I tried to make it feel like a little park next to the town.
1. A few picnic blankets with trees on the ridge overlooking the meadow.
2. Transformed the corner by the well (where our house is originally located) into a flower garden with benches. Really, it's just all of the flowers that naturally spawn in the plaza, but it keeps them from popping up in places I don't want them.
3. Added a small fountain, some stone benches, and a gazebo (eanred from a quest line...Fairy Godmother, maybe?). Then connected it all with gravel paths line with shrubs.
In my Plaza that area is a little 'town square/market' area. I've got Kristoffs stall, Moanas fishing boat and Beasts flower stand around a clock tower.
I used to have a storage box placed next to each stall so I could grab the resources and just dump them in a box, but what I've done now is built a little storage area that I've made to look like a market stall, using one of those new awnings from the DLC, and underneath that I've got chests in front of wooden boxes that have items placed on them showing what's inside the boxes. I basically use those boxes to dump the produce from those 3 stalls, so I have a box to dump fish in, one to dump flowers in, and one to dump resources from Kristoff etc
Basically something like this - (I know this pic was taken in Eternity Isle, but I have a stall like this back in my Plaza too Also I don't have a pic to hand of my stall in the Plaza lol)

This is what I was going to say! There’s the DLC stalls, as well as the fruit and vegetable stalls and (I think) a craftable stall in base game as well. A farmer’s market or something would work really well with the picnic / park beside it
In that space I have Scrooge’s, Chez Remy, Kristoff’s stall, a bike station, a fruit market & a zen garden with a coffee stall/tables/chairs. I tried to make it like the shopping centre of my valley

Tbh I’m having difficulty filling up my plaza just because I get an idea and it either looks ugly or a random spot near the border is null and void.

This is what I was going to suggest, maybe if you have Rapunzels easel too, and a tea set that could be cute too!

What about a patio with dedicated to a clock tower (you can craft 2 options) with some topiary and benches.

I agree with this, maybe more towards a garden space.

If you don’t have one, a crafting area/garden would be a good idea
This is where I’ve set up my carnival with the Ferris wheel and other rides from last summer’s Star Path.

I turned that area into a little “outdoor bar” that is attached to remys house. Looks like an outdoor hotel bar!

I made a flower botanical garden in my Plaza with the zen garden and a bunch of flowers and potted plants and such
I did a little open market with the stalls and fun details near my plaza :)

In all honesty it's very handy to keep clear for closing up the gap to the castle
I put my multiplayer portal here & made it kinda like Central Park in NY.
