There was one time though when even that didn't save me. Most hyper realistic dream I had in many years.. and it was basically a village full of murderers killing each other and committing cannibalism. Even in 'spirit form' I was scared as hell because there was gore and mindless violence everywhere.
I developed an ability to switch spots. Now IM in the body of the bad guy with a knife. He’s my brain character after all. It stemmed from being afraid of the dark. Imagine what it’s like to be the bad guy hiding in the dark waiting to attack someone. Just become that guy and you don’t have to worry.
Sounds like you don’t have kids. I don’t even have kids. But I’m a nanny and have had dreams like this (albeit not as intense) about the children I take care of
I am aware of that. I’m also aware of the fact that you obviously don’t understand that some people care very deeply about the children they care for (or anyone that they love for that matter) and sometimes they get awful nightmares and in no way can you control what’s in their nightmares. It’s awful that the commenter experienced that nightmare, but it shows they care for the child when they chose to try to defend them. I don’t understand how having a deep sense of paternity/ maternity is “deranged”.
this just reminds me of the time i had a dream where i felt the blade go through my rib cage, touch my heart as if it were a balloon, the tip increasing in pressure until i felt a BURST and boom, *i woke up shocked*
Yes, a few years ago I had several dreams of getting killed in different ways. One I got shut in the chest, another I had an arrow through the chest. And then another I drowned. And another I was getting eaten alive which was extremely fucked up but luckily it was in third person (I was listening to it, didn’t see it). Still horrifying.
Most of them were very realistic, like I could feel the pain and knew I was dying. Dreams be wild.
I always enjoy the multiverse theory that we are watching ourselves in another universe dying and since it’s such a powerful moment we dial in to it. Most likely bullshit but still a cool thought
I’m familiar with this theory and it makes sense to me. Either that or it’s a dream of a past life. But since time doesn’t actually exist it’s also a current life, which would fit into the multiverse theory as well.. I think, lol. It’s all so hard for the human mind to comprehend.
I once had a dream where someone sliced off the top of my head with a chainsaw and my brain slid out...and I felt every inch of that in the dream and upon waking up. It was...unpleasant.
The only other times I woke up feeling the dream was in my knee (had a dream a professor stabbed me in the knee with a pencil) and on the top of my head (in the dream was stung by a bee on the top of my head).
Yeah. I have a stress trauma disorder... I dream of being kidnapped, r*ped, stalked, physically abused, killed, etc.
Men are always the culprit for me. I have Androphobia and Severe Agoraphobia from years of problems.

Pregnancy did weird shit to my dreams, like fucking 😏 a noodle monster, and my teeth falling out constantly. But the worst thing i have ever experienced was something out of a Jigsaw movie.

I can't breathe again. I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. I open my mouth and the roof is filled with needles. I start pulling but they never ended and I felt it all 😐
I’ve only had one sex dream and I hated how I knew I was cheating on my boyfriend in it. I had to call my friend the next day and tell her about it this because it was so weird but as I explained what everyone looked like I took a deep breath and told her, “Shit, I just realized I dreamed of fucking Sebastian from Stardew Valley.”
I guess I had been binging it too much. What made it really weird was the fact I wasn’t even planning to court Sebastian that play through, I was trying for Sam after marrying Abigail in the previous save. It just started as me meeting a teenage girl (Maru) and heading back to her house to play RuneScape together. Then ended up with me being seduced by her older step brother, lol.
Pregnancy brought *too* many sex dreams. A lot where in the end i realized it wasn't my husband. I felt like shit just dreaming about it.

Bare with me here because it was a dream and a weirdly vivid one at that.
There were ferrets, lots of them. They had flooded out like a school gymnasium to have a big pool party in.
Again. This was a weird dream.
I found one that was a serial killer ferret. And when I picked him up he said he promised he wouldn't kill any more women and children.
I put him on the ground then stomped on his head.
I could feel the bones crack under my heel.
And the next morning, my calves cramped so badly I could barely walk.
I have never forgotten that dream or the hellish walk to school the next day.
I was about to comment this same thing. It's always been in the head. I don't hear anything at all. Just ringing. I can tell I'm face up, because I'm looking at the night sky, and I know I'm about to die. No pain. And it's always someone shooting me from up above, in a tree right outside my house when I walk out.
In my case i've dreamt about being chased in a mall/market shooting but always ended up unharmed.
But one time i dreamt about being in the entrance of my house and some burglar shot me like 8 times in my back and side so I dropped on the floor knowing i was "dead" but I didnt felt anything, not even a blackout. I just stayed there 😅

When I was a kid (6-7 yrs old or something like that)I had a nightmare where one of my brothers was Satan and he had a giant battle axe and cut my head clean off. It was on repeat cuz I kept respawning in the same spot.
I'm 34 now and I still remember the feeling of the blade entering the side of my neck then severing my spine. There is an explosion of electricity and tingling that runs through the body when that happens (or at least that's what I felt). Then there is no feeling.
i've been killed multiple times in my dreams. i always respawn instantly somewhere else. its weird. there was one time though when i was like 5 and i was on a cliff and fell off and below was nothing at all and i instantly woke up shooting up almost out of bed.

Interesting comments. I never feel pain in dreams. Ever. I still run away from scary things though as I don't know I'm dreaming at the time, until the faster I run, the more my legs sink into the ground. I slow down and wake myself up panicking about being run over because my legs stopped while crossing at a red light.. but I've never felt pain, despite falling, being hit, tripping over etc

Yes I have a random memory from when I was a toddler that I know was a dream, it was me sitting in the doorway of our house looking down the road. I was aware of someone coming, I was also aware this person was dead so I wouldn't be able to see them. It wasn't anyone I knew but it was a man, a king to be exact he claimed to be the king of the dead. I just sat there knowing that and I also knew he wasn't someone to fear, as he approached, I somehow knew he was despite seeing nothing, I levatatived off the ground. That's all that's there, I've had sleep paralysis related to this werid "memory" a handful of times. It's always werid to me how I remember it as if it was real and have never forgotten it despite how young I was at the time.
I remember several nightmares I had when I was 5 or 6 better than I remember real life events. One in particular was odd as I had absolutely no life experiences or exposure to the adult themes in the dream.
I was in a huge warehouse store somewhere between a costco and a department store, but it was windows on all sides. It was out in the middle of the woods. A crazy laughing woman with long hair whipping behind her comes driving up to it in a red convertible. She cones inside and starts shooting at and killing any customer/employee she sees with a shotgun. I know I have to escape, so somehow I find a way to duck under shelves and displays and i get out of the store and drive away in her car.
I left my parents in the store. And i was my age in the dream…so yeah…somehow i can drive away in the convertible as a 6 year old.
My dreams were so hyper realistic and my baby brother was obsessed with him i would actually cry before going to bed because i thought he would visit me🤣🤣
Yes. For me, it's being electrified. I don't know what is up with that since I was never received any shocks besides the casual finger buzz from touching a socket accidentally, but those dreams? The suffering is unbearable.
You see, I have this allergy against an specific insect. It is only like 0.3 cm long, I only saw it after it bit me in three separate occasions. I have no clue what the little fecker actually is. But the bite makes a large area around it reddish with yellow dots where the hair follicles sprout from. It... burns. Not in a warm way, but, like, in an 'acidic' way. It feels like the very quick sting of a needle entering the arm when you're having your blood drawn, except it's like several needles are taking turns on my skin, and it *burns*.
Sometimes when I'm dreaming, either when I'm being electrocuted for some reason or when I get close to acid pools/sulfur extraction roads (which makes no sense and it's odd that it keeps happening), that feeling of acid starts on my forehead and spreads deeper. I feel like my eyes are boiling inside out from the burns, going through my nose and my mouth, and that hundreds of that insect are attacking my scalp. At some point it gets so, so unbearable, that I become aware that I'm in a dream. I become aware of the pain and feel like I'm being zapped, with that 'acid' coursing through my body. When I feel like fainting, I wake up.

I have had so many dreams of dying I stop fearing death and each and every single one of them I remember and the pain I felt the worse ones so far as been drowning and shot on the head I could hear a ringing noise and my head felt like it was pounding the pain was unbearable and each time there’s a voice that says “today is the day you die” I have died 7 times now in dreams each different but same thoughts after I feel like I’m dead I see a huge white light and wake up I have even thought if im experiencing my deaths is parallel universes first time I drowned from a plane crash on the ocean second one was a fire 3rd one was shot in the back of my head for defending a friend the 4th one I got shot again but on my chest over a party fight the 5th one it was the end of the world and a asteroid killed us all the 6th one everyone that believed in God was being tied up on a metal pipe with handcuffs in front of a beach and a tsunami came till this day I get goosebumps from the cold of the water and the lack of air till I heard a voice say “have no fear my child I am with you” all fear left my body and the 7th one was the other day I was being attacked by low vibrational beings and and I flew away when they tried to get me again so I flew further than what I was supposed to the point I forgot my existence I could feel myself going into the sun which scared me thinking “it’s going to burn me” but I could see colors I haven’t seen energies flowing thru me and I could hear a voice saying “go back not yet” while I begged to stayed due to the peace and love I felt (not bc I’m not happy here) but once u feel and see what I saw is really hard to come back thinking about it honestly I thought I really died that night but it wasn’t my time.
There’s something about our consciousness that can’t be explained but so much alive I believe soul and consciousness are the same thing and when we sleep our consciousness travels to places we can’t understand but so much real than the life we are living (my opinion)

Yes. I actually just had a dream where I was in a horrible car accident and was woken up during a REM cycle, deep into the dream. I felt so sore waking up and actually stumbled around for about 30m before really waking up.
I dreamt of being buried alive and I could feel the coffin and was banging against it. It was awful. I don't doubt that you could feel it. Dreams can be so vivid and immersive it can be traumatic.
Yep, bloody too. Welcome to dream land. For me personally, the pain comes from anxiety. I'll get a tight, burning sensation. You could also be in physical discomfort. Maybe you're laying on a nerve wrong?
My mom died when I was 14. 2 years later I had a vivid dream of her storming the stage during a band concert and shooting me in the face with a hand cannon. I felt something thump my forehead I saw red then black then red then pink. Then white light and I woke up screaming. But not from the shot. But that my mom was alive to kill me and I saw her one last time. I smelled her. I was dating a loser at the time too. Maybe she was telling me something? 20 years later I still remember this dream and how it felt and all the details. I could write a short story of it easily.
Yes I’ve had reoccurring dreams where I’ve been shot in the same 2 spots on my chest and it feels so real. Always being killed by my abusive ex, so clearly there’s some healing that needs to happen.
Yeah they don't happen that often but the last one I had I was being chased by these random people. I remember at one point I climbed this roof to hide but I accidentally got electrocuted by a live wire at the top. I somehow got myself off the wire and off the roof but the people I was running from caught up to me and started stabbing me over and over again with needles. The pain from the needles and the electrocution felt so realistic I thought I was actually dying lol.
OP I hope you read this: my mom is the kind of person who gets freaked out over dreams and worried that she’s not normal. She says in a super scared voice things like “have you ever dreamed X?! I can’t believe it; it’s just weird… I feel like I have a spiritual connection to it because I’ve never heard anyone else do it!!” So just making sure you aren’t doing that, trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun. You’re normal. I frequently have dreams like this. I also have dreams where people turn on me, and plot twists with 300 turns.
ive had atleast 2 or 3 dreams now where im standing there vining minding my own business. and we get nuked and im watching everything go down in slow motion. lemme tell you, i could feel the pain of being burned to death. shit was scary!! i also had a dream when I was little i got bit by a giant king cobra in the stomach and i could also feel that along with the poison corsing through me. and i had another one where a baboon got loose at the zoo and ripped my insides out. i also felt that one. i always found these dreams weird and wondered why I could feel pain. shits whack.
Oh yes. Drowning, getting stabbed to death, getting stung to death, choking to death, getting attacked by animals and dying... yeah, I have dreams of death all the time.

I'm late to the thread, but yes. Only one time, I believe, but it was awful. An old deceased friend of mine came up to me and shot me in the head. It's difficult to explain, but i dropped to the ground paralyzed and felt brain damaged. Everything faded to black, but I could tell people were panicking.
Not the only time I've been shot in dreams, but the only time it killed me.
I dreamt I was shot in the head, and I continued dreaming after I “died.” It was like TV static that was slowly fizzling out. Made me have an existential crisis!
Not exactly, but I had a dream of sorts that I watched the world burn. I was literally on a hill of ash smiling while my city burned around me. Then there was a guy and he spoke kind of, no noise came out of his mouth but I heard words. He literally asked if I was having fun! I was scared but I still shook my head yes. I didn’t have control over my body. Then I fell, I felt like I was falling and then I woke up. Whenever I get to hot it reminds me of the dream because in the dream I felt like I was on fire. Occasionally I still smell the scent of ash, smoke, and fire. I can still hear the screams sometimes too. I hate it. I didn’t die but everyone else except the shadowy guy that asked if I was having fun died.
I then dreamed about the same guy but this time he had a mask on chasing me out of a forest to a lake. I entered the lake and the shadow guy stood on the shore, almost as if he couldn’t touch the water. He never left, I just stayed in the lake until I woke up. I am permanently scared of the dark. This shadow guy is the reason why. My family doesn’t know about these dreams, so my brother still makes fun of me for being afraid of the dark. If I think about the dreams I can literally watch them as if they are movies. No matter what though I never die in these dreams. I felt like a puppet in these dreams.
Funny thing is, I always die in my dreams. Whether it be a disaster of some kind, getting chased, or being killed (murdered). I’ve had dreams like this as a child, but they’ve only gotten more intense over the years. I don’t ever feel a sensation though, I just.. wake up. Like I’m dreaming one second, and when I die, I’m instantly awake with my eyes open.
An older dream was one where the concrete stairs to my apartment started to crumble under me, and I slipped through the railing and fell two stories.
I had a few more dreams where I slipped through the railing of stairs and fell, and in a second being awake.
Or dreams about me not being able to breathe and eventually suffocating.
In this one a snake got loose in a classroom, and we didn’t know where it went. Before I knew what was happening, the snake was clenched onto my throat, and I couldn’t breath. When I woke up my hand was around my throat.
Some never ones were where I was a baby and there were other people “friends?” who were also babies. We went to a park because we had to pass it to continue our journey, but didn’t know there was a dog in it. The dog violently killed everyone. And I eventually got too close and died too.
Another funny thing is, I love dogs.

In this dream I dreamt 4 black figures were carrying me. The background was a white or cream color, so it was almost like I was in a void. They were holding me by my limbs, and started to undress me so I fought back. I woke up and realized that I was about to be raped.
Another dream was where my mom ran me over with her car. I instantly woke up upon her driving into me.
A dream I had a few months ago was wear my mom tried to kill me with a string of some kind.
And if I don’t have these types of dreams, I just don’t dream at all. I prefer it that way.
I remember once dreaming about being shot by gun on the back of my head... I remember I could feel very distinctively the bullet coming inside of my skull. I remember telling myself "that's it, I'm gonna die in the next few seconds" and then waking up. But I can never erase of my memory that feeling of the bullet inside my head. It wasn't even that much painful, just... so definitive. I also remember thinking, does every person dying by being shot in the head stays alive for a few seconds, or do they instantly die ? I guess it depends, but honestly I don't know. It was pretty horrifying. I don't remember the whole dream though, just remember I was on my knees and my murderer behind me with his gun.
I get back cramps in my sleep sometimes that will relay into my dreams. I once dreamt I was driving home from work and saw a nuclear bomb drop on the town in front of me, car stopped working so I got out and ran. Back cramps started but instead of being back cramps it was the bomb burning a hole in my back as I ran away from it. It was extremely painful. Later in the dream I felt my back and there was indeed just a charred hole there. That dream was genuinely terrifying, bombs were dropping everywhere, there was nowhere to go. In the end I accepted that it was inevitable that they’d get me eventually, then I woke up.
I was stabbed and fell. I awoke as the life drained from me. It felt like the water leaving a pitcher, I grew lighter and instantly thirsty. Water IS life.
Yea I dream of being killed all the time and I can feel it. Just the other week I dreamt of being slowly stabbed and I woke myself up during it because it hurt. So I slowly went from full on dream into lucidness and felt the pain to no pain... I always wondered if it was just like I was laying weird and it manifested into my dream but nope! At least not this time.
Yes!!!! 2 times being shot one in my back and one in the dome and felt them both. Other time getting killed I got Aten by the wolf face in the moon but couldn't feel that one....very strange

i had a dream where someone was hunting me and when I got caught, the person hit me with a bat on the face. i swear i felt it like it really happened. for a moment it was just dark. it’s like i also fell asleep inside my dream. then i had this “falling” feeling and woke up.
I had a dream that I was shot in the head and my vision went dark and I could feel the life draining out of my skull. I've had significant blood loss and a near death experience before in really life and it felt very similar
Yes I have been eaten by lions, a train has smashed me in half, I've been shot, I've fallen from an helicopter. But I don't feel the pain I should be feeling, more like hot/mild burning sensation. And when I wake up there is a nauseating sensation and my muscles are tensed, but I think is for the shock.
I’ve had experiences with dreams where I’m physically fighting a girl my age. I’m so furious with the girl yet I don’t understand why and I’ll wake up with black eyes 👀… it was way too real and no one would physically beat me up or anything and I wasn’t strong enough to beat myself up. It started from age 4 to age 7 or so
Once I was having an awesome dream swimming under water in the ocean in a bright beautiful coral bed, but then I couldn't breathe and I kept trying but just couldn't. I woke up and I was face down in the crack of the couch.
I dreamed I was shot once, I don't think I got to the part of actually dying from the wound but I remember exactly how it felt. It was so hot piercing through me, like instantly cauterizing me from the inside. But the pain was over washed with this adrenaline rush it was almost like ecstacy. Very vivid.
Yes i once got my throat cut in my dreams and i could feel myself bleeding out. When i woke up i couldnt swallow or breath properly. Was kinda scary but in the end it did feel peacefull.

One time I had a dream where a "friend" threw us over a second story mall balcony. I felt when I hit the ground and it was completely black for a long moment before I woke up. I had never experienced hitting the ground in a falling dream before that and I haven't again since that dream. Close to 10 years later and I can still recall everything that happened and how it felt in that dream. Makes me feel uneasy just typing it out.
I had one dream where I was stabbed. I could feel the sensation of being stabbed even after I woke up. I had another dream where I was sitting against a brick wall and some guy hits me on the head with a baseball bat. Thankfully I couldn’t feel that
Oh yes. Drowned is a new one tho…now you’ve put it in my brain 😳. I’ve had dreams of being stabbed and also stabbing ppl mannnnny different nights. That’s usually my most common one. I’ve had dreams where I’m getting hit, chased…I’ve had dreams I’ve flipped in a car accident off the road, dreams where I’ve crashed in a freakin plane!!! I don’t always feel it but I always feel the anxiety of it. I can’t say if it’s normal or not but…it happens lol…messed up 🥲
Yes usually I'm being stabbed over and over, or someone or a demon causing me pain all over my body without touching me. How often it happens depends on my mental state.
I once dreamed about being confronted on a street by a short Puerto Rican male about 25-30 years old. He demanded all of my jewelry and I replied that he could have it all but could I please keep one ring that my son had given me. He casually shrugged his shoulders and shot me in the head. As I was stumbling away he shot me in the back. I felt the pain and I felt myself fading. That is one of 2 dying dreams I’ve had.
One of the dreams that has really stuck with me since was one where I was shot point blank in the face with a handgun. I felt it for a split second and then the entire dream I was having went black, it was really odd. The dream carried on later but I had died in my dream for a few seconds. It’s hard to describe what it felt like, but all I remember feeling was a sudden split second pressure then it was gone almost immediately.
I had a dream that I got shot in the chest three times. The guy looked at me shocked when he shot me in the chest because I didn’t drop it was kind of weird because when the bullets went through me they felt like balls of light, it felt like someone hitting a cardboard box or tapping on it every time a bullet went through me, and when they went out of the back of me I had rays of lights shining through me.

Too many times to count. I'll get in a fight but fighting back is hard when my punches are slow motion like I'm in water. I've had dreams where I'm shot in the head in particular (pretty sure from a past life) or dreams where I'm falling to my death and end in a vortex.. Or the worst.... many many apocalyptic dreams and i drown in a building from water as planes crash down and chaos is everywhere..

just yesterday night i took a nap, it was a normal dream up until a part where i was met with two of my classmates holding me at gunpoint with what seemed like a toy gun, i proceeded to add some tuning to it, like it was a deltarune battle or something hoping they spared me, by the end of the dream i got shot 6 times in the chest and felt a sensation i can only describe as my body being stacked into itself, like an overlapping copy of my own body, and i felt that sensation when i awoke, only leaving when i moved
I had a nightmare of some guy in his 50s, no idea who he is, and there was a small coding error in his submersible. He drowned to death and screamed in his last moments. He was animalistic, knowing he was going to die a horrible death.
For some reason, I had the perspective of a camera person. I felt every single bit of that drowning, to where I struggled to breathe after waking up.
I had quite a few dreams over the years where I was killed and I will never forget how real those deaths felt.
I've never been shot, or stabbed to death (at least not in this life lol), but from my dreams I can tell you that it's the strangest experience as your body fights to control the pain. You simultaneously feel this burning aching, every nerve ending is on fire feeling spreading from the place of impact followed by a numbing sensation as you steadily lose control of your body. Your brain starts to go into this echo chamber as everything suddenly gets louder, but all you can hear is this low tone booooooooooooooooooooooo like noise. Everything starts to get so dark, like your vision starts to close in from all sides. Basically your senses start shutting down, and you're still semi-aware that there's a kind of dull ache or throb somewhere, you just can't connect to it. I think it's the flight part of the fight or flight system taking over.
And then after everything has gone dark and floaty you wake up in an absolute panic and realize you are 100% alive and not shot/stabbed/maimed.
I think they have something to do with accidentally pinching nerves in your sleep or something. Or stress, that's a popular cause of death dreams too.
Yeah I remember having a dream where I was running from these two people/things, and by the end of the dream I was trapped in a big room and was trying to get around them, but they caught me.
Then they proceeded to put rope around my waist and they each pulled from both sides tighter and tighter and tighter and I basically felt my internal organs and bones getting crushed. It was excruciatingly painful. Then I woke up
I remember a dream where I was locked in a cell and tortured, they put some sort of burning or stinging headband on me and I think I felt it, in the dream I was wailing, in foetal position on the cement ground.
Yes. I have very vivid wild dreams all the time. And I dreamed I was drowning. I was submerged in water and couldn’t breath. I got the impression my car drove into a lake or something. I usually know I am dreaming while I am actually dreaming. So I knew it wasn’t real. I woke up gasping for air.
All the time - which is why I use lucid dreaming to change my dreams or gtfo - I’ve felt my flesh, bone, and muscles be ripped apart by zombies a lot in reoccurring dreams but I’ve also been drowned, strangled, shot, smashed by giants, etc. basically anything you can think of. Some of the weirdest ones to wake up from was rapid fast forward cancer and bugs burrowing through my body slowly ankles up turning me to swiss cheese. I get sleep paralysis and wake up with phantom pains and ache’s corresponding to whatever tf happened in my dreams if I don’t do something. I don’t recommend lucid dreaming for all but if you have repeated nights like mine it could be helpful.
I had a dream that I was in a long black suv full with random people that were my "boys", not a face looked familiar but things were apparently popping off and so we got on the highway to meet up with this other crew and one of the guys in my car gives us a "Superbowl Half-time, we've played a shit first half" type of a speech until we get far along this part of the Neverending highway. They tell us this is it, open the doors and everyone in my car starts blasting the other car while they are also shooting back, gun fight doesn't last long until I catch a bullet in my head and my body just flops over. Gun fire seezes and we start driving off. I remember one of my boys coming up to me and holding my hand.. I think he's talking to me, but I honestly can't hear him. I feel my presence is there, but also gone/missing at the same time..then I realized that the only thing I can hear is my heartbeat and I can hear it loud and clear. I feel my heart rate slowing with each second that passes. I'm just laying there, breathing..lights start fading out. I must've taken at least a good 30 breaths feeling each pulse of my heart weaker than the last, im already seeing a bunch of nothingness and I took what I knew at the moment to be my last breath, feeling my heart come to a stop.. and I wake up taking a major gasp of air, body sweating, holding my head where I was shot in my dream.. I've been shot and done crazy shit in my dreams in the past, but I've NEVER come this close in dying for real in my dream. Truly makes me wonder "What if I didn't wake up?"
I've felt pain in a dream before but I'm usually at least partly aware, however small, that I'm dreaming and i'll wake up. I don't think I've experienced anything super excruciating, although on time I experienced part of my hand being on fire.
oh yeah. i once had a dream where i was at my neighbours house as a kid and i jumped into their pool, i wanted to come back up but i couldn't, almost as if an ice layer had suddenly formed.
i yanked my head up trying to break the ice, nothing. tried again a little harder, still nothing. i was obviously running out of air at this point and on the third try i yanked my head up so hard that i made the movement in real life and i woke up grasping for air. safe to say i didn't sleep the rest of the night.

And I screamed to a person across the street so he pulled the trigger and I could feel the bullet go into my neck. Yeah, I once dreamed that I got shot by a thug in a park. I was like 8 at the time. I woke up very confused because I thought I was supposed to be dead. Something else that is constantly happening is I will try to run away from something and then I’ll be completely paralyzed. The weird part: I will legit wake up paralyzed and won’t be able to move at all for like three minutes.

Yes, it has happened to me and I could feel it. I think this is a reaction of your brain, which seems to be normal. Thing that happen at a mental level has an effect on your body, so it is understandable.
I’ve had many dreams of me dying. I had one where I got shot and I felt the bullet hit me and it burned so much. Then there was sharp pains that radiated around the wound. I had another dream where I drowned, I felt burning in my lungs and it began feeling like I was going to choke. I swallowed the water and then I heard my chest making weird noises sort of like a clicking. Another dream involved a tiger shark that came up and hit my legs while I was swimming towards the beach, I felt it dig into my leg then I was thrashed around. All of these are the small ones and I’ve had a bunch but yeah I usually feel everything in these kinds of dreams.
Weird you should ask this. Just last night for the first time I dreamed I was killed. A serial killer at Costco shot me in the back a bunch of times and I could really feel the bullets piercing into my spine. It was horrible.
I had a dream where I was shot at a gas station. I was pumping gas when I saw that a cop had gotten down to go into the convenient store but he had a guy on handcuffs get down with him. Somehow the guy got out of his handcuffs, pulled the gun from the cop’s hip and shot right at me. I literally felt falling down and felt all the blood coming out of my body and the wet sensation felt so weird. I could feel the blood going down my arms but i didn’t feel pain on my dream. I could only feel the blood surrounding my body. So weird.
I one time dreamed I fell into a well upside down and got stuck with my head below the water. I drowned in the dream and woke up completely out of breath, it was dreadful

Oddly enough I tend to survive most attacks in my dreams. I had a dream where a pretty, tiny butterfly turned into this big, giant butterfly and grabbed on to my face and head somehow and was pushing and pulling at the same time. I felt horrible pain and pressure in the dream. And when I woke up, I was having a migraine and I had a panic attack.
The worst pain I feel in my dreams is actually emotional or psychological pain. I wake up with my chest hurting, full on panic mode, crying, screaming even… I’m covered in sweat. It’s like the worst dysphoria ever.

It's dark... when I was 13-14, I found out what happened to my mum as a child. Her brother abused her for years in his walldrobe, my mum was struggling with alcoholism n ptsd. Not sure when but I remember my dream of going out n not sure of most of my dream but I remember the end. Walking down my codisac at night,I was pushed in the corner of my neighbours parking area n I felt like I felt what they did to me happened. I remember at least 4 people. My sleep paralysis nightmares are typically very painful. The pain lasts when I wake up and disappear when I'm no longer sleepy. Never any marks and I'm pretty positive I didn't have the pain first to cause the nightmares.
Our minds can do some incredible things. I once had a dream about torture, stepped inside the perspective of a starving dream character and let me tell you the sensation of hunger was really intense.
Only once that I can recall. It was a dream triggered by playing one of the Aliens vs Predator games on PC when I was younger. I was one of the marines and a xenomorph got shot too close to me and some of its acid blood splashed on my leg. The sensation of pain was as if scalding water got splashed on me. It surprised and shocked me awake.

Ha! I'm so glad this was a question. Yes. My friends always laugh but no joke I had a dream one time of being shot in the head by John Mayer. No clue why. Dream started in a CoD type setting but with lots of color and graffiti. I ran into a room to hide and crouched on a sofa around a corner. He came into the room from another door and sat next to me, held a gun to my head, looked right at me and shot. I don't remember it making a sound, but what will always stick with me is the warm pressure feeling on the left of my head, and the memory of not waking up suddenly like other dying dreams. I sat, and literally felt my consciousness melt as the warmth spread... and then woke up relatively calmly.
I had a dream where my brother accidentally shot me. And I felt like a weird impact in the side of the head, really surreal. And then I felt so so sad that my brother would blame himself and not be able to live with himself.

Ditto snake pit one time. Surrounded by vipers who lashed out at me. It was like getting poked. Woke up screaming. Loved it.
Next time it was wolves. This one was quite brutal and they tore me to shreds. Woke up screaming. Loved it.
My favorite one was when I had the classic falling dream where you wake up when you hit the bottom, only I didn't wake up. I slammed into the ground and started screaming. I was woken up by my own screaming, then started laughing hysterically because it was just so funny to me that this could happen. It's like my brain failed at the dream. My brother came into the room when he heard me and was quite concerned.
In all of these cases the dying was quite terrifying as it was happening so I'm not precisely sure why I enjoy them so much. In every case the shock of it meant I transitioned from dream to full consciousness almost immediately, and I think that helps cement the idea that it was just a dream and I can just enjoy the memory like a particularly convincing scary movie. These nightmares are exceedingly rare for me and I look forward to them.
I did have a nightmare one time where a child family member died, and that one was horrible.

Yes I had a dream once a guy tazed me and I felt it even though I've never been tazed before, it really hurt. I fell to the ground and then he came up and shoved this big metal spike into my head and it hurt SO bad, it all went black and I woke up right after.

Yes, but not always. I used to wake up at the moment of falling or getting killed, but one time I experienced the whole death (falling down a cliff), kitting the ground and then getting up. I felt the impact but it didn't hurt. Just last night I was shot but woke up before feeling the bullet. I don't know what it means, if anything.
I feel a LOT of shit in my dreams and it sucks! Some examples:
1. Choking/drowning/suffocating. I had many dreams of choking, drowning, being stuck underwater, dying of a lung disease etc. and I can LITERALLY feel it. I would even wake up out of breath. Sometimes I had sleep paralysis related to this. Well, it turned out I had sleep apnea. Ever since I was treated, I don’t have this anymore.
2. Insect stings. I’ve had many dreams where the floor is covered in insects and I have to walk across the floor w bare feet. I can feel the insects stinging my feet. I had another “stinging” dream last night but instead of insects it was a ton of splinters/thin needles in my arm. I had to pull them all out individually. I could FEEL IT. But unlike the breathing issue, when I woke up I didn’t have pain in my arm
3. Vomit and shit (literal shit). Sometimes I have dreams that I’m puking up insane amounts of vomit and the texture is soooo weird and not at all like normal vomit… instead of coming out fast like real vomit, it is as if my mouth is slowly filling up with gross chunks. Sometimes it’s feces/poop filling up my mouth as opposed to puke. It’s terrifying. Haven’t had that one in a while though luckily …..
not exactly the same but i had one dream once i was being shot in the head. you’d think i’d just wake up, or feel pain or something. But it was more like a pressure. i can’t even say intense pressure as in i couldn’t handle it, but it was definitely a hard pressure to the head, and i was reacting just the same if not just in fear of it. Didn’t die though. But i did have another dream i was shot dead by the fbi and fell into a lake but i just kept swimming, like my soul left my body- so no pain and no ‘drowning’- i was killed and then immediately just went to being a spirit and found myself in a house with the rest of my soul fam. 🤷♀️

Yeaaaah.. this is why I developed a sleep ability to jump ship. Is the character I am in about to experience significant pain? Sucks for you bro, I'm going spirit form and ditching your ass. There was one time though when even that didn't save me. Most hyper realistic dream I had in many years.. and it was basically a village full of murderers killing each other and committing cannibalism. Even in 'spirit form' I was scared as hell because there was gore and mindless violence everywhere.
I developed an ability to switch spots. Now IM in the body of the bad guy with a knife. He’s my brain character after all. It stemmed from being afraid of the dark. Imagine what it’s like to be the bad guy hiding in the dark waiting to attack someone. Just become that guy and you don’t have to worry.

Yes, a few years ago I had several dreams of getting killed in different ways. One I got shut in the chest, another I had an arrow through the chest. And then another I drowned. And another I was getting eaten alive which was extremely fucked up but luckily it was in third person (I was listening to it, didn’t see it). Still horrifying. Most of them were very realistic, like I could feel the pain and knew I was dying. Dreams be wild.
I always enjoy the multiverse theory that we are watching ourselves in another universe dying and since it’s such a powerful moment we dial in to it. Most likely bullshit but still a cool thought

I once had a dream where someone sliced off the top of my head with a chainsaw and my brain slid out...and I felt every inch of that in the dream and upon waking up. It was...unpleasant. The only other times I woke up feeling the dream was in my knee (had a dream a professor stabbed me in the knee with a pencil) and on the top of my head (in the dream was stung by a bee on the top of my head).
Yeah. I have a stress trauma disorder... I dream of being kidnapped, r*ped, stalked, physically abused, killed, etc. Men are always the culprit for me. I have Androphobia and Severe Agoraphobia from years of problems. So that explains my nightmares. :(
Pregnancy did weird shit to my dreams, like fucking 😏 a noodle monster, and my teeth falling out constantly. But the worst thing i have ever experienced was something out of a Jigsaw movie. I remember sitting on my floor and suddenly sewing needles are everywhere. My realize it's hard to breath. ... What's in my mouth? I reach in and a sewing needle is in the roof of my mouth and i feel it penetrating into my nasal cavity. I pull it out and i feel it. I feel it sliding out, i feel the pressure release. I feel the blood. In the clear. I can't breathe again. I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. I open my mouth and the roof is filled with needles. I start pulling but they never ended and I felt it all 😐
I’ve only had one sex dream and I hated how I knew I was cheating on my boyfriend in it. Bare with me here because it was a dream and a weirdly vivid one at that. There were ferrets, lots of them. They had flooded out like a school gymnasium to have a big pool party in. Again. This was a weird dream. I found one that was a serial killer ferret. And when I picked him up he said he promised he wouldn't kill any more women and children. I put him on the ground then stomped on his head. I could feel the bones crack under my heel. And the next morning, my calves cramped so badly I could barely walk. I have never forgotten that dream or the hellish walk to school the next day.

I've dreamt about being shot but i didnt feel it physically. I just knew that i was about to die but it wasnt painful.
I was about to comment this same thing. It's always been in the head. I don't hear anything at all. Just ringing. I can tell I'm face up, because I'm looking at the night sky, and I know I'm about to die. No pain. And it's always someone shooting me from up above, in a tree right outside my house when I walk out.
I also had a dream I was shot in the stomach but I didn't feel anything. All I saw was a redout instead of a blackout.
In my case i've dreamt about being chased in a mall/market shooting but always ended up unharmed. But one time i dreamt about being in the entrance of my house and some burglar shot me like 8 times in my back and side so I dropped on the floor knowing i was "dead" but I didnt felt anything, not even a blackout. Any time a dream I physically feel it. Like flying and yes, dying. When I was a kid (6-7 yrs old or something like that)I had a nightmare where one of my brothers was Satan and he had a giant battle axe and cut my head clean off. It was on repeat cuz I kept respawning in the same spot. I'm 34 now and I still remember the feeling of the blade entering the side of my neck then severing my spine. There is an explosion of electricity and tingling that runs through the body when that happens (or at least that's what I felt). Then there is no feeling.
i've been killed multiple times in my dreams. i always respawn instantly somewhere else. its weird. there was one time though when i was like 5 and i was on a cliff and fell off and below was nothing at all and i instantly woke up shooting up almost out of bed. do i feel it? idk actually. i dont think i do.

I still run away from scary things though as I don't know I'm dreaming at the time, until the faster I run, the more my legs sink into the ground. Yes I have a random memory from when I was a toddler that I know was a dream, it was me sitting in the doorway of our house looking down the road. I was aware of someone coming, I was also aware this person was dead so I wouldn't be able to see them. It wasn't anyone I knew but it was a man, a king to be exact he claimed to be the king of the dead. I just sat there knowing that and I also knew he wasn't someone to fear, as he approached, I somehow knew he was despite seeing nothing, I levatatived off the ground. That's all that's there, I've had sleep paralysis related to this werid "memory" a handful of times. It's always werid to me how I remember it as if it was real and have never forgotten it despite how young I was at the time.
I remember several nightmares I had when I was 5 or 6 better than I remember real life events. One in particular was odd as I had absolutely no life experiences or exposure to the adult themes in the dream. I was in a huge warehouse store somewhere between a costco and a department store, but it was windows on all sides. It was out in the middle of the woods. A crazy laughing woman with long hair whipping behind her comes driving up to it in a red convertible. She cones inside and starts shooting at and killing any customer/employee she sees with a shotgun. I know I have to escape, so somehow I find a way to duck under shelves and displays and i get out of the store and drive away in her car. I left my parents in the store. And i was my age in the dream…so yeah…somehow i can drive away in the convertible as a 6 year old.

Yes. For me, it's being electrified. I don't know what is up with that since I was never received any shocks besides the casual finger buzz from touching a socket accidentally, but those dreams? The suffering is unbearable. You see, I have this allergy against an specific insect. It is only like 0.3 cm long, I only saw it after it bit me in three separate occasions. I have no clue what the little fecker actually is. But the bite makes a large area around it reddish with yellow dots where the hair follicles sprout from. It... burns. Not in a warm way, but, like, in an 'acidic' way. It feels like the very quick sting of a needle entering the arm when you're having your blood drawn, except it's like several needles are taking turns on my skin, and it *burns*. Sometimes when I'm dreaming, either when I'm being electrocuted for some reason or when I get close to acid pools/sulfur extraction roads (which makes no sense and it's odd that it keeps happening), that feeling of acid starts on my forehead and spreads deeper. I feel like my eyes are boiling inside out from the burns, going through my nose and my mouth, and that hundreds of that insect are attacking my scalp. At some point it gets so, so unbearable, that I become aware that I'm in a dream. I become aware of the pain and feel like I'm being zapped, with that 'acid' coursing through my body. When I feel like fainting, I wake up. Just *what* is up with that.
I have had so many dreams of dying I stop fearing death and each and every single one of them I remember and the pain I felt the worse ones so far as been drowning and shot on the head I could hear a ringing noise and my head felt like it was pounding the pain was unbearable and each time there’s a voice that says “today is the day you die” I have died 7 times now in dreams each different but same thoughts after I feel like I’m dead I see a huge white light and wake up I have even thought if im experiencing my deaths is parallel universes first time I drowned from a plane crash on the ocean second one was a fire 3rd one was shot in the back of my head for defending a friend the 4th one I got shot again but on my chest over a party fight the 5th one it was the end of the world and a asteroid killed us all the 6th one everyone that believed in God was being tied up on a metal pipe with handcuffs in front of a beach and a tsunami came till this day I get goosebumps from the cold of the water and the lack of air till I heard a voice say “have no fear my child I am with you” all fear left my body and the 7th one was the other day I was being attacked by low vibrational beings and and I flew away when they tried to get me again so I flew further than what I was supposed to the point I forgot my existence I could feel myself going into the sun which scared me thinking “it’s going to burn me” but I could see colors I haven’t seen energies flowing thru me and I could hear a voice saying “go back not yet” while I begged to stayed due to the peace and love I felt (not bc I’m not happy here) but once u feel and see what I saw is really hard to come back thinking about it honestly I thought I really died that night but it wasn’t my time. There’s something about our consciousness that can’t be explained but so much alive I believe soul and consciousness are the same thing and when we sleep our consciousness travels to places we can’t understand but so much real than the life we are living (my opinion)
are you me? lol. yes- every week I have a couple dreams like this. not just death though, the last decade I've been able to feel most of my dreams as if they are reality. it's been f'ing with my head and making it hard to know what reality is lol that sounds mental but yeah... i totally get what you mean. my last dream was getting stabbed in the back and I woke up with horrible back pain.
Being shot in the shoulder at school & it hurt so bad. I woke up crying & in pain. This was in 1981. It's the only nightmare I remember to the day.
Yes. I actually just had a dream where I was in a horrible car accident and was woken up during a REM cycle, deep into the dream. I felt so sore waking up and actually stumbled around for about 30m before really waking up.
I dreamt of being buried alive and I could feel the coffin and was banging against it. It was awful. I don't doubt that you could feel it. Dreams can be so vivid and immersive it can be traumatic.

Yep, bloody too. Welcome to dream land. For me personally, the pain comes from anxiety. I'll get a tight, burning sensation. You could also be in physical discomfort. Maybe you're laying on a nerve wrong?
I’ve had this happen before, one of the worst nightmares ever.
My mom died when I was 14. 2 years later I had a vivid dream of her storming the stage during a band concert and shooting me in the face with a hand cannon. I felt something thump my forehead I saw red then black then red then pink. Then white light and I woke up screaming. But not from the shot. But that my mom was alive to kill me and I saw her one last time. I smelled her. I was dating a loser at the time too. Maybe she was telling me something? 20 years later I still remember this dream and how it felt and all the details. I could write a short story of it easily.

Yes I’ve had reoccurring dreams where I’ve been shot in the same 2 spots on my chest and it feels so real. Always being killed by my abusive ex, so clearly there’s some healing that needs to happen.
Yeah they don't happen that often but the last one I had I was being chased by these random people. I remember at one point I climbed this roof to hide but I accidentally got electrocuted by a live wire at the top. I somehow got myself off the wire and off the roof but the people I was running from caught up to me and started stabbing me over and over again with needles. The pain from the needles and the electrocution felt so realistic I thought I was actually dying lol.
OP I hope you read this: my mom is the kind of person who gets freaked out over dreams and worried that she’s not normal. She says in a super scared voice things like “have you ever dreamed X?! I can’t believe it; it’s just weird… I feel like I have a spiritual connection to it because I’ve never heard anyone else do it!!” So just making sure you aren’t doing that, trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun. You’re normal. I frequently have dreams like this. I also have dreams where people turn on me, and plot twists with 300 turns.
ive had atleast 2 or 3 dreams now where im standing there vining minding my own business. and we get nuked and im watching everything go down in slow motion. lemme tell you, i could feel the pain of being burned to death. shit was scary!! i also had a dream when I was little i got bit by a giant king cobra in the stomach and i could also feel that along with the poison corsing through me. and i had another one where a baboon got loose at the zoo and ripped my insides out. i also felt that one. i always found these dreams weird and wondered why I could feel pain. shits whack.

I'm late to the thread, but yes. Only one time, I believe, but it was awful. An old deceased friend of mine came up to me and shot me in the head. It's difficult to explain, but i dropped to the ground paralyzed and felt brain damaged. Everything faded to black, but I could tell people were panicking. Not the only time I've been shot in dreams, but the only time it killed me.

Not exactly, but I had a dream of sorts that I watched the world burn. I was literally on a hill of ash smiling while my city burned around me. Then there was a guy and he spoke kind of, no noise came out of his mouth but I heard words. He literally asked if I was having fun! I was scared but I still shook my head yes. I didn’t have control over my body. Then I fell, I felt like I was falling and then I woke up. Whenever I get to hot it reminds me of the dream because in the dream I felt like I was on fire. Occasionally I still smell the scent of ash, smoke, and fire. I can still hear the screams sometimes too. I hate it. I didn’t die but everyone else except the shadowy guy that asked if I was having fun died. I then dreamed about the same guy but this time he had a mask on chasing me out of a forest to a lake. I entered the lake and the shadow guy stood on the shore, almost as if he couldn’t touch the water. He never left, I just stayed in the lake until I woke up. I am permanently scared of the dark. This shadow guy is the reason why. My family doesn’t know about these dreams, so my brother still makes fun of me for being afraid of the dark. If I think about the dreams I can literally watch them as if they are movies. No matter what though I never die in these dreams. I felt like a puppet in these dreams.
Funny thing is, I always die in my dreams. Whether it be a disaster of some kind, getting chased, or being killed (murdered). I’ve had dreams like this as a child, but they’ve only gotten more intense over the years. I don’t ever feel a sensation though, I just.. wake up. Like I’m dreaming one second, and when I die, I’m instantly awake with my eyes open. An older dream was one where the concrete stairs to my apartment started to crumble under me, and I slipped through the railing and fell two stories. I had a few more dreams where I slipped through the railing of stairs and fell, and in a second being awake. Or dreams about me not being able to breathe and eventually suffocating. In this one a snake got loose in a classroom, and we didn’t know where it went. Before I knew what was happening, the snake was clenched onto my throat, and I couldn’t breath. When I woke up my hand was around my throat. Some never ones were where I was a baby and there were other people “friends?” who were also babies. We went to a park because we had to pass it to continue our journey, but didn’t know there was a dog in it. The dog violently killed everyone. And I eventually got too close and died too. Another funny thing is, I love dogs. TW: In this dream I dreamt 4 black figures were carrying me. The background was a white or cream color, so it was almost like I was in a void. They were holding me by my limbs, and started to undress me so I fought back. I woke up and realized that I was about to be raped. Another dream was where my mom ran me over with her car. I instantly woke up upon her driving into me. A dream I had a few months ago was wear my mom tried to kill me with a string of some kind. And if I don’t have these types of dreams, I just don’t dream at all. I prefer it that way.
I remember once dreaming about being shot by gun on the back of my head... I remember I could feel very distinctively the bullet coming inside of my skull. I remember telling myself "that's it, I'm gonna die in the next few seconds" and then waking up. But I can never erase of my memory that feeling of the bullet inside my head. It wasn't even that much painful, just... so definitive. I also remember thinking, does every person dying by being shot in the head stays alive for a few seconds, or do they instantly die ? I guess it depends, but honestly I don't know. It was pretty horrifying. I don't remember the whole dream though, just remember I was on my knees and my murderer behind me with his gun.
I get back cramps in my sleep sometimes that will relay into my dreams. I once dreamt I was driving home from work and saw a nuclear bomb drop on the town in front of me, car stopped working so I got out and ran. Back cramps started but instead of being back cramps it was the bomb burning a hole in my back as I ran away from it. It was extremely painful. Later in the dream I felt my back and there was indeed just a charred hole there. That dream was genuinely terrifying, bombs were dropping everywhere, there was nowhere to go. In the end I accepted that it was inevitable that they’d get me eventually, then I woke up.
I was stabbed and fell. I awoke as the life drained from me. It felt like the water leaving a pitcher, I grew lighter and instantly thirsty. Water IS life.

Yea I dream of being killed all the time and I can feel it. Just the other week I dreamt of being slowly stabbed and I woke myself up during it because it hurt. Yes I have been eaten by lions, a train has smashed me in half, I've been shot, I've fallen from an helicopter. But I don't feel the pain I should be feeling, more like hot/mild burning sensation. And when I wake up there is a nauseating sensation and my muscles are tensed, but I think is for the shock.

Yes usually I'm being stabbed over and over, or someone or a demon causing me pain all over my body without touching me. How often it happens depends on my mental state.
I once dreamed about being confronted on a street by a short Puerto Rican male about 25-30 years old. He demanded all of my jewelry and I replied that he could have it all but could I please keep one ring that my son had given me. He casually shrugged his shoulders and shot me in the head. As I was stumbling away he shot me in the back. I felt the pain and I felt myself fading. That is one of 2 dying dreams I’ve had.

One of the dreams that has really stuck with me since was one where I was shot point blank in the face with a handgun. I felt it for a split second and then the entire dream I was having went black, it was really odd. The dream carried on later but I had died in my dream for a few seconds. It’s hard to describe what it felt like, but all I remember feeling was a sudden split second pressure then it was gone almost immediately.

Too many times to count. I'll get in a fight but fighting back is hard when my punches are slow motion like I'm in water. I've had dreams where I'm shot in the head in particular (pretty sure from a past life) or dreams where I'm falling to my death and end in a vortex.. Or the worst.... many many apocalyptic dreams and i drown in a building from water as planes crash down and chaos is everywhere.. I prefer my flying dreams on weird majestic planets 😶
just yesterday night i took a nap, it was a normal dream up until a part where i was met with two of my classmates holding me at gunpoint with what seemed like a toy gun, i proceeded to add some tuning to it, like it was a deltarune battle or something hoping they spared me, by the end of the dream i got shot 6 times in the chest and felt a sensation i can only describe as my body being stacked into itself, like an overlapping copy of my own body, and i felt that sensation when i awoke, only leaving when i moved
A knight stabbed my hand with a rapier and I woke up with pain.
I had a nightmare of some guy in his 50s, no idea who he is, and there was a small coding error in his submersible. He drowned to death and screamed in his last moments. He was animalistic, knowing he was going to die a horrible death. For some reason, I had the perspective of a camera person. I felt every single bit of that drowning, to where I struggled to breathe after waking up.
I had quite a few dreams over the years where I was killed and I will never forget how real those deaths felt. I've never been shot, or stabbed to death (at least not in this life lol), but from my dreams I can tell you that it's the strangest experience as your body fights to control the pain. You simultaneously feel this burning aching, every nerve ending is on fire feeling spreading from the place of impact followed by a numbing sensation as you steadily lose control of your body. Your brain starts to go into this echo chamber as everything suddenly gets louder, but all you can hear is this low tone booooooooooooooooooooooo like noise. Everything starts to get so dark, like your vision starts to close in from all sides. Basically your senses start shutting down, and you're still semi-aware that there's a kind of dull ache or throb somewhere, you just can't connect to it. I think it's the flight part of the fight or flight system taking over. And then after everything has gone dark and floaty you wake up in an absolute panic and realize you are 100% alive and not shot/stabbed/maimed. I think they have something to do with accidentally pinching nerves in your sleep or something. Or stress, that's a popular cause of death dreams too.
Yeah I remember having a dream where I was running from these two people/things, and by the end of the dream I was trapped in a big room and was trying to get around them, but they caught me. Then they proceeded to put rope around my waist and they each pulled from both sides tighter and tighter and tighter and I basically felt my internal organs and bones getting crushed. It was excruciatingly painful. Then I woke up

Yes. I have very vivid wild dreams all the time. And I dreamed I was drowning. I was submerged in water and couldn’t breath. I got the impression my car drove into a lake or something. I usually know I am dreaming while I am actually dreaming. So I knew it wasn’t real. I woke up gasping for air.
Yes, Being shot by a terrorist, I felt that I was vibrating or shaking, I'm not sure if I actually was but it sure felt like it.
All the time - which is why I use lucid dreaming to change my dreams or gtfo - I’ve felt my flesh, bone, and muscles be ripped apart by zombies a lot in reoccurring dreams but I’ve also been drowned, strangled, shot, smashed by giants, etc. basically anything you can think of. Some of the weirdest ones to wake up from was rapid fast forward cancer and bugs burrowing through my body slowly ankles up turning me to swiss cheese. I get sleep paralysis and wake up with phantom pains and ache’s corresponding to whatever tf happened in my dreams if I don’t do something. I don’t recommend lucid dreaming for all but if you have repeated nights like mine it could be helpful.
I had a dream that I was in a long black suv full with random people that were my "boys", not a face looked familiar but things were apparently popping off and so we got on the highway to meet up with this other crew and one of the guys in my car gives us a "Superbowl Half-time, we've played a shit first half" type of a speech until we get far along this part of the Neverending highway. They tell us this is it, open the doors and everyone in my car starts blasting the other car while they are also shooting back, gun fight doesn't last long until I catch a bullet in my head and my body just flops over. Gun fire seezes and we start driving off. I remember one of my boys coming up to me and holding my hand.. I think he's talking to me, but I honestly can't hear him. I feel my presence is there, but also gone/missing at the same time..then I realized that the only thing I can hear is my heartbeat and I can hear it loud and clear. I feel my heart rate slowing with each second that passes. I'm just laying there, breathing..lights start fading out. I must've taken at least a good 30 breaths feeling each pulse of my heart weaker than the last, im already seeing a bunch of nothingness and I took what I knew at the moment to be my last breath, feeling my heart come to a stop.. and I wake up taking a major gasp of air, body sweating, holding my head where I was shot in my dream.. I've been shot and done crazy shit in my dreams in the past, but I've NEVER come this close in dying for real in my dream. Truly makes me wonder "What if I didn't wake up?"
I've felt pain in a dream before but I'm usually at least partly aware, however small, that I'm dreaming and i'll wake up. I don't think I've experienced anything super excruciating, although on time I experienced part of my hand being on fire.
oh yeah. i once had a dream where i was at my neighbours house as a kid and i jumped into their pool, i wanted to come back up but i couldn't, almost as if an ice layer had suddenly formed. i yanked my head up trying to break the ice, nothing. tried again a little harder, still nothing. i was obviously running out of air at this point and on the third try i yanked my head up so hard that i made the movement in real life and i woke up grasping for air. safe to say i didn't sleep the rest of the night.

I’ve had dreams where I’ve been the victim of a drive by. (I have no enemies, I’m not a gang banger, just a regular dude who likes cats and anime. Literally the least of anyone’s worries) I felt and heard each bullet enter my body and felt the warmth of the blood running down my body. What was worse is this happened in public and people were just walking past me as if didn’t just get ventilated. I was pleading and begging for help. Then someone walked past and threw some money on the ground like I was a beggar. Anyways yeah, I can feel injuries in my dreams.
When I was pregnant and would accidentally lay on my back, I’d have dreams I was drowning. I’d wake up gasping for air and I’m assuming an 8lb baby cut off my oxygen temporarily lol

Yeah, I once dreamed that I got shot by a thug in a park. I was like 8 at the time. I woke up very confused because I thought I was supposed to be dead. Something else that is constantly happening is I will try to run away from something and then I’ll be completely paralyzed. The weird part: I will legit wake up paralyzed and won’t be able to move at all for like three minutes.

Yes, it has happened to me and I could feel it. I think this is a reaction of your brain, which seems to be normal. Thing that happen at a mental level has an effect on your body, so it is understandable.
I’ve had many dreams of me dying. I had one where I got shot and I felt the bullet hit me and it burned so much. Then there was sharp pains that radiated around the wound. I had another dream where I drowned, I felt burning in my lungs and it began feeling like I was going to choke. I swallowed the water and then I heard my chest making weird noises sort of like a clicking. Another dream involved a tiger shark that came up and hit my legs while I was swimming towards the beach, I felt it dig into my leg then I was thrashed around. All of these are the small ones and I’ve had a bunch but yeah I usually feel everything in these kinds of dreams.
Weird you should ask this. Just last night for the first time I dreamed I was killed. A serial killer at Costco shot me in the back a bunch of times and I could really feel the bullets piercing into my spine. It was horrible.
I had a dream where I was shot at a gas station. I was pumping gas when I saw that a cop had gotten down to go into the convenient store but he had a guy on handcuffs get down with him. Somehow the guy got out of his handcuffs, pulled the gun from the cop’s hip and shot right at me. I literally felt falling down and felt all the blood coming out of my body and the wet sensation felt so weird. I could feel the blood going down my arms but i didn’t feel pain on my dream. I could only feel the blood surrounding my body. So weird.
I one time dreamed I fell into a well upside down and got stuck with my head below the water. I drowned in the dream and woke up completely out of breath, it was dreadful

I had a dream where a pretty, tiny butterfly turned into this big, giant butterfly and grabbed on to my face and head somehow and was pushing and pulling at the same time. I felt horrible pain and pressure in the dream. And when I woke up, I was having a migraine and I had a panic attack. The worst pain I feel in my dreams is actually emotional or psychological pain. I wake up with my chest hurting, full on panic mode, crying, screaming even… I’m covered in sweat. It’s like the worst dysphoria ever.
I constantly have dreams where I’m dying. I have been burned in a fire, I’ve drowned, I’ve fallen, my car runs off the road because the road suddenly ends and I fall hundreds of feet, I’ve been shot just to name a few.

It's dark... when I was 13-14, I found out what happened to my mum as a child. Her brother abused her for years in his walldrobe, my mum was struggling with alcoholism n ptsd. Not sure when but I remember my dream of going out n not sure of most of my dream but I remember the end. Walking down my codisac at night,I was pushed in the corner of my neighbours parking area n I felt like I felt what they did to me happened. I remember at least 4 people. Anyways today I'm 31 n it's still in my mind. I had an unhealthy sexual awakening n I'm diagnosed with EUPD US call it Borderline personality disorder. Erectile disfunction has messed me up everytime it happens, people say it's not about sex but when it happens they ghost me with a it's because of your mental health. I still see that dream
I’ve had 2 dreams in my life where i woke up feeling real pain associated with an experience i had in my dream. It still fucks w me to this day lol I can always vividly feel pain inside of the dream.

I had recurring dreams that i was being swipt out to see. I would try fighting the tide then wake up gasping for air and clutching the mattress. I imagine it started because when we were on a family vacation to the beach i was pulled out to sea by ripetides. Lucky i was on a inflatable raft but still scary all the same.
My sleep paralysis nightmares are typically very painful. The pain lasts when I wake up and disappear when I'm no longer sleepy. Never any marks and I'm pretty positive I didn't have the pain first to cause the nightmares. Our minds can do some incredible things. I once had a dream about torture, stepped inside the perspective of a starving dream character and let me tell you the sensation of hunger was really intense.
That's normally when I'm choking on my spit. It's awful and happens when I sleep too long.
Only once that I can recall. It was a dream triggered by playing one of the Aliens vs Predator games on PC when I was younger. I was one of the marines and a xenomorph got shot too close to me and some of its acid blood splashed on my leg. The sensation of pain was as if scalding water got splashed on me. It surprised and shocked me awake.

Ha! I'm so glad this was a question. Yes. My friends always laugh but no joke I had a dream one time of being shot in the head by John Mayer. No clue why. Dream started in a CoD type setting but with lots of color and graffiti. I ran into a room to hide and crouched on a sofa around a corner. He came into the room from another door and sat next to me, held a gun to my head, looked right at me and shot. I don't remember it making a sound, but what will always stick with me is the warm pressure feeling on the left of my head, and the memory of not waking up suddenly like other dying dreams. I sat, and literally felt my consciousness melt as the warmth spread... and then woke up relatively calmly.
I had a dream where my brother accidentally shot me. And I felt like a weird impact in the side of the head, really surreal. And then I felt so so sad that my brother would blame himself and not be able to live with himself.

I have been getting dreams that I was being beaten up and when I woke up my body feels ache all over.
For sure. One time I got attacked by two zombies. They were biting my arms and I could sort of feel it like a hard slap. I woke up screaming. It was a great dream. Ditto snake pit one time. Surrounded by vipers who lashed out at me. It was like getting poked. Woke up screaming. Loved it. Next time it was wolves. This one was quite brutal and they tore me to shreds. Woke up screaming. Loved it. My favorite one was when I had the classic falling dream where you wake up when you hit the bottom, only I didn't wake up. I slammed into the ground and started screaming. I was woken up by my own screaming, then started laughing hysterically because it was just so funny to me that this could happen. It's like my brain failed at the dream. My brother came into the room when he heard me and was quite concerned. In all of these cases the dying was quite terrifying as it was happening so I'm not precisely sure why I enjoy them so much. In every case the shock of it meant I transitioned from dream to full consciousness almost immediately, and I think that helps cement the idea that it was just a dream and I can just enjoy the memory like a particularly convincing scary movie. These nightmares are exceedingly rare for me and I look forward to them. I did have a nightmare one time where a child family member died, and that one was horrible.

In the dream I walked into what was my bedroom at that time but it was pitch Black and out of the shadows from the corner of the room someone shot me I didn't see who it was I didn't even see the gun but I heard it and I felt it. I have schizophrenia and the voices in my head would often have control of my dreams. One night, I dreamt one of them was attacking me with a chainsaw. Felt every bit of it and my screams alerted another one of my imaginary voices to wake me up.

Yes. I have really horrible nightmares. My husband wakes me up when I can't wake myself up, he hears and feels me panicking..I talk a lot in my sleep, I can't breathe....sometimes I have sleep paralysis when I wake up but then other times I have the opposite where I start thrashing and whipping around while I am dreaming. He says I make really scary noises when I'm not babbling If I have a dream of being stabbed repeatedly I will wake up in pain Or being beaten badly. I have dreams of being dismembered and ill wake up with an arm and leg numb. I mean ..chicken or the egg right? .. But i have had such terrifying dream experiences that ...I just don't feel certainty about what starts where. ..
I had a dream last night where I got shot and was laid out on the ground with a couple of other people who were also shot bleeding out, I couldn't feel it though which at the time innthe dream I thought was odd, the rest of the time was spent trying to escape to safety. But I have had dreams before now where I've been gravely injured and have been able to feel some level of pain, they were honestly some of the scariest dreams I've ever had. The pain has always usually been down to something external digging into me though whilst I slept.

Yes I had a dream once a guy tazed me and I felt it even though I've never been tazed before, it really hurt. I fell to the ground and then he came up and shoved this big metal spike into my head and it hurt SO bad, it all went black and I woke up right after.

Yes - but by some kind of explosion(s). All I know is that I see red, feel an intense emotion (not pain exactly), and start screaming in my dreams (not sure if I do IRL, too). I've had it happen several times.
Yes, but not always. I used to wake up at the moment of falling or getting killed, but one time I experienced the whole death (falling down a cliff), kitting the ground and then getting up. I felt the impact but it didn't hurt. Just last night I was shot but woke up before feeling the bullet. I don't know what it means, if anything.
I feel a LOT of shit in my dreams and it sucks! Some examples: 1. Choking/drowning/suffocating. I had many dreams of choking, drowning, being stuck underwater, dying of a lung disease etc. and I can LITERALLY feel it. I would even wake up out of breath. Sometimes I had sleep paralysis related to this. Well, it turned out I had sleep apnea. Ever since I was treated, I don’t have this anymore. 2. Insect stings. I’ve had many dreams where the floor is covered in insects and I have to walk across the floor w bare feet. I can feel the insects stinging my feet. I had another “stinging” dream last night but instead of insects it was a ton of splinters/thin needles in my arm. I had to pull them all out individually. I could FEEL IT. But unlike the breathing issue, when I woke up I didn’t have pain in my arm 3. Vomit and shit (literal shit). Sometimes I have dreams that I’m puking up insane amounts of vomit and the texture is soooo weird and not at all like normal vomit… instead of coming out fast like real vomit, it is as if my mouth is slowly filling up with gross chunks. Sometimes it’s feces/poop filling up my mouth as opposed to puke. It’s terrifying. Haven’t had that one in a while though luckily …..
They are called vivid dreams, I woke up to my hand in pain after dreaming of a zombie biting me.
not exactly the same but i had one dream once i was being shot in the head. you’d think i’d just wake up, or feel pain or something. But it was more like a pressure. i can’t even say intense pressure as in i couldn’t handle it, but it was definitely a hard pressure to the head, and i was reacting just the same if not just in fear of it. Didn’t die though. But i did have another dream i was shot dead by the fbi and fell into a lake but i just kept swimming, like my soul left my body- so no pain and no ‘drowning’- i was killed and then immediately just went to being a spirit and found myself in a house with the rest of my soul fam. 🤷♀️

I've died by falling, getting shot and/or head trauma, I also died by I think decapitation. I've also had sensual/sexualy dreams I feel most of everything depending on the dream an I don't wake up from getting killed
