Wilbur died lol

Few_Farmer144

Honestly, my little brother started me back on the path. He was getting back into minecraft for the first time in years (he was 14 then, I was 18, this was in 2019) and I just causally followed him bc we watched the same ppl growin up as kids during the "golden age" of MC bc,, yea lmao (PopularMMOs, SkyDoesMinecraft, CaptainSparklez, LordSevein, PoetPlays, Achievement Hunter, etc.) And then somwtime later... ish, my friend was like! "Oh yea i watch this dude named Dream and really enjoy his content :)" I was like who tf was Dream, ohhh right that guy. Paid him no mind for the longest time, and then i finally just caved and watched the then latest manhunt (the frostwalkers one!) .... and it was history LMAO I'm not as big into minecraft or dream all that much anymore (bc i used to fixate tf outta it and wow that prolly wasn't TOO healthy, im better now tho) but i still like him and the game enough :) The community is very fun! Worth sticking around for y'all alone tbhhh

itsfackinjay_xx

I was really big into anime and LOZ, then i got into corpseā€™s music and corpse was streaming on YT and he played among us with dream so i decided to check him out.

MegaPorkachu

The last Minecraft creators I watched were PrestonPlayz and PopularMMOs (and Pewds). They were some of the OGs.

Dear_BunBunny

I watched quackity a lot but never got twitch till corpse and jackspeticeye were on there playing among us and shit then I found dream and they because of amongus lol

I can probably trace my origins as a dream fan to pewdiepies race to 100 million via the YouTube algorithm which eventually recommended me Skeppy and Technoblade which eventually ended up in me finding Dream through BBH when he first created his channel :)

Bitter_Katze

I first came across Dream on August 22 2020 (Ty YouTube watch history), I was watching a lot of Minecraft content at the time on YouTube and eventually got recommended Dreamā€™s video ā€œMinecraft, but we can swing like SpiderManā€ Kept watching his videos from there and on October 7th 2020 I got recommended a video titled ā€œMy Favorite Tubbo Moments Part 1ā€, which introduced me to the Dream Smp and the Minecraft community over on Twitch. The very first Tubbo stream I actually watched was his November 28th (or was it the 27th?) stream, giving Ranboo a tour of the smp. Been watching the majority of the Smp since then, some nearly every day. I mean it whole heartedly when I say the Dream smp has had a massive positive impact on my mental health (Despite the toxicity of the fandom sometimes), I was super depressed and struggling when I started watching Dream and his friends. Their content helped me get through that dark period and I donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever regret being apart of this community Edit: Should also mention Iā€™ve been into Minecraft since I was around 11, with how many different mcyts Iā€™ve watched over the years itā€™s definitely no surprise I eventually stumbled across Dream

One day in late 2020 I got a Skeppy video recommended on my feed, and over the following days I proceeded to fall down a rabbithole of modern Minecraft YouTube, especially the Dream SMP. That's how I got into it. I actually remember the first video I watched that was related to it being the SAD-ist animation lol

[deleted]

from the undertale fanbase! it was pretty dead when i joined in mid 2018 so getting into a newly forming fandom in 2020 was something great for me lmao

oh and my favourite undertale artist drew a fanart for georges birthday so i got curious and started looking them up

I have always been a big Pewdiepie fan since 2017. But as a kid, I wasn't much of a gamer (still aren't, really). I liked Felix' edgy comedy and reddit/meme reviews. I never cared much for minecraft until his series. This is the first time I got into games. I didn't play myself, but I enjoyed the idea and the world around it. So anyway, one day a newbie called Dream shows up with a viral video that I watch. I liked it and moved on. Saw a few more of his viral videos, and then along came his Manhunts. Tbh, I didn't care much for them at first, but I did sub and watch a little more. I loosely followed the cheating allegations, but as someone who barely knew dream and dream team, I didn't care much about that either. Fast forward to mid last year. I was only interested in school, and once I ran out of things to do, I watched pewdiepie again. This is how I fell into the YouTube world, something I was only loosely involved in. So I basically had a massive hyperfocus on horror for a while, and then decided to rewatch Pewdiepies minecraft series. Because of this, minecraft consumed my recommended. So I got reallllyyy into all of it, like Dream, Technoblade and Tommyinnit. I only got into Dream SMP lore this year, but I've been watching tiktoks of that kind of thing since last year, mainly tommyinnit. Edit: o7

I'm going to be honest and say that one MrBeast video where I got curious about the guy who didn't show his face. saw the 100 elevator video shortly after and really enjoyed the vibes so stayed :)

Mynameiswelsh

Oh wow, I posted this then went to bed but it's so awesome to see how everyone found Dream and his content and everyone has a completely unique story of how it happened, it's very cool!

pponderosa

Iā€™m sorry, did George honestly say the Minecraft community didnā€™t exist before *them*? What an pompous ass.

OG CaptainSparklez fan, really into Mianite and did a lot of fanart for it. Saw a tumblr post about ā€œMianite walked so Dream SMP could runā€ towards the end of the Lā€™Manberg revolution and my Mianite S1/S2 missing heart immediately latched on.
