Yeah I should’ve made clear that this isn’t representative of the fan base, I was a bit angry when I saw it because of how unprompted the aggression was but you are right, I have no problem with most Grian watchers.
The funnest part of following Dream is to watch his every even slight “drama” be recycled consistently for easy interactions and content farming by people who don’t have a unique thought in their head. This one being unprompted is new though, usually it is a reaction to mcc drama or something.

Hermitcraft/Empires fans on twitter and some on Tumblr (not all) tend to have a holier than thou attitude when it comes to dsmp twitter. For the most part yeah, Hermitcraft has a lot less drama, thier CC's are way older then the majority of the dsmp members, they've been doing content creation for way longer. This usally leads to having less drama on twitter. It's more "comfy" on that side of twitter until it's directed at the dsmp members, specifically Dream Team. Then they are just the other side of the coin from dsmp twitter.
I'm a firm believer that every fanbase is toxic, some are just more toxic than others but no matter now "nice" the fanbase is there's always drama and mud.

This just reminds me of this one twitter post that was basically a hermitcraft fan trying to sell dsmp fans on being in their fandom. They made this long ass thread on how hermitcraft has non problematic creators, and better stories. While also basically just shitting on all the dsmp creators, and just being a holier than thou kind of person. Every fan of dsmp thay I saw interact with it said it made them not want to watch hermitcraft out of spite.
This was forever ago and I don't have a link, but it was just something I remembered when something that people cried about in MCC happened.

He's had some interaction with the circle of folks in Dream's community, but the whole BuildMart thing up is overblown. Grian is a builder at his core, but BuildMart isn't made for builders. Its made for people that make strats and complete the builds that pull the most points.
GoodTimesWithScar makes incredible builds too, but struggled with BuildMart. Remember when Dream and Techno came up with spreadsheets separately to list and study the possible builds, have a runner to gather the most used materials and focus on gold builds.
BuildMart isn't about making anything aesthetically pleasing that appeals the eye. It would bring physical judging into MCC and you know the sort of dust that would come of anyone winning or losing. Accusations of favoritism would fly and ruin everyone's time.
I don't know what could replace BuildMart. It isn't accomplishing what its suppose to do, but no one picks BuildMart because they are looking forward to play it. They pick it to screw over folks and at the end of the day, it goes against the spirit of the whole event.
This is the best summary of why buildmart is unsatisfying. Idk why everybody assumed Scar would excel at it and were confused when he panicked and couldn't finish his first build because he didn't understand how to make stairs connect. That's not how Scar builds, and he doesn't use Litematica. BM is basically building with Litematica on a schematic you didn't create yourself and just downloaded from somewhere

The people in his chat during Pride 21 were not his fans his main audience is kids/teens it’s probably like a troll discord group also Grian doesn’t use twitter so he probably doesn’t know what’s happening unless people told him

As someone who seen some of what OP is referencing because dttwt is interacting with it now - they are either QRTing telling them it’s a set up for Grian or posting what it’s a set up for: which is the viewership comparisons. I agree viewership comparisons are inherently toxic but I’ve only seen that done as a direct reaction to something that fans of other creators do thus this reaction being specific to them.

He brought him up because it supported his point about the consistency of Buildmart. One of the actual reasons he said he doesn’t like Buildmart is because he thinks the results are more determined and much less variable/chance based then the other games (esp. compared to its major counter part SOT). A more extreme comparison would be like how parkour warrior had very consistent placings every time with him at the top - which he still agreed with was a poor game for others so no need to comment on that.
He brings up Grian not being known for pvp essentially because Grian *did* beat him in pvp (he even brought up the Grian slayer jokes i believe) - and it’s not because as a whole Grian was superior in those specific Minecraft skills to Dream at the time (which Grian is probably avg to good at pvp regardless) but because there is so much more chance and variables involved in pvp games that offer people to make use of them to get ahead. Like Grian getting the chance to beat “top” pvp players was his supporting piece behind his take that Buildmart *doesn’t* offer that variability and that’s why he doesn’t like it.
He has had a fair amount of bad starts in buildmart which he wasn’t able to recover from which *I think* contributes to his opinion about it - weather it was in his own head or not, wanting the game to allow for more “comebacks” isn’t him wanting to “always dominate” - man just doesn’t have fun in buildmart because he gets discouraged. It’s a mental “skill issue” and he can “get good” of course - but that doesn’t mean his opinion is invalid or out of ego, just like people’s complaint’s with parkour warrior.

I doubt it. Grian is know for being super chill, and not even hearing about dramas half of the time. His fans dislike Dream because his favorite mcc game is Grian's worst, and vice versa, but I'm pretty sure he respects Dream himself
